So The Fiesta Host is an Aztec Ghost was a pretty decent episode. It was a lot more focused on wacky hijinks and slapstick unlike the last episode, and that’s a perfectly fine thing to be! And boy! The slapstick was good there! It’s really good that they have a budget now! And I am enjoying every second of the improved animation! It’s just so nice and smooth and they do some fun and interesting movement with it! I love it!
Decent episode. But what kinda confused me at the end there was that Fred started to feel like the main character... Like, the main character of Scooby-Doo, if anything is Shaggy. Scooby isn’t always the most understandable person when it comes to dialogue, and while he’s always gonna be the one the kiddos will latch onto, he really is more of the star of the show rather than being the main character. But Shaggy receives just as much, if not sometimes a little more attention than Scooby and is going to be the character the audience will tend to relate to the most. So Fred really feeling like the main character, making all of the decisions, and taking a lot of the focus felt rather odd! It threw me off. It is by no means a bad thing, but I think that this is the first time that it’s done that, and it took me by surprise! Though I do think that it would be pretty cool if there could be episodes where Velma and Daphne feel like the main characters.

Bein’ a kid... watchin’ The Fiesta Host Is an Aztec Ghost...
...discovering that when it comes to animation...
...the pause button...
...is a gateway to magnificent things.
Smear and stretch frames blew Little Colin’s mind, man.

October 4: Scooby-Doo: The Fiesta Host Is An Aztec Ghost.
Rating: 4/5.
Comment: The Mystery Machine breaks down in a giant footprint on the road while headed for the Fiesta town of Cinco. The statue of Katazuma, an ancient Aztec king, catches hold of Shaggy’s enormously baggy shirt and he, of course, proceeds to run in place for awhile. The statue walks over to where Scooby is unloading…

Oh my dear sweet Arceus above! I am less than 10 seconds into this episode of Scooby-Doo (The Fiesta Host is an Aztec Ghost) and I am already cracking up! Because... Just... The first shot that we have in this episode is of the Mystery Machine being driven. Pretty standard for the start of a Scooby-Doo episode. But it’s from an angle that we’ve never seen it at before! We are low to the ground looking up at it as it passes by. But the Mystery Machine is nyooming by so fast that it feels like Fred is flooring it! Like, sheesh Fred! Slow down! You almost hit us!
