Since I'm a fan of stand-up comedians like Maria Bamford, Kate Berlant, and Aparna Nancherla, I'm always seeking out more female voices in the male-dominated field of comedy—particularly new works by women comics.
As such, I wanted to highlight two female comedians who have recently been appearing on my social media feed to my great delight!
First, Sara Schaefer's Comedy Central showcase has been officially uploaded on YouTube, and it is absolutely wonderful. I first read Sara's comedic writing when she was an editor for Best Week Ever Blog, along with Michelle Collins and Dan Hopper, so I was already familiar with her witty way of thinking.

However, this special is so entertaining and fun that I'm thinking I need to see her perform live sometime soon haha
Second, if you've looked at my header before, you'll know I am a HUGE fan of Garfunkel and Oates.
Well, it looks like one-half of the comedy duo—Kate Micucci—has been releasing music videos for her upcoming children's album called My Hat, and they are all delightful.
Here's her newest one about the Ghosts of Pasadena!

Fun fact: Kate's music video director is Caitlin Gerard, whom Bo Burnham fans will easily recognize as his love interest Amy on the MTV gem Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous.
And Bo knows both Kate and Riki Lindhome really well! Since they are all musical comedians, Garfunkel and Oates often performed in the same venues as Bo, AND they participated in a Nerdist bowling game together. Plus, Kate and Riki were at the premiere of Bo's directorial debut. So cool!

I hope you enjoy the videos, and keep it here for more comedy fun! ✌🏼🐔
you know what, when jo march (2019) said “i can’t believe childhood is over” and when emily brontë wrote “i wish i was a girl again, half savage and hardy and free” and when taylor swift sung “and though i can’t recall your face i still got love for you” and when barbie cried and hermione granger said “it’s all going to change now” and lucy pensive cried over leaving narnia for the last time and lorde wrote “but all that stranger would see/ is one girl swaying alone, stroking her cheek” i really felt it, the pain of losing childhood friends and forgetting the joy of adventure only found in the savage imagination of a pre teen girl.
Sometimes I think abt Obey Me and there’s this gnawing feeling deep in my chest because of how so much of the story/characters were repeatedly flattened. There’s so much potential and I (along with so many others) have such a deep attachment to the characters and the world building; it’s just that the execution missed the mark sometimes and a cash grab like NB is. Frankly devastating to me conceptually. Have been contemplating opening it and trying it out but ultimately it makes me too sad every time. I’m terrible with change though, so maybe I’m just biased.
[ID : four pencil sketches, digitally colored, of characters from the 2019 show Carmen Sandiego.
Carmen as seen by Zack and Ivy during their first meeting in the donut shop, but she looks closer to her young appearance in VILE island : her hair goes to her shoulders, her face is rounder and she wears the coat and hat she stole from Cookie Booker. She is frowning and balling her fists as if trying to appear intimidating.
Carmen on the runway in Milan. Her hair, in a ponytail, is fluffy like her regular hair. She looks to the viewer with a cocky smile as she strikes a pose.
Julia in Rio, wearing the ACME suit with the pants instead of the skirt. She is leaning against the table where Carmen and Shadowsan were drinking coffee, looking intently at a cup.
Zack at the party in Dubai, wearing a black jacket with a complex multicolored pattern. He looks to the side with a smile. /End ID]
Some things I wish we'd seen in season 2 of Carmen Sandiego! In no particular order, a visibly younger and scruffy Carmen during her first meeting with Ivy and Zack, Carmen's Milan runway look having her fluffy hair instead of it being straightened, Julia in an ACME pantsuit instead of the skirt, and Zack wearing a more original jacket than the black one he wore in the Emirates.
(Zack's suit is from here, because I could not design something this complicated)
“Throughout Henry’s exile, Margaret (Beaufort) seems to have been a faithful correspondent, keeping her son abreast of affairs in England. Though none of their letters from this period have survived, it is highly probable that they contained sentiments similar to those she expressed in her later letters to him: she often gave him her blessing, and on one occasion, in a reflection of her affection towards him, she assured Henry that ‘I trust you shall well perceive I shall deal towards you as a kind, loving mother’. At this time, however, Margaret was clearly considering the possibility of bringing about his return, though she also recognised that this would take time. As her standing with Edward IV improved, so too did her confidence to effect a reconciliation. If she could continue to win the king’s trust, Henry’s foreign exile could potentially be brought to an end.
By the beginning of June 1482, her efforts appear to have produced some results when Edward agreed that Henry could receive a share of his grandmother the dowager Duchess of Somerset’s lands to the value of £400 (£276,500) if he were to return ‘to be in the grace and favour of the king’s highness’. Edward signed the agreement on 3 June, attaching his official seal. A draft still survives and can be found among Margaret’s papers. The groundwork for Henry to return home had been laid. Edward’s grip on the reins of power was unchallenged, and with two surviving sons, his dynasty appeared to be assured—Margaret’s son was no longer a threat. Thus it was that, on an unknown date, Edward—curiously, using the same piece of paper on which Margaret’s second husband had been created Earl of Richmond—drafted a pardon for her son. Margaret began to hope that she and Henry would soon be reunited.”

I think making sweeping generalizations of specific traits being considered "ugly" is not great the same way i think its rude and unnecessary to call others ugly, i also think its worthwhile to acknowledge that certain traits ARE considered "Ugly" due to societal beauty standards, that doesn't make them ACTUALLY ugly, bc beauty is subjective anyway, and can be found Anywhere, and even someone who seems to tick every single box of societal beauty Ideals will almost certainly have at least one trait or feature about their appearance that they are insecure about or feel is "ugly", bc even within the constraints of conventional attractiveness theres subjectivity
also this fish was so fucking Ugly and i adored it so much. i miss him.
