doing the songs bracket has had me going back to listen to UFLO and TBOA which i don't generally have in rotation much but truly have a lot of bangers imo.

endless amounts of love and gratitude for dearest izumisays who put the cherry on top of my scorpio season with the offer to create a cover for yet another one of my little fanmixes! i now desperately need to hang this in the louvre and my wall because i cannot stop gazing at it in awe and adoration and feel the need to make everyone else do the same 🥰

we had talked about the vibe for this being inspired and informed by the transition from the sharp edges of their earlier dynamic to the recent (incredibly! surreal!) gentler pause in divorce coexistence that manga canon has been gifting us. as a result, it wound up much mellower and maybe even cautiously hopeful(?) in parts compared to those before (ie. the overall aesthetic contrast/narrative progression from here still hecks me up in the best way)

not sure how much tumblr may be messing with the resolution so full-view probably best and pls also appreciate seiji's tiny proposal loquat[TM] in the last pic! :D

my favorite RUMOURS track changes with the weather, but i have a tattoo of a specific photo of stevie nicks performing this song from a 1977 tour stop so it's got a special piece of my soul.

living room — tegan and sara

my best friends and i used to get drunk at the grimiest dive in our rural college town, repeatedly play this song on the jukebox and dance around (and sometimes on top of) the bar while falling in love and shouting the lyrics in each others’ faces. remains a staple of long drives through cornfields to this day.

chicago (demo version) - sufjan stevens

the original/final version of this song is of course lush and sweeping and iconic in its own right — but the demo will always echo the true spirit of the city to me. it’s rougher, stretched thin; simultaneously tense and tenacious, a bit anxiety-inducing but driven by hope. it scraps its way through to the end of another day and makes my little chicagoan heart swell with pride.

All I Have To Give The World Is Me is another song that I think about. Most of the song is self esteem issues and existentialism and I think Tegan might have mentioning closeting at some point but there’s a few lines which sound like either general twin issues or her specifically talking to Sara. I kind of hope they release another album to reimagine the other demo songs, there’s so much interesting lyricism and some gorgeous melodies (and they played piano again when they performed them live which feels so crazy. Have you seen the CIO perf from 2019 where they’re both at the same keyboard and Sara sings lead? Fever dream)

I may have remembered this wrong but wasn’t that song originally written by Sara? Bc if I’m right about that, I absolutely love that Tegan sang it bc it’s something that they both had to learn to live with
