So in Star Trek, the Klingons had Coffee, more specifically a type known as Raktajino, which had become popular outside the Empire by 2256. I want to know how Klingon's came into contact with coffee and what happened when they did. Like I know they were likely like "Holy shit this is baller, but you know what would take this up to 11? Making it strong enough to kill God!"

Also Coffee had, like, major effects on world history. Like major fucking effects. Businesses like Lloyds of London, The London Stock Exchange, and the East India Company started as Coffee houses. Coffee played a part in the Enlightenment, the development of Sufism, The French, American, and Haitian Revolutions, the Slave trade including why Brazil didn't ban slavery until 1888, various literary and philosophical movements, the American Civil War, you name it, it effected it. So what effect did it have on Klingon Society? What did an alternative to Bloodwine that didn't get you blind fucking drunk and actually hightened your senses do to Klingon Society?

So here's my headcanon: sometime between the Enterprise era and the start of Discovery, someone brought Coffee to Qo'nos, they were all "holy shit this is baller" and it lead to a lot of art, story telling, a boost to technology and a lot of philosophy. This lead to a cultural shift that pissed off the conservatives in Klingon Society who believed this new fangled Terran drink was eroding "what it means to be Klingon" (aka, the powerstructures they relied on). That whole existential crisis lead to T'Kuvma's movement, gathering up a load of Klingons who "didn't fit" with traditional Klingon Society (like Voq) which started a war which brought even more people to T'Kuvma's side.

In short:

Introducing Coffee to the Klingons started the Federation-Klingon War of 2256.

1. What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?

Be annoying a do crime? lol Ehhhh don't really have one. Though Rod (MC) does muse at the end:

My mother survives through me because I choose to remember her traditions. Whenever it is that I truly die, I will only live as long as my stories do. Beings, Terrans and otherwise, are easily forgotten. Stories and traditions are not. I guess that’s all any of us can truly strive for.

So...ig if there's a lesson of Abracadabra it's to make your story a good one? As in one that you like and are proud to have been a part of, one that those close to you will want to tell and close to them will want to tell, etc etc

2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?

I'd say 'not a lot' but in all honesty I took inspiration from probably a thousand different things and each bit was a thought or idea or small detail or something similar, and so I can't point to one thing and say 'yes, this inspired the world of Abracadabra'. Plus it's set on modern-day earth, so...I feel like the snippets of inspiration would be evident to those who watch/read the same things I do, lol

3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, and help readers grow as a person?

We both have very simple aims; to be entertained, to tell a good story, and to maybe play a trick or two.

4. How many chapters is your story going to have?

Right now it's standing at 29. I was hoping to get it up to at least 30 initially, and hopefully with the re-write I'll manage to get it up there. If for no other reason that to make it a nice round number, lol

5. Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

Original content. I plan to self-pub once it's done, but...I dunno, I'm entertaining other options. I mean I'm still going to self-pub once it's done, but I'm waffling between doing things like putting up done chapters on Tumblr. I also entertained the idea of using Neocities to make a blog where you can read all the stuff for free, using Substack for chapter releases before publishing, posting on Royal Road...etc.

6. When and why did you start writing?

In general? I started writing when I was 12 (I think, may have been before that) and it was legitimately reading Lloyd Alexander and thinking, "can I do this? Can I write like this?" and no one told me I couldn't, so I did. And now here we are.

For Abracadabra? I think I started writing it in 2016 as a part of a trilogy where each book followed a different MC with one large overlapping plotline so you got to see what the others were doing when they ran into a different MC. And said trilogy started because I began working with my dad (one of my biggest fantasy/storytelling influences) in my first actual collab. We were about halfway through the first book when he got diagnosed with cancer. By the time I got to the third book (now Abracadabra) I was on my own and felt I needed to finish the story. Possibly why Abracadabra has the 'lesson' about our lives being stories that live in other's hands.

7. Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers on Tumblr do you follow?

My dad had a saying. "I didn't cheat, I used all my resources to the best of my ability."

While hilarious and also said to cover up the fact that he was, in fact, cheating (and I can hear him saying that to me now, because he insisted to his dying day that it's not cheating and it's a mantra I'll adopt at opportune moments) man was also a genius, observant, and hacking computer systems in high school. In the 70s. So when we accused him of cheating on computer games, what he was saying in a hilarious and quippy way was "I figured out how to reprogram the game to bring my desires of how I want this game into the parameters of how it functions because I that is a thing I know how to do."

Point being, to other writeblrs...don't be afraid to use all your resources to the best of your ability. Cheat the hell out of the system.

Also back up all your digital shit. Save it in at least three different places, make sure one of them is in an offline format or - even better - an offline removable format (like a portable hard drive or usb, or even written down on physical paper). My first book took two years longer than it was supposed to because the laptop I was using crashed two days after I finished the first draft and three years of work went down the drain and the only thing I had left was about three pages of a cut scene I wrote in the middle of history class. I had to rebuild it from memory.

I mean, it turned out better I think, because I had at least three years of writing experience to build off of at that point and that's also likely why it went faster, but I also had a panic attack when it happened and that wasn't fun.

Also the writeblrs I follow tend to be a) ones that followed me first and b) ones that I looked at and went 'oh yes, I can be friends with this person' (usually because I have begun reblogging a bunch of stuff because it made me laugh or think or nod along or I agree with it or thought it was interesting or). Not always in that order, tho lol more of a social follower ig.

I just want to first say I am pleasantly thrilled to find your letter, I was not expecting to hear from you. I am unsure if I should feel flattered or not that browsing quivers makes you want to conduct more business opportunities with me, yet I can't help but find myself curious on what you have in mind. Day 5 at the World’s Faire Carnival

As we made our way down into the faire this night, a wild Talimas and Aldswelle were the first we came upon! 

We finally got to visit the Darkmoon’s Finest where we purchased some lovely stones to go together in a vase we have at home. While there however we crossed paths with a delightful patron who built an owl with us at the Howling Owl Fest’s Untamed Night! Cartery and his interestingly delightful drunken crab companion!

I admire the Darkmoon’s Finest and all their performances they do every year I hope we can find time to see one before this week’s end! So much to do and so little time it always seems!

Well well lookie here! We found someone during the Meet and Greet that we just HAD to get a photo with and show off our glorious radiant suns! Lor'themar Theron seemed to quite enjoy our good hair!!

While in line to see the amazing Ephemeral Hazella we yet again came across dear friend Cartery! We had such a lovely chat and then we were spotted by @sirensdxn Ra’hsen. The dear friend that he is was a warm welcome to our growing line of friends!

Spotted by @fyrrefly we welcomed her into the fold as well while we all waited and connected with each other spreading the love and warmth as new friends were made!

I then came across this lovely fellow whom I finally got to meet! Mr. @terranlloyd​ I had seen him around all faire but never had the chance to shake his hand. We are now official chaps of the Hat Club!

We simply had to pay another visit tot he Pastry Goddess herself @lightsong-legacy I just love her wine pops so much and her savory treats! Not too sweet but still wonderful. As always, Jeff was so kind!

Talthorn had a special request for her too! But that is something to be revealed at a later date!

We then finally had the honor to meet the Winner of Diced!! Zame’Ki himself!

He was happy to make me his pterrodax kebob and my tummy could NOT have been happier!

You are missing out if you are a fan of kebobs at all or a unique flavor in life. Two thumbs up for this five star Chef of the Oasis!

We even got a chance to see the beautiful Dara once more as she showed us off her live painting done for her by the amazing @irishmoo​ - she painted her just as beautiful as she was in reality. 

Our night came to an end as we enjoyed our food and a warm cuddle session with our dear Ra’hsen. 

Sharing moments like these while we reflected on our night just has a way to soothe the soul.

The scenery of this chosen faire location is quite beautiful. 

Oh look! Some carp came to grace our dear reverend with some nibbles on his toes. 

Just as we were off to say our goodnights, we had one last surprise visit from Callyanne. Gifting us with a basket of her wines, pastries and more as an act of kindness. We truly can not wait to learn more of this delightful woman.

And of course we had to share our cookies with Dara so she could have one last snack before the kind healer and medic went to sleep herself.  @wfc-official​

Terran Gets Owned By Demons, Act I: Demons are Unbreakable.

It was a normal day in Stormwind. The Stormwind City Watch were using their misappropriated tax funds to buy a water ski. The water ski was blue and gold and said “Raiz taxez” on the side of it because they wanted enough money to buy one for everyone on the guard.

“Um, this is wrong.” Terran said showing up with his nightstick. He had just finished using it to smack around some potted plants that were out of line. He broke them. This was his justice.

“Stormwind Law Paragraph B part 2 section 9 level 4 CUH-LEARLY states that the guard will NOT buy a water ski and ask for high taxes.” He yelled at all of the cadets and all of the privates (lol, privates) and all of the sergeants and even a few other animals and stuff that were just minding their own business. One was probably a druid.

All of the guards cried all at once and marched inside to do PT. 100 sit ups, 100 push ups, and 100 Lloydies. You don’t want to know what Lloydies are.

“Boo, hoo!” They all cried. Terran Lloyd was outside though. He was a Knight now and he was using his power to have the water ski all to himself. The Knight-Captains were in sensitivity training that day because they said demons were bad and had to be reeducated. Terran Lloyd did not go, he cited Stormwind Law Paragraph G Part 9: Anyone who has a hat cannot go indoors, therefore entry into a room is unjust, so sayeth the law.

“Fucking sweet.” Terran Lloyd said really loudly. That was his catchphrase. When he was knighted he yelled at it Tatterbum and Morrowgroan. That’s what he called them by the way. He was kind of a tyrant.

Anyway, so Terran lloyd was on his water ski and was thinking about getting a pontoon boat just for his hat. Why not, he was almost king anyway. That’s when the demons showed up.

“Oh no!” Terran Lloyd crowed. “Not the demons, they’re going to fuck my plans up.” He loved saying the F word almost as much as he loved the shush word. He was the one who empowered that curse by the way. “Don’t kick my ass or I’ll throw you in jail along with your smart, intelligent, kind, wholesome, rich, pretty, tall, stylish, superior boss. Why? I am jealous.”

“Please reconsider.” Stimmy said. She was that boss that was just mentioned BTW. “Actually, don’t.”

So the demons kicked Terran Lloyd out of Stormwind and they were all given the rank of Knight-Manager, something Terran Lloyd wouldn’t see because he was currently living like a wild man in Stranglethorn. No one would recognize him, he was crazy and ate berries.

Incinerate

Jerimoth had never wanted to vaporize someone so badly in his life.

No. That wasn’t right. Terran didn’t deserve to be incinerated. It would be too quick and merciful.

Something agonizingly slow would be more appropriate. He could fill his veins to the brim with Fel. Or call his felhounds to slowly drain him of his magic until he folded into a withered husk. Perhaps even open a portal in his tiny brain, growing just ever so slightly until it consumed him from the inside.

The pleasant imagery flashed through his mind while he was forced to smile and make small talk with the Sergeant. Jerimoth stayed true to form, chipper and positive like a good little priest. It was humiliating. He had even blessed him with the Light, Masters’ sake.

He ground his teeth as Terran turned his back to leave. A perfect opportunity ripe for the taking... but it was not his decision to make. The whispers were the only thing stopping him from lunging at him. “It is not the right time. Have patience.” The Sergeant would have to meet his fate another day. They all would, in the end.

“It is only a matter of time.”
