AHHHHH you have no idea how happy i was to see this?? i was pleasantly surprised when i first saw that there was a popular hc in the fandom that james was indian?? its fun but sometimes its just very superficial - he celebrates diwali and throws in one or two hindi words, lol.

my hc:

Honestly the strongest point i have is that he is from telangana lol (warangal bidda if you will)

he listens to telugu music (only knows what his dad listens to tho). it was hard to connect to the telugu popculture (hogwarts doesnt have technology and he's in the U.K. anyway)

James would probably be a chiranjeevi fan (he was very campy and talented!) if he cared. He would crush on sridevi, it's just natural.

He didn't care for cultural festivals, and his parents are Christian, but he devoured Ugadi pachadi. (laddoos and kaja for Christmas?? anyone?? Sirius would be so fascinated with putharekulu and remus' sweet tooth would be happy with all the sweets-his fav is peda!)

I tried to be period friendly (even looked up media in the 70s lmao), but if it's just any era: James would be a hoe for 2000s films. probably loves okkadu if I'm being real.

his cousins in the mainland definitely gave him shit for his accent, and he doesn't care enough to code switch.

he used to tease his parents for their 4 p.m. chai habits and call it unhealthy but would pick it up during the first war. just a reminder of normality in the chaos and would give a moment with loved ones. he finally understood why his parents always had their chai and biscuits out in the garden, at 4 p.m.

his mum would insist on oiling his hair (to somehow manage the messy mop on his head) during holidays. he'd fight back hard but give in when she threatened to do it with magic. (he'd be super relaxed cause of the massaging but will never admit). he misses that later and cries hard into lily's shoulder one day, when she casually rubs his scalp in a way it reminds him of his mother (and how she'd never oil his head now!)

Dharmapuri is a pilgrimage and archaeological site in Telangana (not to be confused with many other villages and towns in India that are named as Dharmapuri). 

Dharmapuri of Telangana is a large village (small town) located on the west bank of Godavari river in the Jagtial district at its border with the Mancherial district.

It is home to several historic Hindu temples. These temples were damaged and a few destroyed in the 14th and 15th-centuries conquest of Deccan region, with one temple converted into a mosque by Rustumdikhan in the mid 15th-century during the Islamic rule of this region from Hyderabad. A new main temple was rebuilt by the Hindus after the 15th-century and re-dedicated to Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. It serves as the primary pilgrimage attraction of Dharmapuri.

The temple finds mention in the 10th-century Puranic tourist guide Dharmapuri Kshetra Mahatmya, as well as in the Padma Purana and Brahmanda Purana. The site's significance and temple fame is mentioned in a Kurikyala inscription by Chalukyas of Vemulavada. Believed to be a major Vedic studies and manuscripts preservation center in antiquity and called one of the Dakshina Kashi, it has been a major Vaishnava pilgrimage site, considered as one of nine Narasimha pilgrimage centers (devasthanam) in the Deccan region. Narasimha is one of the major avatars of Vishnu, one particularly popular in Deccan (Telangana, Andhra, east Maharashtra), in Karnataka and in northern Tamil speaking regions of India.

The Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple has two major gopurams, the Pedda Gopuram being the primary. After the entrance is the damaged four pillared pavilion (kalyanamandapam) , which is from the Kakatiya era. The pillars are intricately carved with Hindu legends about Vishnu, as well those of Shaiva and Shakti traditions of Hinduism. There are bands of cultural scenes, Hindu festivals, kama and artha scenes as well.

The temple architecture is Dravidian, and illustrates the Hindu temple architecture found in vastu sastra texts. It includes a square temple water tank, called the Brahma pushkarini (Brahma koneru).

The temple hosta a major 13-day festival every March-April. It is called the Brahmotsavalu. This attracts numerous regional Hindus to the pilgrimage site.

Tamil Nadu celebrates Karthigai Deepam as the traditional festival. It is a very old festival and is also celebrated in the neighboring states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. This festival is very important among the Tamils and every Tamil want to celebrate it wherever they are in this huge world.The full moon day of this Karthigai month is called Karthigai pournami. In Kerala, this festival is known as Thrikkarthika, celebrate to welcome Goddess Karthiyayeni (Chottanikkara Amma)Bhagavathi. In the rest of India, a related festival called Kartik Purnima is celebrated in a different date. It is celebrated in the name of 'Lakshabba' in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. The name of the festival born from the name of the god Kartikeya. In Tamil calendar the name of this month is called as Kārthikai. In Telugu households of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karthika Maasalu (month) is considered very auspicious. The Kartika month starts on the day of Deepawali. From that day till the end of the month, oil lamps are lit every day. On Karthika Puranam (full moon of Kartheeka month) oil lamp with 365 wicks, prepared at home, are lit in Lord Shiva temples. Apart from that, Kartika Puranam is read and fasting is observed till sunset, every day for the whole month. Swaminarayan Sampraday also celebrates this day with faith and fervor.
