RAINBOW GURU

In Rewalsar, known as Tso Pema in Tibetan, he secretly taught tantric teachings to princess Mandarava, the local king's daughter. The king found out and tried to burn him, but it is believed that when the smoke cleared he was found to be just sitting there, still alive and in meditation.Thus the king was greatly astonished by this miracle, the king offered Padmasambhava both his kingdom and Mandarava.

Padmasambhava then left with Mandarava, and took to Maratika Cave in Nepal to practice secret tantric consort rituals.

They had a vision of buddha Amitayus and achieved what is called the Rainbow body of the great transference in the Vajrayana tradition, a very rare type of spiritual realization.Practitioners of Padmasambhava's terma still achieve this type of realization today.Both Padmasambhava and Mandarava are still believed to be alive and active in this Rainbow Body form by their followers. She and Padmasambhava's other main consort, Yeshe Tsogyal who was responsible for hiding his numerous terma later in Tibet became fully enlightened.

Vajradhara is the progenitor of all the tantric transmissions of the Kagyu tradition. He is deep blue in colour, holds a vajra and bell in his crossed hands, is adorned with the thirteen silk and jeweled ornaments, and sits in vajra-posture upon a white moon, multicoloured lotus.

Primordial Buddha' Vajradhara seated at the centre of the Karma Kagyu Refuge Tree, with the main lineage holders of this tradition in the upper canopy of the tree, its principal meditational deities in the lower branches, and its main protective deities on the row of clouds beneath the tree.

Kurukulla has a standard recognized appearance that is very common along with other forms that are less well known. There are numerous forms and lineages of Kurukulla arising from the Kriya and Anuttarayoga classes of Buddhist tantra of the New (Sarma) traditions and many forms from the 'Terma' (Revealed Treasure) discoveries of the Nyingmapa Tradition. She can appear peaceful or semi wrathful and in a range of colours from white, pink and blue to her more typical red colour. In the Kriya tantras she is often portrayed, but not exclusively, as a red power emanation of Tara. .

The Bodhisattva Maitreya, the Buddha of the future. Maitreya is believed to currently reside in Tushita Heaven and is typically depicted as having either a peaceful appearance (Bodhisattva) or Buddha appearance. Maitreya Budhha is depicted sitting on the throne in meditative posture, waiting for his time. He will reintroduce the True Dharma to the world. Maitreya is depicted in a posture symbolizing that he is ready to arise in response to the need of the world and descend to turn the wheel of Dharma, as Shakyamuni did before him. Kuntu Zangpo is the Primordial Buddha. The name Kuntu Zangpo means “that which is most excellent and present in all places.” Thus our ancient texts refer to Kuntu Zangpo as being “Self-Awareness”, “True Self” and “Source of the Self”.

This Primordial Buddha has never had to attain enlightenment and liberation from Samsara because He has been fully and perfectly enlightened from the very beginning.

He has never even entered into the delusions of Samsara in the first place. He has nothing to attain or realize; He simply is what He is from the very beginning and never otherwise.
