Do you have any Moomin headcannons? If so may we please hear them?
Yeah!! Incomplete list of headcanons includes
Moominpappa eats all of his food at restaurants, but when the waiter asks how it was, he says "Can't you see? I hated it!" and wheezes at his own joke for 5 minutes. This happens every time.
Moomintroll plays minecraft on peaceful mode
Moominmamma makes angel's food cake. And when she's feeling dicey? Devil's food cake
90s Snork uses the 😡 emoji
Hodgkins is always the cameraman. He tries to put the camera on a timer, but it's just a blurred shot of him running toward the others every time
If Sniff wore a covid mask, he'd wear it over his nose but not his mouth
Mrs. Fillyjonk would wear cat-eye glasses
Joxter shoves Moominpappa's hat over his snout anytime he needs him to shut up
Snufkin, 2019 Sniff, and 90s Mr. Hemulen are so autism
I headcanon half of the characters as bi (projecting)
Fuzzy smells like that pink kind of soap
Snorkmaiden and Little My played Rapunzel in Moomintroll's window
Last but not least, the Groke is scared of Little My

UHM!!!! HI!!!!! Just wanted to pop in to say I love the way you draw Muddler and Joxter -- they're so.. idk how to describe but their vibes are off the charts, I just love them. It's been a while since fandesigns for them stood out to me.
- Flowerbloom-arts
AUAUUAUAUU !!!! THAT MEANS ALOT THANK YOU!!!! I feel like I draw them differently each time, so they're less than consistent but they're fun to draw all the same. Muddler to me is probably the tallest in the Oshun Oxtra crew with Hodgkins being just a bit below him, I like the idea of him being tall and lanky. Him fitting awkwardly in his can as well as looking awkward next to the rest of the crew is such a fun concept for him. That and I like the double whiskers I do for him, idk what look it gives him but it fits REALLY well for me. Of course baggy clothes and i have yet to draw his GLOVE SOCKS but overall he gives me like weasel energy not in the sense of behavior (maybe) but definitely looks. Joxter is deliberately coded as a cat in the memoirs, but I don't like the look of going too into the "creechur" look a lot of people go for. Instead I kept him more regular looking because I think it emphasizes more how ruffled and lazy he looks- he's not elaborate or anything and his looks, I think, should mirror that. It's also why I have him wrapped in a blanket all the time!! Trying to evoke the idea of when you first get up and you walk around with a blanket wrapped around you until you decide to get dressed. For his hair I literally do whatever it is NOT consistent. I think the only creature-esque parts i have for him are his nose, whiskers and tail, but that's about it.

Unrealistic things I need if- when MV2019 will do Moominpappa's memoirs
-A cool/dramatic introduction for Joxter, he could act silly but I think it'd be cool if he pretended to be mysterious just to mess with Moomin(pappa)
-Muddler being treated properly as a character and not just someone to make fun of/add to the comedy
-The crew messing around and Hodgkins being the mom of the group
-Young Mymble not looking just like a shrunken version of her 3d model and not have 2d emotions
-Joxter being a cat
-Joxter's pupils being cat-like (and they get big when he sees someone he likes- jk that's just my opinion)
-I. NEED. EMOTIONS. when they finally meet/fall in love with their future partners
-The family reunions in the end!! ESPECIALLY Joxter and Snufkin
-References to Snufkin's backstory while Moominpappa is explaining the story
-CRIME TIME

Now. The books. Uhm. There's a lot. I'll make this quick.
Tumblr media
From left to right, top bottom top.
Comet in Moominland -- 1946 -- included the first appearances of many characters including Snufkin and Snorkmaiden.
Finn Family Moomintroll -- 1948 -- a small collection of various stories, including small blurbs for each character.
The Exploits of Moominpappa -- 1950 (revised later in 1968 and renamed "Moominpappa's Memoirs") -- tales of Moominpappa's youth, when he was still called Moomintroll. Includes new characters such as the Joxter (Snufkin's father) Hodgkin, and the Muddler (Sniff's father)
The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My -- 1952 -- Ngl I don't know much about this book other than the fact Mymble and Little My are sisters.
Moominsummer Madness -- 1954 -- infuriatingly close to romance between Snufkin and Moomin during a prison break. Pretty sure Snufkin's iconic line "let's go fill Moominvalley with crime" is in the anime adaptation of this book. Something to do with a failing theatre but it's kind of overshadowed by Snufkin's and Moomin's pining./hj (Please they're so gay it hurts)
Moominland Midwinter -- 1957 -- Moomintroll wakes up from hibernation (yes they hibernate) and is unable to go back to sleep. Too-ticky (white and red striped sweater, if you wanna look 'em up) helps him through it.
Who Will Comfort Toffle? -- 1960 -- Toffle leaves his home to try and find friends (he's a lonely lil' guy. Wet cat vibes.) And ends up rescuing Miffle (another character, doesn't appear much) from The Groke
Tales from Moominvalley -- 1962 -- a collection of short stories
Moominpappa at Sea -- 1965 -- The Moomins basically move away to an island, along with Little My and The Groke. It's. Really sad actually.
Moominvalley in November -- 1970/71 -- last official book, it's basically all the characters trying to find oit what happened to the Moomin family, as they found their home abandoned. Also I keep forgetting to mention Fillyjonk. Everyone say hi to Fillyjonk, the Moomins' neighbor. I probably won't speak of her again. Anyways, the book ends with them not fully finding out what happened.
The Dangerous Journey -- 1977 -- last book written by Tove before her death, it follows a human that accidentally got into Moominvalley. Happy ending, though.
JESUS THAT GOT SAD TOWARDS THE END,, those last three books sound really interesting :DD!! ( i mean, they all do but YKNOW HWGRH )
also, snufkin and moomin are GAY??? HELL YEAH WOOOO!!!! I WAS NOTT EXPECTING THAT!!!!
you know a lot about these this is awesome
also i think you'd be glad to know that ive been getting moomin related things in my recommended

How do you think MV19 is going to adapt "Moominpappa's memoirs"? Because it seems like they're also doing the comet adaptation, so they are going to clash both¿
I doubt Gusty would have the gall to make a straight adaptation of Moominpappa's Memoirs so late into the series and somehow fit it into the plot of Comet in Moominland, or at least I hope they don't have the gall to do it in their 13 episode runtime.
They already referenced the story in good detail in the Golden Tail episode, they've already referenced Edward, the Muddler, the Nibling and Hodgkins, now we just need them to follow it through with something more substantial, because the show's viewers who haven't watched or read anything else of Moomin are definitely going to be wondering who exactly Muddler and Hodgkins are, and what the heck a Nibling is.
They've already used up the Ghost (or at least a character similar to it) and sent him to the aurora borealis in season 1, I can imagine that maybe they would, like, do a throwback to him but honestly who even thought about the 2019 Ghost in any substantial way after that episode? The creators don't even bother putting Emma or Ninny in crowd shots or give them small character bits past their respective episodes, so it's doubtful they'd being the Ghost back. It'd be redundant to have an episode dedicated to Moominpappa's backstory adapted into a stage play only for us to see a flashback version of it unless they really wanna go out there with it. The Joxter lacks even a peep of reference which is super weird so it'd be double weird to bring him in with Muddler and Hodgkins who have been mentioned, like, who the hell is that guy?
If they want to bring in Moominpappa's Memoirs in a way that feels more natural for the final season of a show they should probably just adapt the epilogue where they have a big family reunion, perhaps interweave Moominpappa's character into it and make him proactive in seeking out his old friends for the adventure and we'd get the adaptation through his reminiscing while the end of the world is ongoing, I think that'd be neat.
You could even sprinkle in a little heartbreak and say he's doing it for a proper goodbye because if they did in fact make Moomins and the Great Flood canon then that would make Moominpappa abandoning his family for years canon, and that could extend to him abandoning the Oshun Oxtra without warning because something something he was too selfish and he gets character development when he realizes how self-centered he's been and tries to make up for it.
Perhaps that would be the B-plot with the Moominparents instead of them staying at home waiting around like in the book while the kids go off on their mountain-trotting adventure.
Honestly I just want Sniff's character arc to end with him finding his proper parents who care for him along with getting the cat he adopts in Comet in Moominland. Everyone else has been very rude or disregarding him throughout the show, that was even his main thing in season 3, so it would mean the world to me if he just. Gets a Happy Ending.
What I'm most worried about in an adaptation (adjacent) of Memoirs is the infantilization of the Muddler, everything else is either already gotten down by the show (Moominpappa's character) or difficult to mess up unless they're actively trying to (Hodgkins and Joxter's characters) but Muddler........ It's already a problem within the fandom and we know Gutsy and Moomin co. do cater to the fandom quite a bit. Maybe it's just that he's my favorite character ever but I am. Worried about him. Especially considering characters like Sniff or Toffle.
But like, yeah, you can do alot with Moominpappa's Memoirs but I doubt Gutsy writers have the imagination or brain power to manage it alongside a Comet in Moominland adaptation some the likely adaptations of the comics or original plot episodes. That episode based on Moominvalley in November is the most egregious thing they've done in the world as an adaptation and I hope they don't stoop down to that again but, yeah.
It really sucks that the showrunners weren't sure if they were gonna get past season 2, they could've done alooooot better with the show's plot and character arc structure and I'm sceptical about the quality of a simultaneous Comet in Moominland and Moominpappa's Memoirs adaptation for the final season. But we'll see.

Talk more about the unpopular opinions of the Oshun Oxtra. I wanna hear it.
Moominpappa: He is literally the most Not Normal and Mentally Ill member of the Oshun Oxtra why is he the one who gets casted as the slightly annoyed straight man.
Muddler: Please stop infantilizing him, I know he's a sweet guy and a babygirl but he's not a child :(( AND he is criminally underutilized.
Joxter: Stop making him a cat Onceler. Like seriously. Stop it. Draw him (INCLUDING HIS BODY) using circles for once.
Hodgkins: The way he gets sidelined when he's the most important person for Moominpappa and Muddler is really sad, and even when people do use him as a bigger role, the way he gets casted as this fanon Tony Stark-esque tired/serious dad archetype really irks me.

I finally got around to making this edit for Origins. I already made one for Awakening. That one was far easier to make.

Sweden is celebrating Xmas today, but I'm not joining the family. I found out earlier this week that I might have Hodgkin's lymphoma: cancer in the lymphatic system. Not to mention that my beloved cat is on his last leg. The year 2022 is not ending well for me.

2007. Bria was back on top. She was cast in a film directed and produced by Brad. It was a project they came up with together. The film follows a divorced couple forced to come together to find their missing dog. It touched on subjects like mental illness, addiction, and loneliness. Heath Ledger was cast as her ex-husband because she wanted to work with him. He agreed to do it. However, he asked if they could shoot it in New York so he could be close to his daughter.
They agreed to do that. They also cast Matt, as a friend of Heath’s; Daveigh Chase, as a girl who helps them search for their missing dog; Anthony Rapp, as a friend of Bria’s; Jennifer Garner, as her mother; and Barry Watson, as her older brother. They also cast Misty, Kate Spade and Growler as the missing dog with Bruiser as an extra. Brad involved her in every step of the process.
She was interested in everything that went into making a movie. He picked her brain and got her opinion about different aspects of the movie. It was their first project together and they were excited! They scouted locations, hired a film crew, got permits to film in New York, negotiated salaries and everything else that was required. The film was shot over three months, all of which were spent in the city. Before filming started, she and Brad had a cast party in their hotel suite for everyone.
They got to know each other while enjoying different types of pizza. Among the usual choices, they also got vegan and gluten-free. Just in case anyone had dietary restrictions. They spent the evening talking and hanging out.
“My house is insane! It’s me, Brad, my brother-in-law, his boyfriend and our friend. Then, we have four dogs and three cats. My ex-husband was living with us for a while but he moved to London for work.”
“Why do you have so many people living in your house”, Anthony asked.
“I had empty rooms. It’s also a great arrangement because we look out for each other. There’s also never a dull moment when everyone is together.”
“Which animals are yours?”
“I have three cats; Micha, Henry and Princess and a dog named, Kate Spade. Princess thinks she’s the Queen of the house.”
Brad laughed because it was true. Heath found her easy to work with on set. She didn’t have an attitude and was open to just about anything asked of her. He was able to keep his natural Australian accent. They had conversations about addiction. She shared her experiences with drugs that started when she was drugged by her former management team.
She then became addicted to heroin. It was a horrible drug because she got addicted to it right away. He hated drugs because he had seen what they could do. They were not something anyone should ever get involved in. She agreed. If she could do it again, she wouldn’t. She was sober for four years. However, she was always at risk for relapse. He asked her why. She detailed her experiences with bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, anxiety and depression.
The film was inspired by her relationship with her ex-husband. They both had a shared drug addiction. He got help for cocaine.
“Are you still friends with him?”
“Oh, yeah. He’s one of my best friends. I just have to kick his ass every so often.”
He laughed. Barry remembered working with Brad on Oceans Eleven. They had fun catching up with each other. After ten years on his show, 7th Heaven, he walked away in 2006 to pursue other opportunities. He missed his cast members. They kept in touch with phone calls and texts. He got married and divorced. The year before, he got married again. He also battled non-Hodgkins lymphoma but was currently in remission.
Brad shared his relationship with Bria. They had been together for three years. They talked about getting married but they were not ready yet. It wasn’t a big priority for them, since they both had been married before. He could understand that. Marriage wasn’t for everyone.
Barry watched their relationship from a distance while on set. They were in love. They also had a mutual respect. Yes, they had a big age gap but that didn’t seem to matter. Barry was only seven years older than her. He thought she was gorgeous! But, they were both in committed relationships. Anthony found her beautiful, as well. He considered himself to be bisexual.
If she lived in New York and was single, he would ask her out. Matt was thrilled to work with Bria! He hugged her and asked her how she was. She updated him on everything. He and his wife had to come over sometime and hang out with everybody!
“I have two daughters now.”
“Oh my god! Congratulations! Dude, I have a cat room and a gaming room. You can bring them over. I also have an indoor pool. They can bring their swimsuits!”
“How much coffee have you had?”
Brad laughed from a distance.
“This is all-natural ADHD energy!”
After the film was finished, it was screened for the media. It was given good reviews for the production and acting. Brad submitted it for the Sundance Film Festival in Utah and the Cannes Film Festival in France. The band was able to see it before it premiered in theatres internationally. They were excited to see it! Once they were gathered together, he put the disc into the DVD player.
The film starts with her waking up in her walk-up one-bedroom apartment. She got up and got ready for the day. While at work, she is approached by Anthony who asks her about her weekend. Towards the middle of the film, she gets a text message from Heath saying their dog, Buddy is missing.
She goes over to his apartment, where they argue. It is apparent they were going through an ugly divorce and were fighting over Buddy. Another thing they fought over was his alcoholism.
Jennifer encourages them to work together. While doing so, they are forced to talk about why their marriage failed. There are flashbacks to times when they fought. Every time they did, he would retreat and start drinking. It is revealed that she ended the marriage after he drunkenly threw her into a wall during a fight. It was the defining moment for him to get sober.
The movie ended with them getting Buddy back. Heath submits himself to rehab for his alcoholism. He also admits fault to Bria. Mike and Dave saw how much her marriage to Jason influenced the film. It was very well done. The actors did a great job! They thought it was funny to see Kate, Growler and Misty acting as Buddy. Since they were the same breed of dog and the same age, they could be switched without anyone knowing. They were even given a place in the credits. Rob congratulated her. She thanked him.

43. If you could thank anyone, who would you thank and why?
Possibly the first words we were taught as babies were, “please” and “thank you”.   From the earliest age and for the simplest gift we gave thanks.  It is a good lesson and a habit that is not forgotten and seldom abandoned with age.
We never can know what might have been but I am very thankful that my grandparents had the courage to leave their homelands and venture to unknown places in Canada. Stephan and Eva Kolody elected to go thousands of miles to where they had no home, no family, no friends and did not speak the language. That takes courage beyond description for which I am thankful.  Both my maternal and paternal grandparents did just that.  My paternal grandparents left Galacia to be potato farmers in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1909.  Their homeland was divided and at war and they dreamed of being able to work in peace and earn a living in return.  They came to Canada with no money, little education and a great hope for a new life free from political oppression.  The Bolsheviks were running rampant through their motherland.
I know little of my maternal grandparents, Peter and Anna Schreyer.  My mother was 7 when her father died and 9 years old when her mother died.  My aunt Caroline Sitter, my mother’s oldest sister was married before my mother was born and had children older than  my mother. My grandfather Schreyer was a successful wheat farmer and in very few years was growing enough wheat in Ladywood, Manitoba, to repay the Canadian government for his land grant. They were hard working people and I am grateful they had the courage that allowed me to be born a Canadian.
If it were possible to go back in time I would certainly thank all the neighbors we ever had from my earliest days.  World War II was raging and some things were scarce.  Neighbors shared their children’s outgrown clothing, shoes, and food ration stamps.  Everyone seemed to care for their neighbor and we were no exception.  Since I have had a family of my own my experience has been the same with the exception of one neighbor I had in Warner.  He was unfortunately, home    quite mentally ill and was moved to family in Maine.  When we lived in Alaska and Heather and Jaylyn were toddlers, the teachers who lived in the apartment above us would bring home interesting things for them to see.  They once brought a gerbil that got loose i the apartment and we spent several hours trying to trap it in one room.  I was happy we succeeded before nightfall.  My neighbors in Washington became lifelong friends.  My dear friend, Rose is now gone but Jack is surprisingly spry at 90. I cannot even remember the names of the neighbors with whom I car pooled when Peter was in kindergarden.  I had a Triumph Spitfire which had one passenger seat in front and a ledge just large enough for three small bottoms in the back.  It was adequate except that I drove
on, “show and tell,” day and one little boy always had a new airplane to show.  The planes usually had a wing span the width of my car.  Somehow we managed.  I thank all those Moms for their patience.
I have thanked my primary care physician who insisted that I get the nodes on my left clavicle biopsied as soon as possible. The surgeon opined that this was probably, “cat scratch fever” and he prescribed an oral antibiotic. After I finished the antibiotic with no change in the nodes, I insisted they be biopsied.  I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.  I chose to be treated at Dana Farber Cancer institute in Boston after three treatment failures here in Concord.  I am very thankful for my primary care physician who insisted those nodes needed to be biopsied,  I have been cancer free for fifteen years.
I am most thankful for my current neighbors.  Since I am the current neighborhood octogenarian, they all seem to look out for me.  They are all exceptionally kind and generous.  During Covid confinement they shopped for me and drove me to appointments.  They are wonderful people and I am thankful to be so blessed.
I am thankful for my Domino’s group.  We meet every two weeks for a few hours of conversation, laughter and even a good Domino’s game or two.
I will end this story by recognizing how wonderful my grandchildren are.  Without exception they are kind,  generous and thoughtful human beings.  I am grateful for them and thankful that I am so blessed.  These days I am beyond thankful and delighted that I am blessed with my new wee, sweet darlings Joan Clementine, Everett Floyd, Laura Winter,  Harriet Murphy and a coming February arrival.  My life has had many blessings and for all that I am thankful.
