I'm glad even Henry agrees that a Nightmare prequel is a more interesting prospect than a sequel movie - there's a lot of backstories and worldbuilding they can do with the characters and whatnot. Just seems funny with the timing of the release of The Battle for Pumpkin King.

Personal Rating: 6.5/10

Opinion: Honestly, I found myself a bit underwhelmed by this. I did like it, but I guess I was just expecting a bit more than what I read. I feel like it could've explored Jack and Oogie's friendship a bit more and done more to show how their friendship ended. And I wish they did more with former Pumpkin King, I felt he didn't do as he could to manipulate Oogie and Jack and really serve as the mastermind of the situation. But still, it was a pretty nice story, I just felt it could've been executed better.

Something I am pleasantly surprised about is the fact that a lot of sequel stories for Nightmare Before Christmas in recent years focus more on expanding the other characters dealing with new adventures. In particular Sally

With the news about a potential sequel series/special I was looking into it, and I'm surprised about the stuff I didn't realize was out.

-played Oogie's Revenge, it's got its issues sure, but I love how it let's you explore the environments, the stationary camera inherent to the devil may cry kinda game it is and the original music goes a long way to making it feel really authentic. Plus making a capable manipulative villain out of Oogie when all we had before was a small amount of screentime is nothing to sneeze at.

- Want to play "The Pumpkin King" for GBA. I've heard it's a great metroidvania. I like the idea that Oogie was once the king of a lesser holiday, and I wish his goony army of bugs appeared after it too.

- The Manga "the Battle for Pumpkin King" is also an interesting alternate prequel I haven't read yet, again about Oogies origin as a villain, though this time he was Jack's friend before competing for the title Pumpkin King.

-read the "Zeroes Journey" Manga and it gives some nice looks into the Elves and life in Christmas Town, as well as Lock Shock and Barrel. It has some surprisingly darker and heartfelt moments than I was expecting which was a nice surprise considering it's about Zero running off to Christmas Town.

-I'm excited to get "Long Live the Pumpkin Queen" based on what @bogleech has said about it.

- Ive heard there's another sequel Manga called "Mirror Moon" where Sally deals with a doppleganger as Jack becomes what amounts to Halloween Jahovas witness, trying to bring some Halloween to the other holidays as well.
