what kind of magical creatures do you think odazai would be? i know that for dazai everyone kinda agrees on vampire, and there are a ton of demon/devil comparitions in the animanga+ln but i think a ghost or an angel would fit better, as for oda the first thing that comes to mind is a prophet or a demigod, but someone who ascends to godhood would also fit him imo, idk what do you think? also how would they fall for eachother in that world?
Ooh that's a fun question, thank you!
Hmm, i really like the official arts with Dazai as a Kitsune/fox spirit, it really fits his nature. The Mayoi card where he's a Tengu is also fire, I could see him as either. I agree that the demon imagery is a bit overused. I also just read a beautiful doujin where he's a ghost, so yeah that would work as well.
Odasaku is a bit harder to figure out for me... in the official art he's an Inugami/dog spirit, that fits him well enough. I could definitely also see him as a ghost, since he is haunting the narrarive of bsd so competently hehe. I also once came up with an AU where he becomes Dazai's guardian angel after his death... should probably write that sometime.
Personally I think the tragedy of odazai is that they fall for each other in every world but never get to be together 🥲

First attempt of posting painted doodles without the ‘upload error’ warning: @queen0fm0nsterz ’s ‘Ladies of The Maw’ theory, which I love so so much because it makes so much sense omg
With the extra sub-idea of them all wearing duck onesies and possibly having a sleepover [and looking for a midnight snack]
[god bless whatever poor soul they intend to strike and feast upon]

@queen0fm0nsterz here’s that line-up I promised! Below the cut are my personal headcanons for each Lady!
Fox
-A powerful seer and diviner
-She/Her
-Discovered the Maw and renovated it into a safe haven for the children
-Mostly let the children roam freely around the Maw
-Adored children
-Spent the most time with the children out of any Lady
-Died horribly (Tengu broke open her skull and ate her brain)
-Tried to use her powers to break the loop but failed
-Let herself die in a way
-Foresaw the end of the cycle with the Seventh Lady
-Cottagecore Lesbian vibes
-Regularly wrote letters to Hexa and tried to make up with him
Tengu
-The cruellest of any Lady
-Turned the Maw into a Prison after she took over in an attempt to save herself from Fox’s fate
-Was the most hated Lady
-Second-tallest, next to Teapot
-Most violent; commonly known for carrying around a katana which she wasn’t afraid to use
-Never let anyone see her face
-Used many of the children as servants who she treated slightly better than the ones in the Prison
-Started the tradition of honoring the masks of previous Ladies in a ceremony
-A prolific inventor
-A good liar and actor
-Created the Security Eyes
-Was the first Lady to create Nomes
-Bisexual
-She/He
-Was the one who betrayed Tetra, not Scarecrow
-Older than Scarecrow by 4 years
Scarecrow
-The shortest of the Ladies
-Was almost never seen outside of the Residence
-Most of her Kimonos were a size too big (baggy clothes comforted her)
-Used to be close with Tengu but by the time she usurped her, they both HATED each other
-Very timid and relied on the Wax Bellman for support
-Had frequent non-verbal periods
-Panromantic Demisexual
-She/They
-Physically very weak
-Stayed in contact with Tetra, who liked her
-Was the one who started the Library
-Almost never interacted with the children
-Tried to make conditions better for everyone on the Maw, but ultimately failed
-Created a massive network of secret passageways around the Maw (in case she needed a quick retreat to the Residence in a stressful situation)
-Discovered Fox’s prophecy about the cycle and actively searched for the next child in the succession
-Each child was tested in a gauntlet similar to the events of LN without their knowledge
-The first child to survive the gauntlet would be the next Lady
-Was suicidal, which was why she set up the gauntlet (She wanted to be with her sister and make up)
-Actively encouraged Teapot to eat her in her last moments
Teapot
-The tallest of the Ladies
-The most comfortable with having her face visible
-Survived Scarecrow’s gauntlet because of her craftiness and ingenuity
-Liked to move around
-Very fidgety
-Omnisexual
-She/He/They
-Loved exploring the Maw (She never hated the Maw, only the fact that she couldn’t leave it)
-Interacted with staff/guests/children the most
-Improved conditions for the children drastically
-Could often be found traversing the hidden areas of the Maw
-Also discovered Fox’s prophecy, but didn’t believe it
-Often broke her mask
-Became angry and bitter towards the end of her life
-Hated being trapped inside the Maw and desperately wanted to leave
-Desperately searched for a way out, but was unsuccessful
-Eventually turned to Fox’s prophecy in an attempt to be free once and for all
-Carefully orchestrated Rascal’s escape from the Prison, but wasn’t involved in her journey otherwise
-Didn’t even try to fight back against Rascal and happily accepted her fate
Rascal
-The second-cruellest Lady, next to Tengu
-Cursed by the Mirror Monster, leaving her unable to perceive her true beauty in mirrors
-Deliberately reversed the improvements Teapot made for the children (she had the same thought process as Tengu)
-As a substitute for mirrors, she commissioned many statues and paintings of herself
-Was kind and cordial to staff and guests
-Didn’t like the fact that she had to worsen conditions for the children
-Actually adores children and cared for any she found
-Had two biological daughters: the Pretender and Six
-The Pretender was her only legitimate child (She had Six with the Hanging Man)
-Had the Pretender and Six sent to the Nest (The Pretender to be groomed into becoming the next Lady in an attempt to break the loop, and Six so that she wouldn’t be the next child in the loop)
-Very adamantly fought back against Six and the rest of the escapees
-Made the most Nomes
-Tried to quell escaping children in an attempt to catch Six, but failed
-Definitely hatefucked the Thin Man at least once
-Bisexual and Intersex
-She/Her
Rabbit/Usagi/Six
-Slowly improved conditions for the children of the Maw
-Was very kind to the staff
-Remained in contact with Mono
-Chose her mask because it was ironic
-Was the first Lady to revert Nomes back into children
-Also discovered Fox’s prophecy, which she shared with Mono
-Coordinated with Mono to help Seven and Null on their journey, knowing it would break the loop
-Was cruel and violent towards the guests
-Was seen as a protector by the children
-Biromantic and Demisexual
-She/they

edit: @yagirlyacchan has brought to my attention that the original 2017 LN release of nr-001 came with tune at dawn and clair’s wish. as of the update, it’s confirmed that the crafting order will include those, NOT singing phoenix and red shoes. sorry for the potential misinformation. i went from both NI and some imgur screenshots from other servers
Return Craft Cost Estimates for NR-001
Under the cut is information that isn’t correct for LN server. Before the cut is updated info. I’ve left the incorrect breakdown on here for a visual--replace the materials in parentheses with items from Clair’s Wish. Because LN uses different suits, the price on LN is about 200 dia greater.* Materials not in parentheses are still correct. (E.g., she still requires Sweetie, Athena’s Armor Purple, Fashion Pioneer Boy, Multicolor Scarf, Water Pearl, and Noble Necklace, as well as all the same items that cost gold, in all the same amounts.)
Crafting is tiered, but doesn’t require completing the previous suit in order to work on the next one. This means you don’t have to finish all of Tune at Dawn to work on a specific piece of Clair’s Wish, and you don’t have to finish all of Clair’s Wish in order to work on a specific piece of NR-001. (So if you only want Hologram Communicator, for example, as far as dia-cost materials, all you need is Clair’s pattern pack, 4 Fashion Pioneer Boy, 1 Dusk Shadow, 1 Boots in Snow, 1 Musical Stockings, 3 Fresh Socks, 1 Floating Dream Island, and 3 Fallen Leaves. It’s a little steep to have to buy the pattern pack if you only want one piece of NR-001 and don’t want any parts of Clair, but it’s better than having to buy the entire previous two suits, or craft NR-001 chronologically like Zashiki+Tengu.)
As of 2020.05.11, NR-001 is craftable, and requires Clair’s Wish and Tune at Dawn to craft.
Clair’s Wish and Tune at Dawn together cost about 1555 dia for V0, as well as 450 dia for the patterns in the User Shop.
Once you have those two suits, NR-001 itself costs 1500 dia.
If you need to buy/craft all three suits, NR-001 will cost 3505 dia.
N.B. NR-001 can be cheaper than this: Some things like Fashion Pioneer Boy can be Princess farmed (e.g., those can drop from 5-1 and 7-S2 for free, if you’re patient). I’m pretty sure at least one of them is a possible Pavilion drop, too. Most notably is Hologram Communicator, which besides the cost of Clair’s boots and hosiery, can be dia-free.
I stuck the info under a cut that’s now incorrect for LN, for those who’re curious.
* When I say CN NR-001 is 200 cheaper than LN NR-001, I mean “Red Shoes + Singing Phoenix” would have been that much cheaper than “Tune at Dawn + Clair’s Wish.” Once you have the two required tiered suits, no matter which server you’re on, LN-001 still costs 1500.
(Possible) Return Craft Costs for NR-001
If it follows the crafting order of other servers, NR-001 will return for crafting on LN server 2020.05.11; along with it, Singing Phoenix (for crafting) and Red Shoes (to the store). I am sure the exact breakdowns have already been posted elsewhere, but I could only find crafting screenshots, not math, so I went ahead and did it myself. (If someone could confirm whether NR-001 and Singing Phoenix have Starlight Store recipes, or if they’ll be added to the Time Diary, that’d be awesome.)
NR-001 requires Singing Phoenix and Red Shoes for tiered crafting. You don’t have to craft the suits to completion in order to work on the higher cost suit(s), but you do have to have parts of Red Shoes for Singing Phoenix, and parts of Singing Phoenix for NR-001. (E.g., if all you want is the posed dress Code-001, you only have to buy Music Box Dance and craft Phoenix Robe to do so.)
If you need to obtain both of the lower-cost suits, NR-001 will cost you 3345 dia and 548643 gold.
If you already have Singing Phoenix and Red shoes (I often see them in the Secret Shop), NR-001 will only cost you 1500 dia and 121515 gold.
If you have Red Shoes and not Singing Phoenix, NR-001 will cost you 2534 dia and 429883 gold.
If you have Singing Phoenix and not Red Shoes, NR-001 will cost you 2311 dia and 240275 gold.
Additionally, for the lower-tier suits, in case you don’t want NR-001:
If you have Red Shoes and want Singing Phoenix, it’ll cost you 1034 dia and 308368 gold.
If you don’t have Red Shoes and want Singing Phoenix, it’ll cost you 1845 dia and 427128 gold.
If you only want Red Shoes, she’s 811 dia and 118760 gold.
* These costs may vary slightly, because several crafting items are also level drops and able to be pulled from pavilions. I also realize I forgot the 48000 gold for crafting Singing Phoenix, and the 48000 gold for crafting NR-001. (8000 per piece.) And again, I don’t know for certain whether they’re Time Diary recipes, so they might also cost Star Coins.

Onmyoji and Tengu Eyes - LN 3
Onmyoji and Tengu Eyes Vol. 3: The Call of the Roaring Waves by Utamine, Yoshiko, art by Kazuki, Yone. Published by Cross Infinite World.
Third volume of this fun series! Volume 2 was focused on Misato's past, and this one focuses on Ryouji's, after a sizeable diversion in the beginning of the book dealing with an argument between Misato and Shirota (his spiritual familiar snake).
There are more emotional developments this volume, and it was even more touching than the previous books. I was really invested in the main conflict, and Misato shows off more of his awesome powers!
Poor Ryouji really gets put through the ringer in this book, and he ends up having to be saved. Between Volume 1 and 3, he's really shaping up to be a cute damsel in distress (LOL).
There's not a whole lot I can mention since it's basically all spoilers, but I'm interested to see where this series goes from here. The characters have both worked through their troubled pasts by the end of this volume, so any future books will need to lean heavier on the actual cases the two deal with.
I wouldn't be mad if there weren't any further books (everything gets wrapped up satisfactorily), but I would love another book, if only so that we get more time with Ryouji and Misato working together and acting like an old married couple.

I have a question - I've seen some suits referred to as 'Princess suits' because of how much it takes to craft them and was wondering if there was a list of which ones are considered such? Is Tengu one of them? Thanks!
So, I think there might be two things being referenced here, so I’m going to explain both. Please let me know if neither of these answers your questions. (And apologies for the length; I’m overly verbose.)
So, in my experience, a “Princess suit” would refer to a suit that you get by only doing Princess levels and are almost always ones that require evolution to complete. (Princess levels being the ones where you only get 3 attempts a day.) I’ve personally never seen it used to reference Tengu or another suit that costs a lot of diamonds but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t people who refer to them as such; just that in the circles I inhabit (a few tumblrs dedicated to LN and the LN reddit), this isn’t a term I’ve seen used in this specific way. As far as I know, Tengu and those that cost huge amounts of diamonds don’t have a fan term yet, though now that you’ve pointed it out, there really should be a name for them other than *cries at diamond cost*.
The reason they may be talking about Princess level evolution suits is because these can take a while. A lot of them require 21 items to evolve it to its final form. Since you usually only get 1 drop from 3 attempts (sometimes 0 or 2), it can take 21 days (give or take a few days depending on your luck) to complete a Princess evolution suit. [Chocolate Housemaid] is one example of a Princess evolution suit, another is [Cowboy Style]. In general, though, any item that requires high amounts of Princess drops is going to take a while to complete due to their low drop rate.
Which all leads me to “lifetime suits” which is what you may have seen referenced? Generally, when I see people talking about a suit that takes an absurd amount of time and materials to craft, it’s almost always a lifetime suit. A lifetime suit is specifically a suit that takes a long time to craft; we’re talking months and months, not just weeks. For example, [Grice] requires 216 (that’s not a typo, it’s seriously 216) [Feast] to complete; since [Feast] is only dropped from a Princess level, that means that assuming you get 1 [Feast] a day, it will take you 7.5 months to complete (you will probably get more than 1 a day, this is just a very rough estimate). It also takes 2,376 diamonds, 346 crystal shoes, and an absurd amount of gold. As you can see, not only is it time-consuming, it’s very very expensive. Now, not all lifetimes suits are this insane; I’m using this one as an example so you can see how insane it can get. (You might be seeing a lot of talk about lifetime suits because we’re getting a brand new lifetime suit, which I preview and talk about in this post, which also includes a spreadsheet that talks about the cost in detail.)
As for lists, Witheringspoons over on reddit has put together an absolutely beautiful list of all evolution suits in game which include those that I, personally, would call Princess suits. (It says “Part 1″ but I can’t find a part 2 so I believe they just updated the original post.) For lifetime suits, there are actually only three “real” ones in the game: [Star Sea], [Stunning Beauty], and [Grice]. [Black Swan] is often referred to as a mini-lifetime suit but isn’t considered a “real” one. And, of course, as mentioned above, we’re getting a brand new lifetime suit soon, often referred to by fans as Icy Wind (as far as I’m aware, no one knows the official name yet).
I hope this answered your question! If it doesn’t, just send another ask with some more information and I’ll do my best to answer. (On a related note, on the Chinese server they recently added the ability to search for suits based on if they’re evolved, if they require a piece from one of the pavilions, if they came with a chapter, etc. I’m personally hoping we get it soon.)
