Lucy Gray: You remind me of the ocean.
Coryo: Because I have blue eyes, and I'm deep and mysterious?
Lucy Gray: No, because you're full of salt and you scare people.

imagine being determined about someone so much that when there’s a secret plan to keep you alive the people in it have to make sure that they keep the one person you’d protect with your life alive as well because without them you wouldn’t keep fighting for yourself. everlark can’t be topped.

Rip to "Poor Sejanus. Poor sensitive, foolish, dead Sejanus." "Can you imagine naming your child Reaper and them ending up in the reaping?" "Poor Lucy Gray. Poor ghost girl singing away with her birds." and "Well, you know what they say. The show’s not over until the mockingjay sings." We deserved you in the movie....

I think- don't mind me if I step onto this soap box real quick. -I think in a way Finnick and Annie may be a representation of what would have happened to Katniss and Peeta if they had won their games separately.
Maybe I'm just an idiot who looks for parallels where there aren't any, but don't you think Katniss would have gone mad eventually? If she'd been alone in her victory, if she'd had to follow the same rules as the other Victors- prostitution, mentoring, being paraded around like a dog on a leash. -mentally she wouldn't have really survived it all, especially not with the guilt of being the only survivor of her games. Meanwhile, Peeta would go along with it all just like Finnick. Allow himself to be a charming stud with endless lovers who paints portraits of a faceless girl who haunts him endlessly. To survive how he can best; by his charms. And they'd find their way to each other. They always do.
It's why I like to think Annie and Katniss become such close friends after the war. I think they see themselves in each other, and there's a deep peace in that for them.
Anyways. Just a thought.

sponsors
|you're allying with finnick during the quarter quell when a sponsor sends a delicious sauce for the fish finnick caught.|
sweat dribbles down your face as the rest soaks in your jumpsuit. you're lightly panting as the greenery whistles and sings about. birds and exotic animals hiding as you haven't even seen one yet. hunger scratches and pulls at your insides, you try to stay alert as you wait for Finnick's return but you can't with all this chipping from the wildlife.
you hear a rustle and you're up with your knife in front of Finnick's nose, you lay your arm down immediately as he looks rather amused with your half-assed attempt to kill him
"you know, slicing someone's nose off isn't the fastest way to kill them" he teases you, sitting down as he places the fish he caught on some huge leaves. so his trip to the ocean side was successful.
you can't stop the smile stretching your face as he cuts the fish with such certainty and assuredness, that you almost don't hear the jingling of the sponsor
it lands on the branch above your head and you quickly open it, your face contorts as a red liquid drips onto your hand
"what is it?" Finnick asks, not looking up from his fish
you're nose flares at the familiar scent of spices, you bring it to your lips and recognize it as the shrimp sauce you had back in the capitol
you sit back down and place it in front of him "it's the red sauce" you vaguely say but he knows immediately. hazel eyes wide as he dips the fish in it, you reach over to a piece of fresh fish and dip it as well, the spicy taste mixed with the salty fish calms your needy stomach right away
Finnick laughs slightly as he grabs another piece before he's even finished his first bite "this is extremely unexpected but delicious" you agree with the randomness of the sponsor, usually they're for emergencies but this just might be a plus for allying with Finnick Odair
"don't eat so fast, we still need to hike tonight" you remind him, your other allies still lost as he rolls his eyes and hums a simple "mmhm."

i see people constantly breaking down over how hijacked peeta still remembered katniss’s favorite color but i feel that the fact that he gave her a canned lamb stew is a little bit overlooked??? like- despite everything they did to him, his memories from their time in the cave (and maybe more things, but i’m headed in that direction bc in mockingjay katniss specifically thought about when they ate the stew together) during the 74th games were so engraved in his mind that he saw the can, read the label saying “lamb stew” and he thought about how she had enjoyed that dish so much that they ended up deciding to wait an hour to eat another serving back when they were in the arena, so he gave the can to her because he wanted her to have the pleasure of eating her favorite capitol dish once more. i’m incredibly sick.
