the edge chronicles really has it all huh. fucked up beasts. sky pirates. gore and violence. the cruel and vicious cycle of nature. librarians who either double as weathermen or knights. a goth librarian who wears a plague doctor mask and worships the devil. giant bear creatures who are Big Friends. a character named bungus. literally who else is doing it like her

Bruh I completely forgot about the edge chronicles do they still hold up? Never finished them but now I kinda want to
Yeah they’re cool as hell. It definitely starts out as a kid’s series in Beyond the Deepwoods but then it very quickly gets dark and more oriented for like teenagers/young adults. Also epic worldbuilding and fantasy adventures and there’s flying pirate ships which is objectively awesome.

I am once again thinking about the traumatizing art in the edge chronicles

I remember watching The Boxtrolls for the first time and all I could think about was Twig Verginix. An orphan boy with unruly black hair, named after a random object, raised by trolls in a steampunk-adjacent world, leaves behind the ways of the trolls to reconnect with his human/fourthling origins and fights capitalists. And wears blue.
If they ever make an Edge Chronicles movie, I hope it's stop-motion

Currently reading my way through the Edge Chronicles… I’m absolutely obsessed with this series’ delightfully grotesque creature designs, so I tried my hand at drawing some of them myself!

nate: anime girl breaks curse haunting family, immediately turns around and jumps off cliffs for funsies
cade: horsegirl oppression is a serious issue
