in this iteration, they're a Sparri technopriest and hacker who left their homeworld to pursue a life you could write sagas about out in the Long Rim, and their skill in posting too hard online communing with technospirits has landed them in the possession of multiple HORUS licenses

I had a dream once where a house’s malevolent technospirit tried to kill me and i escaped after faking my own death. My father was a Guy-With-Glasses-And-A-Mustache who discovered my fake body laying fake dead on top of a tree. I had to watch him agonize over it for an hour.

Last night I had the same dream, kind of, but different. there was a young boy something like ten years old. I comforted him after he lost a game of mario kart and was being shouted at by adults. I taught him how to play properly and encouraged him. I patted his poofy hair and told him it was okay to cry. He said “can i have a kiss” and i said “no, because I’m an adult and you’re a kid. i can hug you and pat your head but only family and adults can kiss” he was annoyed by that, and tried to break into the bathroom while i was using the toilet. I had to literally kick him out from under the door with my foot several times. each time i kicked him away he came back older and larger and louder and angrier. i escaped out the window and went to pick up a package.

That’s where the technoghost came back. I discovered him after going to a really nice house near downtown to retrieve a costco package. Apparently we almost lived in that house and i accidentally gave costco that address instead of ours. The woman living there gave us the package and looked like she was about to cry. The technoghost didn’t like when things left the house.

The house had a tower spire thing. Children played in it even though it was dangerous and unsupported. I investigated it and the ghost wouldn’t let me leave until I died or everyone else died. I faked my death and ran. I was chased by a sorcerer dressed all in white and i had to pick up white crystals and stones from the ground. Putting one of each into my mouth together would cause a reaction where i would displace myself in time just slightly and be able to hide. I put too many in and became a panther, and the sorcerer became a lion.

Both me and the lion could float/fly. After a few narrow escapes both I and the Lion gave birth to six or seven cubs each. Other animals were having large births also. I negotiated a slight truce with the Lion for the good of our cubs and when I turned the corner, I was home. There was a huge party outside my house, and Edith from Downton Abbey was with me. She had crystal litter on her, she was embarrassed and i was confused.

Davyn finally showed up for the first time since the Spire house incident and we were human. We approached the entrance and it was TRASHED. The litter box was MELTED into the trash can, and there was water in it up to the brim. I was distraught to say the least.

Davyn and I explored the house, and I found like five puppies and two adult dogs upstairs. I was thrilled. I wondered if Cabbage and Kimchi would get along with them, then realized that it was 1953 and they aren’t alive yet.

Davyn and I are stuck in the same house 65 years in the past and it’s a pigsty.

We still have our phones and chargers, and we discover that obviously the internet doesn’t work, but we can still text each other and charge our phones, thankfully. He goes out to find a job and I clean the rotten first floor. He comes back and we kiss hello and I wake up.

Homunculus IV: Europe Day 4

Not much to wax philosophical about today. I woke up rekked, but not so rekked considering. Fish was had, chips were had. Pints and whiskeys were had.

I think a thing to do in this entry would be to get into some lyrical annotations provided by:

This passage is referring directly to the semi historical Sael M’bel and Archduke Bernh Jeling-Kalingeratal. Sael M’bel being a prominent voice for reform in the Cult of Informatus in Rocket City following what he (and his self-appointed Guardians of the Kernel) refer to as The Great Corruption. Jeling-Kalingeratal, is a character not particularly well known to this archive, though the public records of this time do suggest the vastness of their resources were matched only by their reticence for activities within the public sphere. What is known is that (aside from the evidence presented here) a relationship between the two did exist, the result of which was the creation of Vessels I though X, of which our narrator is likely designation IV.

In this passage Vessel IV reveals the ostensible purpose for which all of the Vessels were conceived and created. It was widely believed by the Infospiritual community of the day that those individuals that had undergone emergency mind-state uploads (say for major cybernetic surgery/extreme injury) would develop intermittent precognitive abilities. It was thought that the infopatched mind adapted to the implanted data by generating a new kind of indexing protocol able to seek and incorporate data from non sensory input sources and thereby allow for access to “The Great Data Stream” (a kind of technospirital vision of the underpinnings of existence). It is generally held by archivists of later ages that the Homunculi of the Vessels project, being composed of entirely bio-organic body and inorganic mind pattern, were an attempt to create an organism capable of achieving a more permanent precognitive state. As to the final lines of the stanza, Vessel IV seems to sardonically reference the fundamental conflict between precognition and memory, though IV’s actual possession of that ability has never been substantiated.

The first stanza appears to address principally Sael M’bel, who, it was said was the greatest neo-alchemist of his day. The following stanza however seems to address Jeling-Kalingeratal as records suggest M’bel was already dead (possibly at the hands of his creations) at the time of this writing. The passage also appears to indicate some kind of relationship between Jeling-Kalingeratal and Vessel IV, though the extent and exact nature of this is unknown. Secondary texts recording folklore of the era do speak of a scholar king (loosely fitting Jeling-Kalingeratal’s description) who ventures out into the forest in search of some kind of supernatural entity (faerie/imp/etc.) with the ability to “ripen the fruit of knowledge.” In the end, said scholar king, having acquired and eaten the fruit, learns the manner of his death and travels into the past to eliminate his killer. As these things go, it is revealed that the killer is his natural father, and in slaying him the king effectively erases his own existence leaving nothing behind but a stone tablet recounting the tale. Hierophants of later eras were known to use the tale as a parable about the dangers about “forbidden knowledge” both in terms of individual consequences, and in terms of the tablet’s larger “corruption” of the data stream. It wasn’t until the most recent rediscovery of the Homunculus project and the historical importance of the Vessels that scholars began to suspect that the quasi-mythical Jeling-Kalingeratal may have been a model for this story.

The final refrain of of the piece seems to be attempting to reinforce the idea that the entire piece is a kind of portrait of the narrator, the father-creator, and father-sustainer at a “moment” when their futures and memories intertwined. A moment that is in effect “frozen” by the death of an earlier version of the narrator and framed by the death of their creator. The various archaeological recreations of the musical portion of this seem to reinforce this as well, as the repetition of the “frozen in a moment” motif usually ends abruptly , segueing then into the semi-static pattern loop of the introduction.
