hi i love By The Light of The Second Moon. if it came in paperback i would sleep next to it every night. it is *chef's kiss*. i hope you dont mind me asking, but what's your writing motivation? what gets you in the zone? and do you have a list of novels you recommend? i'm in the middle of Light of the Jedi since you mentioned it and i'm enjoying it so far

Hello! Thank you so much for dropping into my ask box. I am so overjoyed reading this, that is such a big compliment and it means the world to me!

A lot of my motivation comes from my love for Maul - his character, who he is, who he could be. My craving to escape to a world where he exists (and i can smooch him). It's honestly just all about him. As it should be, I suppose 😍

What gets me in the zone is listening to music that reminds me of the story, and writing dialogue between Reader and Maul. It always gets me into it, and I tend to build the story around that at its core, their conversations and interactions. Also writing the setting, describing the woods and the rains - it tends to get me into the zone for sure!

I'm so glad you are enjoying The Light of The Jedi! It's definitely fun to be in the Star Wars world but step away from the Skywalker Saga, and I really enjoy the way that the Jedi are portrayed in it, how the force is used and presented. It's great. For Star Wars books, I'm literally head over heels with Dark Disciple by Christie Golden. It doesn't really share the vibes of my fic, but it is one of my favourite Star Wars books ever. It basically follows what happens to Ventress, and she develops a relationship with Quinlan Vos which I really liked. I also love how the Dark Side is explored. It’s so good! As for Second Moon vibes, a lot of inspiration comes from the world-building in fantasy stories by the likes of Brandon Sanderson. If you read the first Stormlight Archive novel by him, The Way of Kings, you will see some elements that inspired Second Moon for sure! And a lot of British historical fiction novels where ladies in dresses make the romance with princes in the woods (The White Queen by Philippa Gregory comes to mind).
