Sir-ma’am I just read the Pokémon fanfic you put on ao3 and I am here to ask you to info dump about it because I am starved for pokemon stuff as it is my current hyperfixtation.

OMG IM SO HONORED FJDKLSJFDLSK i dont know where to start tho hmm,,

i guess ill start off w the fact that i created rudy because i felt like a lot of the fandom characterized juliana/florian as too soft/forgiving of kieran's actions?? like dont get me wrong their interpretations of their characters are still valid absolutely but i felt like i needed someone more abrasive and more challenging towards kieran's bs. i really think he needed someone to challenge him and snap back against his more angry/angsty actions especially when he blames the mc for ogerpon making her own choice, and not to just roll over and take it like i see a lot of the time. thats not really exemplified in the fanfic ofc because its more of a softer post-terapagos piece but in the future that's a lot of what rudy does!!

to add to that i originally planned for the fanfic to be much longer, it would have probably pushed at least 7000 words if i had actually finished it, but that was kind of the problem JLKFDJSLK i could feel my motivation slipping with a lot of it so i just decided to focus on just them getting out of area zero. if i had stuck with my original plan it would have probably taken far longer to come out but would have covered their descent into area zero, the terapagos fight, and little bits in between where rudy is Fucking Panicked about being in area zero again after the lab incident (which she is incredibly traumatized by and i hadnt thought of this prior to posting the fic but ive decided she becomes hard of hearing in one ear bc of it) and kieran picking up on that but not knowing how to deal with it because they have not reconciled at this point. it would have had a lot of tension and a lot of fighting until they got to terapagos which is where the real fun would begin. im actually considering finishing those segments and then publishing them in their own work sometime in the future :3c

annnddd to end off i could tell you about rudy's team since i didn't show them during the fic!! she's got dance and sound based pokemon because shes a dancer first and a battler second, and her pokemon are quaquaval, oricorio, lilligant, noivern, volcarona (unovan), and toxtricity! notable early mentions are krikitune, zorua, and luvdisc who are now happily living around her dorm room JLKFDJSL

so I technically already answered this, but I wanted to reserve my neurodivergent headcanons for this ask so I can have them all in one place! I have so many!!

Hinata, Lev, and Bokuto are all on the ADHD squad. for sure.

I just know in my heart that Hinata is a leg-jiggler and writing utensils fly out of his hand at least four times a day. there’s a reason this kid doesn’t play, like, baseball lmao

meanwhile Lev is the person who will set his feet on the desk of the person in front of him and then jiggle his legs and every time he will not realize he’s done so until he gets told to stop. he will apologize. he will cease for 2 minutes. and then he will do it again. every. single. day.

I think Bokuto’s emotional reactivity and extreme sensitivity to criticism and zero impulse control all speak for itself. the man’s got ADHD I don’t make the rules ok

I am of the personal belief that Kageyama and Ushijima are on the autism spectrum. people can totally disagree with me on this one but I see aspects of myself in them and what are headcanons if not an excuse to project ourselves? lmao

re: Kageyama, he has a really difficult time monitoring his tone of voice, often comes off as rude/aggressive, and has a tendency to say the wrong things at the wrong time. he also sometimes has difficulty interpreting what others say, and he struggles to participate socially or mirror others even though he tries (see: his ‘meat dance’ lmao). when he’s asked to learn to read his teammates better he’s shown to really struggle with it. he also has this whole thing where he doesn’t like to tape his fingers because the feeling of it bothers him and he can tell there’s like a 1mm separation between his fingers and the ball and if that ain’t neurodivergent honey idk what is. also milk is one of his safe foods. re: Ushijima, I feel like this is so obvious I don’t know how people don’t see it lol. he doesn’t mince words, and he doesn’t deal in double meanings or insinuations. he just says exactly what he means, and this is often experienced as rude by people who don’t know him well. his tone of voice is pretty flat, and he doesn’t express emotion overtly like others do. he is also shown to have a hard time fitting in throughout his life. even though the narrative attributes his ‘standing out’ to his left-handedness in childhood, which his mother tried to correct, I personally see this as being analogous in many ways to being a neurodivergent kid. like when his family talks about his left-handedness it doesn’t feel like just a conversation about that, y’know?

ALSO HE READS THE ADS??? HE UNIRONICALLY ENJOYS READING THE ADS IN SHONEN JUMP INSTEAD OF THE MANGA. I LOVE THAT FOR HIM.

this isn’t related to neurodivergence but if Kenma doesn’t have some kind of chronic illness I will eat my shoe. like? he has consistently low energy and low stamina that everybody is aware of and accommodates him for? he regularly comes down with low-grade fevers when practice is a little intense? and this is just? how he lives?? my first thought for him was CFS but it could really be any number of things.

FUKUNAGA IS ND TOO. autistic or ADHD I’m not sure, he could be both! you’re probably wondering how I deduced this about a side character from Nekoma who only has like five lines in season 4, but man... I just know this kid is not New Row Typical. there is no fuckin way. the way he speaks and interacts and just ... the way he puts words together .... he gives me improv theatre geek vibes and I know from personal experience that not a single person who is unironically into improv is NT. if it wasn’t for school uniforms, Fukunaga would wear a fedora. not in a m’lady way, I mean he would just think it looks neat and he’d probably stick a bunch of pins in it that he likes and I 👏 SUPPORT 👏 HIM 👏

Fukunaga also seems like someone who would teach himself to do electro swing dances and listen to FNAF and MLP fan songs without even being in the fandoms. gosh I love him so much. he is simply out here vibing. it’s Fukunaga’s world and we’re all just living in it

finally I think Kita and Tendou are good candidates for the neurodivergent squad, though this isn’t a hard and fast one for me. but when Kita started talking about how being methodical and meticulous just feels nice and satisfying I was like,.. we got another one lads. also Tendou is just... hi bean its me again the previous anon.. i am sorry to bother you but augggh the more i keep thinking about luca the more i want to talk about it!!! of course the absolutely gutteral line of “some people will never accept him. but some will, and he seems to find the good ones” and can we acknowledge how romantic the scene during the race was where alberto runs up the hill with the umbrella but he drops it and he’s revealed to be a sea monster and luca bikes to him knowing he’ll also be revealed and saves him from the trap and grabs his hand and lifts him onto the bike while making loving eye contact (with romantic music swelling in the background)…… WOAH

and i relate to this movie in so many ways… the main theme of not fitting in mostly. i’ve always felt like an alien, like i’m not human (or sea monster in this case lol), being gay + trans (the sea monsters of course), having adhd and autism (like guilia), and being abandoned (like alberto, which him talking about his dad leaving him absolutely ripped my heart open it felt like a personal attack) and when they boys were told they weren’t wanted there and didn’t belong there it just auuuggghhy……. so good!!! and accurate!!! and touching!!! having so many experiences and parts of me that are isolating and stop me from belonging anywhere felt so represented and were given a happy ending <3 that kind of feels like hope.

that line got me so so much!! i heard it and had to literally pause and just happy stim and maybe cry a little 🥺 this movie is literally so fucking special and everything about it just really connects w me.... also i like to think luca is also autistic!! he was sooo interested in learning about space and infodumping to alberto after learning about it and i think it also shows in his vibes of not totally understanding a lot of "normal" behavior. more in a metaphorical sense of course since he Did come from a straight up fish world and everything is new, but as someone who has difficulty w things like that but tries hard to learn i super relate!

i feel like so many characters in this movie read as super neurodivergent, even ones that arent the main 3!! like lucas dad reads as super adhd/possibly autistic to me (hyperfixated/special interest in his prize winning pets, difficulty staying on task when its not a personal interest, not rly understanding certain social cues even in his own world) and aughh this movie just makes me so happy!

this movie reads so strongly as a very neurodivergent and queer story and i connect so much w this silly little found family... giulia finally has friends like her that she can infodump with and hang around and relate to and alberto finally has family that will actually love him and luca gets to be with people that understand him and accept him 🥺 it just feels so safe and comforting and everything about this movie really hit close to home for me

It’s not, like, a requirement, I just really enjoy them (and really any Witcher content lol), so I decided to get into them. But yeah, no background knowledge needed, if you wanna get into it!

That is very iconic of them lol, love that for them. I think I’ve heard of Stray Kids before? But I don’t know much K-pop, I really only know BTS because my younger sibling is really into their music (and I know more about them from you, of course, but I knew about BTS beforehand because of my sibling lol)

I looked up Felix, and yes he is very pretty! But it said “Australian Rapper” on google instead of his band name and that made me laugh lol. And that is very good of Chan!! They both sound very cool, and I hope one day you can hug them!!

okay okay so i’m gonna put this all under a cut for those who haven’t seen the movie and wish to remain spoiler free, and i’ll also put a couple images so that mobile users (who sometimes automatically see the post, apparently?) to warn them to scroll past!

SO FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO SAY that genuinely, this movie changed my life. I have never been as excited or happy about a movie as I was with this one, and can find few (if any) flaws with it. I would have to be hyper-nitpicky if I wanted to point out anything wrong with it, but overall, I gotta say, this movie inspired me, made me cry, made me laugh out loud, made me shake and jitter with excitement.

I should point out that, yes, the visuals can be kinda jarring, especially for sensitive people like me who react to flashing stimulus and abrupt movement very poorly, but I honestly LOVED the visual aspect of the film. The character design is incredible, the animation is so unique and stunning, and every single person has this wonderful individuality in the way they look and move that it just blows me away. This movie is already a frontrunner for an Oscar in the animation category, apparently, and it’s easy to see why.

The writing is also impeccable, with a quick pace and genuine humanity to it, and it feels so bright and alive! The way people talk is so full of character and personality, and Miles’ codeswitching is adorable and fun to listen to, and everyone has such a special and unique personality that comes through how they speak. The voice acting is INCREDIBLE and the array of the cast is SO awesome and I LOVE everyone who was in it!

I literally am so excited about everything that I’m having a hard time keeping this post linear and sensical, but I just! Love it so much!

Some people criticize the film by saying that it’s not really the “first black Spiderman movie” because Miles “shares the spotlight”, but, honestly? That didn’t come across to me at all. This movie felt entirely centered on Miles. Yes, Peter B. Parker played a big role, but, like, every movie has supporting characters and co-mains. I understand the frustration, but that’d kinda be like saying that Captain America: The First Avenger isn’t Steve’s story because Peggy gets screentime and so does Bucky. But I also do get where people are coming from and I find the frustration very valid.

But I LOVE all the spider-people, and they didn’t actually overwhelm the movie. Peni, SpiderNoir, and SpiderHam all took backseats. They were fun additions, but didn’t ever detract from the experience of this being Miles’ story. Even Gwen didn’t derail the film, or even Peter B.! They all stayed in their lanes and moved Miles’ story along, more like the wheels propelling him than roadblocks obfuscating his progression. 

I loved every one of the characters, and I got so attached to all of them; Miles’ family really stands out to me, because they are such strong and loving characters, and it is so, so sadly rare to see loving black families portrayed like this. Jefferson, Miles’ dad, is allowed to be flawed without ever crossing the line into “bad dad” territory. He’s allowed to be wrong but still love his son and be doing the absolute best for him. Even Miles’ “bad” uncle, Aaron, made me cry and love him. When Aaron died, I was horrified (mostly because, I mean, god, we really did not need to see another black man getting shot by a white guy...), but they also never demonized Aaron, or downplayed the tragedy of his loss. He was heroic, even in his mistakes, and I think that was really noble on the part of the storytellers. 

The movie just feels so lived in and loved and human, and you can tell that it’s just a work of art and love and passion. It’s a game-changer. I legitimately consider it the best Marvel movie ever made, on par with Black Panther in terms of artistic value and importance. It’s the fun of Thor: Ragnarok and the art and significance of Black Panther rolled into one, unique, amazing bundle that has forever set the bar for how I want movies, especially movies intended for families and children to be.

“Anyone can wear the mask” means something. It may sound like a cheesy cop-out, but it means that we don’t have to look up to Perfect Pillars Of White Heroism as our standards. It means black children from Brooklyn are heroes. Jewish people are heroes. Women are heroes. Asian people are heroes. Even Miles’ parents are heroes, and it shows the wide gamut of good people and what we owe to each other. While neither Rio nor Jefferson Morales-Davis are “superheroes”, they are legitimate heroes, doing their part to make the world a better place.

Anyway, moving on; the jokes in the movie are awesome, and my family has been throwing them back and forth ever since we saw the movie. SpiderHam’s t-pose ascension into the black hole and “keep this, it’ll fit in your pocket” had us in tears. SpiderNoir and the Rubik’s cube? Incredible. Peter B. crying in the shower? Artistry.

AND NOW FOR ME TO TALK ABOUT THE AFTER CREDITS SCENE BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN HOLDING IT IN FOR S O   L O N G

When I read that Oscar had a cameo in the movie, I needed to know. It was the only spoiler I allowed myself to know about, and when I heard he was going to be Spider-Man 2099/Miguel O’Hara, I flipped. I read nothing else about the scene, and wanted to go in blind, but I researched Miguel and, well, you know, I fell in love!

His scene was SO good and SO funny and I LOVE Miguel SO much, you have no idea. I am SO excited for him to be in the next movie (fingers crossed!) and can’t wait to see more of him. I do hope they give him more screen time, because he’s a great character, and because it’d be amazing to have a Latino Spider-Man AND a Afrolatino Spider-Man! And because, you know, more Oscar is always ideal.

I love, love, love Miguel, and Oscar was so funny (he has amazing comedic timing and such great range, omg), and I am desperate to see more of him. I haven’t stopped bombarding my poor friend Cydney with love and affection for Miggy in, like, two weeks. I’m sure she’s sick of it by now. Also, I kinda wanna write stuff about Miggy, lowkey, as self-indulgence, but for now I’ll just keep that foolishness to myself lol.

Anyway, the movie is chock-full of amazing things, both from an artistic/cultural standpoint and from a Marvel-fan standpoint: so many easter eggs and little surprises, so much amazing writing, so much amazing character design, just!! So! Good! Please go see it immediately, because I’m itching to see it again and don’t know how I can resist going in for a second watch.

Also, Peter B. Parker is Jewish and it’s canon and if you want to step up and fight me about it, feel free to, but I will kick your ass. I will. Know this. Jewish Spider-Man FOREVER, FOOLS. No one is allowed to thirst after him if they also ignore his being Jewish or disrespect it, so if you wanna love him, you gotta love his Judaism too, or I’ll fist-fight you behind the Denny’s at 3 am and knock you the hell out.

also john mulaney’s cussing outtakes for spiderham are the funniest thing on earth and i’m crying 

OH and I have the art book for the movie and everything is so *kisses fingers like an Italian cook* B E A U T I F U L! And the soundtrack? BOY I TELL YA I was listening to it for WEEKS in advance even when there were only three songs released and some of those tracks are, like, incredibly powerful, whooh. 

Anyway GO SEE SPIDERVERSE. I LOVE IT. ALL OTHER SPIDER-MAN MOVIES ARE DOOKIE BY COMPARISON.
