I read If the Far Side Saw You by birbleh a considerable time ago, but it both pinches and caresses my heart all the same. I haven't anything else to say other than give it a chance.

Ice Queen by TheHighQueen is a great ongoing Dazai genderbend fic, that follows canon with interesting diverging road stops.

This Color Ain't It by justcallmedude has Kenji, our lovable super strength-powered farmer, as a main character! Crossover between bsd and mha with a dash of angst thrown here and there.

For a shin soukoku pairing fic, I'd suggest Fair Ankles by spirallings (rated E) and love knows no boundaries by dangodangomilk; fun, interesting stories that aren't that long, the latter's a oneshot and the former's ugh, just around 100k words :>

One of the first bsd fics I've read, which is with a fyozai pairing, is Letters from the Underground by ktaem! The writing style has its own refined edge, with the exploration of a what-if scenario that had me by hook, line, and sinker. This fic is still in my tab group because I always keep rereading it!

Now if we're entering the explicit territory, I will forever recommend my favorite series (pairing is chuuda btw) Ineffable Partners by Ch_ee_rios. The eighth installment is currently updating, and I promise, you will cry- or at least feel a significant gut punch.

Head Full of Lies by AbsoluteNegation, as my friend one said, is where the good shit's at. The premise had me instantly curious and soukoku's dynamic is wonderful, messy, and DAMN I LOVE THIS FIC SO MUCH.

Mors Vincit Omnia by themadtree, an soukoku and fyolai fic that will have you bending over and dying of laughter and pain. The author's other works (akai!) are also very good.

The series all that is left by alaruya is a personal favorite of mine. The writing style is unique, with choppy sentences and tear-jerker lines. Was the first story that ever had me thinking, "god I need to bookmark this," and I did.

Bottom of The Deep Blue Sea by arkastadt is a filthy, guilty pleasure. (can you tell I'm an avid bottomzai reader?)

And that's it... I think? I'm also willing to suggest Leafing Through The Pages, I Found You by YunaYamiMouto, but letting you know it's an ongoing reaction fic of the bsd cast to Dazai's life (with the author's own creative choices and headcanons), so there will be a lot, and I mean a HECK TON of spoilers. Which, to be fair, the other fics do have in sprinkles, but this tackles novel events that maybe you'd wish to read at your own pace :D

clue (1985) is a favorite of mine forever. it does not have any romance, but what it DOES have are (mentioned) sex scandals, clever wordplay, several murdered husbands, and tim curry playing a silly little guy :) what else could you need. movie of all time

going through my netflix for anything else... to my memory the old guard (2020) does not have any romantic subplots in it!!! those immortal bitches have other shit on their hands. if there's romance it is a long time ago. definitely a movie i enjoyed :)

man i just do not watch movies. action movies sometimes just do not have the time for romance which is nice... snowpiercer maybe? would say that john wick has a lovely lack of romantic involvement except that the whole series starts with his wife dying but. if you can stand him grieving his lost love and then having no romantic attachment to anyone else he kills a lot of people and gets a dog :) some really lovely platonic relationships in that film series to me.

I know. There's a lot of music out there. Well have no fear, because I've selected, organized AND categorized a fine number of music selections, just for you! I tried to keep it to just stuff you probably haven't heard of before, but I make no promises. Hopefully you'll find at least one new thing you can take with you into 2023.

Sounds good! Let's start with a few of those:

Vulfpeck - Okay you may already know about Vulfpeck. Sorry. If you HAVEN'T, they're a wonderful group of dudes from Michigan that are all insanely talented. They have a wide-range of styles they cover and pretty much every member has gone on to do other solo stuff, which may also suit your interests. They also have a spin-off band called The Fearless Flyers that I'll cover a little further down.

Jacob Mann (As well as his Big Band) - Jacob's solo stuff has a nice laid-back feel to it, while his big band stuff is slightly more bombastic, but all of it is fun and groovy. Great example of a musician effectively switching between different toolsets, whether its a whole group of talented musicians at his disposal or just a bunch of nice Roland presets.

EMEFE - They haven't been very active lately but EMEFE is an incredible ensemble with plenty of amazing music for you to listen to. Their live album from 2017 makes me wish i could go back in time and watch it live.

Louis Cole - Louis Cole's also pretty popular, but maybe you haven't heard of him! Originally hailing from Knower, he's collaborated with a ton of musicians (including Vulfpeck AND Jacob Mann Big Band, mentioned above) as well as produced an impressive array of solo music. I can't understate how much I love this guy.

Thundercat - Know who else he's collaborated with? Thundercat. Have you listened to Thundercat? You should really do yourself a favor and listen to Thundercat.

Sammy Rae and The Friends - Only learned about Sammy Rae very recently but The Feeling (linked) was an earworm that lodged itself in my brain for months. Infectiously positive vibes, a great ensemble and really brilliant singing.

Silk Sonic - Okay they played at the Grammys so it definitely doesn't count as a deep cut but listen to Silk Sonic anyway okay? Okay.

2- MIKE I NEED SOMETHING THAT WHIPS ASS. SOMETHING TO COMPLETELY KNOCK MY SOCKS OFF.

Can do. Your metric of kickass may vary but at least one of these should work for you:

King Gizzard and The Wizard Lizard - King Gizz has put out such an unbelievable volume of music that it's hard to just recommend ONE thing from them. I've linked Nonagon Infinity, a great little album with the fun gimmick of seamlessly looping front to back. They really haven't put out a single bad album, so just go wild.

Royal Blood - Royal blood's bassist plays through an octave pedal, giving their stuff this fuckin' beefy sound that's well-rounded enough you'd never guess the band is just a bassist and a dummer. Their style has gotten poppier lately but it's still all worth listening to.

Tricot - Tricot's been around for around 10 years now and their stuff has only gotten better over time. I feel like Math Rock is kind of an obtuse genre for most people but their recent stuff is absolutely worth checking out even if that's not your usual sort of thing. Makkuro (真っ黒) is my favorite album of theirs by far.

Thank You Scientist - Stranger Heads Prevail is probably one of my favorite prog albums ever and you'll probably like it too. Insanely good ensemble (the amazing triple threat of sax/trumpet/violin is such an integral part of their sound) and really fun vocals.

Nova Collective - Another incredible prog group. As far as I know they've only put out one album but it whips ass.

Ask My Bull - These guys popped out of the woodwork a few years ago and I've been obsessed with them ever since, I can't wait to see what they do next. If you're a horn-loving freak like me you absolutely need to listen to them.

Fearless Flyers - The previously aforementioned Vulfpeck spin-off band, guest starring Mark Lettieri of Snarky Puppy and the incredible Nate Smith on drums. Their album Tailwinds is easily one of my favorite albums ever, the addition of a sax trio takes their stuff from incredible to legendary.

Daikaiju - Kaiju-themed surf rock. That's really all that needs saying.

3 - MIKE I NEED SOMETHING THAT'LL MAKE ME SAY "DAMN THAT'S COOL"

Well you're in luck! A wide range of things fit the bill:

Snarky Puppy - A powerhouse jazz/funk/rock ensemble full of insanely talented musicians. Just give this song a listen, you won't regret it.

The Dear Hunter - Dear Hunter (not Deerhunter. Different band) has remained my favorite band since high school. The band has a number of different projects, A collection of EPs for each color of the rainbow, a 5-part rock opera/narrative concept album (with a 6th part that may be a movie??) and other more straightforward albums that still cover a broad range of genres and styles. I think they're great and hopefully you will too.

Hiromi Uehara - Hiromi's probably my favorite pianist ever. Just watch that video. She's ridiculous. She also plays in an incredible trio and guest stars on my favorite Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra song! Preposterously talented and insanely fun to watch. I love her.

The Bad Plus - Speaking of great trios, you can't go wrong with The Bad Plus! Really vibrant arrangements and generally incredible musicianship throughout their work.

Esperanza Spalding - Obscenely talented bassist AND singer AND songwriter. As someone who sings and plays bass (not at the same time, of course) watching her do effortlessly do both at the same time is mesmerizing. I love her.

Chon - Chon's also pretty big now but I want you to imagine you're me at a Dear Hunter (see above) concert back in 2015 and one of the opening bands walks onstage and you're like "well okay what's these guys' deal" and then they start playing these fucking insane picking solos in perfect unison. I literally couldn't believe what I was seeing. I wish everyone could experience Chon through those eyes.

4 - MIKE THOSE ARE COOL AND ALL BUT WHAT I'M REALLY LOOKING FOR IS SOME MUSIC TO GET BUNDLED UP AND GO TO SLEEP TO

You need ambient? I got your ambient right here.

Hiroshi Yoshimura - I was first exposed to the wide, wide world of Japanese ambient music back in college and in all my years since then, few things have been able to beat Yoshimura's atmospheric soundscapes. If you need music to shut your brain off (and who doesn't, from time to time), look no further.

Chihei Hatakeyama - Another Japanese ambient powerhouse, Hatakeyama's got a huge discography of music and all of it will knock your lights out (very pleasantly).

Green-House - Very much inspired by Japanese ambient, Green-house is described as "music for plants". I only wish there was more of it.

Joep Beving - Not exactly an ambient artist but a masterful practitioner of minimal, atmospheric piano. His style is understated but filled with emotion, a great mix of more classical elements with a modern cinematic flair. Great to work to!

5- MIKE EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT JAPANESE CITY POP, JAZZ FUSION AND EARLY ELECTRONIC MUSIC BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. GET ME ON THE GROUND FLOOR HERE

You got it boss:

Yellow Magic Orchestra - You've probably heard of these guys by now. I've only known about them for 6-ish years after they had a moderate burst of fame here but I think it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say these guys were one of the principle pieces of genetic memory that coalesced into the DNA of modern electronic music. All three of the principle members, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi (rest in peace) have all had really prolific solo careers in a ton of styles of music that are all worth your time.

T Square - An absolute titan of Japanese jazz fusion, their album Adventures is a veritable Rosetta Stone of video game music, directly inspiring a good number of video game songs including the dang mario brothers theme! Their stuff is an absolute joy to listen to.

Tatsuro Yamashita - Yamashita is often called the king of city pop and is (according to wikipedia) credited for pioneering Japanese "soft rock". Having grown up on the pacific coast, there's some ineffable truth in his schmaltzy surf music that touches me deep in my soul. You may not have the same experiences as I do, but I hope listening to him will allow you to tap into that divine spark and enjoy it for yourself.

Masayoshi Takanaka - Perhaps not quite as famous as Yamashita, Takanaka is a brilliant guitarist and musician known for that same schmaltzy pacific rock (just look at that damn guitar. I love him) as well as a number of other styles of rock and jazz fusion. He's got a huge discography and it's all incredible.

Casiopea - I would be remiss if I didn't mention Casiopea. I'm not an expert in Japanese music obviously, but I think it'd be fair to say they and T-Square are the two titans holding the glory of late 70's-early 80's jazz fusion like Atlas shouldering the world. Do yourself a favor and listen to Mint Jams.

Himiko Kikuchi - Truthfully I don't know much of Kikuchi's discography other than Flying Beagle (linked) but she absolutely killed it. Do yourself a favor and listen to that too.

6 - WELL MIKE THAT'S ALL WELL AND GOOD BUT WHAT IF I WANT SOMETHING WEIRD THAT DOESN'T FIT IN ANY OF THOSE CATEGORIES

I'm always happy to recommend unconventional stuff. Here's a few albums that I love to close us out:

Tom Waits - Alice - First of all, you should listen to Tom Waits. I know you know him as the Funny Voice Guy but he's had such an incredible musical career that starts great and only gets more and more amazing over time. Anyway, in the 90's, Tom and his wife (and writing partner since the 80's) Kathleen Brennan were scoring weird experimental musicals in Germany, namely The Black Rider (also worth listening to) and Alice. The musical is a strange extrapolation of Alice in Wonderland, namely inspired by Charles Dodgson's (Lewis Carroll) relationship with Alice Liddell, generally accepted as the real-life inspiration for Alice. Though the actual specifics of their relationship are uncertain, the age discrepancy and Charles' general fixation with Alice leads many to assume....the worst about their relationship, an interpretation the musical runs with. The actual musical is hard to find evidence of (there's some documentary footage from the 90's and I've found the script) but Tom rearranged his music for the show and released it in 2002, which in my eyes is the definitive version of the music. The album is unbelievably melancholic, heart-wrenching, at times deeply uncomfortable, and absolutely filled with beauty. Lost in the Harbor is maybe one of my favorite songs of all time. If ANY of this sounds even slightly interesting to you, I implore you to check it out. It also has Colin Stetson on saxophone and clarinet, which segues quite nicely to the next album.....

Colin Stetson - New History Warfare Vol. 2 - You may have actually heard Colin's music before, he's scored films like Hereditary, Color Out Of Space and the newest Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. New History Warfare is one of his experimental solo projects, most characterized by Stetson recording basically everything in a huge room filled with microphones, creating this incredible impression of scale. It's filled with some of the craziest shit I've ever heard someone do on a saxophone; long, galloping phrases with no pauses for air thanks to circular breathing, mixing in the sound of the valves opening and closing, and an incredible unnatural-sounding delay all achieved with live recording. The Righteous Wrath of An Honorable Man is one of the coolest things I've ever heard in my life (you've probably already heard it before) but the whole album is absolutely captivating.

Caroline Shaw - Partita for 8 Voices - Caroline Shaw is an amazing musician, singer and composer. All of her stuff is really beautiful and worth listening to, but few things stand out as much as this composition, written for and performed by a cappella group Roomful of Teeth (which is probably the sickest possible name for a choral group). I feel like a cappella music has a woefully bland perception among most people (thanks in no small part to Pitch Perfect); all lavish arrangements of pop music with absolutely no soul. If this is what you think all a cappella music is, I urge you to listen to this album. It's a masterful blend of speech, song and energy, filled with a vibrancy and passion I have a difficult time putting into words. You really just have to listen to it.

Off the top of my head, I would recommend several Lisa Kleypas books--Seduce Me at Sunrise is the big one that comes to mind because the heroine WAS sick for a long time, so the hero is used to taking care of her even after she gets better (to her detriment, because now he won't fuck her lmao). But yeah, Kev carries Win around, he bathes her (I mean, that's also something Kleypas loves to write lol--a long hot bath after the heroine gets that thing POUNDED) he's often fretting over her... even when she really would rather he didn't!

If you're open to paranormal romance, Immortals After Dark has heroes who are biiiig on acts of service, but especially the werewolves. Because the wolves see their fated mates as very literally their religion. If their mate dies, they are like, biologically programmed to kill themselves. So, YEAH! ACTS OF SERVICE ARE BIG!

I'd say her most approachable werewolf book, which is really a pretty approachable book in the series for newbies in general, is Pleasure of a Dark Prince. Garreth has been waiting for find his mate for FOREVER, he's kind of like a party boy, a little bit less... insane... than a lot of IAD heroes. Lucia is this very serious, cool, self-sufficient heroine who holds herself at arm's length from most people, especially men. So she's a bit miffed when this giant dude comes in and tries to do everything for her, lol. There's an entire scene where he's like, in a cage in her basement (look it's complicated) and she's super amped up because despite her best efforts, she is very attracted to him. So she starts masturbating and he can SMELL HER FROM THE BASEMENT so he's like, rattling the bars all "LET ME OUT!!!!!!! I NEED TO HELP!!!!!!"

The Footman by S.M. LaViolette comes to mind. It's initially a revenge plot, but the hero kind of spirals out of control (falls in love with her) and his grovel involves a lot of like, taking care of her and insisting that he's near her and fretting over her (even though she wants NOTHING to do with him by that point, which make him even more delightfully pathetic). Melissa and The Vicar also has some really good acts of service--Magnus just wants to taker care of Melissa, and Melissa has a hard time accepting care.

An Earl to Remember by Stacy Reid is a genderflipped historical retelling of Overboard; so the heroine is a chef on the hero's yacht, and he fires her before he ends up falling overboard. She finds him and he has no memory, so she ends up telling him he's her husband (naturally). As he has no memory, he's a bit shook by the fact that he doesn't actually know how to do manual labor, but he picks it up quickly enough and ends up doing a lot of literal work around her house while she watches lustfully (and guiltily).

I mean, obviously Between the Devil and Desire by Lorraine Heath is huge on this in the "I'm a strong single mother" realm, largely in that Jack Dodger is bopping around Olivia's life being like, the first truly hands-on father figure her son has ever had. But I also really LOOOOOVE the sickbed scene in this book.... When he's like, dumping her in an ice bath... forcing her to let him take care of her... Carrying her around that big ass house like she's a sack of potatoes...

OOOOOH Devil's Bride by Stephanie Laurens and Scandal's Bride both have this in SPADES. Honestly, a lot of Cynster books have this because Cynster men HAVE THE CONQUEROR'S BLOOD!!! But these two especially. Devil is big on serving Honoria in an effort to convince her that he is in fact right and she is in fact supposed to be his wife. Scandal is with Catriona, a woman who is extremely independent and used to running shit on her own, but he's like "well damn girl don't you need someone to at least like, haul shit around your property?"

One of my favorite moments in that book does include her slipping and falling on a patch of ice in the middle of berating him while he smoothly catches her, lmao.

A lot of Maiden Lane books gives this vibe to me, but Sweetest Scoundrel probably the most? Because Eve is so used to being strong and aloof, and Asa kind of forces her to let him take care of her. In so many ways.

For My Lady's Heart by Laura Kinsale is a classic in this sense, as Ruck is very literally a knight sworn to Melanthe. And initially he's not thrilled about it, tbh, because he's realized that she's a pretty morally dark gray woman who's not the lady fair he thought she was. But then it becomes more of a true service.

A Holly Jolly Ever After by Sierra Simone and Julie Murphy has this for sure. I mean, the hero is a bit bumbling about it at first but that's a part of his ARC. Learning how to back his feelings with true competence, lol.

Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood definitely has some good acts of service moments, especially because the heroine is diabetic and the hero is big on like... respectfully looking out for her. There's a scene with almonds that I particularly love.

The Mackenzie brother books are generally really good with this, though for me, The Duke's Perfect Wife takes the cake. I mean, Hart is just... HE'S JUST............................

2. YES I listen to music a lot when I write tbh, and sometimes a specific song will influence the entire vibe of a piece/the entire plot. One of my favourite fics I've written (Your Godly Path Leads Back to Him) was inspired by "Western Nights" by Ethel Cain and I could deadass only write that fic when I had that song on lol... For Icarus, I listen to Isabel LaRosa (favorite, older in particular), keshi, Dove Cameron (We Go Down Together), NBSPLV (The Lost Soul Down). Lots of sensual vibe songs mixed with some very quiet romance-y songs at the same time. Those are for the base story at least, but other drabbles I just listen to whatever fits the vibe. Fallen down the Mass Effect relay.

Hi guys, it's been such a looooooong time since I came here. Life happened and everything (mostly good things tho <3).

I started playing Mass Effect a month ago and I can't believe that game has been existing since 2007 and I had NO idea what it was.

The plot, the fabulous characters and their story arcs over 3 games, SPACE on a massive scale, the RPG elements, the voice acting by so many great people! (Martin Sheen, Claudia Black, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yvonne Strahovsky, Tricia Helfer (the fact that they got her to play an AI is hilarious), Seth Green!)

It ticks all the boxes for me. I'm playing original Femshep (DUH) who's been in a faithful relationship with Dr Liara T'soni since the first game (I mean she's a smartass scientist, she's lethal in a fight and, given my long, well documented, fandom history *waves at Dr. Scully* why would my Shep go for anyone else? Also, she's BLUE, like, all over *sigh*.

Yes, it has flaws. The "crazy eyes" of the first game, Samara's outfit (don't even get me started about Cleavage in Space (TM). All the little annoying things that shout: "Made by White Dudes". But hey, they tried, and they got many things right. (and I'll admit, the Uranus thing was juvenile but it still cracked me up)

I just started playing the third game and, oh boy, it's one hell of a ride!

I was like 'Do they know? Are they referencing it? That couldn’t possibly be the case, but…' So, purely because of your name:

The Necromancer by LeviTamm The author is a really good writer, Tanya’s inner dialogue & reactions are absolutely fucking hilarious, she’s so sick of everything. But I can only really 'recommend' this with a HUGE warning and disclaimer that this fic has some pretty heavy and graphic descriptions of gore and violence. I’m talking five whole chapters of mutilation and torture. Quite disgusting descriptions imo. I personally did not finish it, but I also have friends that swear it’s good and the gore isn’t that bad. It's a matter of taste and sensitivity, I think. I really recommend you read the full author’s note at the beginning so you know what you’re getting into and from there decide whether it’s something you can read.

A Young Girl's Delinquency Record by GremlinJack I think this is one that gets put on a lot of rec lists, but I didn't include it in my previous recommendations because I hadn’t read it at the time. Now that I have, I’m doing so. In summary, Tanya becomes a wanted international criminal on the run, and starts picking up many successful business ventures. Also Visha/Tanya is the focal ship.

Hostage by TheVideoGamer This is another one I kinda hesitate to recommend, but this time it's because of the subject matter. I really do feel like it’s a good fic if you’re looking for angst, but I have to recommend it with a huge trigger warning. This fic covers the topic of child sexual abuse, absolutely don’t read it if that’s a trigger for you.

The only reason I can recommend this fic is that it is NOT written as a lolicon rape fetish to get off on, it’s treated as the serious and delicate matter that it is. Summary for this one is that Tanya ends up taken hostage by Loria.

Die drei ??? books you would recommend reading?

In general? Pick up the books for every episode you love or find intriguing for whatever reason, esp if some (or all) of these were released until 2008ish, when they were still trying to stick to the 60 minutes mark. You'll be surprised to discover how many things got cut or moved around for the sake of the adaptation(like e.g., not to rec a BJHW book, but Späte Rache is soooo interesting, bc they completely omitted Peter's pov in the adaptation while in the novel, there are entire chapters told by him. He fucking adapts a dog in that one.)

My specific recs? This is so funny bc I haven't picked up a ddf book in so long BUT I recently started listening to one of these fan podcasts (me, 5 weeks ago: who tf listens to episode discussions that run 2,5 to 3 hours on average?!?? me now, knee-deep into catching up on 3 years worth of pod episodes, having already relistened to my fav ones several times:🤡🤡🤡), and they usually draw a comparison to the books, and it really made me want to start (re)reading again, so who knows. Just off the of my head and in no particular order

Toteninsel bc I'll always answer Toteninsel, no matter what anyone asks me. It's that good, and I actually reread it every other year or so, and sometimes I even log on to tumblrdotcom and have a meltdown over it (actually that one contains even more reasons why this is a rec). The best trilogy of the series, fight me. Extra fun if you're looking for more Bob/Jelena (I know most of you don't). But also gives you a better sense of how Marx tried to structure the narrative, putting each of our three little dudes into the spotlight in one of the three parts (that, understandably, gets lost in the adaptation).

Feuermond bc it's the series' second best trilogy, and it's even more charming in written form. The epistolary parts, which admittedly do drag in the adapation, just fly a lot better here. It gets even more apparent that Mary invented the entire second act because he had pages to fill, but it's such a delightful read that it doesn't matter at all. Must-read for the crazy sports stuff Peter pulls near the end when they're trying to get to Knox Island.

Karpatenhund bc anything written by my girl Mary Virginia is Worth It, but also iirc that story has some freaky shit in it for children's lit. Astral body, anyone??

Shoot the Works, preferably the OV (hmu in case you need it, I think I still have the pdf somewhere) bc I love it even more than all the other crimebusters (and I LOVE the other crimebusters), and also I need us all to team up and pressure Europa to finally adapt this episode. 5. Run, Meil

Manwha, shoujo, isekai, historical, romcom, memes are abundant here too, girl gang is so comedic, ML is sweet, FL isn’t dumb and is actually smart nor does she care about original storyline, og!fl is a cutie too and gets her own happy ending, miscommunications are mild and get spoken through, I’m super picky about shoujos but I love this one

Manhwa, josei but cute like a shoujo, modern, romcom, slide of life, MAJOR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, super sweet and natural love, they make each other better 🥹🥹🥹, their families can be annoying, her family I can’t really forgive, but his family is only initially overbearing but you def warm up to them, humble rich CEO dude, miscommunications but their handled pretty well and actually does something for the plot, ugh the story is so good

Mpreg is my kryptonite. Seriously. If there’s ever a ship you want me to check out, and you want an absolute guarantee that I’ll read it? Drop me an mpreg fic. I may or may not enjoy it, but I will NEVER be able to resist the siren call of mpreg. You’d think I’d be more drawn to ABO as a result, but eh. Anyway.

The dynamic here is so good. I love McFassy fics where James is something of a lil shit. Because let’s face it - he absolutely is, lol. His restlessness is so well conveyed; I’ve never been (and never will be) pregnant, but somehow I still know how he feels. And Michael being the softer, perhaps more caring one of the two is lovely. He’s certainly a tad bit overprotective, but luckily for him, it’s endearing. Their relationship is so affectionate and playful. It’s a genuine pleasure to read these two guys just existing in the world and loving each other, eagerly awaiting the birth of their child.

I love the changing names for their kiddo too, shifting as they try different ones out. That kid, when they’re born, will be so fucking cherished and adored. Also, if you read other fics of this ship by one of these writers, you start to recognize familiar tropes. Those tropes are like a warm blanket for me whenever I reread this. Reminds me of a time, years ago, when we were all just enjoying reading, writing, and experiencing the relationship - friendly, sexual, and all points in between - of these two actors. Fun times, my dudes.

😃Ok so it is Long (the story)

So my best friend (let me begin by stating she started dating when she was 13 and has major attachment issues and finds a new bf every 6 months and her family is NOT supportive and also very mafia-esque and complicated)

She was dating this one guy (I initially was against it, as I am with every relationship she has because they all end the same way but nobody ever listens to me (I'm always right about everything too)) he was just like, very underious in my opinion (I learned better later on) but yes. Now thing is, she was always the more invested person despite everything- very clingy too.

The worst part, she's the kind to forget her friends for the her bf all the damn time so whenever she dates, we lose contact until the rough patch begins and yes. The cycles works for 9 months. (I know I shouldn't bitch about her but not like you know her💀 and we haven't properly talked in 5 months since she found her new bf and so like idk lmao in basically venting, sorry😭✋✋)

With this guy, their families for super involved and her mom is very scary (I won't go in details but yes) and so slowly, they like grew apart. Around this time, last year, her ex and I had started becoming friends and we click because similar personalities but there's no attraction because just yes. I don't do losers💀

And then, all the while she was wearing off with her ex, she was emotionally getting attached to his best friend (which she knew I was almost into 💀😃) but yes—and after the break up those two got super close and now are dating.
