What are your ryomina headcanons? I've loved these two since I played P3 FES, and I'm so excited to get back into the fandom^^

as for headcanons, here's a "few" i that i tend to come back to a lot! my interpretations of them are influenced from both the source material and other's fanworks, so i've linked to them as i saw fit! hcs in no particular order under the cut because oops this got long (900 word bullet point list, mentions of reload content up to 1/1)

minato's hair is dyed blue (hair originally brown, you can see it in his roots!) and he has a beauty mark on under his left eye. i like mirror imagery and there's definitely a few arts i've rb'd that portray them this way :) (e.g. this one by feliichu and this one by marasschino)

as far as i'm concerned the bathhouse scene from the manga where ryoji's hair down = similar shape to minato? that is canon to me. this art from xierru is a fun depiction of hair down ryoji :D

ryoji is homeless. everyone say thank you foxmulder_whereartthou for this awesome fic it's why i have the headcanon! but like seriously. we have no idea where ryoji lives and i could believe this.

minato dying at the end of the game is sad to an outsider's POV BUT!!! ryomina gets to be together in death for the rest of their lives (this illustration from mafuwara is a gorgeous representation of them as nyx avatar + the seal)!

speaking of the seal, they are like telepathically communicating to me in the great seal together. (mymp3 had a comic wip with this. give it a looksie :D)

ryoji likes cuddling with minato because he's warm :) (something something orpheus has fire affinity, minato is warm by extension and ryoji is cold because he's death)

ryoji's camera roll is filled with pictures of minato! ryoji... loves life, to me. and i feel that photography and journaling are perfect ways of expressing gratitude and capturing the moments in life that are most important to you :3

my other favorite activity for these two is stargazing- i feel like it's something they could appreciate either in life or death (looking at the stars from the great seal...)! they do a bit of this in the fic eurydice's vow by crescentmoontea (P5R spoilers, takes place in third sem it's a very fun fic concept).

between ryoji and minato i feel like ryoji was the one who fell in love first- and it doesn't really click in place for minato that he loves ryoji until december hits (appriser reveal + ryoji transforming into thanatos). its about the realization that ryoji was with him for his whole life and that he gets him like no one else does.

ryoji is like a sad and wet puppy who is so scared minato won't like him back. he is so scared of being rejected by minato to me like. this boy straight up deflates after he does his "i know i said i wanted us to be friends, but... i actually want to be something more." / "what about you?" on 12/1 ???

AND SPEAKING of wet puppy ryoji. ryoji is like. every animal in the world to me. he's a bird. he's a cat. etc. and also ryoji knows every language in the world ever and uses it to express his love for minato. see this fic from superheroics to see what i mean.

both of them are lactose intolerant. "this isn't lactose, it's milk!" i definitely think ryoji would make himself sick eating ice cream and milk he doesn't know what lactose is. (i made a silly poll about this once and the tags were very entertaining.)

i see minato as transmasc or nonbinary depending on the day (schrodinger's headcanons babey they're simultaneously true and not true at the same time!!). either way he's not cis to me and ryoji is like. His Gender. anyway go read this fic by nail_gun for t4t ryomina :D !

ryomina are WEIRD GUYS TO ME!!! they are so strange and they understand each other better than anyone else because of the circumstances of their relationship!!! if you asked them to do the "i wonder what i taste like" meme i think they'd start biting each other (affectionate) tbh but that's just me.

after ryoji gives minato the music box in 12/31 on reload, minato listens to the music box every night in january. this boy has insomnia and also chronic illness to me (things that housing death does to you). but i think he finds comfort in the melody and memories he made with ryoji.

in general, i think it's fun to imagine minato taking ryoji to places and show him things he's interested in! i feel that ryoji takes a lot of interest in minato's life, this isn't really a hc because in reload, minato DOES give ryoji a tour of the school (11/9) and possibly port island (11/12). but ITS CUTE OK! (tangentially related fanwork: this series of doodles from vinnigami: 1, 2, and 3)

not a hc but minato's kindness is like the backbone of their relationship and i think we would not have the ryomina we know and love today if minato wasn't such a kind soul. oh minato.... we can learn so much from you... like ryoji did!

The implied killing each other, but also the desire to find each other again in the afterlife!! Especially, I'm thinking about the “I want to die like this // I love you, able to answer so honestly and purely”. I think about this a lot- when push comes to shove, I think there's no other way Akutagawa would have wanted to die. He's so unfit to life, so made for violence and death, that he always knew he had to die, one way or the other; I mean, he already experienced dying twice, and neither time showed much regret or resentment for his life coming to an end. He's got a terminal illness. Overall, as someone who was always meant to die from the moment he was born, he must have felt like there was no better way to die than dying for a loved one, where him loving someone felt like a miracle of his own, he himself probably believing he could have never been able to love anyone. I'm sure Akutagawa would consider that the best way he could have died (“I want to die like this”), I'm sure the “You damn fool // Hurry up and go” is his own “I love you, able to answer so honestly and purely”

But I agree that the line you pointed to is extremely sskk, especially from an Akutagawa pov. I do believe Akutagawa sees Atsushi as this kind of ethereal being, someone who's destined to heaven, because that's what he deserves, because he's made for a world that is “pure and new”. No matter his hateful words, in the end Akutagawa was never able to see anything but perfection in Atsushi. Maybe that's actually their greatest difference.

So basically its a little abstract but hear me out The idea comes from the definition of the word 'apotelesma' which translates to "the influence of the stars on human destiny"- and in the case of origins, it relates to how o!jordan and o!scott are bound to each other in a way that transcends soulmates, its more like having an intent and purpose on two sides of the same coin, being so inherently tied together whether it be what you're seeking or why you were there in the first place, that it manifests in the form of a power so great that it has the potential to influence how things go.

In the case of Jordan and Scott, its that they fall on two sides of justice (the balanced/calcuated side, with Scott being Ia's son, and Jordan the more not necessarily chaotic, but driven/passionate side as Dia's son) and are bound to the Overworld and the Homeplanet (respectively), the two forms of home- they bridge that metaphysical gap by providing the other with a second half to some kind of intrinsic power they already possess. And they can use that for all sorts of things, but mainly to create rifts (contd.)

(Its also meant to sort of explain why once only purple particles on Scott are suddenly becoming red more frequently, because his soul bound guy is here now. It'd be even further proven if Jordan starts showing purple in his particles that them existing in the same place is empowering one another in a funky kinda way)

From a practical standpoint, this is how I think Jordan's gonna be able to get back to the homeworld- via some kind of portal, some kind of rift. The way he talks about the homeworld makes it seem like very distant place, and to me that makes me think about it that its a place alike to the End, or the Nether, which can only be accessed via portals. So, what if the homeplanet is maybe 4 wormholes away, or a dimension alike to the Nether that could be accessed via something like an Aether portal. So the stars above the sky are an Aether i guess?? idk I think it could just be really neat?? but the catch is that for it to work under this whole pretense I've set up, they'd need a key (like a flint and steel to activate it that they'd have to work together to make)

And the parts of that key could be something they'd have to craft (that only they can) based on some intrinsic quality they have about themselves, or if you wanted to get some kinda Big Server Endgame lore, it will involve the two of them having some kind of hand in an event that either saves or drastically alters the server in someway; I started thinking about having to save it, along the lines of corrupted fabrics of reality at the hands of the DMCA something something opening a rift to protect the server

Jordan's half of this "influencing" power comes from his dad, cause in SKoD Dianite uses a similar power alongside Queen Khailani to banish Anphidhea to the Spaces Between; Scotts comes from Ianite, but is amplified in the time he got shot from the homeworld to the Overworld, something about wormholes and stuff i haven't quite figured it all out yet [:

i forgot, i had one of the most gender-euphoric encounters i’ve ever had :)

so the other day i was gonna go hang out with my mom and my sis, and i had been going to pick up pizza on my way to my sister’s house that she had ordered online. so i go inside and im talking to the guy at the counter, and as i give him the info there’s this older guy off to the side talking to a different employee, in a way that kinda implies he knows the employees there (i assume either he worked there or was just a very frequent customer?)

anyway so while the guy i was talking to is pulling stuff up on the computer, the older guy comes over to me and makes a joke about “[the employee] likes it when you tip him $20, gives him money to take out his wife” and then he looks at me properly, and now is the point where i mention that this is what i was wearing at the time:

^^^ this outfit, along with a facemask, and very importantly i have got a silver ring on my ring finger of my left hand, the one you can’t see - in the place of a wedding band.

so he gestures to my silver ring and says “would your wife be okay with that? [in reference to me tipping $20]” and i laughed and said “yeah, i’m sure she would”

and the older guy corrected himself here, saying “oh would your husband-” with me cutting him off saying “no no, my wife would im sure”

but it’s just ksdhfkshdf it was so clear in the way he said it that it wasn’t simply a slip of the tongue saying wife again, he meant to say wife, he just thought i was a guy ;;;; up until i spoke, given that i have a higher voice, he had no doubt at all about it.

that was such a good feeling GODS i love it when that happens.

ngl, I've been reading this all day, and it continues to blow my mind (and I might have cried a little). I don't really believe I'm anyone's favorite writer, but it's such a sweet thing to say.

You aren't the first person to compliment me on scene work, so I might start to finally believe it! I just... see scenes clearly, but feel like I can never fully express them the way I want to. So I try to work around that best I can. Excessive detail. (One of the many 'writing in your second language' limitations? maybe!)

As for new stuff... Lots of things written (more than will ever see the light of day, tbh *points to ESL, lack of confidence, not wanting to be a bother*), but I haven't been feeling up to editing them. Hopefully soon! I also need to ramp up studying/doing practice tests for the theoretical driving test right about now, so I can sit it at the end of the month. I promise the works number will go up before my birthday!
