Sonic the Tarot Update #5

Hey y'all, we're back with another update! [WARNING FOR SONIC FRONTIERS SPOILERS] First off, we'd like to show off our Swords suit! The Swords suit traditionally embodies action, power, and taking charge--perfect for the antagonists in the Sonic franchise!

We have also officially completed the lines for the Wands suit, and are well on our way through the Pentacles! Regarding our schedule, we're happy where we are currently and don't foresee any delays down the road.

We do have a question for y'all! Currently, we plan to have a two-part box for Sonic the Tarot that will look similar to this example image from our planned printer, MPC:

Our question involves the boxart of Sonic the Tarot (and also the cover of the booklet). Our original plan was for a new illustration entirely, themed like the cover of a comic book. Would you like to see something like that, or prefer a different option?

We can't guarantee we will for sure go for the most popular choice, but we will try our best to keep it in mind for our final decision. Thanks for bearing with us, and look forward to the Wands suit for our next update!

It was always weird to me how Sonic just blindly followed the voice in the sky without question, yet questioned Sage's motives multiple times.

Even during the towers on Rhea, Sonic never thought "Wait a minute, maybe I shouldn't be doing what the voice tells me to do..."

update on the Purple Moon of Death in Sonic Superstars thing!

the good news is: Ian Flynn has stated that it is NOT, in fact, The End! which means it didn't randomly leave Cyber Space during the Classic Era, meaning that dramatic plot point remains intact!

the bad news: he also clarified that The End is dead. meaning It likely won't return to haunt Sonic like i rambled about that one time, and that my ask blog for It is even less canon now that it was yesterday. i imagine whoever chooses these things could change their mind, but for now, F.

The End of Sonic Frontiers

Okay I've been stuck on this for my Frontiers AU/rewrite for entirely too long now, so I gotta ask. If Sonic were to give The End a nickname before finding out their identity (like he did with say, Chip), what do you think it would be?

Potentially important context: Sonic has amnesia from the very start. The End is, ironically, the first person he ever meets, and by the time he's nicknaming them, they've earned his trust.

I've considered Radio, Echo, Choir/Chorus, Gale, Raine, Chord, Decibel... and not all of those are out of the question, but it's hard to figure out what Sonic would call them. He doesn't have a lot to go off of even in my own story, because they're just "a mysterious voice in the sky" who gives him information. and who he makes fun of a little bit for not having a sense of humor

So now I consult the fanbase on this one: got any new ideas for what they should be called? Or maybe you want to vote for one of the ones I already came up with? They're gonna be called this for like 90% of the story, so it's important that it works

Edit: About a week's worth of story development later, and I think I've reached a decision on the name! I won't reveal it in this post, but it's one that wasn't originally listed.

Picture this: Sonic has just beaten The End. The Chaos Emeralds all go flying every which way like the Dragon Balls. Sonic and friends are cheering, and Eggman's like "ready to go home, Dear Daughter™?" Sage looks over towards Sonic and says "Not yet. There's one more thing I'd like to do."

An orchestral arrange of I'm With You starts playing as she floats over to the heroes. "Sonic. Now that you no longer have access to the Chaos Emeralds ... it is time for us to do battle." Knuckles is facepalming himself into next week, we talked about this Sonic, but Sonic's like "nah it's cool, she just needs to blow off steam, right?"

Cue final boss Sage. She's her father's daughter, after all! Of course she's gonna wanna test her mettle against Eggman's arch-nemesis! They square up, and have a boss fight which is just normal Sonic against normal Sage. The background music is the orchestral I'm With You just having fun.

She's fine, after you win! It was just a Cyberspace projection, damaging it doesn't actually harm her. But after fighting The End ... well, now you've got a new beginning, right? The beginning of Sage's place at Eggman's side.
