i literally don’t remember the last time i was so absorbed in a multi part fic but tfofa has me HOOKED i woke up and saw a new part was out and immediately read it shirking all responsibilities and the need to eat breakfast until it was done because i simply had to

i didn’t even MEAN to i just started reading and could not stop, you do such an amazing job actually weaving real plot and conflict into your stories, it’s like a magical super power when im reading your stuff and i start jumping up and down and going ITS LIKE IN THE SHOW ITS LIKE IN THE SHOW!!!! and it makes the characters more interesting when they are put in Situations and have feelings in reaction to those situations and problems to resolve with one another as well like you just ate idk!!

H: How would you describe your style?

if there’s anything that’s consistent across work and pov i would say it’s i tend to have a detailed but fluid style? also humor focused, there’s a lot of very obvious snappy banter that dominates in my works (if anything i sometimes get worried my stuff is too m//c//u constant barrage of one liners) but i really have fun threading in more subtle absurdity than anything, like all of my situations should be a little laughable.

i would also say i have a very character driven style, i spend a lot of time building character voice and crafting unreliable narrators, my style varies a lot depending on my take on how the characters view and interact with the world. and lots of attention to like, body language and expressions probably to the point that it’s tedious for the reader but i have a very particular way i’m picturing things and everyone has to know about it sorry.

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

it’s hard for me to even know consciously because i feel like i’m just constantly absorbing by osmosis everything my mutuals do and whatever the last book i read was, i try to always be conscious of what i really vibe with when enjoying writing and why i enjoy it to keep in mind when crafting my own style without just copying if that makes sense?

T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?

there’s a lot of things i am just going to keep my mouth shut about <3 BUT

nothing against people who dig them, but i absolutely cannot vibe with soulmate aus — sorry i love divorce, i love when love is built on a little bit of happenstance and freely, actively choosing someone every moment (and maaaaaybe just a little bit of toxicity that i would never approve of in real life). i can’t vibe with anything being predetermined sorry.

also echoing the mutuals ive already seen say hating on (particularly female) love interests or rivals or fridging them. fridging female characters in general, when it’s obviously done because the author just views women as expendable for there to be easy stakes. (obviously not saying Never Kill A Woman for character growth given my fic literally starts with dead mom, but sometimes you know it when you see it on misogyny, ya know?)

and fandom specific the magical faith disappearing act grinds gaslights and girlbosses my gears pretty bad, particularly when she’s clearly just forgotten for the sake of brushing over anything bad any of the boys have done in relation to her or her predecessors. that being said woobifying her (as much as i love ironically saying she Did Nothing Wrong) or pretending she was totally incapable of doing anything cruel and unethical of her own volition... i’m begging you don’t have to turn someone into an angel to acknowledge they were a victim, or turn her into simply a Lying Bitch to acknowledge she’s done evil like. LET female villains have depth, stop seeing characters as needing to be one note flat good or evil please please pretty please. (and to a lesser extent, same with the boys, i prommy prommy you can make a character nuanced and worth focusing on in a way that makes them feel real and human without sanding them down to the one note trope you want.)

Perched on the soft and velvety enchanted cloud, you consciously fluttered your legs, letting your naked toes play with the flowing water. In the middle of the majestic ocean, the spotlight of the moonlight drenched your pristine white wings in the ruthless glow as if it had been waiting for your arrival only. It has been many moons since you last visited this entrance to the human world. Until last month,at the break of the darkness, every day, you and jaemin had been flying away from your home to this place to allow yourself a taste of thia foreign sphere that your serene, plain, disciplinary realm never provided and today you were here, waiting for the same boy just to see his face, a sentiment, that according to you,wasn’t worthy of being revealed.

Nevaeh realm was indeed and quite literally a dreamer’s paradise but for younglings like you and jaemin, it lacked the delight and colour that oh so beautiful underground Nrub realm's fires showed. You attributed your attraction for that fiery hell to the white and cream that engulfed you in tranquil and also because it seemed unattainable for you, just like the thought of underground was supposed to be for all the unsullied beings. All things considered, underground was forbidden for everything pure, including you and jaemin. But nobody remembers the last time jaemin had listened and the last time you had made any attempt to stop him.

Eyes lost in the depths of the sea, you felt your right wing folding itself into your waist. Pausing your movements, craning your neck, you saw jaemin flapping his grey wings, a captivating smile wrinkling his nose in some unknown shape.

Grey?

You tilted your torso a little more to look at his ruined feathers.

"What in the fairies have you done to these beauties?" eyes widened in disbelief, you queried.

Shooting you his infamous fake pouty bunny teeth, he responded as his hands danced every way to exaggerate his pain,

"The underground isn't a place for angels”, he spoke with a nasal voice, “The smoke spares none. You should be glad you are seeing me in full piece."

"I thought you would have been roasted by now but you look completely fine."

The sarcasm in your voice was nothing new for him but he had begun to miss it. Awfully! Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined being at the other end of mother angel’s wrath.

Of all the younglings, him only?

Jaemin had been banished to the gates of underground for a few months as a penalty. Penalty for throwing mystic snowballs at the youngest son of the devil, which resultantly had him sick for a week.

"Make space for me." He pleaded and rolling your eyes, you extended the cloud seat with one twirl of your finger.

Oh how much he missed his baby magic!

"No one makes better clouds than you!" He exclaimed before sitting on the squashy seat but the sigh of relief that escaped him was something unexpected.

"What is it now?" Annoyed, you questioned.

"Even the underground gates are hotter for my buttocks. I don’t know how Johnny survives being the gatekeeper of that hellish place. It’s impossible to breathe in there, my wings are dirty, i’m grey, my hair have ashes in them, I no more look pretty, the little spawns make fun of me at any possible chance they get and because I can’t get past the first door, they don’t even hesitate while calling me brutal names!” he cried out with a pout.

"who had told you to play with him in the first place. their souls are weaker than ours jaem. Just because we can endure a little heat doesn-

"yangyang shouldn't have been wandering on the common grounds in the first place so it’s not my fault that i forgot about their souls or whatever. Nobody said a word to him but this beautiful boy was sent off without any apology!”

A giggle left your lips at his dramatics. He really had the audacity of acting like the purest being, which he undoubtedly was but he couldn’t look at his broken record of being a nuisance to the whole realm. Along with you and jungwoo of course.

“This cloud is so fluffy. No wonder you make the bestest clouds y/n” at the repeated praise, you straightened your back. Spreading your wings in their full glory, you proudly addressed him,

“Angel y/n, division third and rank second, jaem.”

“WHAT NO! CHEATER. WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?”

“ha.ha. when you were busy being the assistant of johnny.”

Right then, you made a mental note for sending a gratitude gift for johnny. Had he burnt your letter, jaemin would have never met you today.

“THAT’S NOT FAIR. YOU ARE EARNING RANKS AND WHAT AM I DOING? EATING DUST?”

his statement turned your head towards his wings. The dirty ones. Raising your finger, you ordered him,

“get up. Let me clean your feathers first.”

“no!” he shouted again, “they’ll know I went out and Johnny would be in trouble with mother angel.”

Realisation dawned on your face and you slouched down, hands finding solace in your lap.

“I thought you were getting toasted. You seem to be happy with that johnny. Don’t you miss playing with us?”

The disappointment in your lyrics was patent and he felt something tugging his insides, something he had felt many times before and had chosen to ignore it each time.

A smile graced his lips watching your romantic face sparkling like the sheet of stars that he adored so much. ludicrous was his love for you, as jungwoo explained and he loved nothing more than being a fool for you.

“how can I be fine when that small place feels like those thousand firecrackers we once saw on this earth.”

“and you smell like that orange food place we visited once.”

“oh yeah? give me your hand!”

You screamed at him but he gripped your hand and planted it on his feathers instead.

“that’s how I feel when I’m toasting in there!”

“mmmh…it’s warm!”

Surprised, you immediately retracted your hand and hugged it closer to your chest.

“see! I’m not joking.” His lips were twisted grimly as he said those words. However tempting the other side was, he still didn’t belong there. it wasn’t home.

“let’s have a competition”

“what?”

Conjuring a few pebbles, you handed him half of them.

“stone skipping!"

Stilling the water just right for the skipping, you started with your stones and chuckles filled the quiet night with much needed happiness.

“is your butt cool enough now.”

Mindlessly, you asked.

“yeah. thanks to you, it is.”

2020 HIGHLIGHTS ✨

rules: list your top 10 shows (bl or not) you watched in 2020 (doesn’t necessarily have to be shows that came out in 2020 though!)

1. 2GETHER & STILL2GETHER

my first thai drama, and even after all the amazing shows i’ve watched this year, it still has a special place in my heart. watching 2gether was the first time i’d ever seen a queer romcom that just... was. for me, by the simple fact of its being, 2gether was revolutionary. and then still2gether came along and took all the best things about the first season and gave us something beautiful and quiet and lovely and just proved to me, once and for all, that queer happiness doesn’t need to justify its own existence. there can be gay cuddles on the beach for no other reason than that we want them. 

2. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

i don’t really have the words for this one but. it makes my heart so very soft.

3. FRIEND ZONE 2: DANGEROUS AREA

season one was mindless fun because everyone was an absolute trashfire and it was hella cathartic to watch, but season 2... wow. i love it for so many reasons: it has messy and authentic queer rep; the characterisation is excellent and i somehow care about all of the characters; amazing women taking centre stage(!); a wlw relationship with lesbian, ace and bipolar rep; multiple interesting plotlines; actual character development; arm weerayut as a chaos gremlin... absolutely one of my favourites of 2020.

4. CHERRY MAGIC

i don’t think i need to explain this one, which is fortunate, because i have no idea how exactly i’d describe the happy-warm-fuzzy-queer-seen-loving-affirmed-profound feeling that rises in my chest whenever i think about it. 

5. THE GIFTED: GRADUATION

confession: i liked season 2 more than season 1 (with the exception of the ending, which we don’t talk about). season 1 was enjoyable and interesting, but for me it was season 2 which made me love this series. it did some incredibly interesting and complicated things (even if it didn’t quite nail the landing): it pushed characters to the breaking point and wove so many layers into the story and questioned its own underlying themes. plus, watching it alongside everyone in the fandom made it 200% better. i love all of you and i love this show. egg girl 5eva.

6. THE SHIPPER

i 100% understand why so many people didn’t like this show, or found it problematic, but through some fluke it absolutely worked for me (even the ending). one day i will write an essay explaining my rationale, but for now i’ll just say that it’s one of my favourite shows about adolescence and queerness and identity and compassion and friendship and love that i’ve ever watched. 

7. YYY

this series is absolutely off its rocker, and it somehow managed to be one of the most affirming shows i’ve watched. it shouldn’t have worked by it did, and i love it so much.

8. 3 WILL BE FREE

absolutely iconic. amazing plot, stunning visuals, great characters, canon polyamory, jennie being incredible... what a series.

9. MANNER OF DEATH

i love the fact that this show exists; i love the mix of crime and romance; i love maxtul’s acting; i love the central relationship; i love bun. i know we’re not even halfway through yet, but this show is doing something special and i’m so grateful that i get to watch it unfold in real time. 

10. CHIHAYAFURU (SEASON 3)

odd one out on my list, but I had to include it. chihayafuru is my all-time favourite anime and it finally got a third season, which is somehow even better than the first two. mashima taichi is one of my favourite characters of all time and his storyline hits me on such a profound level. plus, in the years since i first say this show i’ve fallen in love with classical japanese literature (particularly heian poetry) so i had newfound appreciation for the karuta matches (aka i cried every time someone recited one of my favourite poems)

other favourites: together with me, he’s coming to me, sotus and sotus s, my dear loser: edge of 17, why r u, theory of love, wake up chanee!, gameboys, pearl next door, uta koi (anime), three kingdoms (2010), blood and water (netflix). (itsay would almost certainly be on my list if i’d had time to watch it. same with dark blue kiss, which i had to pause so i could do my assignments)

Final Thoughts

well, it’s been... a year (i don’t think anyone needs a reminder of the details) but writing this post has reminded me of all the amazing shows and people I discovered over the course of it.

note: for this fic, i used the criteria that it had under 250 kudos, though the bulk of these fall into the under 150 category, and that they’ve been around for a few weeks at least.

summary: Robby had made his agent request the trade instead of asking for it himself.

Something about the idea of verbally admitting how badly he needed to get out of St. Louis kind of killed him inside. He didn’t even care where he went, not really. He just desperately wanted to be out of electric blue and gold, wanted to skate anywhere else, wanted to feel like he actually mattered to a team. Any team. Anywhere in the league that would take a disappointing excuse of a first round pick with ‘injury prone’ tattooed across his forehead. His name was on the fucking Stanley Cup and it just felt so cheap, and evil, in a cosmic sort of way. He was trying to exorcise the chorus of Gloria from his brain for the rest of his life.

So his agent had texted him: What about Detroit? Armstrong and the front office r willing to trade u for a kid named De La Rose.

And then his agent had texted him again: I can get u 1 for 1 but thats probably as good as its gonna be

why i love it: i’ve never loved a gen fic as much i love this one. it’s an absolutely beautiful character study of robby, and is some of the best writing of emotion that i’ve ever encountered. it’s such a perfectly crafted fic, and it made me want to care about the red wings (i team i literally know nothing about)

summary:  In June 2015 Dylan gets drafted fourth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs, in August his boyfriend breaks up with him. In July 2026 said ex signs with the Leafs. In the months that follow they work things out.

why i love it: this author has actually written two of my favorite mcstrome fics ever, and i recced the other one of theirs pretty recently. this fic has some of the best platonic dynamics, which adds such a nice depth to the story and the secondary characters. the pacing of it is absolutely perfect, and it felt like such a realistic way that connor and dylan could have come back together.

summary: Dylan isn’t expecting his phone to ring during the second day of the 2023 draft, but it does, and it’s Stan Bowman.

“Hello,” Dylan answers.

“Hi, Dylan. I am calling to let you know you’ve been traded to Philadelphia. Thank you for your hard work and dedication here in Chicago, and we in management and the coaching staff wish you the very best for your future. Chuck Fletcher should be reaching out to you soon.”

why i loved it: i love trade fics, for the narrative, and i love trade fics that are actually trades i wish would happen in the real world. it’s such a great look into how dylan handles it all-the move, the break up, the gradual way he falls for tk, how he makes a home for himself in philly and on the flyers-and the pairing is one i would never have thought of, but now i wish there were so many more fics for them

why i love it: i was torn between putting a fic from this series or once in twenty life times, but i’m fairly certain i recced that one recently so. technically you could read my essay length comments on any of the fics in this series and you’d get all of my very indepth thoughts on this, but the the tldr is that i’m a sucker for magical realism and a little bit in love with the city of philadelphia, and this fic-the whole series-just does it for me. i love the concept of the heartbeats, of all the different way the city makes its claim known, and nolan’s is my favorite of the three.

why i love it: wishbaby fics are one of my absolute favorite things to read, and this one is an absolutely perfect one. the domesticity, the way it’s so obvious who the second parent is, but cale takes forever to put it together, the complex and messy and conflicting emotions that this kind of situation would create-it’s really got it all and is such a wonderful read

why i love it: ao3 user jvrcus if you see this please know that i looked at your page for a solid 15 minutes trying to decide which fic to puton this list because they’re all perfect. this author is one of my favorite writers when it comes to imagery, and this fic is such a great example of that. this fic is really just a series of moments that feel too intimate to witness, which is what i love in a fic

summary: Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? Alexander would like to believe that, but he couldn’t imagine a fondness stronger than the one he feels every time he’s around them. He couldn’t imagine a world where his heart doesn’t skip a beat every time J.T. smiles, easy and pleased and, underneath it all, a little vulnerable. Or—when Tyson volunteers to help Alexander make brownies, and looks over at Alexander, the bridge of his nose dusted with flour and his hands sticky with chocolate.

When the three of them are driving to practice in the morning, Alexander in the backseat and Tyson and J.T. holding hands and Alexander just—wanting.

why i love it: part why i adore this fic is just the structure, how it’s set up that there’s a fact or anecdote about alexander, and then there’s a way that it relates to jt and tyson. alexander calls the two of them the closest thing to soulmates, but this structure makes it feel like all three of them are just linked somehow, and it’s a very sweet fic

summary: Tyson is traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in July, and it's fine, really.

It's not like his life is falling apart or anything.

why i love it: again, i love trade fics, and this one is one of my favorites because of it’s characterization of tyson. he spends most of the fic trying to help others, focusing on the issues someone else is experiencing, in order to avoid thinking about his own problems. it leads to some really great parallels in the fic, and the author crafted such  a beautiful, layered, and compelling story because of it

L: What’s the weirdest AU you’ve ever come up with? 

Aha..okay, um. So, this isn’t necessarily a weird AU - but this is what I thought of for this question. I haven’t written too many crazy AU’s, not really! 

 Basically, I saw a post that talked about matching tattoos being soulmate marks, right? And that night I had a dream about it, so I wrote a little mini thing about everyone having some kind of circlet around their various body parts. But I didn’t make up characters...i used myself and a real boy who I knew from my art class whomst I had a crush on. Yes, this is bad - but no no, it gets worse! The next day, I then bumped into him, and was so unaware of who exactly I had run into that I asked “can i see your tattoo?” - thinking of the not real world I was living in for the past 24 hours. Needless to say, I snapped out of it real quick when he responded with; “I don’t have a tattoo?” and then never spoke to me again. It was not my best creator moment lol. 

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

Oh heck yes! Anything that I read is inspiring in some way or another - fanfics esp! Throwback to reading that one old Stucky fic that had the singular line “The instant Steve hears Mikey saying “Holy shit, that’s Iron Man!” he’s flinging himself bodily at Stark and carrying him out of the room...”, and me getting so inspired to actually finish the recent chapter of Above and Below. All so I could steal the phrase “Tackling bodily out of the room” hahaha. But seriously, creators like Adiduck, jilliancares, midnightlie, Okadiah - literally SO MANY! I’m just listing a few I’m currently obsessed with! 

We also have our outside the internet influences - Casey McQuiston shattered me emotionally last August with Red, White, and Royal Blue and ever since I’ve been like - I want that. Maggie Stiefvator is literally my all time favorite author, and while I don’t aim to copy her very unique storytelling style, I do try to find magic in the worlds she makes. RIck Riordan used to be, not so much anymore since I’ve grown - oh, but Samantha Shannon stole me away recently! I read her book, Priory of the Orange Tree, and literally still can’t breathe. 

Again, I get inspiration from every little thing I experience - good and bad, reading and living, etc,. etc., How it influences me is just like...up to me? Hahaha, sorry long answer. 

U: A pairing you might like to write for, but haven’t tried yet.

Hmmm. The only ship I’ve never written anything for that I can think of off the top of my head is Buck and Eddie from 911. Most if not all of my ships have some form of drabble sitting in my Google Doc - I really wanna get the guts to just post the unfinished drafts - because I will literally read myself to sleep with them and would like validation to FINISH THEM. There are hundreds of ideas and ships that I wanted to write for but could never bring myself to finish for this or that reason.

So since 500 is a pretty big number and I never EVER thought that I’d have this many followers, I decided to do something a little different. I’ve been in the fandom since season 2 and I’ve read SO MANY fics over the years. So i decided to compile a giant list of my absolute favorites. Then I compiled that list and realized how long it was so now I’m splitting it up!    This is an absolutely beautiful fic. Dancer!Bellarke is definitely HOT.  Clarke and Bellamy are co-dance-instructors. Bellamy helps her find her passion again.

   OH MY GOD. THIS FIC. just wow. I don’t even know what to say. Bellarke as neighbors. Angst, fluff, and of course, happy endings. 

-Turn the Tide on My Losing Side by Lalalli.....T

   Fun Bellarke + Jaha facebook shenanigans. Such a fun and lighthearted fic. “I want to touch your abs.” Iconic, honestly.

Is it really a fic rec by me if there isn’t a hockey/ice skater AU? Hockey player Bellamy is hot and I absolutely love the dynamic between Bellarke in this fic. Not only does it have hockey, it also has bed sharing, enemies to friends to lovers, and so much teamwork, which is Bellarkes brand tbh.

A Harry Potter AU where Bellarke are professors at Hogwarts. Also doubles as a soulmate AU. Meg does such an amazing job of bringing the show characterization to these characters in a completely different setting. I absolutely love this and am a huge sucker for Harry Potter AU’s.

Another Harry Potter AU. Talis is a genius and had all the chapter titles be Harry Potter puns. Bellamy is constantly getting hurt and Clarke is always there to patch him up. So much light fluffiness but also so much angst! One of my fave fics! She also wrote a smutty follow-up to this, Finders Keepers. 

Talis also has so many other fics that are amazing and I’d so like to recommend them all here but this would be miles long. Definitely check out all of her others!!!

So this fic is on almost every fic rec list I’ve come across and its not finished but its literally that good. Mixes mythology, reincarnation, and firefighter Bellamy/EMT Clarke. The characters are so well written and there is seriously so much angst that it makes me want to cry whenever I re-read it.

Modernverse with so much angst that it hurts. This fic taught me everything I need to know about kayaking and waterfalls and now every time I go kayaking, I think about this fic. This fic is B E A U T I F U L.  The amount of love that Bellarke has for each other in this fic is only paralleled by show Bellarke. This author also wrote a follow up, New Expectations, which is a baby fic set in the same universe.

FARMER BELLAMY. I’m not quite sure why i have a Thing^TM for farmer Bellamy but I sure as hell DO. Clarke is a vet that helps take care of Bellamy’s farm animals. She needs someone to come with her to her high school reunion. Features two idiots in love who don’t know how to talk about their feelings for each other.

Another farmer Bellamy fic! Octavia leaves home but doesn’t want Bellamy to be alone, so naturally he puts an ad out for a wife. Clarke comes knocking. Not one, but TWO Bellarke weddings! 

-Of Coffee and Magic by @chase-the-windandtouch-the-sky ...T

Clarke owns a coffee shop with a twist. She puts magic into people’s drinks to take their pain away. The only downside is that she gets to feel their pain, taking “I bear it so they don’t have to” to a whole new level. So naturally, she thinks that Bellamy only likes her because of her magic. So fluffy it kills me.

So I honestly haven’t read a lot of the new chapters on this one but this is the first Bellarke fic I ever read, so it has a special place in my heart. Exactly what it sounds like is what happens. Clarke wins a date with movie star, Bellamy Blake, who she knew from high school. Of course, they become friends and then hide their feelings for each other.

A So You Think You Can Dance AU where Bellamy and Clarke aren’t too fond of each other. But, of course, the power of dance brings them together.

This is one of those fics that I could just read again and again. It has such a weird and unexpected mixing of tropes but the way that the writer put them all together works so well. Bellarke in college, Bellamy as an underground boxer, artist Clarke, nude model Bellamy, fake dating, Finn as his natural douchey self, and some Wicken, Linctavia, and Monty/Miller!

-To My Favorite Scar (To All of the Stars) by @prosciuttoe...T

So this is more of a college AU than it is a Foxhole Court AU but it has some of the delinquents as Exy players, which is a made up sport from the previously listed title. I read this so long ago and I still to this day remember how much I love it. Bellamy is the captain, Clarke transfers from another team, who she now shares a rivalry with. A relationship filled with animosity quickly turns into a loving friendship (and more, wink wink)

An AU loosely based on Eliza’s movie, Christmas Inheritance. Bellamy is a grumpy hotel owner and Clarke is running away from her life in the city. Angst but so FLUFFY.

I- Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

I guess I prefer reading things that have some mystical element to them (Gods/Demons/Periodic/Royal au) or are cheesy happily ever after pieces where you know despite whatever dramatics, the mains will fall in love and live happily in the end. 

For writing, I like to find a way to use my words to tell more than a story... like a message within. I’m a sucker for putting some kind of moral learning into a realistic plot line. Like with Becoming Human, a story about robots, I really emphasised Leo being more human like than the actual humans who needed to learn how to live and believe in more than they allowed themselves to. I have always been like this. Again, I like to write what I like to read too!

K - What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

I watched To All the Boys I Loved Before and realised a lot of fake relationships end up happily ever after in movies like that - which don’t get me wrong, I loved watching. So I wrote Blinded, a fiction where the fake relationship destroys the ability to date normally in the future. Probably that is my angstiest piece? A lot of my Seongwoo fictions are angst because he suits the genre so well. Otherwise, years back I wrote a fiction called My Afterlife with Lee Joon and well, you can’t exactly live happily ever after with a ghost when you’re alive, right? Still one of my absolute favourite fictions (you can find it on AFF under the same username as I have here).

Q - How do you feel about collaborations?

I’ve collaborated for Halloween with my best friend, and am about to start a Christmas collab. The idea of working with writers, supporting and coming up with ideas that you probably wouldn’t think of alone excites me. I’m totally open to collab with writers in the future when time permits!

R - Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

Of course, I’m endlessly influenced and encouraged by many of the writers in this community. I list them often, so I won’t here again, but I definitely read a lot of fiction these days and I honestly believe it keeps my own writing motivation alive. One thing I realised over my 2 year writers block was how little I read? I had become rather negative to the idea of reading because I didn’t have time. Funny how time is such an implication to my writing. I will say, writers like Jane Austen, Meg Cabot, Diana Wynne Jones etc have really inspired me to strive for more magic within my stories, that’s for sure. 

U - Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Oooh this is hard because it will leave so many out :( 

@soobadnoonecanstopher - I love her realistic approach to dating, feelings, break up and subsequent interactions with people. Plus, her Kyungsoo fiction is some of the best I’ve ever read. I’m literally addicted to her words and inspired by her style of telling stories immensely. When I was reading All His, I stayed up until 4am and was completely unaware of the time because I was in another world entirely. 

@noona-clock / @trishmarieco - both B and T tell stories in a way that have captivated me, and they both write in a way that excites me for more. I love how much fluff B writes to fuel my happily ever after needs, and T when she was writing on noona-clock would fulfil my need for that mystical element too. It’s hard to describe because they are both admirable writers in their own rights, and I never have enough words for either of them about their work, I just love it so much.

@cramelot admittedly, outside of the Wanna One scene, Em’s stuff was the first I read. We share a lot of the same biases, and I happened to fall into her fictions when I was binging on Daehyun feels. From there I’ve really enjoyed getting to fall into further fictions and idols with her words. They’re magical and the perfect balance of telling a story and personal growth too.

I just binge read TWiFFON, and its sidefic and almost everything that's here about this universe and sadgkjhakjg you're amazing and this is amazing and I love you and this is one of the best fics (out of MCU fics especially) I've ever read. IM1 is one of my favorite movies ever, I love Tony very much and it hurts to see what they're doing to him in MCU (and what they're doing with all the characters, really), and I love your portrayal of him so much, because that's real Tony. (1/4)

Competent, genius Tony, owner of the huge company, the man, who, without the suit, is still the person who’s built this suit. From scraps. In a cave. In Afghanistan. While being tortured. Revolutionizing science on the way. I’m looking at you, Mr. I-Saw-The-Footage(And-Made-My-Judgment-Before-Actually-Meeting-You-And-Decided-You-Suck). Yeah, you can see how I just -love- Steve in this moment in “Avengers”. (2/4)

I always wondered what footage he saw, btw. From before-Afghanistan? From the IM2 Senate hearing? From the disastrous IM2 b-day party? Even if the scepter amplified their feelings, those feelings had to be there in the first place. And AoU and CW just make me go Hulk, so most of the time I pretend they didn’t happen and don’t exist unless we’re talking about -consequences-. It’s been years and I’m still bitter and salty as the Dead Sea. (¾)

Also: same. [the rest is under the cut because surprise meta’s apparently a thing, as are major spoilers, and I get very rambly, RIP mobile users otherwise.]

I got into the MCU when it first kicked off, and my favorite movie’s a toss-up between IM1 and The Avengers [though, due to recent events, I’m really leaning towards the former nowadays]. I love all the characters, and if I had a heart [because no, I don’t, nope, nothing’s ever made me tear up nope heart of stone right here], it’d be hurting because of the turn the MCU’s taken lately, and the level of character assassination I’ve seen is….the best comparison I can think of include the way Naruto ended [specifically, Sakura], or…well, you get the picture.

Just…the turn canon took, after Phase 1, left a bitter taste in my mouth. Tony’s my favorite character, and seeing how the world’s done its level best to break him when his origin story is literally him forging his armor from the guns that would’ve killed him otherwise is something that I have very strong feelings about. Add to that my spite after seeing the turn the fandom took after Civil War, and I couldn’t not write the fic where he actually [albeit accidentally] took over the world, by taking him back to his roots. 

[aka TWiFFON’s basically me venting passive-aggressively about the issues I have with the MCU]

As for my take on Steve? 

Even if it doesn’t look it, I kinda liked his character, early on. The way his character was mangled by the writers is another thing entirely, however, and after Phase 1 my enthusiasm didn’t wane so much as it tanked, especially after Age of Ultron. [ditto as to Civil War.]

But early on? I actually liked his character. My headcanon/take on his approach during the first Avengers movie was him being adrift in a world that’s moved on without him, so of course he’s clinging to what he remembers. 

That ended up being something that SHIELD/HYDRA took advantage of, though, and while Fury tried to help, the HYDRA guys did their level best to sabotage him, which succeeded in ways that don’t show up until later on. For instance, while Fury’s crew was the one to break the news of ‘so you slept 70 years, welcome to the future’, it was a HYDRA contingent that were the ones to ‘ease’ him into it, and so his briefings on history and whatnot were basically sabotaged. 

As in, they made sure to focus on the shitty parts of the past century, and glossed over the progress, and did their best to be subtle about it so that when Fury came around, he thought it was ‘okay Steve’s still settling in and hurting’ rather than ‘Steve’s hurting and everywhere he looks only makes it worse’. I mean, it wouldn’t even have been hard; breaking the news would’ve been dicey enough as is, but I can guarantee that HYDRA would’ve pulled no punches in painting everything to be as shitty as they could. 

I mean, even if they were trying to help, it would’ve been hard enough: because good luck updating the guy who literally did a suicide run to prevent his home country from being bombed about the Manhattan Project. 

That alone would’ve been messy enough, but also going through Korea and Vietnam and the list just goes on, while also trying to go ‘we’re the good guys’, and I’m pretty sure Steve’s faith in humanity would’ve taken a hit somewhere in there. And that’s if it was SHIELD who was doing it; if it was HYDRA instead? Just…yikes.

And Tony has a lot of fodder that could be used against him. 

He’s a powerhouse, a loose cannon, and is very visibly anti-establishment when it comes to some things, so when Steve’s trying to cling to a vestige of the past, it’s so, very easy for a HYDRA technician to pull some clips of Tony’s messing around and gloss over ‘yeah he’s also a genius and built a suit somewhere along the way’ while doing their level best to make sure that Steve does not like Tony, because if those two got along it would not end well for HYDRA so best nip that in the bud. [I’ve got a fic idea that plays with that premise, actually, but…rambling again, oops.]

Doesn’t help that people’s values have changed, either; nowadays, we’re a lot more cynical as to what’s going down in Congress, for instance, or the military-industrial complex, so just right there’s some culture clash. Iirc, pre-Nixon, people viewed what happened in DC differently than they do now, and I don’t think Clinton helped any, either. And that’s just one example.

tl;dr: I headcanon that HYDRA sabotaged Steve’s possible relationship with Tony, among other things. 

Now, when it comes to the world domination thing…

You can probably tell I’m having a lot of fun with it. It’s part of what helps keep the tone of TWiFFON fun for me to write, and I’m choosing to go the cracky route instead of the grimdark serious one because this fic’s self-indulgence at its finest, and my life is stressful enough as is. 

Because, I mean, for me it’s either laugh or cry, and I can’t afford to cry, when it comes to the tire fire that’s going on. I can laugh or cry, so I’d rather go for deadpan ‘so apparently this shit’s more plausible than some of what I’m seeing in the news’ rather than get even more gray hair stressing out over stuff I have no control over. [Playing with power dynamics in a fictional universe where there’s magic and aliens is very good stress relief, is what I’m saying.] Plus, y’know, it gives me an outlet for whenever I see yet another ‘Tony Stark was the villain!’ post. 

You probably know that originally, TWiFFON was supposed to be way darker [and shorter]. However, thanks to…life, I decided to go for broke and went ‘screw it, this is stress relief so might as well go for broke’, and since I love the Accidental World Domination trope…[getting rambly again, oops] 

Thus, why it’s going to take a literal Destroyer of Worlds to break it to Tony that yes, he took over the world. Oops. 

However, since apparently I can’t help but be pedantic about power dynamics and politics and whatnot: it’s probably more low-key than some of my readers are expecting. Here, it’s not going to really show until we reach the Final Battle arc, but I’m trying my best to avoid imperialistic tones where that part’s concerned. 

Like, yes, the fic’s going to devolve to crack by then, but the world domination part’s going to end up being due to basically [heads up for major fic spoilers]:

The world: so 

The world: you have Skynet in your pocket. A horde of them, even.

Tony: guys, you are so grounded why’d you pull that stunt I told you—

JARVIS: *is unrepentant*

FRIDAY: *is also unrepentant*

JOCASTA: *is shamelessly using her full capabilities to help clean up the battlefield*

Tony: JARVIS, you were supposed to the the role model, not the bad influenc—

Tony: wait what do you mean you want me to take them offline

Tony: okay you know what? Fight me

on top of everything else. But the above being the main motivation for Tony’s not stepping down after the Final Battle, and I intend to go into more detail when the matter comes up. [Hopefully I do it right.]

But for the most part?

It’s not like he can put it on his shelf to collect dust or anything, no way does he want to rule the world! Tony’s got more than enough power as is, and he’s happy enough being the Head of R&D. Hell, he’s got more than enough as his plate as is, why the fuck would he want to add to his workload?! Strange, stop laughin—Rhodey, why are you giving Hope money? Thor, you too—what do you mean ‘you lost a bet’? JARVIS, you are so grounded!

aka his life is s u f f e r i n g because he didn’t sign up for any of this, thank you very much, how is this his life, where did he go wrong in his life choices?

Strange, you can stop laughing any time now. Any time. 

…screw it, might as well roll with it. Anyone mind if they call themselves the Federation if any other aliens come around? Or would that violate some copyright law?

everyone at Stark Industries is scratching their heads and wondering where the miscommunication happened before shrugging and carrying along because business as usual now includes world domination, oops

Pepper’s in Maui finally getting her vacation. 

JARVIS doesn’t really mind, as it simply means he has less variables to control for to help keep Tony safe and happy, so he’s completely and utterly shameless about it all. Even if he’s so, very grounded for pulling the stunts he did during the Final Battle arc. 

Fury is in an unspecified location, laughing at Tony while also feeling very proud of him because this is the opposite of a problem and free entertainment at its finest, yes, this was worth it. Not what he’d expected, but most definitely worth the headache.

[just putting it out there to hopefully give an idea of what I’m aiming for, at the end of the fic.] Hopefully it gets across right. Just…world domination, but with a kinda relaxed take on things.

Kinda sorry for the spoilers, but that moment’s one of the ones I’ve been really looking forward to and it’s been the better part of a year and this fic just keeps growing.
