Can you please tell me about the lore of nier automata I really wanna get into it but I haven't found a good video on yt

SPOILERS FOR THE GAME and show too ig

so basically in the game, androids are sent down to earth to fight against the alien created machine lifeforms (main theme)

BECAUSE the humans/counsel of humanity had to go to the moon, they developed androids to fight down on earth but THEN the bunker in earths orbit was made and like all the androids on the earth (normal ppl looking ones) came BEFORE YoRHa (yorha androids are more advanced)

so fast forward to the Pearl Harbor descent (mentioned in game, detailed in the show) where yorha sent a lot of androids down to earth but only 4 survived (G16, S21, A4, and A2) and they met with the local resistance there (the one anemone and lily were part of) and FROM WHAT I KNOW IN THE GAME they all get infected with the logic virus and die EXCEPT for A2 and so since they were all sacrificial lambs and she didn’t die, A2 became known as a fugitive and the E-type androids were sent after her

A2’s type (Attacker) is before the number in her name bc she was a prototype, which is why newer androids have their type after (2B/2E)

so now in game events, 2B and 9S detonate their black boxes in the beginning scene (which counts as one of 9S’ deaths) you will have to do a lot of quests, but the parts that are most important is the desert scene where you fight Adam and Eve, Pascal’s village, amusement park and allat. there WILL be a part in the first playthrough where you have to fight a goliath machine and it’s so hard actually and then after that you fight Adam in the copied city and shit and eve gets pissed and you fight him and then get ending A

(Route B is the same as Route A, just some things are different and you play as 9S instead of 2B)

In route C/D/E it’s ALL new content so after 2B dies you switch from playing as 9S to playing as A2 so yeah woohoo!! 9S goes batshit crazy because he literally watched 2B (someone he considered as family) die in front of him so he wants to kill A2 after that (I think a2 wants to kill HERSELF bro tf)

long story short (short story long /ref), The Tower gets put on the map and there are subunits you have to unlock and once all of those are unlocked, 9S and A2 go to the tower (unaware the other is there) and they meet eachother at the top and they fight (play as A2 for an ending, Play as 9S for the others)

‼️play as A2 first at the tower! You CAN go back and play as 9S for the last 2 main endings! (What I did)

2B is revealed to be 2E, which basically means she has to kill 9S over and over after he finds out the truth about project yorha and every time he dies counts as a reset

A friend had me marathoning the full Yuusha/ Brave anime series, so here's my opinion as a Transformers Fan.

Brave Exkaiser: Most like Transformers. There are space pirates, and the Space Police come to Earth to stop them. Lots of Robot in Disguise stuff. And trains that are twins very cute.

The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird: Is this a pigeon? Similar theme to Exkaiser. But the Space Police leader has an android body. The Guard team is a really fun combiner but the Baron team is wasted.

The Brave Fighter of Legend Da-Garn: Once again aliens are invading, but this time Earth has its own defense. A kid has to find all the Brave Stones to awaken Earth's protectors. It was a solid, good show.

The Brave Express Might Gaine: I really thought I would like this one because Trains, but This could have been a piloted Robo show with very little difference. You would enjoy if you like Gundam type stories. Also the song that plays over Might Gaines transformation drove me batty. Watchable but my least favorite.

Brave Police J-Decker: I know a lot of TF fans have already seen this one. It is one of the best out of the Yuusha series. It has these great moments of being almost a serious cop show. Please watch this, I am not normal about any of these characters.

The Brave of Gold Goldran: Similar plot to Da-Garn with the Stone collecting plot. The animation of the human characters is a wildly different style from the robots. Really gives Children playing with toys vibe to the plot. Cute and fun to watch. Some great Robot characters.

Brave Command Dagwon: Gets a bad rap for not having sentient robots. This is not true. There are two sentient robots and their story brought me to tears. The Power Rangers like main plot was fun, But if you're only in it for the Robots, I do recommend sticking it out they are worth the wait.

The King of Braves GaoGaiGar: Do not watch if you have sensitivity to flashing lights, the main baddy lair is a horrible strobe pit. This show gave me a migraine. It was worth it, though. There's a fun ninja and so many Twin Robots I love them all

Okay very specific robot ramble time:

As I said in my last post I started casshern and I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile but only been pushed back as I was watching Bravern in a group. I *could* have watched casshern on my own but I have a hard time watching two things at once even if one is with a group lol, but that aside, I was thinking about one particular weird thing about my preferences when it came to sentient robots- or sentient mechas in particular.

I found it weird how I love it when robots have sentience but when mechas tackle this approach, I don’t really feel anything. But what I realized is while Android anime can be counted under sentient mecha-especially for well simplification-the genre of “a human shape robot with sentience” and “a mecha with sentience” usually take a very different approach.

I specifically LOVE robots with personalities for the character development of them becoming more human, which is what I feel is absent in most mecha where the robot is sentient. I only know Brave police tackles this subject matter-but I have no idea when I’ll get to that-and I am overall not a expert on Brave, nor have I seen much transformers besides bits so this subject could’ve also been tackled in some iterations, but given a lot of it + Bravern follows “the robots are alien” it seems this introspection is merely nonexistent.

It’s likely due to the fact the robots are already characterized to be similar to humans that they don’t have this existentialism of needing to fit in when humans are either something they don’t understand or flat out want to erase, but it is a shame how most mechas when it’s a giant robot that talks doesn’t actually *tackle* the aspect of “if the robot itself wanted to be human and not just a tool for humanity”

I think it’s why despite me usually liking a robot with a personality, I prefer mechas lacking one. They can be sentient but not speak. Like how getter and big o does it it intrigues me more because it feels like this giant force which to me makes up for the fact the robot having no personality, but also, if when the robot DOES have a personality and these themes are explored, it just feels- odd to me? Like it’s still cool to see giant talking robots to spice things up, I’m not saying sentient mecha is bad because most doesn’t do what I like out of Android tropes, but it doesn’t appeal to me.

I do wanna give a brave a chance and I should at least finish one TF show at some point, but yeah. My preferences are fucking weird LOL.

(TLDR: I like when the human robots develop to become more human, but when the mechas have human personalities they don’t get the same growth, so I’m just fine when they lack personality)

Some disjointed thots on (PW+ML+AA) (single mix and everything else is just bloat to convince fans to buy copies so they don’t exist to me)

1. This is everything FP should’ve been. CB technology-related themes, nostalgic Game synths, ⊿ naming sense, the chic otona-pop of JPN, experimentalism of LEVEL3, world/concept-building of CE. Whatever Nakata was talking about back then about how everything Prfm does is future pop, and how their next work is gonna be their best.... THIS is what he should’ve been referring to. It took us 3 extra years but FUTURE POP is finally here...

2. What I really love about these new tracks is that they all have multiple layers of melodies that build on one another, and the tracks all go Somewhere, instead of feeling copypasted and one-note. But also not in a cheap lulz im so random and QuIrkY! way like in 7iro with an entirely different section that pops out of nowhere, never to be heard from again in any form. That new bridge in PW is a masterpiece (dare I say on the level of SOL’s). ML has this dissonant backward synth which sounds really out of place at first, but is eventually incorporated together with the rest of the song and resolved. And it does a really good job in creating tension in the song. The guitar from AA’s intro returns during certain sections of the song, as well as the outro (unlike PMU’s acoustic guitar).

3. And so I actually think this is Prfm’s most effortless and inspired-sounding release post-2013. Like... Nakata actually sounds like he enjoyed making these tracks, instead of trying to churn out commercial jingles and THEN extending them for release as soon as possible (to mixed results). The new tracks all have these flourishes and melodies and details added to them that’s been absent for a very long time (especially the distinct bridges!!!!). The lyrics actually have depth to them, and the tracks all have the required runtime to evolve and fully-realize themselves. Literally none of that uwu uwu DISPLAY DISPLAY DISPLAY x 16. So shoutout to the CEOs of Tully’s and Levi’s for rejecting Nakata jingles two times each. We could not have done it without you....

4. On a related note, apparently Nakata has finally had an actual discussion with Prfm wrt music direction for the first time in almost 20 years. And the benefits are clear. These songs were tailor made for them, as they are NOW. No infantile tiny baby chipmunk voices. And no continuous throwing of shit on the wall (future bass, retro, Japamyu leftovers, other assumptions of what a US/global audience wants) to see what sticks.

5. Nakata’s mentioned several times that he doesn’t like looking back at his past works, and I assume being forced by his label to remaster his old tracks played a part in helping him recapture his spark. Covid probably also helped with getting him to stay tf home and reflect instead of getting high while DJ-ing at clubs. 

6. It’s hilarious how TW was released a year ago and yet the rollout of this single is still evidently rushed af. From the whole audio to video production timeline it’s all a hot mess lmao. But what’s new?

7. Wrt the video, it’s boring. The capsule references are cute but that’s it. Everything else is just dark. I think the dance set has the same issue with Everyday’s. A full CGI set from Rhizomatiks would have worked better and looked less cheap. But PW suffers even more because the set is so dull and static. At least Everyday had flashing and moving clouds, and flying and whatnot. PW had nothing lol. They should’ve just gone full vaporwave acid trip aesthetic like in the P Cubed tour interlude.

8. The Prfm budget being slashed is probably another major factor as to why their videos have been pretty tragic Saisei onwards. Their pull on the general public has been on a decline (being the most well-known girl group or whatever in Japan doesn’t matter when girl groups as a whole aren’t doing very well). So from a company perspective it makes more sense to invest in live shows over music videos. And they definitely are continuing to make money off their tours considering that every tour has seen an increase in ticket pricing...!!! Sad for their music video legacy but oh well.

Gohan transforms into a Super Saiyan after Icarus is killed from protecting him

In a Super Saiyan Rage, Gohan rips Cooler’s tail and limbs off except one arm, allowing him to charge up a Supernova. He then sends Cooler into the sun with a Hyper Masenko

Salza sneak attacks Gohan with a ki blade while his guard is down, giving Gohan his scar. He is finished off by Piccolo like in the movie.

Sometime later, Cooler merges with the Big Geti Star and takes over New Namek, all the dragon clan Namekians are killed in the process (meaning no more dragon balls).

Hoi visits Earth and with the assistance of the Z Warriors, opens a sealed music box with a wish from the dragonballs, releasing the demon Hirudigarn and the Konatsa-jin hero Minosha.

Gohan is forced to kill Minosha with his sword in order to kill Hirudigarn with him

So I just played Delta Rune learned it was free, with my sister watching me. And with the song intro stage when your introduced to Ralsei I was hooked. We are migrating from usb stick to sd card. I long time intending upgrade our backup card storage, but always felt economically unfit for it. Now I am almost assured worthily to invest it. I also intended shift our old Dell notebook to my son’s mom, the small man long time complained her notebook I left her without battery, even I told our notebooks’ battery were shits. I even guessing she brought Trojan horses from PRC surveillance into the dell notebook my son and I used to play steam games, for she insisted worked on the notebook even she already had an old Hasee notebook I left her, after all my warns not to mess with our dell notebook. Now she can has a taste of her own bait. I felt glad to rip off the dell notebook, for it frequently refused windows’ patches. It also lagging in booting up, even running programs OK. After move it away from my son’s bedroom, my son will has a new desk to work on. I long time preparing my son an office space, but the dell notebook always occupied one. So my son usually wrote homework on a cheap table his mom used for her profiting tutoring. Now with 2 light chromebooks, my son has 2 fix computer desks to work on. that’s I long time intended, against his cheap mom's efforts to put him and her students in slavery situation, where only main business is tutorials, like in Mideast or Islamic. God, dad, its a yellow morning now. Sandstorm more and more common scene now here. Looking into future, so many holy discipline including severe genocide ahead. Exploring RK1700: Part 3

Final part of a rudimentary exploration of RK1700. Usual warning for obvious results given the small size of the pair; data scraped in end September 2019. Additional warning: since there are only 360 fics examined, topic modeling results shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Likewise, the attempt to pull out the descriptors of Connor/RK900 is still very preliminary.

Overall this part is really exploratory - a lot will be refined once I get around to collecting the larger Detroit corpus.

(ATTEMPT AT RETRIEVING) THE MAIN TOPICS IN RK1700 FICS When we have a collection of writings, we may assume that there are some common themes underlying them. We can retrieve these themes by qualitative coding and close-reading. But if we have a really large set of writings (think: in the thousands, at least), that’s where quantitative topic modeling may be helpful. 

There are of course certain trade-offs with the quant route - for example: definitely, we need a large enough collection for the model to learn properly, topics may not really end up being ‘topics’ in the intuitive sense (topics are more like words that commonly co-occur together), ‘junk’ topics may come up, vanilla models can’t take into account syntax and other features like sarcasm. There’s a lot more that I won’t discuss here, but those are points to note if you’re checking out the results below. (edit 18/10/19: fixed an error in code and topic modeling results. unfortunately a fic got deleted by the time of re-scrape)

Preprocessing In brief, I removed stopwords (really common words like ‘the’), removed names (identified with the help of the Stanford NER parser), and kept only nouns and verbs (used the Stanford POS tagger). Then I lemmatised (e.g. imagining/imagined → imagine) the kept words with spaCy’s lemmatiser. 

I came to a problem: do I take one story as one document, or split the stories up by chapter (i.e. one chapter as one document)? One story one document issues: only 359 documents for modeling, topics might be harder to capture especially with very much longer fics. One chapter one document issues: 1379 documents for modeling (still a small collection), not sure if topics might end up getting too influenced by fics with way more chapters vs one-shots (especially since this is a rarepair).

In any case, both routes didn’t give me very good results. For now I’ll show the one story/one document results, but expect the one chapter/one document route to be better with the larger Detroit corpus.

Topic modeling I performed non-negative matrix factorisation for 18 topics (topic selection method following [1]) on a TF-IDF weighted matrix. Words had to appear in at least 14 fics and no more than 35% of the 359 fics to be included in modeling.

Results Table 1 shows the 16 topics and the top 10 words for each topic. I tried to derive a topic label subjectively based on the 10 words shown; you can see it’s a bit difficult to do so with these results. So again, since the results aren’t great, don’t take them too seriously.

We can see that a lot of these topics are really quite broad - as I expected going the one story/one document route. Quite notably we’re missing the alphas/betas/omegas despite all the smut. Still, a number of the topics do make some sense so I’m going to hold out hope for better results on the larger Detroit corpus.

HOW ARE CONNOR AND RK900 DESCRIBED? I relied on the ‘other’ tags supplied by the authors for this. More results may be gotten if I parsed the content of the fics themselves, but I wanted easier text to start off with. In fics, descriptions may be longer, e.g., ‘Connor may be deathless but he is still a terribly shy android.’ Connor is deathless, terribly shy, and an android - but it’s not that easy to automatically parse out versus tags which tend to be shorter, (e.g. ‘shy boi Connor’; Connor is a shy boi).

I examined only tags which contained ‘Connor’/RK900 tags. So many names for RK900 - so, Conan, Conrad, Nine, Nines, Niles, Richard, RK900 were taken as him.

Pulling out the descriptions 1) e.g., sexy!Richard → RK900 is ‘sexy’. This is easily done with regular expressions.

The next few instances rely on Stanford’s dependency parser. They’re no comprehensive list of how descriptions may be written, but are the ones I’ve been working on so far:

2) e.g. awkward RK900 → RK900 is ‘awkward’. Very typical adjective use. 3) e.g. Connor is anxious → Connor is ‘anxious’. Different way of organising the adjective, but very capturable. 4) e.g. bad-ass cop Connor → Connor is a ‘bad-ass cop’; Connor is being described by another noun (that may/may not be modified further by adjectives, etc)

Descriptions of Connor and RK900 Remember how limited the tag pool I worked on was. Most of these tags don’t have a count of above 1 or 2. I also didn’t distinguish from which fic they came from; so if a fic contributed to, like, ten 1-count Connor tags, I didn’t check in this instance (though I doubt any RK1700 fic has so many Connor/RK900 descriptor tags?).

Let’s get on with the results and (if you read RK1700) you can check how much they agree with how you feel about Connor/RK900’s characterisation within RK1700. Counts in brackets.

Now, let’s look at the remaining descriptors for Connor/RK900. Note that all these tags have a count of 1~6, so don’t put too much weight into them individually. But perhaps collectively they may provide an idea of how Connor/RK900 are usually written within RK1700?

To me (feel free to disagree), the characterisation of Connor (based on this limited pool of tags) seems to lean a bit more to a more sub angle, whereas RK900 has generally is kind of more dominant.
