What's interesting to me about The Adventures of Dr. McNinja is that despite the fact that it was in many ways the poster child for it's specific brand of early-oughts-twenty-tens LOLrandom online humor, the climax and resolution of the comic felt like a repudiation of that humor. The endgame big bad is the embodiment of prioritizing coolness and spectacle to the exclusion of taking anything else at all seriously, and the titular Doctor's character arc ends with his sitcom-strained relationship with his family finally collapsing in a way it can't recover from, leading to him ducking out of the lifestyle and going into hiding to live anonymously as a bog-standard general practitioner.

2- favorite thing about them?

hmmm...his neuroticism, if that makes sense? rewatching his episode, he almost seems obsessed with following rules and doing everything *right*. it's almost as if he decided to run as far in the opposite direction from his brother as he could go, trying to separate himself from the rest of his family....idk it's interesting

18- favorite relationship in canon?

idk I kinda like his friendship with the turtles! i feel like they would help him be comfortable with himself and help him see that he doesn't have to do everything *right* all the time

24- what other character do they remind you of?

i feel he's kinda like sean mcninja from the adventures of dr. mcninja actually! they're both younger brothers in the shadow of their older brothers, they're both highly strung and kinda insecure, and they're both surprisingly capable in a combat situation!

Being at least 20 years behind on Batman comics means there are whole characters and concepts I simply do not know about.

I don't know who Duke Thomas is. I thought people meant Luke Fox / Batwing but apparently not lol.

I also learned that Tim Drake is bi entirely through fandom and it's hard to reconcile that Tim Drake with the weird Chuck Dixon Tim Drake who kept going on uncomfortable racist adventures.

All I know is: mom killed by racist voodoo stereotype, dad has a worse version of Barbara Gordon's wheelchair arc 'cause Dixon loves writing about disabled people being insecure and miserable, then he fights a bunch of racist Asian stereotypes in a kung fu cult that worships a white man for a while (Dr. McNinja parodied this arc), then he fights the same kung fu cult back home in Gotham's Chinatown.

I didn't read much of his 90s-00s solo run or his Teen Titans stuff because they were not for me lol.

So seeing him through tumblr it's like, cool! They fixed the racism issue and now this bitch gay! Good for him, good for him.

I need to resist nostalgia for the early 2000s, because I know intellectually that I was pretty much just miserable all the time then and that homophobia was both socially acceptable and socially expected, and also that it was the War on Terror and so many of the links in the chain currently being used to throttle us were being forged back in those days, but like...

I miss the good Internet. I miss the way it was before it went all corporate. I miss when it was all anarchic and gave us stuff like "Trogdor the Burninator" and "The Adventures of Dr. McNinja" and not crypto-scams and fascist memes and ai-generated shrimp jesus slop.

damn i went to go reread The Adventures of Dr. McNinja, and apparently its site had apparently been taken down two years ago as a result of an issue with the web host. it's still archived on archive.org as a zip file or through the wayback machine (the latter preserves the alt text jokes and general web format of the series, if that's your thing). And of course there are still physical books being sold, which would benefit the author monetarily. I'd suggest giving it a read if you like random silly antics or if any of these thing sound remotely interesting:
