Well this was originally for the Weekly Prompt on LU discord, but I broke the rules so I couldn't submit OTL T-T

Still, this took me hours going through Jojo's comics, looking for the best images, and I had so So SO much fun with this. I hope someone enjoys lol ^~^

*EDIT* (Just want to note that character art is originally from Jojo's comic @linkeduniverse, and ya should check it out if ya haven't already. All I did was search for images, collage em together, and retrace/alter a couple things because some of these kiddos were blurry blurry blurry from being blown up or they needed a slight facial expression change *cough*MalonandTimeI'mlookingatyou*cough*. Felt the need to add this note just in case some friends don't know what LU is because I never thought this'd reach more than like five maybe six people. 😅)

I need to talk about how utterly devastating Daisy’s expression is when Daniel volunteers to stay behind in the finale (before Deke takes one for the team instead) because it genuinely makes me SICK to think about.

Look at her:

It’s her sudden realisation that the one thing- the only thing- that she has wanted for herself for years is being torn away from her again.

Because of course it is, just like everything else in her goddamn life.

Of course, just when she starts to hope for something, the universe steals it away from her. Because when has it not?

She almost looks betrayed- betrayed by herself if anything. Because she let her guard down, she let herself feel again, and it was all for nothing.

And the pure disbelief in her eyes, as if she can’t fathom that it’s happening again at first- genuinely the one thing she fears the most- is heartbreaking. It’s genuinely so, so shattering.

But HEY, it’s fine. Deke stepped in and now they get to live happily ever after, the end. :,D It’s fine everything is FINE.

Remember when aos introduced a new character in 2018 and made a one off joke about lemons and from then on the whole fandom loved him and called him Lemon Boy and at the beginning of the next season we weren't even sure if he would come back but then he did come back and not only that but he came back owning a company with yellow decorations and a lemon logo and lemon trees and lemon posters and the ep was called Code Yellow . "Babe," Jim says to the ceiling.

"No."

"Darling?" At the affronted silence, Jim tries: "Baby doll?"

Spock huffs. "I believe you are intentionally making them worse."

Jim rolls over to his stomach, flopping an arm over Spock's bare chest with a groan. "You're the one intentionally vetoing every endearment I come up with."

"Then I suggest," Spock kisses the tip of Jim's nose, so close to his face, "that you find a suitable one."

"A suitable one?"

"One that encompasses our relationship."

Jim thinks on it for a moment. Grins in the wake of a complicated puzzle, one that he can turn over in his hand like a Rubik's cube. "Challenge accepted, then."

The first attempt: on the bridge. "Thank you, gorgeous," Jim says to Spock as he hands him a PADD, smiling beatifically. Spock's glare makes his smile drop.

Second: as Spock comes out of the shower, Jim throwing a towel on his wet hair and murmuring, "Hello, sexy," to which he receives a "Absolutely not."

Third: in the rec room, as him and Spock play chess while Bones reads in the corner. "Checkmate, sugar," he purrs, to which Spock simply stands and walks away from.

"The hell are you doing?" Bones asks over his book.

Jim sighs as he sets the pieces back on the board. "Trying to find something more romantic to say in bed rather than 'Spock'."

Bones stares into the middle distance for a moment. Looks back down at his book. "I don't know why I ask."

"He's shooting down every one," Jim protests. "I don't know what to do."

"You stop dicking around and find one he actually likes," Bones snaps. "And leave me out of it while you do."

Jim hums. Considers. "What do you think about—"

Raising a hand, not looking up from his book, Bones says, "Leave. Me. Out of it."

Jim tries a few more over the next few days ("Sweetheart", which was close; "Honey", which was worse; "Bae," to try what the kids are into). None worked. Each one made Jim more and more convinced that Spock may just break up with him to get Jim to stop trying.

Shore leave came, and Jim rents them a modest little cabin in the middle of a field of wildflowers and wood to apologize. A lake spreads far and clear a few miles from the cabin, with a little overgrown path leading to it. Jim finds Spock there one morning, taking notes in his PADD as he observes a few errant wildflowers growing in the crack of a boulder.

"This planet is fascinating," he says as Jim approaches, knowing it's Jim by his footsteps alone. "The flora grows where you wouldn't think it to be. The soil is fertile, and yet these wildflowers chose the sandy cracks of this boulder. Almost in spite of the conditions."

Jim grins, sticking his hands in his pockets, observing Spock's crouched position, the curve of his shoulders. He knows them like old friends by now; could draw his lines by memory.

"Beloved," he says, too soft for human ears to hear, but perfect for a Vulcan's.

Spock turns his head, mouth slightly agape. His cheeks are getting that adorable green tint that Jim loves to be the cause of.

Jim smiles. The sun is warm on his back as he holds out a hand to Spock, helping him up, running a finger down Spock's flushed cheek. "Is this suitable, Mr. Spock?"

Spock's kiss comes fierce and surprising. It takes Jim's breath away as Spock pulls back, his hand folding into Jim's. "Quite acceptable," he breathes.

for context: star trek into darkness (specifically, my take on the implications of bones doing what he had to do and the emotional fallout of those missing scenes) (not that ive seen it!! but ive read enough fic to know the gist of it LMAO) (can you believe this started as an impulse draw to see if i could use pastels to convey heavy emotions and now im writing a very very long headcanon in my notes app.)

Leonard goes and he plays god, and injects Jim with that godforsaken blood, and then there is nothing left to do but wait.

He sinks into the chair at his desk, and steeples his fingers together. It occurs to him that these circumstances are the sort that would drive any religious man to bow his head and clasp his hands together, like so, and pray.

--but he is a doctor, and he has never been religious, and he has a duty to do, and he has broken his oath, and there is blood on his hands and flecking his shirt.

Leonard sits very still at his desk and weeps, and he does not pray.

sorry to all of y'all who had to find out i was an angst goblin this way <///3 but basically the hc/rough fic is an extension of the angst potential of that one scene where jim wakes up and fixates on spock (and his lack of response towards bones is never addressed afterwards i think? not sure but it's an interesting premise imo)

brief summary: bones never gets closure from jim after he wakes up because jim and spock get together immediately after and it just slips their minds, so bones is stuck in "oh god jim's dying" mode and feels absolutely terrible, but the bridge crew helps a bit by being there for him to hang out with, but still bones does overwork while trying to work through the sense of wrongness of not being able to have his emotional needs met after the whole jim dying fiasco and feeling like his best friend has forgotten him. he admittedly makes good progress (by which i mean he's able to take really big overwhelming feelings and put them away well enough in his daily life to function relatively normally) but the crushing grief is always in the background. about a month or so after spirk gets together, spock accidentally brushes bones' arm and is absolutely slammed by a wave of unexpected exhaustion and emotional pain and is like ??????!!!????????? long story short he drags bones to jim and bones cries for the first time since jim "died" and it is immensely cathartic and then jim blurts out a confession because he has horrible timing and asks bones to join him and spock and obviously bones cries harder and spock is about to smack jim upside the head lmao (bones says its way too much to process and he needs time but hes not exactly opposed, and they all start spending more time together, and then eventually bones is like fuck it and asks for a kiss and they finally get together !!!!!!)
