Wills for Foreigners in Turkey. The preparation of wills by foreigners in Turkey is subject to both national and international legal regulations. There are several important points and procedures to consider for foreigners who wish to make a will in Turkey:
Types of Wills
In Turkey, a will can be prepared in three ways:
- Holographic Will: The person writes the will entirely in their own handwriting, dates, and signs it.
- Official Will: Prepared before a notary public or a civil court judge in the presence of two witnesses.
- Oral Will: Can be made verbally in the presence of two witnesses in emergency situations.
Testamentary Capacity of Foreigners
The capacity of a foreigner to make a will in Turkey is determined according to the person’s national law (the law of the country of their citizenship). However, if the person is residing in Turkey or has immovable property in Turkey, the will may need to be prepared in accordance with Turkish law.
Compliance with Turkish Law
- Property Status: Foreigners who own immovable property in Turkey can include these assets in their wills.
- Formal Requirements: For the will to be valid, it must be prepared in accordance with the formal requirements set forth by the Turkish Civil Code. If the will is made abroad, it may need to be notarized to be recognized in Turkey.
International Law and Foreign Court Decisions
- The validity of wills made by foreigners in Turkey may also be assessed according to international agreements or international law.
- If a foreigner has made a will in another country, the recognition or enforcement of that will in Turkey may require approval by Turkish courts.

Reading The Testaments right now and god it's so inspiring. Like, the world that she's imagined it's absolutely horrid but it's nothing that's currently impossible to do.
The way the society of Gilead manufactures consent through the most brutal means available, with no remorse, none of it feels inhuman, none of it feels too bombastic to imagine. It's terrifying in its realness, its bluntness. I think it's a book too many would dismiss on the grounds of not wanting to fuel a culture war but, this the world radical feminists want.
It's a world dominated by patriarchy but with a different set of laws for women which are manufactured, by other women. It's all forced but the way they frame it as "saving the lives and virtues of young girls" which just echoes so much of terf sentiment.
I want to expand on these ideas further, maybe even write my own text just because I think there's so much to mine in that, and how it can be used to put certain uncomfortable ideas we have in society in the spotlight.

The large majority of quarterbacks who transfer do so with immediate playing time in mind. And, yeah, NIL money. This is how the modern market works in college football. Both players and coaches are looking for the quick fix.
But one look at the 2023 Heisman Trophy finalists tells you that the second season after a transfer is often the bigger payoff. Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix…

You’d be surprised how quickly the mind goes soggy in the absence of other people. One person alone is not a full person: we exist in relation to others. I was one person: I risked becoming no person.
