Inspiration Sunday?

My allergies have been ruining my life the last week and shit has been busy in real life, so I haven't had much time or mental energy to write.

BUT the video of the Diaz parents on set at the same time as Buck, Eddie, and Chris, coupled with the pictures of the actress who plays Shannon on set, inspired me to outline a fic that could end up being a beast - here's a little snippet from the first chapter.

“Morning,” Eddie gets out of bed and makes his way to the bathroom, kissing Shannon on the cheek as he passes her. When he looks in the mirror his breath catches in his chest because he looks older than he remembers. His temples have streaks of gray and there are lines around his mouth that he doesn’t remember, but the most jarring thing is the lack of lines around his eyes, like he hasn’t smiled enough to have earned them.  He finishes brushing his teeth and takes a piss before grabbing an Advil hoping it can fix his still aching head. When he pokes his head into Chris’s room he finds it empty, a full bed replacing the twin that he remembers. The room doesn’t look lived in, it’s too neat and tidy for his messy teenager of a son. “Where’s Chris?” Eddie asks when he walks into the kitchen. Everything feels slightly to the left, like it’s his life but through a fun house mirror. He still feels odd looking at Shannon, a weird sense of grief washing over him that he doesn’t understand.  “Probably at his apartment,” Shannon gave him a funny look as she poured herself a cup of coffee.  “His apartment?” “How hard did you hit your head yesterday?” Now she looks mildly concerned.

Make Me Write Stuff

After a couple months of well-intentionedly planning to write and Not doing it, I have decided to try the nuclear option.

✨For every note this post gets, I will write 1 word on my WIP. ✨

(I will be disregarding comments for the purposes of note counting. Spamming is too easy that way.)

But there's a catch:

Every week on Sunday, at 10pm EST, I will subtract the week's word count from the week's notes, and if there is any overflow on the side of the notes, I will post excerpts equaling that number of words (from past writing and/or material written that week).

Tease Tidbit Tuesday

the writing beans have returned from war, but not for any of my existing wips. Enjoy this little tease from my (second) Buddie NHL AU. This one is (hopefully) going to be short and smutty (the short part might be a lie, I'm at 2k and haven't started the smut).

Buck would like it on record that he didn’t go looking for the video of Eddie’s fight with Jonah Greenway because he didn’t even know Eddie had gotten in a fight with Jonah Greenway. Ravi sent the video into the group chat with the comment that “Fans are weirdly horny over fights” and no other context.  If Eddie had been home Buck probably wouldn’t have watched it or maybe they would have watched it together for a laugh, but Eddie was still at practice and Buck was alone in the Diaz house where he’d spent the last month recovering. He was bored, he figured watching a fan edited video of a fight would be fine.  The video started with a title card that said “Buddie is real” and a clip of the hit that had ended Buck’s season. He’d seen the hit a few times now, but he wasn’t sure why Ravi had mentioned a fight. The video cut to Eddie throwing his stick and gloves onto the ice and shoving Greenway away from Buck before dropping to his knees and carefully cupping Buck’s face in his hands.  He was hit with a sudden memory of that moment, of the way he hurt so much but he felt safe because Eddie was there. He couldn’t hear what Eddie was saying in the video, but he remembered Eddie making him feel safe. The next cut showed Eddie and Ravi, but mostly Eddie, helping Buck off the ice.

"So." Karen begins, pulling Hen's attention from the book she's been trying to read for the past week. She quirks an eyebrow at her wife, "So?" "So my boss's son's, partner broke their leg Tuesday after tripping over their 15 year old terrier." Karen explains and Hen can't help but look back towards where Paisley is lounging on the arm chair (Hen's favorite seat that she has lost to that sassy fur ball) with worry. Her wife chuckles reading Hen's internal concern, "Babe, Paisley is as pure bred as they come. We'll be lucky if she makes it to 10." "That pure bred survived an earthquake and a collapsed building. I wouldn't put it past her to make it way past 10 out of spite alone.” Hen remarks, turning back to Karen. Karen rolls her eyes, but gets back on topic, "Anyway. Harris, that's the partner, got their hands on some passes to that super exclusive gay club, The Green Carnation for this Friday." "You mean the place that runs a background check rivaling the FBI, makes every patron sign NDA's, and will blacklist a person from every gay bar from here to Vegas if they break said NDA? The place that is rumored to host not only out celebrities, but also the deeply closeted, tilt the world on it's axis if they ever came out, big names? That gay club?" Hen questions, her excitement starting to rise. Her very sexy and somehow very connected wife smirks, "The very one. And poor Harris just can't fathom trying to hop around on one leg and not drink thanks to their newly acquired pain meds. So they had their partner-" "Your boss's son." Hen remembers, leaning towards Karen, who instinctually gets closer as well. "Karson, with a K, starts to asks around his dads work because you know, we're literal rocket scientist working on very classified information." "Who better to invite to a secret club than those who work on secret projects." "Exactly." Karen's smirk becomes wicked (and very sinful), "And wouldn't you know, the only non-straight and married person around is yours truly." Hen honest to go squeals, loud and bubbling with elation, "You got us passes to The Green Carnation?!" "With a pre-paid drink package. All we have to do is agree to the background check and sign the NDA." Karen replies with a broad grin. Hen can no longer hold herself back and practically tackles her wife with a teeth clattering kiss. Karen, as always, catches her and kisses back 110%. ("So, my 48 off falls on the weekend." Eddie states and he takes notice of Buck's sly grin forming, his boyfriend most likely on the same train of thought, "And since it's still your bye week..." "You want to dance the night away with other secret gays." Evan finishes. Eddie smirks, "And get a private room blow job." The quarterback's smile is almost feral like, "I'll make the reservation." And Eddie watches Buck tap on the contact Florists with the green clover next to it. The phone rings twice before a deep voice comes through the speaker, "State your member id." "Buckley, 201-09-18." "Diaz, 201-09-19." A quick moment of silence, then, "What can The Green Carnation do for you today Mr. Buckley and Mr. Diaz?")

Hmm... Is a certain run in going to happen???? We'll see!!! Hope you all enjoyed!
