For all that people on this site talk about MCR, nobody told me that they worked with Aurelio Voltaire (and the Trans-Syberian Orchestra, and several members of David Bowie’s band, and some other people) on an album inspired by The Labyrinth

Last night I was listening to the 80s Oingo Boingo / Danny Elfman song Weird Science and it reminded me of some petty annoyance from years before.
IMVU used to offer music you could play in the chat rooms from their "music store" but the selection has never been that great. One day I found a cover of Weird Science (they didn't have the original Oingo Boingo version) so I bought it to play in the chat.
The person who covered it (and no, I don't remember who it was) changed the lyric "Not what teachers said to do" to "Not what Jesus said to do."
Why do this? Not only does it change the meaning of the song but it also feels very disrespectful since the original singer / writer is a Jewish man.
It seems to me that sometimes people cover songs without understanding the songs that they are covering and then they change the words and the song loses more meaning. I'm reminded of the scene in Hedwig and The Angry Inch when Hedwig sings The Origin of Love with Tommy and realizes Tommy changed Osiris to "The Sirus" because Tommy knows squat about mythology.
On a more positive side of cover songs, Aurelio Voltaire does the best cover of David Bowie's As the World Falls Down from Labyrinth that I have ever heard. It is on his Black Labyrinth album. And he is so respectful that he uses the same instruments David Bowie used when recording the original.

The Monster Wrangler
Spent all day yesterday drawing this instead of doing sensible things. 😅
I think on daily basis there are a lot of people that need to consider themselves lucky that we keep our monsters in check.😝 It's a full time job keeping those bastards occupied.
Voltaire does a good job with mine a lot of the time and some times I like to imagine I help a little with his too.
In the end they might end up devouring us but we'll give them a good fucking fight for as long as we have a little light to guide us.
It was a song
just a song
That made our hearts grow strong

Aurelio Voltaire in The Black Labyrinth: I am a guy with a flute. I’m also his love interest, a female cave elf. And I’m her dad, who is bent on world domination. I’m a little goblin thief. Now I’m a snake who lives in the walls

I’m always interested in Halloween decorations, but what caught my attention was the My Chemical Romance collab mentioned in the intro.
Apparently someone from MCR is working on Aurelio Voltaire’s new and upcoming album The Black Labyrinth. He’s worked with both Ray Toro and Gerard Way in the past (Raised by Bats and X-Mess Detritus respectively), but this tweet seems to confirm Toro will be the one doing a repeat collab with Voltaire.
The Black Labyrinth is an unofficial sequel and an homage to David Bowie's Labyrinth. Here’s a video of Way and Toro performed Underground at Puppets for Puppertry, a charity event to honor the film.
This is the first time I’ve heard of this project, so maybe someone more informed can chime in, but I already love Oubliette:

Ok this has nothing to do with Minecraft but I mentioned Amid Evil a few posts ago and I just watched the new trailer for the upcoming prequel DLC and it looks so good!!!!
(also, for those who haven't played Amid Evil, those weapons aren't 3D models; they're actually sprites that use texturing-techniques to make them look 3D)

The way Song for the Goblin King and What Will We Do share a melody bc the former was literally a song written for the Goblin King and the latter is what he sings when he finds out the king is dead actually makes me so ill
