The US held its end of the deal when it passed the bill to ban TikTok. Meta then suppressed “political” content on all its platforms. When people started opting out of the suppression, Meta simply reset everyone's settings back to suppressing political content, then said it was a mistake.

The global war for resources is not limited to oil. Computational power, internet infrastructure, and the flow of information, are increasing becoming the most important arms race of our time.

We did this shit back in the Mueller days, early in Trump's presidency. Looking back, it was just straight up cope. We fantasied of some unnamed rule of law coming in the night to lock his ass up and restore our brunch reservations.

Maybe this sort of fantasy is important for processing trauma, so I don't want to judge too harshly. I honestly don't know. But, if we allow ourselves to get hypnotized by these types of revenge p*rn, battle-plans-that-fit-on-a-marquee fantasies, for the next 4,8,20 years, we're in bad shape.

Those people—the ones who have the power to do that—they're not coming to save us. So it might be best if we stop framing this fight as the system prevailing over evil. The purpose of the system is what it does, and this system protects the wealthy at all costs.
