Second Rant: The Villainess/Mob/Side Character/ Random Girl Who Wakes up in a Novel She Read

Whoopie! Reincarnated to a novel/game, an interesting concept really. Seeing how there is already a pre-determined story to follow, I do wonder how they'll go about this.

Oh boy. They can't really think of anything else can't they?

Okay so, one thing I really really like genuinely hate about these stories is how the mc always acts so dumb. Like, girl, come on, I think for the past few years you've been in this world you ought to think that things develop.. idk NaTurAlly? Why do you keep saying that "things are changing" like no shit things are changing, you've changed and that's practically gonna cause a ripple effect on everything.

Oh, oh, and I hate it when ml is like obv showing feeeeelingsss but mc is just: (⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠). "No OmG tHaTs NoT PosSIblE, cu'Z he'S supPosEd to FalL foR ThE OrigINaL FL!"

Fuck it even when the ml admits his feelings the girl is just like "no".

It's frustrating to me because authors tend to develop these ladies as quick thinkers and determined, always trying to find ways to avoid death flags set to them. But then they do those aforementioned things and it kinda makes you think how shallow they are. It's like they don't see the relationships they build as real ones and are all just superficial for specific reasons.

I understand the concern when you feel like you're trying to fight against fate but most of these stories don't even actually have that. Things do change and usually nothing terrible happens, but mc acts like there will be even though the author clearly only puts "horrible" things as plot advancers and nothing too serious.

Also, for those mc that woke up in their new body with a shit reputation paired with what everyone knows has a shit personality, why is everyone just okay with her changing all of the sudden — like its just plain stupid. If I knew someone who is evil suddenly becomes good overnight, I would not only be sceptical but also assume that she's possessed (seeing how magic always exists in these worlds i don't that's too far from the realm of possibility right?). This one honestly is what bugs me the most.

Suspicion is removed cu'z mc does something heroic or wonderful (blegh), but that kinda undermines the suffering other people have gone through with the original character. Some authors have even shown fully blown flashbacks where the original character is violent, verbally abusive and typical in every possible way. And these people just, flips a damn switch and say "Oh! She's changed!" Which boggles my mind every time I read something like that.

Which puts me to my next complaint. There is no real villain or even when there is they aren't really appealing. The problems set by the "original" story already gets destroyed like a couple chapters in, so what next? There are quite a lot of stories that just turn the OG Female Lead into whatever the villainess is supposed to be like: delusional, fake, etc. Which to me is, fine, but if you're gonna turn someone else in that world into a villain for the sake of having a bad guy, then why not put the stakes higher? Or at least give them more of a reason than just them feeling entitled to have the boyz. They don't have any substance to them and are bland af. Its a story vying for a downfall you already know will come.

Overall these ladies think too much and too little at the same time. Istg their dialogue can be summarized into "That didn't happen" "This didn't happen in the original.." "Is there a bug in the game..?" or "Why are things not going as the orignal!?"

It burns my brain trying to see through their eyes and understand their logic, until you realize they don't have common sense at all. They are geniuses only when they need to be, but is dumb af everywhere else.

Also, as much as I love puffy, frilly dresses I'm tired of mc changing the og characters seemingly sexiness into this cutesy vibe doesn't sit well with me. They're obviously trying to put this as more of a visual dichotomy between the original character and the current mc, but its not much of a statement. (But honestly this just may be me because I want more sexy mc you know?)

Trust me when I say this post barely covers half of what I truly feel about these stories and this is just the general gist of it. Also couldn't be bothered to add specific titles like the last rant.

  The  Millennium Tour, started by Bow Wow, is coming in full blast-from-the-last motion. The hip-hop figure Bow Wow has announced that he and other renowned musicians will soon hit the road. B2K headlining the first tour sparked not only R&B head’s interest but also controversy. The beef between Omarion and Fizz could’ve harmed the tour's progression. Yet, still, it thrived even more! The numbers show that arenas have been selling out left and right. During the last tour, Bow Wow and Omarion went on stage as headliners. Up and coming music producer and artist, DREADEDWINTER, speaks to CBRRAP’s about his inspirations, origin story and more. 

This Canberra-based producer has seen a meteoric rise on Spotify, going from only 54 monthly listeners in July, to over 32,000 monthly listeners in just one month. His unique sound draws from an eclectic mix of hip-hop, indie, drum and bass and metal and more, an incredibly sonically erudite artist. Here he is, unfiltered:

1. Introduce yourself.

So my name is ‘DREADEDWINTER’ and I make music.

2. When did you formally start marking music?

I started playing around with music when I was around 14-15 with me downloading a copy of FL Studio, was usually stuck to making and uploading shitty rap and sometimes multi genre beats that weren’t the best of tracks with a flawed structure in each and every track, I then took a break for a couple of years to perfect everything and get some school stuff done and now I’m back into it, starting anew a year ago.

3. I see a lot of nature on your page, do you tap into nature as a creative force for your music, or do you just like the natural aesthetic?

The aesthetics of nature is something I hold dear and appreciate to the fullest extent, however it’s not the sole reason as to why I use a lot of nature. I also use nature to tap into a more life-like and sombre feeling in the more ambient and multi genre tracks.

4. Do you have any inspirations?

I have many inspirations spanning many different musical genres, however, I’m also inspired by other things like nature, art, sometimes video games and what have you.

5. You seem to like a lot of obscure genres, even referencing Dariacore in one of your skits. Would you describe your music as obscure or just the inspirations that you draw upon to be obscure?

I would say that some of the inspirations that I’ve drawn upon, whilst listening to a diverse catalogue of music, have been what could be called obscure or niche.

6. What are you currently listening to right now?

The Microphones, Ovlov, Leroy / Jane Remover, Eric DOA, Summrs, reptilian club boyz, Yabujin, also my guy Lil Timmy Turner and so much more.

7. What is the ethos behind your music? What are you trying to do/accomplish with your sound?

The main underlying force behind my music is derived from a need to improve, a need to improve the way in which music is going by pushing boundaries and trying out new ideas. This also goes into what I’m trying to accomplish in terms of my sound. What I’m trying to do is to basically try and motivate people to include a more diverse catalogue in their music as a result of listening to my music, which derives from diverse inspirations.

8. What is your musical origin story? What pushed you to get started?

Music to me is kind of a therapeutic thing to me, I do music whenever I feel blue or whenever I feel like it, I just make it for the love of it. I’m not motivated by the materialism or the gaudy luxury cars of today, I’m solely motivated by a love of music. As I got older, I wanted to be serious about showing the world my work so I got around doing that last year with ‘SKULLKID’ which went absolutely bonkers for a fresh new artist and is something I’m still proud of today!

9. You seem to have a lot of fans in the tiktok e-community!

I know, there’s a whole lot of them and they’re streaming the shit out of my Spotify as we speak! I don’t really have anything else to say, they’re cool.

10. Where does the name “DREADEDWINTER” come from?

‘DREADEDWINTER’ comes from a phenomenon that happens to me but not as much anymore. I always feel the most blue in winter and always winter, so I grew to love/hate winter, but the appreciation of the season would get overclouded by my hate of it due to me feeling so down for months on end. Despite the despair that I would occasionally go through in winter, I’ve grown to learn valuable lessons from those dark times, and oftentimes I would be grateful towards these dark times for giving me the time to learn something valuable. The name also represents a constant growth, a constant maturing process if you will, it is essentially me moving on from the bad days towards the good with the knowledge I’ve learnt from the bad.

11. You started building your online presence during a time when everyone was indoors. Do you think being at home helped cultivate your creativity?

Absolutely. It essentially gave me time to get my shit together and go for it. Being indoors helped me go back to the computer and I played around with the VSTs and Plug-ins again, giving me that feeling I had when I was a kid, this then motivated me to make music again. It surprisingly got my creativity back into me and I’ll be grateful of the fact for a really long time.

12. You have 3 wishes. What do you want?

My first wish is for a new sort of scene in Canberra and nation/world wide that emphasises the idea of not being afraid, not being afraid to experiment and not being afraid of constraints, both internal and external.

My second wish would be to work with more people.

My third and final wish would be to expand both my online and my IRL presence.

Canberra, Australia.

14. Message to the fans?

I know this is going to sound cliche and pretentious, but here it goes.

Don’t give up, no matter what please don’t give up. When you give up you miss out on a lot of opportunities, some that you may never conceive of if you give up all the sudden. To make it up to the crowd for letting them down, Trey brought out George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic (also known as The P. Funk All-Stars). Trey commented “and that’s even better than Touch Me!” Page teased Touch Me while Trey was talking. The ensuing P. Funk Jam moved through pieces of several classic Parliament/Funkadelic tunes including Butt-a-Butt, Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker), P. Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up), and One Nation Under A Groove. Get Low (Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz) was also part of the medley. By the end of the jam, Fish was alone on stage playing vacuum. Fish then exited, leaving the stage empty. Phish returned alone to finish Makisupa; to prove that P. Funk was better than Fish singing Touch Me, Makisupa closed with Fish singing the first line of Touch Me a cappella. During the last chorus of Contact, Trey sang lines like “L.A. Woman” and “Make my funk the P. Funk” in place of his usual harmonies.

Bow Wow Announces All-New ‘Millennium Tour’ Lineup Featuring Keri Hilson, Mario, Day26, & More

  The  Millennium Tour, started by Bow Wow, is coming in full blast-from-the-last motion. The hip-hop figure Bow Wow has announced that he and other renowned musicians will soon hit the road. B2K headlining the first tour sparked not only R&B head’s interest but also controversy. The beef between Omarion and Fizz could’ve harmed the tour's progression. Yet, still, it thrived even more! The numbers show that arenas have been selling out left and right. During the last tour, Bow Wow and Omarion went on stage as headliners. Most of the tunes those nights came off of their collaborative album, Face Off. This time around, he’ll be joined onstage by R&B singer Mario. The tour will be called The Millennium Tour: Turned Up. Mario recently did a Verzuz against Omarion. Musicians like Keri Hilson, Lloyd, Pleasure P, Bobby V, Day 26, Ying Yang Twins, Dem Franchize Boyz, Crime Mob, Sammie, Chingy, Travis Porter, Lil Scrappy, and Trillville are expected to rock the stage as well. Tickets are available for pre-save on August 18, with the general sale starting the following day. The Millennium Tour: Turned Up will start on Oct. 7 in Hampton, Virginia.
