june 29th, or a little more that 6 months ago i posted my first fic. that was honestly the best decision of my life because tho tumblr is a hellsite it’s a hellsite that got me through a hellish year. i just want to come out and express my extreme gratitude for all of the people who have gotten me through 2020.

hi hello it’s me your local mess. ok so this hit me on my way to work the other day and since it’s friday i feel like today is a good day to hopefully make someone’s day/night/weekend a little brighter? 

i love reading fanfics. periodt. there are lots of incredible writers out there on this site and other platforms who take time to write beautiful fics about the real people and characters and their emotional support kpop ladies and gentlemen to show their love and appreciation so i want to dedicate this to my favorite fics of this year. these fanfics are of varying lengths and genres but they all have two things in common 1) they were posted this year 2) i love them.

love love love love LOVE familiar stranger! a beautiful story about reader losing all memories of the last five years due to an accident which includes her entire life with fiancé kim jongdae. dae is an angel, we all know that, but he’s somehow even more angelic as the most patient person ever in familiar stranger. this hits right in the feels (can you tell i love to read angst ahjdsf) and it’s not your usual wham bam thank you ma’am all-memories-recovered-in-five-seconds kind of situation either and i’m praying for another update of this because this is not just one of the best fics of this year but one of my favorites period.

I just want to take a quick minute and say that this fic really made this year a bit easier for me. I went through some weird stuff this year (i swear this year was throwing punches left and right at everyone) and Mood Tattoo on some days truly saved me from a breakdown. I’m not saying that to try and put any type of pressure on you or anything! But it truly allowed me to escape reality at times and forget about the outside world and the problems i had 1/5

and just get lost in this nice, beautiful world you created. It allowed me to take a breath and “stop existing” for a second. Even though shit was still there once I read it, it just made it easier to deal with because (even through a PAINFUL angst) it relaxed me and i was able to recharge a bit. So thank you for this. I remember when you teased med au and when I found out it’ll be an Eliott pov I was very 🤔 because it’s rare to find fics with his pov. I feel like 2/5

Lucas is easier to write since we already know him. But my gosh, hand on my heart, as much as I wished at times to have his pov, this story really wouldn’t be what it is through Lucas’s eyes. I loved every second of it. It was like a giant complicated enigma the entire time and every time I thought I was maybe a step ahead of you with my dumb theories, you humbled me real fast! 😂 I can’t believe this is about to be over, I feel like yesterday i was going all skahdkak 3/5

It’s so crazy and weird how fast it went by and how much I wish you’d be like HA KIDDING HERE IS 12 EXTRA BONUS CHAPTERS OF THE ICONIC DOCTOR DUOS!! 😩 but I just have to say the time and effort and creativity that it takes to create something as beautiful as Mood Tattoo (and Tempo and HE as well (dont get me started on those two)) is immaculate. 4/5

Oh my gosh! First, my apologies for taking a minute to get back to you. I have been off tumblr for a day or two and got behind. But this is just the loveliest message so thank you so much!!! I so agree this year was seriously throwing punches (like even world crisis events aside it was the same for me so I feel you). If this story could provide a happy distraction, I couldn’t be more glad. I very much understand the need for that escapism into stories and fiction and it’s so freaking surreal and amazing that I could create that for you! 

And that you loved Eliott’s pov too! That’s wonderful! I feel like the time went so quickly too wtf. I truly live in a time warp. But it was the absolute most fun to put all the time and energy into the story too. And all of you are wonderful to send me notes and feedback like this. It makes it really easy to share, let me tell you. It was a more challenging process to write this one. Not because of any of you, but because life really was a bit of a challenge for me and it made putting focus on writing quite difficult at times. But god I’m glad I did.
