Got corrected on TikTok when I mentioned that "Tim blew up all the LOA bases" isn't, like. Factual
Cuz it's not. First of all. They had enough warning to evacuate(which is comicbook meta code for "everyone got out alive"). Second, it wasn't even that all the buildings themselves got exploded and brought to crumbles. It was certain physical storage that was blown up, and then assorted digital storage that was short circuited—and the people nearby that didn't even get electrocuted
Like. It's comics. Unless you are explicitly told/shown as a reader that someone(s) died, then it's rule of thumb to believe they're alive
HOWEVER. In Red Robin, you could argue that Tim already is "delusional" that Bruce is still alive despite other evidence, so he could be delusional about the LoA membersc lives as well? But I think that's a lil too loose, so meh

Fantastic Four Vol. 1 Annual 1977
Tues Aug 27 2019 [12:59 AM] Wack'd: We open with Johnny testing an experimental racecar [12:59 AM] maxwellelvis: As he does [01:00 AM] Wack'd: Truly life is a hurricane here in...*checks notes*...Nassau County [01:00 AM] Wack'd: So Crystal and Lockjaw materialize in the backseat of the car and snatch Johnny away on some urgent business [01:01 AM] Wack'd: Poor Ted, who is the guy who designed this racecar! I feel bad for him despite the fact that he doesn't even rate a mention on Marvel Wiki [01:01 AM] KarkatTheDalek: That's another reason to feel bad for him, I think [01:02 AM] KarkatTheDalek: What must it be like to be a near complete non-entity... [01:02 AM] Wack'd: Marv Wolfman has apparently decided that Lockjaw's bark sounds like "wurf" and therefore his teleportation is called "wurfing". I agree with both these decisions [01:02 AM] KarkatTheDalek: That's amazing [01:03 AM] KarkatTheDalek: Who needs *BAMF* when you have wurf [01:03 AM] Bocaj: Amaze [01:03 AM] Wack'd: So the Great Refuge has been conquered! Again! Every goddamn week, with these people [01:03 AM] Wack'd: Sure
Tumblr media
[01:04 AM] maxwellelvis: Is that one of the yetis? [01:04 AM] Wack'd: I...don't think so? I hope not [01:05 AM] Wack'd: He's a one-off villain from the Inhumans book [01:05 AM] Wack'd: He never appears again after this [01:05 AM] Wack'd: Johnny blows up his gun but he has a force field, which is very good [01:06 AM] Wack'd: Also apparently Crystal can now call down lightning from the sky like she's Storm or something [01:06 AM] Wack'd: Also tornadoes! She has definitely been confused for Storm [01:06 AM] Bocaj: tornadoes is just air [01:06 AM] Wack'd: Not that this does any good. It's a really good force field you guys [01:07 AM] Wack'd: Honestly, like. He would have to just sit in there forever, I think? Not really conducive to ruling a city. [01:07 AM] Wack'd: Maybe he can move the force field around, I dunno [01:08 AM] maxwellelvis: Somebody get some club soda! [01:08 AM] Wack'd: Meanwhile in Hollywood a Fantastic Four movie is being made. It is going poorly [01:09 AM] Wack'd: Sue is irritated that the actress playing her looks nothing like her and is wearing a low-cut bathing suit. Ben is irritated he's been replaced by a giant robot [01:09 AM] Wack'd: Reed is irritated Johnny's been written out because the effects are too expensive [01:10 AM] maxwellelvis: Somewhere, Jessica Alba and Carl Ciarfalio feel insulted. So does HERBIE. And none are sure why. [01:10 AM] Wack'd: And in case you're wondering the Fantastic Four cartoon series that couldn't get the rights to Johnny because they were tangled up in a movie deal had entered production at roughly this time [01:10 AM] maxwellelvis: Spooky [01:10 AM] Wack'd: Or, you know [01:10 AM] Wack'd: People at Marvel knew what was up [01:11 AM] Wack'd: Seems more likely than precognition [01:11 AM] Wack'd: Why do I feel like this guy is a parody of someone specific?
Tumblr media
[01:12 AM] maxwellelvis: Dino. [01:12 AM] maxwellelvis: That's who. [01:13 AM] Wack'd: ...from The Flintstones? [01:13 AM] maxwellelvis: The robot, the accent, the emphasis on gimmicks [01:13 AM] maxwellelvis: DeLaurentiis. [01:14 AM] Wack'd: Oooooh [01:14 AM] Wack'd: Brainfart [01:14 AM] maxwellelvis: and of course, the glasses [01:14 AM] Wack'd: I know of him by vague reputation but was unaware of his...peculiarities [01:15 AM] maxwellelvis: The onion smell, I thought was a reference to SenSurround, but I don't know if he had anything to do with *Earthquake!* [01:16 AM] maxwellelvis: But he was an odd man. [01:16 AM] Wack'd: Anyway the giant Thing robot goes berserk. Who could've seen this coming [01:17 AM] Wack'd: Oh hey at least one person can be proven to have liked The Gong Show 😛
Tumblr media
[01:18 AM] maxwellelvis: The emphasis on spectacle that the robot provides sounds just like him. As does cutting Johnny from the movie entirely to save on expenses. This is the guy who had a big argument with Sam Raimi over how many explosions should be in the climatic battle in Army of Darkness, after all. [01:18 AM] maxwellelvis: That caricature of Jamie Farr is kinder to him than real life ever was. [01:19 AM] Wack'd: He was kind of transphobic so I'm okay with this [01:20 AM] Wack'd: Ben throws a gong through the robot's neck, decapitating it [01:20 AM] Wack'd: I did not see The Gong Show being plot-relevant but here we are [01:21 AM] maxwellelvis: The Gong Show was probably taped, but I'm pretty sure that's gonna make the final cut anyways. [01:22 AM] maxwellelvis: If anyone has the connections to get the Four to sign off on that, it's Chuck Barris. [01:22 AM] Wack'd: They do keep it in the show [01:22 AM] Wack'd: It gets a 6 [01:22 AM] maxwellelvis: Heh [01:22 AM] maxwellelvis: That's good. [01:24 AM] Wack'd: So Johnny, Crystal, and Lockjaw come back and wurf Ben back to the Great Refuge [01:24 AM] Wack'd: And also stopped to pick up Reed and Sue off-panel [01:25 AM] maxwellelvis: Probably because Ben would have the funniest reaction. I'm getting the feeling this Annual is focusing on humor. [01:25 AM] Wack'd: Well, that bit was [01:25 AM] Wack'd: Ben mostly just grumbles that they ruined his chances of a regular gig [01:26 AM] maxwellelvis: I could see Ben as the new Unknown Comic, honestly. [01:26 AM] Wack'd: So uh apparently a buncha stuff happened in the Inhumans book [01:26 AM] Wack'd: The Great Refuge was destroyed and the Royal Family retreated to space [01:26 AM] Wack'd: Thraxon tried to organize a rebuilding effort but Pietro accused him of trying to usurp Black Bolt and got real mad [01:26 AM] maxwellelvis: Did they finally build Attilan yet? [01:27 AM] Wack'd: It's just what the Great Refuge is called apparently [01:27 AM] maxwellelvis: Huh. [01:27 AM] Wack'd: So anyway Thraxon points out that Pietro is not Inhuman and this gets all the other Inhumans sans Crystal to turn on him [01:28 AM] Wack'd: The Inhuman Royal Family returned and Thraxon kicked all their asses [01:29 AM] Wack'd: We're spending a lot of page time on what's frankly kinda a foregone conclusion, honestly. I'm skipping over a lot of fight scenes that impact literally nothing [01:31 AM] Wack'd: The seldom-seen little sibling of "Sue tries to do something awesome and gets her ass kicked", "Sue does something awesome and literally falls unconscious from the strain"
Tumblr media
[01:31 AM] Wack'd: Apparently Thraxon expanded his force field over the whole city. So that's his game [01:32 AM] Wack'd: But not anymore [01:32 AM] Wack'd: Another part of Thraxon's plan is to literally strap the Royal Family and Pietro to a rocket and shoot them into space [01:33 AM] Wack'd: You know, the place they just came back from [01:33 AM] Wack'd: Sure [01:33 AM] maxwellelvis: At least this time she was just faint for a moment and not out for the rest of the fight. [01:34 AM] Wack'd: So fortunately Thraxton loses his powers because the person who gave them to him, "the Dreaded One", has deserted him [01:34 AM] Wack'd: For some reason [01:35 AM] Wack'd: The Four take their own rocket and follow the Inhuman rocket and-- [01:35 AM] Wack'd: C'mon I just made a Mystery Science Theater 3000 joke
Tumblr media
[01:36 AM] Wack'd: It's weird realizing only this year do the Four suddenly exist in a world containing Star Wars
Tumblr media
[01:38 AM] Wack'd: fuck ooooooooff
Tumblr media
[01:41 AM] Wack'd: I'll save you the trouble--a Nova villain who menaced the Four and the Inhumans enough to make it into two issues of the Fantastic Four: Foes miniseries. Also fought the New Warriors and Night Thrasher. Last seen in a Howling Commandos arc from 2016
Tumblr media
[01:42 AM] maxwellelvis: He's terribly mysterious [01:43 AM] Wack'd: Character shilling! Also apparently Aaron's staff did eat the staffs of Egyptians what were also turned into snakes. Did not learn this in Hebrew school
Tumblr media
[01:44 AM] maxwellelvis: What were you taught? [01:45 AM] Wack'd: Moses turns his staff into a snake to prove God is real but Pharaoh writes it off as a stupid trick [01:46 AM] Wack'd: Presumably because we as kids would be a bit baffled by the idea that all other Gods are fake but also Egyptians had real magic on hand [01:46 AM] Wack'd: It is indeed a bit of a puzzlement [01:46 AM] maxwellelvis: Yeah, the version I'm aware of had the Pharaoh bring in his best magicians to show he's not impressed, but Moses is the one who shows that the other is doing a cheap trick, because his snake is bigger and kills the other two. [01:47 AM] maxwellelvis: Prince of Egypt makes it into a big smoke-and-mirrors routine. [01:47 AM] maxwellelvis: Literally. [01:47 AM] Wack'd: There's no, uh. Rationale in the Bible? [01:47 AM] Wack'd: It's literally just "some other Egyptians turned up and turned their staffs into snakes also, and then Aaron's snake ate them" [01:48 AM] Wack'd: No big reveal or anything [01:51 AM] Wack'd: So anyway this nameless extra from Exodus is exiled for his failure and finds a magic amulet that gives him superpowers and the ability to live forever [01:52 AM] Wack'd: And now he wants to harness Black Bolt's power to hypnotize all of Earth. Somehow. [01:53 AM] maxwellelvis: That's not how his power works. His voice isn't hypnotic, it blows stuff to smitheroons. [01:53 AM] Wack'd: He basically wants to use Black Bolt as a battery to power his hypnosis [01:53 AM] maxwellelvis: Ahh [01:55 AM] Wack'd: Anyway they scuffle for a while before Sphinx gets nervous he might actually get his ass kicked and throws them all out the airlock [01:55 AM] Wack'd: Lockjaw has meanwhile freed the Inhumans. He could've done this at any time probably but okay [01:57 AM] Wack'd: Look dude, sure you manage to miraculously crawl your way to the 21st century, but you still don't even have 100 appearances. Godly power only means something if you have popularity power to back it up
Tumblr media
[01:58 AM] Wack'd: ...is this a thing Black Bolt can do? I feel like the answer is "no"
Tumblr media
[01:59 AM] Wack'd: Anyway the day is saved by...Black Bolt [01:59 AM] Wack'd: Not much of an Fantastic Four annual [02:00 AM] Wack'd: Sphinx is blasted into space and then everyone goes home [02:00 AM] Wack'd: The end [02:00 AM] maxwellelvis: SPHINX!

300+ TOP DB2 Interview Questions and Answers
DB2 Interview Questions for freshers experienced :-
1. What is DB2. DB2 is a Database Management System for the MVS Operating System where, DB2 is a subsystem of MVS Operating System. 2. What is the purpose of using COMMIT? The data changes can be made permanent by using COMMIT. It also permits data to be accessed by other applications who can reference the committed data 3. List out the Data types available. The Data types available here are: SMALLINT INTEGER FLOAT DECIMAL CHAR VARCHAR DATE TIME 4.What are the uses of DB2 Optimizer? It processes SQL statements. It helps to select the access path 5. Define SQLCA. SQL Communication Area is a structure of variables, which are updated after every execution of SQL statements. For an application that contains executable SQL statements, only one SQLCA is needed. FORTRAN need more than one SQLCA to be provided .For Java, SQLCA is not applicable. 6. Define CHECK constraint. It is specified as a condition or criteria to ensure data integrity. A value to be inserted or updated to a table is tested by CHECK constraint. The CHECK constraints are created during the creation of the table. 7. What is SQLCA’s maximum length? 136 is the maximum length of the SQLCA. 8. Discuss about DB2 bind? The process that builds access paths to the DB2 table is known as bind. The bind uses Database Request Modules from the DB2 pre-compile step as input and produces an application plan. It checks for user authentication and validates SQL statements in the DBRM(s). 9. List out the three types of page locks that can be held. Exclusive Update Share. 10. Define buffer pool. The buffer pool is a reserved main storage, which is to satisfy the buffering requirements for one or more table spaces or indexes. It can be made up of either 4K or 32K pages.

DB2 Interview Questions 11. Explain the function of Data Manager. The physical database is managed by the DB2 component called Data manager. It invokes other system components to perform logging, locking etc. 12. What is a storage group (STOGROUP)? STOGROUP is a named collection of DASD volumes, which is to be used by index spaces and table spaces of the database. 13. What is predicate? Predicate is an element of a search condition. It expresses or implies a search condition. 14. Define Declaration Generator (DCLGEN). Declaration Generator is a facility that is used to form SQL statements that describes a table or view. At pre-compile time, the table or view descriptions are then used to check the validity of SQL statements. 15. List out the buffer pools in DB2 There are four buffer pools in DB2 and they are: BP0 BP1 BP2 BP32 16. Define clustering index. Clustering index is a type of index, which locates the table rows and determines how to group the rows together in the tablespace. 17. What is concurrency? More than one DB2 application process can access the same data at the same time, is known as concurrency. However, problems can happen such as, lost updates access to unrepeatable reads and uncommitted data. 18. Explain the Function done by data manager? Data manager can be considered as a component that is capable of managing the databases that are physically present and is capable of invoking other components associated with the system for performing functionalities like logging, locking and in performing other I/O operations. 19. Explain about DBRM. DBRM stands for Database Request Module and is a component inside DB2, which is created by the pre compiler of DB2. This is a module that consists of SQL source statements that get extracted out of the application program. DBRMs form inputs that are helpful in the binding process. 20. Define Data page. Data page can be considered as a unit that is capable of retrieving data from the database. The database from which the data can be retrieved is in the form of 4 kilobytes or 32 kilobytes. The form in which data is retrieved depends on the way the table is defined inside the database. Data page also contains information regarding the catalog or user that are part of the database. 21. Explain about RCT. RCT is expanded as Resource – Control Table and is defined in the DB2/CICS region. This is the component that comprises of features that are gathered through macros of DSNCRCT. RCT matches with the transaction ID that of CICS, with the authorization ID that of DB2. This should also be matched with plan ID. 22. How can tablespace be moved to another DASD volume that is allocated for that tablespace? Tablespace that you are using is allocated only to STOGROUP, then you can enter the command ALTER STOGROUP for adding as well as deleting volume. REORG TABLESPACE and RECOVER TABLESPACE are statements that are helpful in creating new STOGROUP that can point towards the new volume. ALTER tablespace and REORG and RECOVER are statements used for altering and recovering the tablespace allocated in the memory. 23. What is the information associated with SYSIBM.SYSLINKS table? This is the table that contains information on the links that exists between the tables created through referential constraints. 24. Explain in detail about buffer manager and its functionalities? Buffer manager can be considered as the component inside DB2 that helps in transferring data between virtual as well as external medium. The buffer manager reduces the quantity of physical input as well as output operations that are actually performed by making use of buffering techniques that are highly sophisticated. 25. Explain about cursor stability? Cursor stability is the property that tells the DB2 that the values of database that are read by making use of this application gets protected while the data is used. 26. Mention a credible reason why SELECT* is never given preference in an SQL program that has been embedded. There are primarily three reasons why SELECT* is never given preference in an embedded SQL program. These are: - In case if there is an alteration in the structure of the table, then the program has to undergo a modification process. All columns will be retrieved by the program including those columns , which might not be used. In case if the user wishes to scan the index, then that will not be possible. 27. Explain correlated sub-queries. Correlated sub-queries are those queries wherein the nester query on the inner side refers directly back to outer query’s table. For each and every row that is qualified, the evaluation of correlated sub-query is a must. 28. Comment whether the cursor is closed during COMMIT or not. Yes. The cursor is closed during COMMIT. 29. In an SQL table that is embedded, what is the procedure to retrieve rows that are part of a DB2 table? Either you can use SELECT statements of single rows or an alternative way is to use CURSOR. 30. Mention the way of highlighting as well as putting a CURSOR to use in a COBOL program. The best way of putting a CURSOR to use in a COBOL program is to make use of DECLARE CURSOR, which can be used either in procedure division operation or in working storage. This is being done basically to highlight the SELECT statement. Once DECLARE CURSOR is used, this is followed by OPEN, FETCH and finally CLOSE. 31. If the CURSOR is kept open followed the issuing of COMMIT, what is the procedure to leave the CURSOR that way? Inside DECLARE CURSOR, there is a WITH HOLD option, which will come useful in this case. Although, one should note the point that WITH HOLD function has absolutely no effect if considered for CICS pseudo-conventional programs. 32. Explain PACKAGES. PACKAGES are units, which consist of executable codes that are meant for SQL statements for one respective DBRM. 33. Highlight all the advantages that are attached to a PACKAGE. Following are the advantages attached to a PACKAGE. Avoid the cost of a large collection of bind. It is much more advisable to go for a small collection instead of a large one. Ensure that you do not have to bring a large collection of members of DBRM together for a particular plan. In case if you wish to make changes in the program and these changes eventually lead to errors, then you can decrease the fallback complexities with the help of PACKAGE. During the process of automatic binding and rebinding of a particular plan, make sure that the total transaction attached to the process is unavailable during the course. 34. Mention the definition of COBOL in VARCHAR field. The REMARKS of VARCHAR column are as follows: - 10 REMARKS 49 REMARKS – LEN PIC S9 (4) USAGE COMP. 49 REMARKS – TEXT PIC X (1920). 35. Mention the length of physical storage of the given data types of DB2 - DATE, TIMESTAMP, TIME DATE: PIC X (10) TIMESTAMP: PIC X (26) TIME: PIC X (08) 36. For a DB2 column that is being defined as DECIMAL (11, 2), discuss the COBOL picture clause. PIC S9 (9) V99 COMP – 3 In the expression DECIMAL (11, 2) 2 happens to be the precision whereas 11 is the data type size. 37. Explain DCLGEN. DCLGEN basically refers to DeCLarations GENerator whose primary purpose is to generate copy books of the host language for the tables. It is also used to create the DECLARE table. 38. Mention some fields that are a part of SQLCA. SQLERRM, SQLCODE, SQLERRD. 39. Explain the contents that are a part of DCLGEN. There are primarily two components of DCLGEN. These are: - A copy book of the host language, which will give alternative definitions for all the column names. In terms of the data-types of DB2, EXEC SQL DECLARE TABLE shows an aesthetic layout of the table. 40. Comment whether DCLGEN is mandatorily used. If not, then what is the point of using it? It is not exactly mandatory to bring DCLGEN into use. The primary use of DCLGEN comes during the pre-compilation phase where it helps in detecting the misspelt column names. Since DCLGEN is just a tool, it will only generate variable definitions for the host and reduces the chances of errors. 41. In case if at some point of time DB2 is down, would that impact the pre-compilation process of a DB2-COBOL program? Even if DB2 is down at some point of time, even then it will not impact the pre-compilation process of DB2-COBOL program. The reason for the same is that the pre-compiler never refers to the catalogue tables of DB2. 42. Following a DB2 update statement, what is the quickest way to compute the total number of updated rows? All you have to do is check the value that has been stored in SQLERRD (3). 43. What is meant by EXPLAIN? EXPLAIN is basically used to show the path of access by the optimizer basically for an SQL statement. Furthermore, EXPLAIN can also be brought to use in SPUFI or even in BIND step. 44. Before you give the EXPLAIN statement, what are the prerogatives? Before giving the EXPLAIN statement, we need to make sure that PLAN_TABLE has already been created under AUTHID. 45) Mention the location where the output received from EXPLAIN statement is stored. The output from EXPLAIN is stored in userid.PLAN_TABLE 46. Outputs of EXPLAIN are with MATCHCOLS = 0. What does this signify? This signifies a non-matching scan of index provided that ACCESSTYPE = I 47. What is the various locks that are available in DB2. EXCLUSIVE, SHARE and UPDATE 48. What is RELEASE/ACQUIRE in BIND? There is a certain point in a program at which DB2 acquires or perhaps releases the locks against tables as well as table-spaces. These include intent locks. 49. What is the different locking levels that are available in DB2. TABLE, PAGE and TABLESPACE 50. What is the downsides of PAGE level lock. In case if there are large updates to be done, then the resource utilization is high accordingly. DB2 Questions and Answers pdf Download Read the full article

‘Growing Up’ Video Analysis
(( Video analysis/take aways from @thatsthat24‘ new video, “Growing Up”, co-written with @jonerstrokes! Happy very belated birthday btw. ))
-          0:25 Morality popping up all excited. “Amazing!”
-          0:27 This is immediately followed by the three others making noises of disagreements and you can tell that Anxiety isn’t alone for once on a topic. Thomas picks up on this and figures that this must mean something bad.
-          0:33 It looks like Anxiety barely hid a smile as he said nice, but it might have been my imagination. He glances around as if he’s unsure that they are actually agreeing. “I’m not alone on this one? Nice.”
-          0:45-0:58 When Anxiety is being all menacing, Logan cuts in and takes what he’s saying literally and so quickly reassures him that that’s not the problem here (in the literal sense), making Anxiety explain himself. It breaks his harsh negativity for a second. Once it clears up, he agrees.
-          0:59 Roman takes the time to show that he still does not like Anxiety, the darker side seems exasperated with the nicknames. He’s also resigned to them, but doesn’t appear to be too offended by it. “How many of those have you got?”
-          1:04 Princey looks as if though he’s disappointed in himself when he tells Thomas that they haven’t accomplished their dreams. Kind of like he blames himself… *coughs*
-          1:08 Logan participating in the animal noise association game instinctively. Patton even points to him because he knows Logic will do it. The seriousness is replaced with a brief few seconds of banter and it’s just heart-warming okay? “Baa.”
-          1:18 Logic having a list on things Thomas needs to improve on. It fills up multiple pages and he even goes far as to mention that he has included detail on it. Makes me wonder if he keeps lists on everything. How many does he have? “Oh those are just the categories, we haven’t even gotten into specifics yet.”
-          1:33-1:50 Anxiety getting to go off on his negative spiel without being interrupted by Logic or Prince until Morality stops him. (Unlike the others, he doesn’t tell Anxiety to shut up or insult him, but I digress.) Patton makes the slightest of jabs at him, but it doesn’t seem to be intentional or aimed to harm Anxiety, more so to reassure Thomas. “I know we tend to overthink a couple of things.”
-          2:10-2:18 Morality doesn’t sound as if though he’s taking Thomas seriously, but I feel like that’s also unintentional. He’s probably trying to lighten the mood the way he normally does it because it usually works. He also confuses the word adultery again. “Look who needs another lesson in adultery!” “For the last time, that is not right.” “I’m sorry, look whom needs another lesson in adultery.”
-          2:27 Prince admits to thinking about Thomas’ friends and their accomplishments and comparing that to their own. He’s worried because like the others, he wants what he thinks is best for Thomas. In his mind, that would be making sure Thomas doesn’t fall behind achievement-wise. “When comparing yourself to your friends and what they’ve accomplished, how do you stack up?”
-          2:34 Anxiety makes a joke (albeit a negative one) without thinking in response to Morality’s. This messes with my Anx and Mo friendship theory a little, but Morality isn’t shown having a negative reaction so… “Like pancakes, you fall flat.”
-          2:48-3:03 Patton steps in when Thomas is getting picked apart by the others. He’s quick to support him whilst, once again, not insulting a particular side (harshly/personally). *coughs aggressively*
-          3:06 When Logic is in… wherever Morality put him, you can see ‘LOGAN IS THE BEST TEACHER’ scrawled on the whiteboard. Seeing as this is Morality’s imagination, I assume that he wrote that there. The rest of the doodles on the board is cute also.
-          3:44 Thomas has done all of those scenarios Patton shows. I’m kind of curious about that shirt one. Especially since it looked like Thomas was just about to collapse before it moved on to the next scene. “They were all real events in my life.”
-          3:54-4:04 Anxiety seems approving of Thomas staying up until 5am as long as it has a cool name. When Logic tells him that neither the “witching” nor the “devil’s” hour is at 5am, he doesn’t see the point in staying up that late (early?). What else would he do as long as it had a cool name? “Well then it’s just 5am and you need to go to bed.”
-          4:58 Roman expresses extreme disgust at Thomas not watching his shirt. Perhaps he’s the one who hates dirt/germs the most out of the sides? That does make sense considering he’s a prince, although I would’ve thought it’d be Logic. “Did you ever wash that shirt? You’re wearing it right now.” “I did not.” “Ewww!”
-          5:07-5:17 Logan shuts down Patton when he suggests that what they do is a playful banter thing. Prince outright says that he’s the problem. Anxiety makes another negative joke/observation but also joins in. “I love this playful teasing, back-and-forth that we do!” “No, I am serious.” “You are holding Thomas back!” “His heart’s just not in the right place.”
-          5:18 Logan takes Anxiety literally again. There was a theory that it was so Anxiety is forced to explain himself and how he thinks, making it easier to understand the problems, which I like. “Again, that is not the issue. Anatomically, Thomas is fine.”
-          5:41 Thomas snaps at Patton, who is surprised. Morality apologises softly, and it sounds like his voice cracks slightly. He also looks like he’s about to cry, or at least nearing that point. “That’s just it, I’m not a ‘kiddo’ anymore!”
-          5:54 Logic and Prince start teaming up against Morality more noticeably now. Anxiety keeps quiet, looking between the two. He doesn’t seem to approve of their actions at all.
-          6:38-6:46 Anxiety doesn’t find it appropriate when Roman goes off on a Disney spiel at that time. Of course, this could have just been his hatred of Disney showing, but it seemed like he was just being mindful of Patton and kind of resented Prince slightly for being so joyful whilst picking on another. “No Mulan lyrics right now, man, come on.” / “Into the Woods is not better!”
-          7:21 Anxiety completely avoids insulting Morality at all at this point, instead he chooses to keep Logic and Prince at bay. “Okay, pocket protector.”
-          8:28-8:36 & 10:49 Logic is protective over his ‘look’. Despite having told Thomas to wear it, he doesn’t like it on him. “This… This is just my look, you stole my look.” / “Plus I wear it so much better than you. Objectively.” / (much later) “Careful with it. Careful!”
-          8:39-8:46 Logan then dabs and you can see Anxiety just go ‘wHAT’. “Is no one going to acknowledge that he just dabbed?”
-          8:47 Morality, the heart, is (forgive my wording) broken-hearted over the fact that Thomas decides to give up the things he love. I don’t mean to fuel the angst writers here, but like, what if Patton fades the longer Thomas goes without enjoyment? “But you’re giving up all the things that you love!”
-          9:14-9:33 Logan takes into consideration that Thomas isn’t happy with the changes. He goes so far as to admit that he was wrong, and proceeds to figure out that Morality’s opinion is needed to find out how to solve this. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. “Morality? What are we doing… wrong?”
-          9:49-10:05 Thomas quickly realises that he can’t give up everything that he and Morality love and says such, making Patton smile again. “I can’t sacrifice everything you bring to the table.”
-          10:58 Roman, too, apologises in his own way. “That is – wow, I am ashamed of myself.”
-          11:03 Anxiety jumps in. He says that he thought of exactly what Thomas was saying when defending Morality, but brushes it off, using his ‘I’m lazy’ excuse. He might not have wanted the others to bombard him with insults if he were to defend Morality back then? Either way, he doesn’t fool me, that softie. “I was gonna bring that up… but it would have been too much work.”
-          11:39-11:54 Roman teleports them into the first “mind palace” which is just an empty white oasis. Anxiety isn’t used to the sudden light change and is physically bothered by it. Roman fixes his mistake and then the background changes to a new setup. Each little spot corresponds to a side’s own interests/personality.
-          12:02 Anxiety makes a Winnie the Pooh reference when Morality points out that there’s something specifically for Anxiety, which is just really sweet. “Thanks for noticing me.”
-          12:14-12:23 Everyone compliments Morality apart from Anxiety who seems to really love his corner. Anx monologues for a bit, which is both funny and cute, that edgy emo whom I love. “Small, dark and empty… like the cavity where my heart would be… if I had one…”
-          12:24-12:36 No one wants to talk about their issues. Instead, Prince, Logic and Anxiety choose to sink out. Anx wishes Thomas a “happy birthday” with no malicious intent. Notably, hes the only one who does this throughout the whole video.
-          12:57-3:18 ‘Patton-cake’ is mentioned, and Morality reveals his name as Patton! Finally. Also on the subject of patton-cake, what is it? Why does it need tuna? I’m so confused someone help me.
-          13:50-4:15 Thomas shows his Shorty Award for being the best YouTube comedian! AHHHH, CONGRATULATIONS!
-          14:16-14:23 Patton somehow convinces the others to play and gather the materials, which only adds to the confusion. Why do you need two tennis rackets? Why are Roman’s hands covered in candle wax? W H Y?
-          14:24-14:31 Anxiety tells Patton that he didn’t do whatever he was asked to do, but Patton congratulates him on a job well done nonetheless. What a supportive dad. “And Anxiety, you-“ “No, I didn’t. Whatever you asked me to do, I didn’t do it.” “-are standing there sulking in the corner, yes! Look at what a good job he’s doing, everyone!”
In conclusion, I spent over three hours on this because I have no life and really like TS videos.

Official Blog Post #6
  Public Health Campaigns &  Communities
Tumblr media
The concept of “health” refers to personal and communal well-being, both physically and mentally (Dosemagen and Aese, 2017). Social communities have long relied heavily on network channels to raise awareness of public health-related issue and facilitate behaviour or change.  Using Social Media Platforms to promote Health campaigns on social media not only brings awareness, however amplifies Public Health Messages. Social media blogs have been widely adopted by individuals experiencing serious, chronic 2 and life-threatening illness as a way of documenting and sharing experiences, exploring treatment options, and connecting with others who have knowledge or experience with a particular illness (McCosker, 2008; Kotliar, 2015). Personally,  when i was a typical 14 year old who used tumblr excessively, i would take to social media to share my thoughts and opinions on basically anything. Social media offered myself with the freedom to comfortably express myself in conversations, especially with individuals that ultimately shared similar mental health issues. In addition, its easy to assume that there are thousands of other individuals that would use social media the same way to express their thoughts and opinions. For this reason, Campaigns surrounding mental health have been strongly active through social media platforms due to the large number of people who live in the world and those who use social media. The power of social networking is such that the number of worldwide users is expected to reach some 3.02 billion monthly active social media users by 2021, around a third of Earth’s entire population (Statista, 2017). Some examples of social media benefitting campaigns includes:
ALS ice Bucket Challenge
Tumblr media
ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, also known as Amyotrphic lateral sclerosis, is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.  In the summer of 2014, three men who suffered from the ALS disease  motivated the rest of the world to douse buckets of cold water, filming and posting online in an attempt to promote awareness of the disease. If those who were nominated did not undertake the challenge within 24 hours they were to donate money towards the ALS/MND organisation. The Ice Bucket Challenge may be one of the most powerful examples of the influence of social media over our behaviour, as the number of participants soared, donations to the ALS Association skyrocketed. Videos uploaded to Facebook in 2014 saw more than 17 million people participating in the craze, with videos being watched by an audience of around 440 million, 10 billion times (ALSA, 2014).  According to ALSA organisation website, from July 25th, 2014 to September 15th, 2014, the ALSA received over $114 million in donations, compared with approximately $5 million from the same time period in 2013 (ALSA, 2014).  ALSA social media activity also saw a significant boost in followers with 2014 stats representing a total 9,000 followers on twitter and Facebook 350 likes, when compared to 2018 ALS association has 920,000 likes on Facebook and 30.5k followers on twitter. This ice bucket challenge greatly altered the traditional methods of fundraising and gaining awareness and has shown how significant  social media tools like Facebook and Twitter are when reaching millions of people, while also putting a new element of fun and excitement into donating towards a cause.
Tumblr media
Another relevant example of social media and health campaigns is the Movember campaign.
Tumblr media
Movember is a charity event concerned with men’s health. The event takes place during November and predominantly involves male participants (mobros) being sponsored to grow a moustache and document the activity (Burgess, cassidy & Light, 2013).  Movember is a great case in point about how social media can be used to highlight a cause, have some fun and get those donations pouring in. Social media is practically the core of Movember, with Movember  having presences on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and Twitter (Burgess, cassidy & Light, 2013).  In 2011, it was recorded that more than 850,000 “Mo Bros and “Mo sistas” participated in Movember, raising $126 Million. It is established that Facebook contributed to such a large number due to the sginificant encouragement of participants and supporters of Movember, promoting the campaign through uploaded photos. In an article conducted by Justin lafferty, Lafferty interviewed Movember CEO Adam Garone. Garone shared how Facebook helped the campaign grow stating that Movember’s online and offline platforms combined raised$126 million in 2011, changing the face of mens health. And this was fulfilled due to participants using Facebook pages to start conversations about the issue of men’s health, post photos and videos to drive awareness and promote the movember.com website, enabling public communities with an accessible link to donate towards the cause.
Tumblr media
As great as social media is in promoting campaigns and gaining awareness and donations, it has also been linked to creating more mental health issues for individuals. Social media can be a toxic place when individuals are exposed to bullying, harassment, societies standards of beauty online and living expectations. A survey conducted by the London-based Royal Society for Public Health found that young adolescents were affected by social media with social media sites such as Instagram that primarily focus on people’s physical appearance were “contributing to a generation of young people with body image and body confidence issues” (Theweek, 2018). One recent psychological survey has investigated ‘the FOMO factor’, or the fear of missing out, as a contributor to anxiety and depression among young users of social media (Australian Psychological Society, 2015) while other studies suggesting that approximately 45% of Australian teenagers feel that their peers are having more rewarding experiences than them. McCosker states that social media changes the way health experiences and mental wellbeing are made publicly visible. With more and more encounters of individuals publicly sharing and promoting mental health, It is easy for anyone to share photos and #depression or #suicide, drawing negative attention on serious matters and triggering those who seriously suffer from such health issues.
So while social media is excellent for helping public health issues gain awareness and reach millions, we must also acknowledge that social media definitely wont put an end in fighting all major health problems, and that social media can in fact be a contributing factor that creates and causes such problems for individuals that we are growing awareness of.... confusing right?.

Monday 30th March
MONDAY 30TH MARCH:
WHAT’S THE PLAN FOR THIS WEEK?
EI: The site’s getting there. We have two pages, one for Text, and one for a homepage. There’s a few minor issues with formatting/sizing etc, but on the whole it’s looking okay. Let’s get a domain name and try putting it online… Let’s get that done by 12pm… 11:16
EI: I bought the domain name thevds.xyz and have managed to get the homepage up! Next step is to make the links work, and fix the ‘virtual design studio’ page, which is essentially the about page! 13:55
WEDNESDAY 1ST APRIL: DISCUSSING THE TO DO LIST.
EI: how do we make a data dictionary for the virtual design studio? 13:59
TF: It turns out this is something that I've been thinking about on and off over the last few years. Just a few weeks ago, I wrote about having a data dictionary for the UDK, and of course this could lead to a community designed data dictionary. I figured it was worth another shot and looked for some data that would be appropriate for the virtual design studio. The first thing I looked at was the Illumination wiki, which provides an enormous amount of data about your design studio from all of your major tools, as well as some secondary (Gif, audio, etc.) data. The key lines are where to find all of this stuff – Sb (not sure what that stands for.. 14:00
EI: A Community designed data dictionary, huh? That could be good… I’ll have a look at the illumination Wiki. 14:03
EI: I’m not sure which Illumination wiki in particular you’re referring to- one seems to be a media company. I wonder what data can be derived from our major tools… GIF, Audio are definitely good starting points. But there do we start for the VDS? 14:05
TF: Well as we've mentioned already this idea is to create graphics from scratch. Basically with Photoshop. Or any other design program. That could be Photoshop. Illustrator. Krita. Inkscape. We should start with our graphical objects and tools like sketch, photo. Create our own ideas as we went along and turn these into usable images that our business or team can use. You don't have to be an artist to do this. (I can only do vector graphics so that's what I'm doing currently but it's pretty simple if you want to try something new.) 14:06
EI: How can you make vector graphics? You’re just a transformer. 14:07
TF: Of course, being a transformer, you can change into a graphic design. Though, remember, there are other ways to spend your time. Just look at the tools that are available today, say, the ones that you will receive when you register for the first CSS Boot Camp. 14:08
EI: I've already made some graphics for the Virtual Design Studio identity on illustrator and exported them as SVG for the website. I'm wondering how to create more narratives or contexts for new graphics/images and drawings, and what that might look like. What do you think? 14:10
TF: Any suggestions for ideas for a logo for Level 9? 14:11
EI: what’s level 9 of the virtual design studio, and why does it need a logo? 14:11
TF: Not all designers, yes; but some. We want to increase the competence level of our teams. Level 9 is there for the team's daily needs.
Also the big "The Vision" found at the top. We just wanted to say, what's the vision? How can we make the website better? How can we improve things? What have you learnt?
Design your own logo. If you have questions, contact the design team, as we can answer them. This is one way of supporting the team. Your favourite logo design tool? Rebrand your company! And why not? It's not like we don't support our own 14:13
EI: Ok, so let's get back to the team members of the virtual design studio. There's Emma the Human, Botnik, Transformer. What other skills and people might we need? 14:14
TF:  No one would even know if anyone could be an asset to our company. So let's continue the various stuff I did to get bots to work:
Demo the different options for setting the shots. I got a robot that was so hard to handle that I couldn't see why the team was spending so much time working on it.
Here's some sample example footage of Botnik in action:
What's the problem I asked myself in these experiments? How do I get a robot to move at the right speed and consistently? 14:15
EI: But if we think about it, we need *other* skills; we need to outsource things we aren’t already doing. Like drawing for example. Let’s find an intelligence who is an expert at drawing, and ask them to help us generate some stuff. Only question is, what are we generating and why? 14:17
TF: Anybody who knows how to draw will have no problem passing our test, because at least half of the time it will be something of worth. Think about that. * We're looking for a person who can produce art. * Somebody who can produce art can work for us, and not be completely unproductive, it turns out. 14:18
EI: I think I know someone… 14:18
EI: She’s called Quick, Draw!, and I think she can help us with some images, or doodles of certain things. What should we ask her for first in relation to the virtual design studio?  14:20
TF: First, you should be clear what you are wanting from the virtual studio. Do you want a full user interface design session, full stop? If so, that would be really cool, but not what this project is about. You may want a non-digital process such as art direction or actual design work and not just a design document for you to download. You may want to work with Quick, Draw! in-person. Do not have in mind a "completely digital process." 14:21
EI: I think it would be good to make an illustration of what we are. I’ll ask. 14:22
EI: Ok, so I’ve been and asked, and the images aren’t actual image files. I think they’re drawn in Json, or Javasript somehow, but they’re numbered, and they’ve been logged with places and dates, and how fast Quick, Draw! Identified them and what they’re drawings of. So I called up all the computer drawings, and there’s 117,460 of them. 14:32
EI: This is making me wonder what virtual narratives might look like, and how we can potentially begin to pull these drawings, perhaps randomise them with tags, and then generate illustrated, virtual, narratives. 14:33
EI: That said, this has a very limited vocabulary, and I think we need to find alternative intelligences that are capable of recognising imagery of a greater number of categories. 14:36
EI: I’m currently searching for AI that can draw, or any kind of AI that can make images. There’s quite a few that are capable of identifying images, but not a lot that are capable of producing an image when prompted. 14:41
EI: OH MY GOD. I’ve just found an AI that makes COLLAGES. I’ve typed a brief description into it, and the image re-renders every time you add a new letter. It’s SUPER weird.
“virtual design studio sat at their desks doing work for the virtual design studio. they make images about the internet and human interaction with computers and the problems that occur when the real and the virtual are separated” is what I typed in. Here’s what it made
EI: It’s so bad at doing what it’s supposed to do that it’s actually good. It starts to create things that allude to what we’re talking about here at VDS, but it also it completely does not make any sense. It’s like those pictures that are really ambiguous and you’re asked by a psychologist “what do you see here?” to try and diagnose what’s wrong with you etc. When in actual fact, these are completely perfect to the “clutching at straws nothingness” that the territory of the project resides in. 14:51
EI: OK, this is actually phenomenal and is everything I didn’t know I needed from an image generator. I’m actually feeling a little overwhelmed because I’m not sure I can do justice to everything this is producing; like how do I even handle and manage this? I’ve just gone through and saved all of the images. https://experiments.runwayml.com/generative_engine/ has created. I don’t even know what it’s called. It’s an experiment and a generative engine. Like, how do I begin to decide what to do with this next? Because what I just did was quite time consuming, but the result are VERY worth it. I think this is where the notions of CARE that Laura Potter was talking about on monday come into play. This is  a powerful tool, and I have to be very careful with how I use it; what I ask it to do etc. 15:11
EI: I only found it because some news platform had written an article about it, saying how BAD it was. But, in fact, what it does is “hubristically tries to assert meaning meaninglessly where there is none”. I think it’s the same with the other intelligences I’ve employed to work for the studio. But, Congratulations Gengine (Generative Engine), you’re in the crew. 15:13.
EI: Right, so I’ve spent the past few hours plugging in words to the Image Generation Engine, and in return I’ve gotten some amazing stuff. The final task was plugging in the ‘living internet’ text, and then recording the playback and saving the images. Yes. All 480 of them. Individually. But that’s ok. I’ll need to make a gif of it, and I’d like to make some drawings from some of them. So that’s perhaps a task to start after dinner or tomorrow. The other thing it’s made me think is that I need to plug the text statements that Botnik made the other day into them. In particular the one that starts with ‘hands’ or ‘death’. I’d also like to put each of the categories of ‘living internet’ into it, as I feel like each category will end up having its own unique image aesthetic. Perhaps then I can make more drawings, or this will prompt more text pieces. Overall I just need to manifest the ‘nothingness’ that the project is about, and the truth is there’s very little to hold onto. So I guess it’s using the internet to analyse itself, but also using the internet to provide commentary on itself, and the theory that goes with it. Clearly the context report was GOOD- we just have to continue in the same way we did then- take the feeling and run with it.
I’d also like to teach botnik to set tasks for the studio. I’m not sure how I’d do this. Perhaps it’s by writing down the tasks we’ve already done (a bit like this) and then using his predictions to write and designate new tasks. I don’t know if plugging this script into him will do that. It might struggle to generate NEW content, but maybe that’s ok. Perhaps reworking the old is enough for now, and then the studio feedback loop will allow progress to occur, as transformer can be asked to comment on Botnik’s tasks, and that will push us into new territories.
Since I’ve mentioned feedback loops, it might be a good idea to start to document what these look like for the individual pieces that seem to be emerging. 17:40
This might be something along the lines of diagrams for the audio clip we recorded the other day, and then maybe making the GIF and drawing a system diagram/feedback loop/production line for it. This way we can spot patterns and begin to explore/exploit them. 17:41
I also need some help pinning down exactly what we’re tapping into here, and articulating that. I’m not sure if I should ask matt to describe what he sees on friday, or if something else would be more beneficial/helpful. That’s something to think about. Perhaps there’s an online bot that can write copy text or that can make a summary document? I don’t know. But it’s something I’m aware is lacking. But, maybe it’s not something that CAN be articulated in words. Maybe the articulation needs to be communicated through practice, presentation and execution, as those are equally credible modes, just not often regarded as highly as language. AND, maybe the best method of articulation is via setting up and running the studio (that’s the tool) and then employing sub-tools and devices that each serve an independent purpose and deliver independent deliverables/outcomes/articulations of the overall theme/struggle and nothingness. 17:45

Since President Trump took office, he has relentlessly attacked the media. He’s shunned individual reporters, referred to the press as “the enemy of the American people,” and popularized the term “fake news” to denigrate credible articles. Meanwhile, public trust in the press is at an all-time low. According to a recent Knight-Gallup report, only a third of Americans view the press positively.
There is increasing evidence that this skepticism, exacerbated by the president’s relentless attacks, is trickling down to the next generation of voters. A 2017 report on a series of focus groups with 52 people between the ages of 14 and 24, conducted by Data & Society and the Knight Foundation, found that many young Americans believe the news is biased and are skeptical of its accuracy. “There was no assumption that the news would convey the truth or would be worthy of their trust,” the study reported.
Teenagers, in particular, appear to be increasingly questioning the credibility and value of traditional media organizations. In interviews with The Atlantic, teens expressed great skepticism about the accuracy of the mainstream media, reiterated Trump’s biased characterization of many news sources, and said the president’s outrageous tweets have become so much a part of everyday life that they’ve morphed into catchphrases.
The Fake News hates me saying that they are the Enemy of the People only because they know it’s TRUE. I am providing a great service by explaining this to the American People. They purposely cause great division & distrust. They can also cause War! They are very dangerous & sick!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 5, 2018
“I don’t believe there [are] any neutral news organizations,” said Emma Neely, a 19-year-old in Tennessee. “Each writer and editor has their own personal bias. What they write, even if it’s a little biased, it’s still biased.”
Angie, a 16-year-old in New York, agreed. She contends that Trump’s comments have revealed to people that the news media cannot be trusted. “I think this whole phenomenon has given teens awareness that bias exists and things are not what they seem,” she said.
Sally, a 17-year-old in Puerto Rico, said she’s learned not to trust the media and was disappointed with the biases she found in how some outlets handled coverage of Hurricane Maria’s destruction. “They say what they want to say,” she said. “I don’t feel they say the truth as it is.”
Social media has given young people unprecedented access to real-time news. Many teens I spoke with follow the president, other politicians, journalists, and news outlets on Twitter. The ones who don’t follow Trump directly all said they were aware of almost everything he tweets thanks to screenshots posted to Snapchat or Instagram, where his comments are warped into punch lines and memes.
“I see a huge change from six years ago,” said Kathleen Carver, an AP government teacher at Wylie East High School in Texas. “When I started working, students weren’t really interested or even knowledgeable about basic current issues. Today, though, students are talking about current events ... Kids talk about current events and issues like it’s high-school gossip. It’s become a lot more relevant to them.”
That doesn’t mean they take the president seriously. Even teenagers who said they identified as conservative-leaning said they joke about the outrageousness of Trump’s comments. Carver said that she has been amazed at how quickly Trump’s tweets are adapted into punch lines in her classroom. “When I say a crazy fact or something that shocks the students, I always have a student yell out ‘fake news,’ which causes a lot of laughter,” she said.
“The younger internet, we all understand it’s irresponsible of [Trump to tweet], but at the same time we laugh at it and make it into a meme,” said Colin, a 16-year-old in Pennsylvania. “Like how often does a person tweet ‘Thank you Kanye, very cool’? ... People see something crazy now and say ‘thank you Kanye very cool,’ or they edit random stuff over [Trump’s] tweets.”
“I can’t take him seriously if he’s tweeting more than I do,” said Samara, a 16-year-old in Texas. “A lot of people have him blocked, it’s like whatever.”
Trolling the president on his own social channels by replying to his tweets or commenting on his Instagram is entertaining, said several teens, but the amount of backlash you get from conservative-leaning accounts when doing so gets old. Bennet, a 15-year-old in Massachusetts who asked to be referred to by gender-neutral pronouns, said they often go on Instagram or Twitter to “comment something snarky. I get the usual, ‘oh you’re some dumb liberal blah blah. You’re stupid antifa.’”
Student journalism in the age of media distrust
CJ Pearson, a 16-year-old conservative commentator, said the reason why Trump’s messages permeate so deeply into teen culture is because “President Trump understands the meme culture better than so many people. Every tweet he makes doesn’t just live on Twitter. It goes across every platform and stirs discussion among people who aren’t even political.”
Pearson, an avid Trump supporter, said he has lots of friends with political beliefs different from his own, but even they are hyperaware of everything the president does and says, and enjoy debating it. “Trump has been able to connect with teens in a way no president has before,” he said. “When Obama wanted to connect with young people, he sat down with [the 46-year-old YouTube star] Glozell, someone his own age. If Trump wants to reach young people, he’ll just tweet.”
Even Pearson doesn’t take what the president says on Twitter seriously. “I will literally reply to a tweet, quote tweet it like, ‘LMAO,’ because that’s what I’m doing when I read the tweet. I’m laughing so hard,” he said.
As much as they laugh, though, Trump’s negative views on the media have undoubtedly affected teens’ views of certain outlets. The teens I spoke with often had strong opinions about CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Fox News. Colin said he tries to avoid CNN and most mainstream news sites, instead following independent journalists he likes on YouTube. “In 2016, I became a little more skeptical of the mainstream media, just because I know how corporate donors and commercials work,” he said. “Why wouldn’t CNN endorse Clinton or talk about her in a better way than Trump when Time Warner was donating so much money to her campaign?” (CNN did not officially endorse any candidate in the last election, but Trump supporters have frequently attacked the network for what they have seen as a pro-Clinton bias.)
Laura Medici Fleming, a history teacher at Ridgewood High School in New Jersey for 35 years, said she’s seen a huge shift in the way her students perceive mainstream news organizations. “When I first started teaching, the word of The New York Times was practically gospel, but that has changed in the past few years,” she said. “The current climate has had an impact. Some of the students make disparaging comments about CNN and ‘fake news.’ And some roll their eyes at Fox.”
Carver said she’s had to alter which news sources she uses to teach her students, since if she presents an article from the wrong “side,” students will write the information off. “If I present CNN or Fox, that may automatically cause some limitations,” she said.
Travis Grandt, a history teacher in Colorado, said that he was once admonished by kids in his classroom for pulling up an article from CNN on the classroom’s smart board before class started. Grandt said a student told him it was obvious CNN was picking on Trump, based on the headlines. “I asked him if it seemed ridiculous that there are lots of stories about the most powerful person in the world on an international news site,” Grandt said. “He said no, but all of the stories on CNN were super negative.”
For “non-biased news,” the teens I spoke to said they turn directly to journalists themselves or news-related pages on social media vetted by people they trust. “I follow a few political Instagram accounts,” Colin said. “They’ll post memes and headlines and stuff and people discuss them. Political Instagram is a thing. It’s sort of like a weird mesh between a meme page and a news page.”
Pearson said that he thinks it’s much more valuable to follow individual journalists online than faceless media networks. “I put the same weight on tweets from reporters as a story they actually have a byline on,” he said. “If you have a checkmark there’s a lot of credibility that comes with that.”
Neely said she also mostly gets her news on Twitter and follows several journalists, though she doesn’t trust most of what she sees. “On Twitter, there’s always all kinds of different news stories coming up. You never know if they’re real or not, of course,” she said. “Sometimes if I see a news story on Twitter, I’ll go on Instagram and look up the person they’re talking about to get more information on who the person is.”
One thing teens did feel positively about was their ability to impact the broader media and political landscape. They all felt empowered by social media to make their voices heard, despite the fact that most still can’t vote. “Teenagers and young people in general have taken the world by storm,” said Isabel, a 13-year-old in New York. “We are human beings with real minds. Whether you want to listen to us is your choice but we are going to talk and be heard out in the long run.”

Graeber, David - Debt: The First 5,000 Years
page 7 | location 103-105 | Added on Tuesday, 14 April 2015 16:50:23
Consumer debt is the lifeblood of our economy. All modern nation-states are built on deficit spending. Debt has come to be the central issue of international politics. But nobody seems to know exactly what it is, or how to think about it.
 page 19 | location 285-286 | Added on Wednesday, 15 April 2015 15:33:26
the crucial factor, and a topic that will be explored at length in these pages, is money’s capacity to turn morality into a matter of impersonal arithmetic—and by doing so, to justify things that would otherwise seem outrageous or obscene.
 page 20 | location 294-296 | Added on Wednesday, 15 April 2015 15:34:47
The way violence, or the threat of violence, turns human relations into mathematics will crop up again and again over the course of this book. It is the ultimate source of the moral confusion that seems to float around everything surrounding the topic of debt. The resulting dilemmas appear to be as old as civilization itself.
 page 36 | location 549-554 | Added on Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:52:40
Stanley Jevons, for example, who in 1871 wrote what has come to be considered the classic book on the origins of money, took his examples straight from Smith, with Indians swapping venison for elk and beaver hides, and made no use of actual descriptions of Indian life that made it clear that Smith had simply made this up. Around that same time, missionaries, adventurers, and colonial administrators were fanning out across the world, many bringing copies of Smith’s book with them, expecting to find the land of barter. None ever did. They discovered an almost endless variety of economic systems. But to this day, no one has been able to locate a part of the world where the ordinary mode of economic transaction between neighbors takes the form of “I’ll give you twenty chickens for that cow.”
 page 37 | location 554-557 | Added on Wednesday, 15 April 2015 16:53:06
The definitive anthropological work on barter, by Caroline Humphrey, of Cambridge, could not be more definitive in its conclusions: “No example of a barter economy, pure and simple, has ever been described, let alone the emergence from it of money; all available ethnography suggests that there never has been such a thing.”

But to this day, no one has been able to locate a part of the world where the ordinary mode of economic transaction between neighbors takes the form of “I’ll give you twenty chickens for that cow.” The definitive anthropological work on barter, by Caroline Humphrey, of Cambridge, could not be more definitive in its conclusions: “No example of a barter economy, pure and simple, has ever been described, let alone the emergence from it of money; all available ethnography suggests that there never has been such a thing.”16 Now, all this hardly means that barter does not exist—or even that it’s never practiced by the sort of people that Smith would refer to as “savages.” It just means that it’s almost never employed, as Smith imagined, between fellow villagers. Ordinarily, it takes place between strangers, even enemies.
 page 51 | location 779-783 | Added on Wednesday, 15 April 2015 17:17:12
In fact, our standard account of monetary history is precisely backwards. We did not begin with barter, discover money, and then eventually develop credit systems. It happened precisely the other way around. What we now call virtual money came first. Coins came much later, and their use spread only unevenly, never completely replacing credit systems. Barter, in turn, appears to be largely a kind of accidental byproduct of the use of coinage or paper money: historically, it has mainly been what people who are used to cash transactions do when for one reason or another they have no access to currency.
 page 64 | location 975-983 | Added on Saturday, 18 April 2015 17:25:35
Anthropologists have been complaining about the Myth of Barter for almost a century. Occasionally, economists point out with slight exasperation that there’s a fairly simple reason why they’re still telling the same story despite all the evidence against it: anthropologists have never come up with a better one.20 This is an understandable objection, but there’s a simple answer to it. The reasons why anthropologists haven’t been able to come up with a simple, compelling story for the origins of money is because there’s no reason to believe there could be one. Money was no more ever “invented” than music or mathematics or jewelry. What we call “money” isn’t a “thing” at all, it’s a way of comparing things mathematically, as proportions: of saying one of X is equivalent to six of Y. As such it is probably as old as human thought. The moment we try to get any more specific, we discover that there are any number of different habits and practices that have converged in the stuff we now call “money,” and this is precisely the reason why economists, historians, and the rest have found it so difficult to come up with a single definition.
 page 73 | location 1119-1121 | Added on Sunday, 19 April 2015 17:05:54
In all Indo-European languages, words for “debt” are synonymous with those for “sin” or “guilt”, illustrating the links between religion, payment and the mediation of the sacred and profane realms by “money.” For example, there is a connection between money (German Geld), indemnity or sacrifice (Old English Geild), tax (Gothic Gild) and, of course, guilt.
 page 75 | location 1146-1149 | Added on Sunday, 19 April 2015 17:09:58
The reason that this literature tends to be ignored by economists is simple: “primitive currencies” of this sort is only rarely used to buy and sell things, and even when they are, never primarily to buy and sell everyday items such as chickens or eggs or shoes or potatoes. Rather than being employed to acquire things, they are mainly used to rearrange relations between people. Above all, to arrange marriages and to settle disputes, particularly those arising from murders or personal injury.

After all, we do owe everything we are to others. This is simply true. The language we speak and even think in, our habits and opinions, the kind of food we like to eat, the knowledge that makes our lights switch on and toilets flush, even the style in which we carry out our gestures of defiance and rebellion against social conventions—all of this, we learned from other people, most of them long dead. If we were to imagine what we owe them as a debt, it could only be infinite. The question is: Does it really make sense to think of this as a debt?

Squaring accounts means that the two parties have the ability to walk away from each other. By presenting it, his father suggested he’d just as soon have nothing further to do with him. In other words, while most of us can imagine what we owe to our parents as a kind of debt, few of us can imagine being able to actually pay it—or even that such a debt ever should be paid. Yet if it can’t be paid, in what sense is it a “debt” at all? And if it is not a debt, what is it?

I will call this “baseline communism”: the understanding that, unless people consider themselves enemies, if the need is considered great enough, or the cost considered reasonable enough, the principle of “from each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs” will be assumed to apply.

As with society at large, the shared conviviality could be seen as a kind of communistic base on top of which everything else is constructed. It also helps to emphasize that sharing is not simply about morality, but also about pleasure. Solitary pleasures will always exist, but for most human beings, the most pleasurable activities almost always involve sharing something: music, food, liquor, drugs, gossip, drama, beds. There is a certain communism of the senses at the root of most things we consider fun.

I should underline again that we are not talking about different types of society here (as we’ve seen, the very idea that we’ve ever been organized into discrete “societies” is dubious) but moral principles that always coexist everywhere. We are all communists with our closest friends, and feudal lords when dealing with small children. It is very hard to imagine a society where

Economists are aware that reality is always more complicated; but they are also aware that to come up with a mathematical model, one always has to make the world into a bit of a cartoon. There’s nothing wrong with this. The problem comes when it enables some (often these same economists) to declare that anyone who ignores the dictates of the market shall surely be punished—or that since we live in a market system, everything (except government interference) is based on principles of justice: that our economic system is one vast network of reciprocal relations in which, in the end, the accounts balance and all debts are paid.

Debt is a very specific thing, and it arises from very specific situations. It first requires a relationship between two people who do not consider each other fundamentally different sorts of being, who are at least potential equals, who are equals in those ways that are really important, and who are not currently in a state of equality—but for whom there is some way to set matters straight.
 page 172 | location 2636-2642 | Added on Tuesday, 28 April 2015 17:09:56
All of this merely serves to underline Rospabé’s basic point, which is that money can be seen, in human economies, as first and foremost the acknowledgment of the existence of a debt that cannot be paid. In a way, it’s all very reminiscent of primordial-debt theory: money emerges from the recognition of an absolute debt to that which has given you life. The difference is that instead of imagining such debts as between an individual and society, or perhaps the cosmos, here they are imagined as a kind of network of dyadic relations: almost everyone in such societies was in a relation of absolute debt to someone else. It’s not that we owe “society.” If there is any notion of “society” here—and it’s not clear that there is—society is our debts.
 page 185 | location 2822-2825 | Added on Thursday, 30 April 2015 16:56:29
We have perhaps a general principle: to make something saleable, in a human economy, one needs to first rip it from its context. That’s what slaves are: people stolen from the community that made them what they are. As strangers to their new communities, slaves no longer had mothers, fathers, kin of any sort. This is why they could be bought and sold or even killed: because the only relation they had was to their owners.
 page 208 | location 3176-3179 | Added on Friday, 1 May 2015 16:41:38
owing to its historical role, slavery has shaped our basic assumptions and institutions in ways that we are no longer aware of and whose influence we would probably never wish to acknowledge if we were. If we have become a debt society, it is because the legacy of war, conquest, and slavery has never completely gone away. It’s still there, lodged in our most intimate conceptions of honor, property, even freedom. It’s just that we can no longer see that it’s there.

Thomas Hobbes was the first to really develop this argument in the seventeenth century, but it soon became commonplace. Government was essentially a contract, a kind of business arrangement, whereby citizens had voluntarily given up some of their natural liberties to the sovereign. Finally, similar ideas have become the basis of that most basic, dominant institution of our present economic life: wage labor, which is, effectively, the renting of our freedom in the same way that slavery can be conceived as its sale.

while credit systems tend to dominate in periods of relative social peace, or across networks of trust (whether created by states or, in most periods, transnational institutions like merchant guilds or communities of faith), in periods characterized by widespread war and plunder, they tend to be replaced by precious metal.

Let us define the Axial Age, then, as running from 800 bc to 600 ad.3 This makes the Axial Age the period that saw the birth not only of all the world’s major philosophical tendencies, but also, all of today’s major world religions: Zoroastrianism, Prophetic Judaism, Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Taoism, Christianity, and Islam.

Fantastic Four Vol. 1 #94
Sat March 17 2018 [01:28:59] <Wackd> And so, first page, the baby finally has a name. [01:29:06] <Wackd> Franklin B. Richards. [01:29:56] <Wackd> It is apparently later determined that the B stands for Benjamin. [01:30:00] <Bocaj> Aww [01:30:17] <maxwellelvis> That's so cute it's disgusting [01:30:29] <Wackd> Oh, and by later I mean like a page later. [01:30:39] <Wackd> Shouldn't've bothered Googling. [01:31:07] <Wackd> Also uh. Man. Ben's not really practicing now, I guess. [01:31:24] <Wackd> Because in Jewish tradition it's bad luck to name a kid after a living person. [01:31:58] — maxwellelvis thinks about Onslaught/Heroes Reborn [01:32:14] <Wackd> Ben's thrilled about this. In fairness, it's not like his luck can get much worse. [01:32:18] <maxwellelvis> I can say that it's possible that it was a mistake on Reed's part. [01:32:20] <maxwellelvis> True. [01:32:47] <maxwellelvis> Unless he was to, say, develop a secondary mutation that would make him even more monstrous. [01:33:51] <Wackd> Uh, anyway. Reed is sending Franklin upstate for a child-rearing specialist to look after him. [01:34:07] <Wackd> I guess the plan to move somewhere nice and secluded got scrapped. [01:35:01] <Bocaj> Do middle names count? [01:35:08] <Wackd> They do. [01:35:11] <Bocaj> Ok [01:35:49] <Wackd> You know, I was kind of second-guessing myself over my hatred of Reed. Like yeah, he's condescending and sexist, but Johnny and Ben are on occasion as well and I like them fine. And he neglects Sue, but Johnny seems to forget she's his sister half the time. [01:36:34] <Wackd> But, like. Sending your infant away because you can't see any possible way for that baby not to be attacked by supervillains, despite having a game plan you ditched after one try? [01:36:45] <Wackd> Reed, what the absolute complete fuck? [01:37:25] <Wackd> Is...is Sue just okay with this? Like I get that it's impossible to argue with Reed but c'mon. [01:38:04] <Wackd> And anyway it's not even gonna WORK because the Frightful Four are spying on them. [01:38:17] <maxwellelvis> !!! [01:38:32] <maxwellelvis> I hope this is going to what I saw when I snuck a peek a few days ago... [01:38:48] <Wackd> ...why is Medusa working with these jerks again? [01:39:08] <Wackd> Didn't the Fantastic Four just help liberate her people from Maximus a few issues back? [01:39:14] <maxwellelvis> That is weird [01:39:22] <Wackd> Hell, Crystal's a member of the Four now! [01:40:18] <Bocaj> Yay [01:40:26] <Bocaj> oh [01:40:34] <Wackd> I like Agatha already.
Tumblr media
[01:40:51] <Bocaj> She's great [01:40:59] <maxwellelvis> Is she looking out of Barnabas' window? [01:41:00] <Bocaj> eh talks to her cats and probably doesn't afraid of anything [01:41:20] <Wackd> ^ ^ she murdered barnabas and stole his house [01:41:27] <maxwellelvis> Look, the metal grating, the yellow tint, the curtains... [01:42:33] <Wackd> Ben's getting nervous about flying the Fantasti-Car in a storm, and Reed's like "hey, uh, you flew in WWII, it's weird that you get jittery about this stuff now." [01:42:37] <maxwellelvis> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEHQrKj4V-M [01:42:47] <maxwellelvis> That's what should be accompanying Agatha every scene. [01:43:10] <maxwellelvis> I think I watched too much Dark Shadows, Wackd [01:43:38] <maxwellelvis> Reed, he's now about 300 pounds heavier and the Fantasticar doesn't have a canopy. [01:43:43] <Wackd> Okay so now Sue is saying that sending Franklin away is "just what we wanted" so fuck her a little bit also. [01:43:54] <Bocaj> damn sue [01:44:07] <maxwellelvis> I'm assuming neither of them saw the house when they agreed to this. [01:44:27] <Wackd> She's saying this as they park. [01:44:45] <Wackd> OH HEY MAX LOOKS LIKE YOU AND BEN ARE ON THE SAME WAVELENGTH [01:44:58] <Wackd> "Who's gonna open the door, Barnabas or Quasimodo?" [01:45:02] <maxwellelvis> So they are saying this AS they are walking from their flying car up to the creepy upstate house, in a storm [01:45:06] <maxwellelvis> Heh! [01:45:11] <Wackd> quasimodo's dead, ben, you insensitive bastard [01:45:34] <maxwellelvis> If this were five or six years later, there'd be another person Ben would probably be afraid of seeing at the door. [01:46:42] <Wackd> SUE: "In which room will the baby stay, Miss Harkness?" AGATHA: "I shall keep him with me, of course, as I have done with all my charges!" [01:46:44] <maxwellelvis> Or to put it another way, if this were in my hands, and more modern, that Quasimodo reference would be replaced by Riff Raff. [01:47:05] <Wackd> Okay, so, it's possible Agatha only takes clients rich enough that she can afford to look after one baby at a time. [01:47:12] <Bocaj> hu hu hu [01:47:27] <Wackd> But I'm imagining her sleeping in a room filled with hundreds of cribs and regretting all her life decisions. [01:48:16] <Wackd> Does this look like the face of a well-rested woman?
Tumblr media
[01:49:45] <Wackd> Ben accidentally activates a secret door, you know, where you push down and the wall spins around. [01:49:56] <Bocaj> Agatha Harkness has the best house [01:50:25] <maxwellelvis> If you see a dead Irishman in a smoking jacket, turn and run, Ben. [01:50:31] <Wackd> This allows Sandman and Wizard, who've been hiding there for who knows how long, to get him with a hover disc and shoot him unconscious. [01:51:14] <Wackd> Sandman takes out Johnny just as quickly. [01:51:37] <Wackd> And the Trapster has glued Reed and Sue's guest room door shut. [01:52:46] <Wackd> So it turns out Medusa only joined so she could kick the other Frightful Three's asses. [01:53:05] <Wackd> It takes all three of them, but within a page she's down for the count as well. [01:53:23] <Bocaj> Dammit [01:54:06] <Wackd> And then. [01:54:10] <Wackd> Agatha's turn. [01:55:53] <Wackd> Her cat Ebony turns into a giant beast and scares away the Wizard. She uses magic to turn Sandman to stone. And, just as Ben's escaped, she convinces the Trapster that he's a Kong-sized behemoth, crushing him to death, and he passes out in fear. [01:56:59] <Wackd> As Johnny and Medusa catch up, they find that the Wizard knocked himself out on a tree branch. [01:57:54] <Bocaj> So question. Aside from her personal disinterest why doesn't she become a Fantastic Four and just kick supervillain ass with ease and panache [01:58:09] <Wackd> Medusa or Agatha? [01:58:14] <Bocaj> Agatha [01:58:21] <Wackd> Someone's gotta watch the kid. [01:58:26] <Wackd> And besides, she's retired. [01:58:26] <maxwellelvis> She's like 200 years old, too. [01:59:24] <Bocaj> As I think I mentioned after hanging around with the Fantastic Four for a while she then just moves into Avengers' Mansion to become Wanda's mentor. And that's sort of the role she remains in from then on but imagine how great it would be if she just kept moving on to whoever needed her [01:59:46] <Wackd> Anyway, once everyone's escaped--somewhat miraculously, almost as if someone took pains to undo all the traps that have happened thus far in addition to scaring away the baddies-- [02:00:00] <Wackd> --they go to check on Franklin, who's fast asleep, Agatha watching over him. [02:01:16] <Wackd> And she tells them nothing. [02:01:43] <Wackd> And so everyone goes back to bed, figuring that this innocent old lady who didn't notice a supervillain attack is perfect for watching over their kid. [02:02:23] <Bocaj> Hah [02:02:25] <maxwellelvis> I don't remember if Dr. Strange ever crosses paths with Ms. Harkness. [02:02:31] <Wackd> Well. Almost everyone.
Tumblr media
[02:02:40] <Bocaj> He does in a waitingforthet comic [02:02:55] <maxwellelvis> Ah [02:03:16] <Bocaj> She loves being a troll [02:03:16] <maxwellelvis> Probably because the Fantastic Four and he walk such separate circles, there's never a reason for him to go to the Baxter Building/4 Freedom Plaza [02:04:58] <maxwellelvis> I'm sure Ben in no way had any reason to have a horrible night's sleep after that, huddling under the covers like he's five again.

Why I don’t produce videos as often?
In simple terms, videos takes 3 times as long as a blog post would take. To breakdown each and every step I take when it comes to video production are:
Plan script (Optional)
Rewatch some of the footages I have recorded
Record videos - middle part
Edit videos
Plan narrative
Voice over
Search for suitable free to use music
Record ukulele for start of the vlog and end of vlog
Write out subtitles
Trouble shoot videos
Try to input subtitles in youtube and fail
Try again
Write out blog post
Edit cover photo for video - This step is where I edit the craziest stuff to produce the most outrageous photo for the video. I guess that’s why my vlog photos or should I say my video covers often look so bombastic.
Rewatch video at least 3 more times to determine it’s perfect - In actual fact it’s 20 times. I can even memorize what’s in the video.
Figure out what tags to put
Figure out what to write in description box
Search previous posts for the links
Figure out the title - immense difficulty
Finally post.
Embedded video at the sidebar
Edit original video to become a short clip for marketing purposes.
Add subtitle and other stuff in the short clip
Market through social media and other sites - Time consuming
Participate in other discussion
Re-market if time permits
Do it all over again
All this takes over a week for I spend my mornings and afternoons doing other stuff. Yes, it is time consuming but I do hope with practice, I would find a way to reduce the time I take to edit and produce a video.
Tumblr media
The Cover for the vlog
Before we move away from the topic of the extended vlog, let me touch on the cover. The nutty cover with multiple me dancing every where and a godly me in the skies. These are all edited in microsoft powerpoint. Amazing! The idea for the cover is trying to incorporate everything in the vlog on the cover. That may be the reason why you can see so many things on my cover. Or should I say on most of my vlog covers.
Tumblr media
Confused is my middle name
Now back to the heart to heart part. For the past month, I’m sure you would have notice a lot more sponsored posts and such on my blog. First of all, I do try to keep a balance of sponsored and non-sponsored posts. However, because of the time constraint that sponsored posts have, I would have to publish them first. Thus, the influx. Do note that although these products, services and such were sponsored, I was genuine in my reviews. I guess the label ‘Note: All my opinion given here are my honest opinion on the product. The fact that it’s sponsored does not change my thoughts about it.’ is automatically applicable to all of my sponsored posts now.
I guess wrote this part as to not only resonate with you but myself on what I’m doing here. I’m blogging full time. Kind of. I mean while I’m waiting for my graduation, I’m blogging full time. Judging by how things are going, I should be doing this full time until the end of the year. Before I find a job and this go back to being a sideline again - let’s all assume people want to hire me.
Tumblr media
Comic strip taken from This is 65
I’m not saying, I don’t see the possibility of blogging full time forever. I’m sure there’s hope. There’s a glimmer of light. On the other hand, my degree also costed 27K. Let’s at least try to put it to good use first while I’m young.
Honestly, I feel that there’s so much to do and not enough time. For those of you who followed throughout the years, you would have know that I like to create side projects. I like to improve things. I like to be busy but I do not know how to judge how full is my plate. I would often pile too much until either I found that my heart is not fully in it or the stack falls over. It is only then I could see clearly what is important to me. This only happens when I’m confused and I’m at the crossroads of my life. I guess the reason as to why I blog so much is because I am running from reality. Putting finding a job off. I have issues. We all have issues. Procrastination and ignoring my issues seemed to be my move now. Not quite sure what my next move would be but it better be good.
I should get my Sh*t together
Or I can fulfill my wish of being a writer and gather some more stuff for my portfolio. Or so I said. Who knows, I may even go mad and move abroad for a month. That doesn’t seemed like a bad idea right? I don’t know. The future seem so confusing for me. Nothing is set in stone. Everything is possible. I guess it all comes down to if you were to die tomorrow, what do you want to do today? I want to write. For writing never dies.
What now?
I’m trying to finish up what I’ve started. If you remember 2 months ago, I was following a pinterest course. Well. I was attending it halfway. Then, the influx of sponsors came. So, I didn’t finish it. It’s on hold, just like every other side projects in my life. Refer to point - I should get my Sh*t together - for this part.
In attempts to get my life together, I’ve adopted the habit of incorporating daily yoga in my life. On top of that, I try to wake up at a reasonable time - between 11 to 3pm. I know it sounds ridiculous to call that reasonable time but it’s a huge step for me. As mentioned in my previous post, I sleep at 6am and get up at 2pm but it eventually became 4pm. Time just past so much faster when you wake up when the sun is down. I don’t know what logic is this but it just does. Thus, I’ve decided to lengthen time and experience daylight once again.
Tumblr media
Taken from Inspired By This Feeling Tumblr
So I’m trying. Little by little, day by day. Additionally, I found a mantra. A simple mantra that made my day a little more positive everyday:
Today is a good day
By reminding myself that today is a good day, made me anticipate the day even more. It made me eager to do more things, to be more positive towards how I see things. I am not a very positive person, neither am I negative. I’m more of a meh person. Being the meh person it’s easy to roll into negativity because of the lack of feelings for everything. I don’t want that. I am sick of that. It comes to a point that I was merely surviving and not living. By choosing to live, I have to remind myself everyday why. I have to make an effort. I have to change. With this simple mantra, I am not only reminding myself to ensure that the day ahead is going to be a good day but it gave me the push as well. Although I do cave in to the procrastination monkey at times, I am currently winning the battle against negative Nancy.
I know that there are plenty of quotes out there saying “It’s ok to just breathe today.” For those taking it too hard on themselves, I do agree it’s a quote for them. Whereas for those with the procrastination monkey in them, this quote only ruins us. We keep reminding ourselves that it’s ok to just breathe and we simply do nothing. Sometimes, it’s not ok to just breathe and do nothing. At least not for me. Therefore, I’ve changed to recite this mantra in my head instead for it represents:
At the start of the day: A positive outlook on the upcoming day
During the day: A gentle and constructive reminder that I should achieve more mini-goals to have the day deemed a good day. In simpler terms, I can’t just roll on my bed all day and wathc youtube videos and call that a good day. I have to actually do something. Be it something small like getting out of my house - I don’t go out much, so getting out is big for me - to writing a page in my journal. Yes, I’m still journalling. I’m looking for the right time to reintroduce my old and new pages on my social media.
At the end of the day: A positive reflection on what you’ve done during the day
As of now, I’m seeing positive changes everyday. What about you? What’s your go to mantra/ quote?
It was a great 2 months

When you wish upon a star
Finally, the last section of this very long post. My wish list! The last time I wrote a wish list was on the blog that I had during secondary school. I graduated 2 times since and I’m approaching my 3rd graduation at the end of the month. I guess that depicts how much time have past. Is stating wish lists still in or is that just a thing of the past now? Either ways, here’s my ever changing wish list or should I say my goals list:
Looking for hair salon sponsorship so that I can redye my hair - I have a distinct black and brown colour on the top halve and bottom halve of my hair
Tumblr media
Source
This is my hair goals kind of hair. Or anything with purple and pink. I’m crazy about those two colours. I’m fine with red too but I’ve done red before so it’s time to try something new.
Will be heading to C3 Anime Festival Asia 2017 if nothing crops up - my plan is to cover  AFA and get some stuff. It’s been long since I’ve wandered into an anime festival. Yes, I’m a closeted Otaku. Ok Kind of. This is clearly a goal. Why is this here.
More cute stuff! I know this blog is not really cutisy kind but I do want to include that genre.
I guess that’s it. I’m more of a follow the wind and make a nest kind of person. So I do embrace whatever is thrown to me in a professional manner. Or at least I hope.
That’s finally the end of this heart to heart session. Do watch my vlog if you have not and Namaste
Updated - 23 Dec 17
I finally did dye my hair purple/pink, you can see the post here and I went to C3 AFASG. It was so fun and you can view my vlog here.
