dating with baek kang hyuk headcanon! sfw-nsfw(If you are going to be uncomfortable with the nsfw content, please do not read)
SFW
⌕ back to the beginning, if he realizes he likes you, he might get confused, even if he’s dated someone in the past, he didn’t know if it was the right time. but when his feelings grow, it’ll be hard for you to even understand when you’re dating.
⌕ because he’s a straight-laced guy and will say it openly. he might not be very romantic but when he’s drinking coffee with you on the roof, he’ll say “you know what? i love you” before taking a sip and it might make you spit the coffee in the air.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY?”
“I SAID I LOVE YOU! do i have to yell like you?”
⌕ even though he’s always on the job, his eyes are always on you (except in the operating room, you know he needs to focus and he’ll try not to let you ruin it)
⌕ but of course, if he notices someone acting too close to you when he’s spying on you, it’s a different story. even if they're not very flirty, that smile on your face is enough to make him frown and come over to you two.
"yah! anus! don't you have any work to do, are you still hanging around here? get out!" the nickname he gave him made you laugh, while jae-won smiled shyly at you and quickly left because of kang hyuk's fear. kang hyuk looked around with a fake stretch and finally turned to you "it looks like you still have time to flirt with someone. should i give you more work?"
or if you can't find the person you're looking for, you can be sure that it's because of him.
"have you seen jae-won? he invited me for coffee but didn't show up after that."
"oh him? he's a little busy right now."
"really? but he said-"
your sentence was cut short as jae-won, who was running around, quickly passed you in the hallway, kang hyuk turned to you and narrowed his eyes, leaning towards you a little "what a shame. i have to fill your coffee time now."
⌕ It might be hard for him to admit that he's jealous at first, let's say his ego won't let him.
"wait a minute - were you jealous just now? that look is definitely different."
"don't be ridiculous. I'm just trying to distribute the work properly."
but if you push him...
"what's the problem if I'm jealous? we're dating, right? so stop yapping and get back to work."
⌕ we all know that he likes to give people nicknames. and yes. you have a too. and no. it's not romantic(yet)
he mostly likes to embarrass you in front of people. he likes your furrowed eyebrows and shy looks when you're angry at him. he's actually looking at you with love at the moment, but you might not notice it because you're angry (everyone but you see and know this look)
"chicken, can you give me that file?"
"how many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me that?" you dropped the file in his hand harshly and he just grinned at you. "what's the problem? It suits you."
but things can change when you don't expect it. in the middle of the night, as you are getting ready to fall asleep with difficulty, the hand caressing your hair and the small kiss he places on your head, followed by the sentence "my best medicine." makes you open your eyes quickly and look at him.
"what did you just say?!'
a small giggle filled the room, his voice deep and sleepy, then looked at you with a smile "what happened chicken? are you surprised?"
⌕ he has a hard time sleeping. he definitely makes sure you get enough sleep but it can't be said that he does the same for himself, no matter how much you insist.
but when he finally finds a time to sleep, if you don't have anything important to do, he quickly calls you into the room and doesn't hesitate to bury his head in your neck. "i'm tired. stay still."
or...
"finally. this place doesn't smell like a hospital."
he just needs your scent and warmth at that moment. even if he doesn't get enough sleep, it's okay, that 3 minute calm moment is enough for him to regain his energy.
NSFW
⌕ he is definitely dominant and likes to take control. If you try to be in control, he is likely to make fun of you "do you think you can do this?"
⌕ he doesn't like to rush when he has a lot of time. he mostly likes to watch your reactions, observe what you like and don't like, and get to know your body.
⌕ oh and speaking of bodies, he definitely understands bodies very well. sometimes he stop it especially at the point of pleasure because hearing your whines gives him new reasons to make fun of you.
"I'm not even in, are you giving up already?"
"oh, you like it? then stop holding your voice, there's no one here to hear you."
⌕ we all know this guy is a doctor. so why this detail?
because he definitely has a strong body that can go on more rounds.
sometimes when you think you're done, he can ask for more because he can't resist you. but he also knows that too much pleasure will hurt after a while so... If you're lucky, he will care about that and give you time to rest. "one more round, hm? one last time, I promise. I know it hurts, this will be the last" (liar)
⌕ straightforward. loves to embarrass/annoy you and has a big ego. the only result of this combo is that he's a big expert in dirty talk.
it's not something he can do, he just likes to tell you the way you make him feel, he wants you to know how you drive him crazy.
especially when he whispers in your ear when he's out of breath...
"look at you, you were bolder a moment ago. now you're shaking with pleasure under me. are you going to keep talking big now?"
"hm? do you want me to go faster? what a shame, we still have time. let's stay like this for a while hm?"
"tired already? you wanted to be on top so don't whine and keep moving those hips."
"fuck- that's it. hang on for me a little longer, you feel so good."
⌕ he becomes the sweetest person in the world in aftercare :')
it's important for him to you relax and fall asleep after sex. so even if you're tired, he'll carry you to the bathroom in his arms if necessary and take care of all the work.
"after 5 minutes-" you find yourself in his arms without letting you finish your sentence "I better clean you up before those 5 minutes turn into 5 hours."
he'll caress your back, waist and hair until you fall asleep. a few kisses on your forehead and sweet little whispers. after he's sure you're asleep, he'll whisper one last time before closing his eyes "i love you."

hello??? I need him😭

Can i request Baek Kang Hyuk x fem reader where they're dating and she shows up at the hospital after his accident and everyone's surprised?
Unspoken Worries
Pairing: Baek Kang Hyuk x Fem!Reader
Genre: Angst, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Surprise Relationship Reveal
The tension in HNUH (Hankuk National University Hospital) ER was suffocating. The news had spread quickly—Baek Kang Hyuk had been injured during a rescue. An explosion at the scene had thrown him back, leaving him with a concussion and cracked ribs.
He was stable. Conscious. But the sight of him in a hospital bed was enough to unnerve his colleagues.
Then the doors swung open.
You.
You walked in with urgency, eyes scanning until they landed on him. And in that moment, the entire ER fell into stunned silence.
Dr. Han eyes widened. “Who—?”
Dr. Yang exchanged glances with nurse jang mi, who had actually stopped mid-charting.
But you didn’t acknowledge them. You rushed to Kang Hyuk’s side, your fingers trembling slightly as you brushed his hair back.
“You idiot,” you breathed, voice tight with emotion. “Do you have any idea how worried I was?”
Kang Hyuk, despite his injuries, managed a small smirk. “I’m fine.”
“You were caught in an explosion,” you snapped, voice laced with frustration and relief. “That is not fine.”
Silence. Then—
Jang mi whispered, “Wait… are they…?”
Yang gasped. “No way.”
Nurse Jang mi blinked, putting the pieces together. “You’re dating Baek Kang Hyuk?!”
Kang Hyuk sighed, knowing there was no escaping this now. “Yeah.”
Dr Yang actually dropped his pen. “Since when?”
You ignored them, too focused on Kang Hyuk as your fingers brushed against his bruised knuckles. “I swear, if you ever scare me like this again—”
He chuckled softly. “You’ll do what?”
You huffed but softened. “Just… be careful.”
For once, he didn’t argue. Instead, he reached for your hand, intertwining his fingers with yours.
More gasps. More chaos.
But you didn’t care.
And neither did he.

the trauma code 📢

word count: 2,011
genre: medical drama, hint of angst, slight comedy, romance, smau at the end.
⚠️ mentions of blood, organ, operation, doctor!reader, the bridge incident, the situation is heavily inspired by the eps. 3 & 4
☆ i had this in mind for a few days now, oh, and it's not related to the smau i posted before!
“What a lucky day for Doctor Ji—she’s not even answering my calls.” Jang-mi sighed, setting her phone down. You have finally gotten your first day off since becoming a specialist doctor.
Beside her, Jae-won shrugged. “She deserves it. She’s been working nonstop since she started with Doctor Kwon.”
Gyeong-won nodded in agreement. They barely had time to relax before the intercom buzzed with an urgent announcement.
“Code black! Code black! All doctors report to the ER immediately.”
Their half-eaten lunches were forgotten as they sprinted toward the emergency room. The first thing they saw upon arrival was Doctor Baek, already assessing the situation.
“Anus is going to go with me to the scene” Jae-won looked at him puzzled, “Why do i have to go?”
A heavy silence filled the ER. He could already picture Kang-hyuk sighing, then getting annoyed, and he really didn’t want to deal with that, so he quickly added, “Okay then, i’ll bring the emergency supplies”
When the helicopter finally landed, Kang-hyuk pulled Jae-won's hand to get inside after they removed the patient from the helicopter for treatment in the emergency room.
“How's the situation there?” Kang-hyuk asked over the radio.
There was a brief pause before Officer An Jung-heon’s voice crackled through. “Worse than expected. We still haven’t been able to evacuate the people trapped beneath the bridge.”
Kang-hyuk wasted no time dividing their responsibilities. “I’ll triage the critical patients. Jae-won, take the ones I sort out.”
The pilot asks Kang-hyuk whether he wants to land on the bridge or under the bridge. He, of course, answered that the chopper must land under the bridge.
As soon as they touched down, they hurried into action. Officer An Jung-heon was already on-site, guiding ambulances through the narrow access road.
A child’s cry caught Kang-hyuk’s attention. He rushed toward a little girl, kneeling beside her with the emergency kit in hand.
Her wounds were minor, but the fear in her wide eyes told him everything. “You’re going to be okay,” he reassured her gently. “We’ll take you to the hospital soon.”
She clutched his sleeve, her voice trembling. “Please save my brother. He was hugging me when the bus fell.” She's crying, and her words hit him hard in the gut. She was just a child.
Kang-hyuk told her that he and the other doctors and the SAR team would do their best to find her brother.
After getting her to a safer area, he turned back to the wreckage, quickly sorting through the injured. When he found the little girl’s brother, his condition was serious—a stab wound, likely from debris.
He told Jae-won to go into the ambulance with a stab wound– the little girl's brother.
Meanwhile, Kang-hyuk moved toward the bridge, scanning the wreckage. Then, his breath caught.
A car. One that looked exactly like yours.
His pulse pounded as he approached. The other patients had already been treated, but no one had checked inside the vehicle. He yanked the door open.
“Doctor Ji,” His breath hitched, “There's another person here!” The rescue team quickly ran to him, bringing the scoop stretcher.
Kang-hyuk tells them to bring you to the chopper, trying to keep his voice steady.
“What?”
“Bring her to the chopper!” They bring your unconscious body to the chopper, while An Jung-heon also helps by opening the door and standing by inside so they can get you in faster.
They worked quickly, with An Jung-heon helping to secure you inside. Kang-hyuk’s heart slammed against his ribs. Your condition was worsening.
By the time the helicopter reached the hospital, he was praying— praying that he’d be able to save you in time.
[⋆✴︎˚。⋆]
The helicopter finally landed, and all of them rushed to get you inside the OR. The nurse looked surprised when they first saw you laying weakly on the scoop stretcher.
When they finally made it to the OR, Kang-hyuk told them to call for Jae-won, Jang-mi, and Gyeong-won– luckily, they had already finished their operation.
Kang-hyuk goes outside the room to wash his hands, and Jae-won gets inside with Jang-mi and Gyeong-won to go to their position.
In the OR, chaos reigned.
“Heart rate dropping— it’s too low!” Gyeong-won shouted.
Kang-hyuk rushed to get inside, murmuring your name while wearing his gown hurriedly, hoping that you would hold on for a little longer.
Jae-won’s heart pounded. “She’s in cardiac arrest! Starting CPR!” He climbed onto the bed, pumping your chest. “Stay with us, Doctor Ji.”
“V-fib, get down” Kang-hyuk goes to your side, holding both of the paddles on his hands, putting it on your chest.
“Charge to 200 joules”
“Clear!”
“Shot!” Your body jerked from the defibrillator shock. No response.
“Charge again! 200 joules”
And finally, your heart condition came back to normal, “Give me the heart USG” Jang-mi help Kang-hyuk by bringing the machine close to him, “Patient having a heart rupture, we need to operate her quickly”
“We'll start the operation now. Mess.” Kang-hyuk's hand skillfully cut through your skin using the mess, “suction”
After a while, your heart starts to squirt blood to the outside of the heart, making Kang-hyuk hold your heart in his hand– literally.
“Anus, hold her heart tightly” Jae-won looked surprised, and he stuttered “With hand?”
“Hurry!” Kang-hyuk then asks Jang-mi to give him a surgical glove, who quickly complies with his order.
After he cuts it to match with the rupture, he puts it on the rupture and starts to stich the piece he takes from the glove.
“With this, the patient will hold for 10 minutes at best, so now we're doing reinforcement. Everybody, focus” Everyone in the OR stays still for a while.
“Sutures”
Kang-hyuk carefully resected a piece of the pericardium, placing it over the rupture and stitching it into place while ordering Jae-won to do the same.
“Gangster, take an endoscope” Jang-mi raised her eyebrows, “it's on the old building” she sighs.
“I'll give you 5 minutes, run!” She then ran out of the OR to get the endoscope.
4 hours has passed, they finally done with the last operation for today, and the operation finally came to success. Your bed was transferred to the VIP room.
[⋆✴︎˚。⋆]
“All four trauma patients from the Seongsu Bridge accident have successfully undergone surgery.” Kang-hyuk declared to the reporter with Jae-won beside him.
The reporters murmured something, “Isn't it just three patients? Who is the fourth?” One of them asked.
Both of them sigh before answering the question, “One of our own trauma doctor is having a time off, and unfortunately she's on the accident, she's having a heart rupture and the operation just finished a few minutes ago”
A frenzy of questions erupted.
Kang-hyuk mentions some people that had help him, like Jang-mi, Gyeong-won, and Doctor Han.
"There are many others working tirelessly behind the scenes who deserve recognition for their efforts in helping patients affected by this accident. We hope the trauma center becomes a vital lifeline for those in need and that it receives additional support for medical advancements and technical resources."
[⋆✴︎˚。⋆]
Why would Baek Kang-hyuk care deeply about you? That's also a question Kang-hyuk tried to avoid sometimes. When he asks that to himself, he can even seem to figure out the answer.
One thing for sure, you've done your way cracking through his heart ever since he first laid eyes on you.
You're practically the sunshine in the gloomy trauma unit room. Your presence can make everyone instantly happy.
Your kind gestures and pretty face make you the definition of beauty inside out.
The first time he sees you, you're doing CPR to one of the trauma patients when the other doesn't seem to move because they are already giving up with the patient's condition.
When he asks you the reason for you to do it, "“I don’t want anyone to suffer the way my mother did. The doctors gave up on her when she still had a chance. When I studied to become a doctor, I realized she could have been saved if they hadn't given up on her."
Your tear prickled in the corner of your eyes, and so he handed you a tissue.
Kang-hyuk swears it's the way you move, the way you talk, the way he can clearly feel the butterflies on his stomach when you are just standing a little too close to him.
The way your eyebrow furrows when you're focusing on something, the way you hold his hand when he didn't get to save a patient while calming words also comes out of your mouth.
All of them make him start to give his piece of his heart little by little to you.
[⋆✴︎˚。⋆]
You can feel the warmth of a person beside you, holding your hands while his head is dropped to the bed.
“Kang-hyuk,” Your voice is weak, small, but at least he can hear your voice again.
His face etched with worries written all over him, He handed you a glass of water which you drink rather fastly “Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?” Even in the state you're in, you can still laugh at him, Kang-hyuk doesn't understand.
“You look cute when you worry about me like that, and no, I'm not hurt anywhere. Thank you” He shook his head, refusing your thanks.
When he really looks at you, you can see the way his eyes are bloodshot, a sign that he's been crying.
“Don't make me worry about you again” His hand goes straight to brush your hair out of your face, and your cheeks flush at his gesture. The tension between both of you is there but not too thick.
Gyeong-won, Jae-won and Jang-mi– who've been wanting to visit you because they heard you have already woken up, suddenly stop their movement.
They can see the tension, curious about what's going to happen next. They didn't know you've been dating him?
“We'll talk about this later, now you need to rest and eat, what do you want to eat?” He gets his phone from his pocket, opening an online food delivery application on his phone.
He then lets you freely choose the restaurant from his phone, occasionally scolding you when you ask for something out of the box.
There was also a lot of laughter filling up the room when both of you found something funny.
That sweet moment, soon being interrupted by the loud thud from the door of your room, all three members of your team look startled by the scene in front of them.
How could you? Their mother, not by blood; the radiant light of everyone– dating the new moody, cocky, grumpy doctor? And sharing a sweet moment in a hospital bed and in front of their own eyes, no less?
When both of you take a look behind Kang-hyuk, the atmosphere becomes awkward, so you just invite them to sit on the sofa with a small voice, embarrassed by the action you just had with the new head of the trauma center.
“…Would you like to sit down?” you offered weakly.
Luckily though, they didn't bring the topic back to the table and just said that they wanted to have lunch there.
[⋆✴︎˚。⋆]
“So, you and Doctor Baek, huh?” Jang-mi has been teasing you for almost a week now.
Your relationship with Baek Kang-hyuk is not a secret anymore, not only Jang-mi teasing you up until now, but Gyeong-won and Jae-won also giving you nods of disappointment when they saw you and Kang-hyuk together.
“Nurse Jang-mi, you better stop now or I'm going to cut your supplies of instant ramyeon for the rest of your life” A smile plastered on your face, not your usual sweet smile, but one that can be described as a threat even when you're not saying anything.
Jang-mi quickly shut her mouth and pretended to look at the computer on her desk.
Kang-hyuk handles the situation differently. He would just glare at them before flashing that infuriatingly smug smirk of his.

Code Red: Unfinished Sutures (Part 1)
Baek Kang-Hyuk x Fem!Reader
"Malak was here, and no one bothered to tell me?"
Y/N exhaled sharply, exhaustion settling deep in her bones as she collapsed onto the worn leather couch. Twelve hours on a plane, and this was the first thing she heard.
Walter, sitting across from her with a whiskey glass in hand, rolled his eyes. "He wasn’t even here for a full day."
"I would’ve flown here the moment you said so."
"That’s exactly why we didn’t say anything." Walter smirked, swirling the amber liquid in his glass before offering her one.
Y/N scoffed, flipping him off. "Tangina mo talaga, gago." (Fuck you, asshole.)
Walter chuckled. "I thought we agreed you’d stop using Tagalog since I don’t understand a word of it."
She stretched, her muscles aching. "You let Malak speak in Korean. How is that fair? You’re fucking xenophobic."
He raised an eyebrow. "You studied Korean for Malak."
Silence. She clicked her tongue in irritation and pushed herself up from the couch.
"You know where to find him. What’s stopping you?"
Y/N’s steps faltered. She could feel his gaze piercing her back, waiting.
Without turning around, she murmured, "He also knows where to find me. What’s stopping him?"
Walter sighed as she walked away. "It’s so damn difficult when two idiots are in love."
—
"Dr. Baek!"
Yang Jae-Won practically kicked the door open to the on-call room. Baek Kang-Hyuk groaned, throwing a towel at him without opening his eyes.
"Shibal. What do you need?"
Jae-Won caught the towel, unimpressed. "Dr. Baek, don’t you think it’s a little too late to be sleeping?"
Before Baek could respond, the door swung open again. Minister Kang, the Prime Minister of Health, strode in.
Baek sighed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Minister Kang, can’t say I’m honored to see you."
"I am. Get ready—you’re flying to Syria."
Baek blinked, his drowsiness vanishing. "Pardon?"
Minister Kang handed him a folder filled with medical reports. "The Minister of Syria has requested our medical assistance. The war zone hospitals are overwhelmed. You think your team can handle it?"
Baek flipped through the reports, his smirk returning. "You don’t believe in us?"
She sighed. "Plane leaves in two hours."
As soon as she walked out, Baek turned to Jae-Won. "You little shit. You knew she was coming, didn’t you?" He grabbed Jae-Won by the ear.
"Ah! Dr. Baek, that hurts!"
“It’s supposed to."
Baek threw his phone at him. "Call Gangster and Dr. Park. We’re moving."
—
The moment their plane touched down, the reality of their mission hit them. Bombed-out buildings, the acrid stench of burning metal, and the distant sound of gunfire painted a grim picture.
"Dr. Baek, what exactly are we doing here?" Nurse Jang-Mi asked as they unloaded supplies.
"Three-day mission. The main hospital was bombed, and the syndicate is kidnapping doctors. We help with everything we can. Understood?"
A chorus of determined "Yes, doctor!" followed.
As Baek stepped out of the transport, a local doctor rushed to meet them.
"Dr. Baek! Welcome to Sy—"
"What’s the status of the patients?" Baek cut in.
The doctor hesitated. "There’s no need to rush, Dr. Baek. A volunteer doctor arrived last night to assist us."
Baek narrowed his eyes. "Who?"
The doctor hesitated before answering.
“Dr. Y/N L/N."
Baek froze.
Jae-Won glanced at him. "Uh… who?"
Baek exhaled, shaking his head. "Malaika."
—
"Patient is a 27-year-old male, GSW to the abdomen. Entry wound at the left upper quadrant, no exit wound. We need to locate the bullet and assess for vascular damage. Suction." Y/N’s voice was unwavering, commanding the room with an effortless authority.
“Suction ready, Dr. Malaika," the nurse confirmed.
Blood cleared from the field, revealing a torn artery.
“BP is dropping. Systolic at 85. Possible major vessel injury," the anesthesiologist warned.
Y/N nodded. "Retractor. I’m clamping the artery. Prepare a 5-0 Prolene for a running suture."
As she worked, the team moved in perfect synchronization.
“BP stabilizing at 98," the nurse reported.
Y/N exhaled. "Irrigate and close."
She stepped back, rolling her stiff shoulders.
"That’s six down, two more to go," she murmured, reaching for her eyedrops. Forty hours without sleep, and she was still standing.
"Dr. Malaika," a nurse hesitated. "The last two patients were taken care of."
Y/N frowned. "What do you mean?"
The nurse hesitated before answering.
“Malak is here."
—
The steady beeping of the monitors filled the room, punctuated only by the sound of gloved hands shifting instruments. The air felt thick as Y/N stepped into the OR, her gaze immediately locking onto the man hunched over the operating table.
“Still stealing my patients, huh, Malak?" Her voice was sharp, edged with something unreadable.
Baek Kang-Hyuk looked up upon hearing a very familiar voice. "It’s nice to see you too, Malaika."
Yang Jae-Won blinked, momentarily frozen. He had worked with Baek long enough to know the man’s habits. He never—never—looked up from an operation unless it was life or death. And yet, he had glanced at her.
The tension rippled through the room, silent but palpable.
Baek finally straightened slightly, his eyes flicking to her for a fraction of a second. "Scrub in and assist me."
Y/N let out a breathy laugh, shaking her head. "Still acting like you own the world."
"Just this OR," he shot back, before returning to his patient.
She held his gaze for a beat longer than necessary, then turned to the nurse. "Get me prepped."
The moment she stepped up to the table, their movements synced like clockwork—years of experience, familiarity, and unspoken communication woven into every action.
Baek turned to Jae-Won. "Number One, help us search for the bullet in the intestine."
Jae-Won hesitated for the briefest second before shifting his gaze between them.
“You sure it's in the small intestine?"Y/N interjected before Jae-Won could react, her tone laced with challenge.
Baek didn’t flinch. "If it’s not, we’re wasting time."
Y/N smirked under her mask. "And here I thought you liked wasting my time."
Baek let out a quiet exhale. "Scalpel."
The room fell into a tense silence, all eyes on them as they worked.
Jang-Mi leaned toward Gyeong-Won. "Who is she?" she whispered.
“No idea, but Dr. Baek is actually acknowledging someone’s presence, so she must be important."
They refocused as Y/N carefully maneuvered around the loops of the small intestine, her gloved hands moving with precision.
“Suction," she ordered.
The nurse complied immediately.
Baek’s voice was low, almost thoughtful. "Still over-relying on suction, I see."
"And you still waste time cutting where you shouldn’t," she retorted smoothly, not missing a beat.
The corner of his mouth twitched, but his focus never wavered.
Y/N shifted, her brows furrowing. "There." Her fingers gently palpated the intestinal loops.
Baek leaned in, eyes narrowing. "Clamp."
The nurse passed it to him. Y/N adjusted her grip, exposing a small, jagged tear in the bowel.
"Through-and-through perforation," she murmured. "Bullet must be embedded in the mesentery."
Baek nodded. "Sponge. Hold this position."
She did. Their hands brushed for a second. Just a second. But the contact sent something sharp skittering through the air between them.
Neither reacted. Neither acknowledged it.
"I need better exposure," he muttered.
Y/N rolled her eyes. "You’re impossible." Without hesitation, she adjusted the retractor herself, shifting just enough to widen the surgical field.
Baek exhaled, his voice lower this time. "Better."
Y/N smirked. "You’re welcome."
Silence again. Charged. Intense. The tension wasn’t just professional—it was something older, deeper, unspoken.
The monitors beeped steadily as the two continued their intricate dance, hands moving in perfect synchronization.
Finally, Baek made a precise incision. "Got it."
The bullet was extracted, coated in blood.
"Vascular injury is minimal," Y/N noted. "We can close with a few simple sutures."
Baek nodded, passing the bullet off to the nurse. His voice was quieter now, almost reflective.
"You’re still quick."
"You’re still reckless."
"And yet, the patient’s alive."
"Spare me the self-congratulations, Malak." She sighed, pulling off her gloves. "Let’s close."
Baek studied her for a second longer than necessary. "Fine. You do it."
She arched a brow. "Oh? Delegating? Who are you, and what have you done with Baek Kang-Hyuk?"
He let out a quiet chuckle, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Just finish up, Malaika."
Y/N rolled her shoulders, then got to work, her fingers moving with trained efficiency. The room remained silent, but the weight between them lingered.
A story untold. A history unresolved.
As the final suture was placed, Baek finally spoke again.
"You’re still here."
Y/N glanced up. "And you’re still following me."
Baek didn’t answer. Instead, he stepped back, stripping off his gloves.
Jang-Mi and Gyeong-Won exchanged another wide-eyed glance.
Jae-Won exhaled. "Okay, I’m officially terrified. Who is she?"
Baek didn’t respond. Neither did Y/N. But as she turned away, she could still feel his gaze on her back.
And she refused to turn around.

War-Torn Love - Baek Kang-Hyuk x Fem!Reader

Please note this storyline will deal with issues of PTSD, and negative body image issues.
Synopsis: Two years ago, Dr Baek Kang-Hyuk saved your life. Separated by war, you've searched for each other since that fateful day. But the war changed you, physically and mentally, and you're no longer sure you're good enough for the man you fell in love with.
A/N: I binged four episodes of The Trauma Code last night am I am OBSESSED!!! Give it a watch on Netflix, it's so, so good.
Some nights, the pain still kept you awake. The searing, burning, tearing agony that ripped its way from your left hip, down across your thigh to the top of your kneecap. The scar was ugly and red, a twisted, knotted mass of tissue that ached when you were too cold, burned when you were too hot, and stretched your skin to almost breaking point every single day. You never wore skirts or dresses anymore, too ashamed and embarrassed for anyone to see the disfigured flesh. You hadn’t had a boyfriend, or even a date in two years. No one would want to be with someone as mangled and broken as you. Some days the stiffness in your leg was so bad that you limped, your figure hunched over like a frail pensioner. You didn’t feel like you anymore. When you looked in the mirror, you saw a woman in the prime of her life, but you felt well past your best.
Even if you did have the courage to date, no one would ever live up to your expectations. You’d had those met and exceeded by the man who had saved your life. You were still walking the earth thanks to one man who had so selflessly put his life on the line to save yours. Two years ago, tired of the mundanity of the everyday and looking to give something back, you decided to volunteer with a small charity, providing assistance to countries ravaged by war. It was your job to help distribute food, clothing and sleeping bags to families escaping conflict. You’d been based in Afghanistan, and that was where you’d met Dr Baek Kang-Hyuk. The man was unstoppable, a force of nature that not even God himself could bring down. He never seemed to stop, never seem to tire. He’d helped countless people, working round the clock to save the lives of men, women, and children.
You’d worked together for six months, a friendship blossoming somewhere between the derelict buildings and war-torn agony. He was quite a reserved man, but during the long, lonely nights, you’d sit and talk while he kept an eye on his patients. You learned he was originally from Seoul, that he’d trained to be a trauma surgeon because he wanted to be just like his dad. He’d spent time in the army and could hit a target point blank with his eyes closed. He was kind, if a little cocky, and he made you feel safe. Somewhere along the line, you felt your friendship change. It was small at first, a little crackle of electricity in the dark night, barely noticeable, but then it slowly burned into something more. Stolen kisses in the corridor of the makeshift hospital, a comforting hug when the world seem a little too heavy. You never took it further than that; you couldn’t afford to be away from the patients for long enough, but you both longed to spend the night together.
You only had a week left of your volunteer work when disaster struck. You’d been heading back to the hospital with a supply of food and water when the car bomb went off only meters from where you stood. You were thrown backwards, your body ravaged by shrapnel and rubble. You don’t remember much about that day; you only remember it was the last time you saw Kang-Hyuk’s face. It had been him who had saved you, him who had stopped the massive arterial bleed, who had given you his own blood in an emergency transfusion on the side of the road. You’d been airlifted to safety shortly after, and that was the last time you saw him.
You had no other information on your saviour, other than his name and the fact he lived in Seoul. He had no social media presence, no Internet presence at all. Once you were out of hospital, you searched desperately for him, phoning all your charity contacts to see if anyone could find him. But you had no luck. You were even desperate enough to travel to Seoul to see if you could find him. For two years you never gave up, setting down roots in the city he called home. You didn’t even know if still lived here, didn’t even know if he was still alive. But you couldn’t give up, not when he’d fought so hard to keep you alive.
You’d taken a job at Hankuk University Hospital in the administration department, slowly building yourself a life, but never really allowing yourself to fully live it. you felt empty without Kang-Hyuk, felt so lost and alone. Those six months you’d spent with him had been the best months of your life, and he’d been ripped away from you so callously.
But fate was a funny thing; and she knew you’d you waited long enough. A new attending trauma surgeon was due to start at the hospital. You weren’t privy to any more information, you administration position making you one of the lowest in the hospital ranks. But as you strolled through the corridors, your left leg dragging ever so slightly behind your right, you saw him. He’d bulked up a little more, his broad chest and shoulders filling out his designer suit. He strode through the hospital with such purpose, his very presence commanding authority. He always had been a cocky bastard, but in the best way possible. He didn’t notice you as he walked, too focused on getting to his destination. But you’d waited so long to see him, and you couldn’t let him slip through your fingers again.
“Baek Kang-Hyuk!” You shouted his name, passersby stopping to stare at you. He turned, a look of annoyance on his chiselled features. But then he saw you, the girl he’d given his own blood to in order to save. The girl he’d spent the last two years trying to find was standing right in front of him. “It’s you,” he choked, closing the gap between you. You didn’t care if people were watching, tears streaming down your face as Kang-Hyuk pulled you into his chest. “I can’t believe it,” he whispered, holding your face between his hands as he took you in. You’d changed since he’d last seen you, the stress and anxiety that had plagued you since that awful day had made their mark on your face, but you were still so beautiful. “I looked for you,” you told him, “I never stopped.” “Neither did I,” he smiled. He wanted to kiss you, wanted to wrap his arms around you and never let go.
“Dr Baek to trauma bay 12,” a voice over the intercom broke through your happy reunion, tearing you apart once again. “Take my number,” he said, thrusting his business card into your hand. “Text me. I can’t lose you again.”
As he hurried down the corridor to the next emergency that awaited him, you looked down at his card. You weren’t the same person you’d been two years ago. You’d change, and not for the better. You were bitter, scared of your own shadow, and ashamed of the body that had been wrecked by the car bomb. You wondered if he’d still want you when he realised your scars hadn’t healed. You wondered if he’d want you when he found out you still woke up at night screaming, your body and sheets soaked in sweat as you relived your fractured memories.
You wrote and rewrote your text to him a dozen times that day, your head and heart battling against one another. Every time you went to press send, the image of your scar-ridden body stopped you. You were damaged goods, and now you’d be working together it was probably best to keep things professional. You didn’t want to risk falling in too deep and getting your heart broken again. I look forward to working with you, Dr Baek. You kept it nice and simple, and wholly professional. Two years you’d been searching for the man you’d fallen in love with. But now that you’d found him again you realised, you’d never stopped to think whether he’d still want you. You were the girl with a broken body and a damaged mind. You’d never seen Kang-Hyuk so much as flinch, but the slightest noise sent you running with your tail between your legs. He was brave, and you were just a scared little mouse.
As much as it broke your heart, you’d keep the man who saved your life at arm’s length and save you both the heartache when you no longer lived up to his expectations.

Oftentimes, as we grow older, we forget the things we are supposed to be dying and living for.
This scene made me realize and pray that if I happen to reach that certain age, I hope I still have with me the sparks, the grit, and above all, the passion to do what I have always dreamt to do.
Oftentimes, as we get older, we tend to become desensitize with what once made our lives worth dying and living for. And I can't really blame the adults because life can really teach us lessons filled with lemons and would sometimes force us bitter pills to swallow.
I guess this is why the heart and dreams we carry as a teenager are really the most passionate ones. Because it was the age where we believe everything is possible and everything is just at an arms length—that we will get there. But as adults, we know that that is not always the case. And sometimes, we just simply learned to live with that.
But I am really hoping that if and when I reach this age, I hope whatever morals I have as an eighteen years old from years ago will still be within me. I hope she never lose her sparks. I hope she never lose that fire within her.
I can only hope.

Collision Course

Baek Kang-hyuk x Reader
Genre: Slow Burn, Mutual Pining, Workplace Romance, Heated Tension
Warnings: Strong language, unresolved tension, intense kissing, workplace teasing, mentions of injuries
Word Count: ~8,500
Synopsis: After months of teasing and unresolved tension, a grueling shift leaves you vulnerable—and Baek Kang-hyuk too close to resist. One reckless challenge shatters the distance between you, igniting a kiss that changes everything. With nosy coworkers watching, there’s no turning back now.
It was a game you had both been playing for months.
The lingering glances. The teasing remarks. The almost-touches that never quite happened.
Baek Kang-hyuk had a way of getting under your skin like no one else. He was arrogant, effortlessly skilled, and far too good at making your heart race at the worst possible moments.
And the worst part?
He knew.
Every time he smirked at you across the trauma center, every time his hand lingered just a second too long on your wrist, every time he leaned in too close just to see you react—he knew.
It was infuriating.
It was intoxicating.
And it was going to break you.
It started with little things. The way he’d brush past you in the hallway, just close enough that your shoulders grazed. The way he always had a comment ready—sharp, teasing, just enough to get a rise out of you.
"You look exhausted," he’d say, smirking as you rolled your eyes. "Try not to pass out on me, yeah?"
"Worried about me, Kang-hyuk?" you’d fire back, arms crossed.
"Hardly," he’d reply, but his eyes told a different story.
Then there were the moments when the teasing softened—when he’d find you after a difficult case, standing in the supply room with your head pressed against the cool metal shelves. When he’d linger just long enough to ask, voice quieter than usual, "You good?"
And it was those moments—the rare glimpses of something unspoken—that made your pulse stutter.
Because it wasn’t just a game, was it?
Not anymore.
The shift had been brutal.
An accident on the freeway had flooded the trauma center with critical patients, and you’d been running on pure adrenaline for hours. There was no time to think, no time to breathe.
It was only after the chaos settled that you realized—
You were bleeding.
A deep gash ran across your arm, likely from a sharp edge on a gurney, and you hadn’t even felt it.
"You’re an idiot."
The voice came from behind you, low and too familiar.
You turned just in time to see Kang-hyuk standing there, arms crossed, his gaze flickering to your arm with something dangerously close to concern.
"It’s nothing," you muttered, brushing it off.
Kang-hyuk’s jaw ticked. His expression darkened in that way that always meant trouble. "Sit down."
"I’m fine."
"Sit. Down."
There was no room for argument in his voice, and for once, you didn’t fight him.
You sank onto the nearest chair as he grabbed the first aid kit, kneeling in front of you.
His fingers were careful as he cleaned the wound, his touch surprisingly gentle. But the problem wasn’t the wound—it was him.
The way his hands felt against your skin. The way his expression softened, just slightly, as he focused. The way his thumb brushed against your wrist, sending a slow, deliberate heat crawling up your spine.
You swallowed hard. "I can do it myself."
Kang-hyuk smirked, but there was something else in his gaze now—something unreadable. "Sure you can."
Neither of you moved.
The tension had been there for months, simmering beneath the surface, but now—right now—it was unbearable.
Your pulse was hammering.
And he knew.
Because of course he did.
"You keep staring," Kang-hyuk murmured, not bothering to look up.
You scoffed. "I am not staring."
He glanced at you then, slow and deliberate, the corner of his mouth curving. "Mm. Sure."
You were going to kill him.
Or kiss him.
Probably both.
And then, just to make it worse, he leaned in—so damn close you could feel his breath against your skin.
"Are you blushing?"
That was it.
That was your breaking point.
"Shut up and kiss me."
The words were out before you could stop them, before you could think.
And for a single second, Kang-hyuk froze.
Then—
His lips crashed against yours.
It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t tentative. It was desperate. Like months of tension had finally snapped, and neither of you could hold back any longer.
His hands slid to your waist, pulling you against him, and you barely had time to gasp before he deepened the kiss. It was dizzying, overwhelming, the way he kissed—like he had been waiting for this just as much as you had.
Your fingers tangled into his hair, and he let out a low sound that sent heat curling in your stomach.
This was dangerous. This was reckless.
And you didn’t care.
Because Baek Kang-hyuk was kissing you like he never wanted to stop, and you were absolutely, completely gone.
You didn’t realize you had an audience.
Not until—
"Oh my god."
You jerked away from Kang-hyuk just in time to see Jang-mi, Gyeong-won, and Jae-won standing in the doorway, looking way too entertained.
Jang-mi beamed. "I KNEW IT!"
Gyeong-won smirked. "Well. That escalated quickly."
Jae-won crossed his arms. "I feel like we should be charging admission."
Your face was burning. "You—how long have you—"
Jang-mi waved a hand. "Long enough."
Kang-hyuk, the asshole, just smirked. "Enjoy the show?"
Jang-mi gave him a thumbs-up. "Ten out of ten. Would watch again."
You groaned, burying your face in your hands. "I hate all of you."
Kang-hyuk chuckled, low and amused. Then he leaned in—voice dropping just enough for only you to hear.
"You didn’t hate it that much."
And damn him—
Because he was right.

Unexpected Visit
Pairing: Kang Hyuk x Reader
Genre: Fluff, slight angst, drama, secret marriage reveal
The ER was chaotic, as always. Kang Hyuk moved with practiced efficiency, barely acknowledging the chatter around him. He had learned to tune out the hospital gossip a long time ago—patients came first, and everything else was just background noise.
Until today.
Today, the background noise became impossible to ignore.
It started with a murmur near the nurse's station, then quickly escalated into hushed whispers and wide-eyed stares. At first, he didn’t pay attention, assuming it was about some VIP patient or an administrative shake-up. But when even the usually composed Dr Yang (Anus) stopped mid-sentence to gawk at something—someone—walking into the ER, he finally looked up.
And his heart stopped.
You.
Walking into his ER, looking completely out of place yet effortlessly composed.
He hadn’t expected you to come. Not here. Not like this.
The secret was out.
You were his wife.
You approached him with a small smile, clearly aware of the attention you were drawing but unbothered by it. He, on the other hand, could already feel the weight of a dozen stares drilling into his back.
“Hey,” you greeted casually, as if you weren’t single-handedly derailing everyone’s perception of him.
“…Hey,” he replied, still processing. “What are you doing here?”
“Visiting my husband,” you said, loud enough for those eavesdropping to hear. And oh, did they hear.
The collective gasps were almost comical. Someone dropped a clipboard. Nurse Jang mi who had just finished suturing a patient, actually turned her head so fast it looked painful. A nurse mouthed, Did she just say husband?!
Kang Hyuk resisted the urge to sigh. He knew exactly how this looked. No one at the hospital knew he was married. He had kept his personal life private, avoiding the inevitable scrutiny that came with being a doctor. Now, his carefully maintained boundary had just been shattered.
You tilted your head, amusement dancing in your eyes. “Did I come at a bad time?”
He ran a hand through his hair, glancing at the nurses who were very obviously not pretending to work anymore. “No. It’s just… unexpected.”
“I thought I’d surprise you.”
“Well, mission accomplished.”
You laughed softly before holding out a neatly packed lunchbox. “I also brought you food. Figured you wouldn’t eat unless someone forced you to.”
His ears turned slightly red. He could hear whispers of She brings him food? and He’s been married this whole time?! in the background. Ignoring them, he exhaled and took the lunchbox from your hands.
“…Thanks.”
“You’re welcome, Dr. Kang.” You winked before stepping back. “I’ll see you at home.”
And just like that, you left, walking out as if you hadn’t just dropped a bombshell on the entire department.
Kang Hyuk sighed, turning back to his stunned colleagues.
“What?” he asked, feigning innocence.
Dr. Yang blinked. “You’re married?!”
“Yeah.”
“For how long?”
“...A while.”
“A while?! And you never told anyone?!”
He shrugged, tucking the lunchbox under his arm. “You never asked.”
Chaos erupted.
