Whether he was romantically in love with Jo or not is left up for debate (and I think the story leaves that deliberately ambiguous) but the fact is that The Doctor is reflecting solemnly on an adventure he can never have

So, my dumbass always wondered why the queen dragon in HTTYD 1 was dubbed ‘the Green Death’. Clearly their color scheme was more bluish-red.
However, my sister made a very good point when watching the movie the other day: when the dragon’s preparing to fire, it’s green gas. the last thing you see before death comes.
