#hah so I survived the first week of the new semester! this painting was done during an especially uninteresting lecture when I couldn't #bring myself to pay full attention to it. so I decided to doodle something instead ┐⁠(⁠‘⁠～⁠`⁠;⁠)⁠┌#this is definitely not my usual style but I felt like doing some inking again and playing textures and brushes that I'm not used to #(normally I use only three brushes - 6b pencil. square pastel. wet marker XD)#i found out that limiting my options is often the reasonable thing to do but sometimes it's also nice to experiment and go crazy x'D #but now my brain hurts from all the frustration from finishing this painting -recognizing when to stop sometimes proves to be a challenge XD #mayhem art #hiw should I tag this??#dream of the endless #i suppose... i mean I strayed a lot and idk what the story behind this one is anymore #dreamling #if you believed me that this is dream then you surely agree that it must be Hob who's braiding Dream's hair right?

Neira - She's not a sword user exactly but while they were in Orzammar her companions insisted she get herself a proper quality melee weapon, right here, direct from Orzammar. Well crafted and durable - and enchanted by Sandal, of course!

Noya - Good old simple, reliable dagger. She keeps with her it, even after it's worn enough to not be of much use.

Lilian - Invests in a nice n proper sword after the Deep Roads. Utility is the first priority, but why not be a bit vain and make it fancy, while you're at it?

June - What's the point of a sword if it doesn't look sick and can hold magic runes?? Or, ideally, act as a staff substitute. Not like she has much use for a sword otherwise lol (except to feel cool)

about reth's hairstyle, it's not locs guys alhdg it's a somewhat fantasy-esque hairstyle where his straight hair is long but twisted back and tied to keep it in place. we don't see it in the official art, but his in game model has multiple hair ties throughout the length of the pieces to keep his hair in that style. this hairstyle is doable in real life if you use that many ties

obviously these models don't show every single strand of hair but the official art backs up the fact that it's straight (note the individual strands that are loose)

you can see here that it's straight hair just twisted into individual pieces. you can also see in both the model and art that the end of his hair goes straight down and has clear separated strands. it wouldn't do this if his hair was locd (you'll notice that sifuu and hassian have blunt, round ends to their locs)

his in game model does have some pieces that don't have any ties so it's possible that those are locs but honestly, i doubt it. i'm gonna go out on a limb and say it has more to do with the hair being in the back and not needing as much detail. or the devs didn't want clipping issues since the back pieces are grouped so close together and his ties come up quite a bit. either way, his hair is most likely straight and just in weird ponytails basically. and if it is meant to be locs, then they're modeled badly aldhg especially in comparison to hassian and sifuu

#his modeled hair also doesnt have a texture to it unlike hassian and sifuu #and by texture i mean you can see that their hair is likely in the type 4 range and definitely not straight #personally i think they wanted to give reth longer hair but needed to come up with a style that would keep it out of the way #hence twisted back in weird ponytails #reth #there are also some player hairstyles that are locd and again you can see clear texture and zero straight hair strands #its just like. when you compare reth's hair to the player options and npcs that Definitely have locs there's a noticeable difference #if the devs wanted him to have locs then they modeled it badly #and im not trying to be mean here #if his hair is meant to be locd but originally straight it still wouldnt look the way it does in game #it definitely Looks straight but twisted back in large sections and tied together #which isnt what locd hair looks like.. and the devs clearly know that because the actual locd hairstyles in the game look fine #anyway i just wanted to give my two cents aldhg

Its Always so annoying to me how games will have like... 50 hair options in total and out of them only 8 will be textured hairs. Like ok that's more than 0 yes but c'mon now. We can do a little better than that 😐
