Possibly the funniest effect that House of Leaves has had on the Internet is that now The Most Mysterious Song On The Internet is a top song when you look up doom music on Spotify

The Most Mysterious Song (or Like the Wind, as some call it) is a very good song. Sometimes I get it stuck in my head. Everyone Knows That is also really nice, even though it’s only a small piece of a song. It’s a bit of an earworm as well
I hope mysterious lostwave songs like The Most Mysterious Song/Like the Wind and Everyone Knows That are eventually pinpointed so we all can give some well-deserved appreciation to the artists behind the songs!

Some of my favorite Lostwave Songs - Solved and Unsolved
For those looking for cool obscure music, lostwave is your friend! Don't mind me geeking out about unidentified or previously unidentified music aaa!
Solved -
Making Dedication by First Person - Probably my favorite lostwave song period. Beautiful lyrics. I found it took me a few listens before I really started appreciating it.
Cyan Daze by Chimera - THIS SONG IS ABSOLUTELY SLAMMIN' IT'S SO GOOOOOOD.
L.A. Woman by P.J. Marcus - If I had a nickel for every time I really loved a song called "L.A. Woman", I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
The Livin' and the Dyin' by Jim Dawson - Really beautiful song and an early lostwave solve!
On the Roof by Johan Lindell - The original "most mysterious song on the internet". Absolutely slammin'.
Traveling Minstrel by Richard Torrance - No fish.
Bird On a Wing by Rare Bird - Absolutely bangin' song, lovin' this dude's voice.
Common Hound by The Blind Venetians - Another early lostwave solve and absolutely awesome song.
Early in the Morning (Demo Version) by Excalibur - Much better than the final version imo. This song makes me feel like a 80s wizard shooting lightning out of his hands, which is extremely high praise if you ask me.
Little Islands by The Gallery - Great song with an emotional story behind its search. I'm so happy it's finally solved.
Ready n' Steady by D.A. - Not a unidentified song but a lost song! Well, now it's found but you get the idea. Deserved a release imo.
George Sand by Antonia and the Operators - Bangin' song. I wish there was more by this band they're so good honestly???
Organ by Jon Lord - This was solved in like 10 seconds but still worth putting on here. I love a good neo-classical piece.
Unsolved -
"The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet" - You know I had to put this here.
"Fond My Mind" - Another classic lostwave song. They gotta solve this and TMMS eventually right? RIGHT???
"Wait Forever" - Very ethereal sounding. I really love this one. It's possibly by a German band called the In Tensions or the Intentions but there's no record of them anywhere online?
"Deluded" - Probably one of my favorites. This song SLAPS. The vocalist's performance is delightfully unhinged.
"Baby It's Not Too Late" - Song from an... *ahem* adult film, that's absolutely slammin'. A lot of vintage porn has great music for some reason??? Unfortunately this is likely unsolvable.
"I'm Almost In Love" - Another vintage porn song. This song has an absolutely awesome saxophone and keyboard part??? Also I have no idea why Barni used a picture of some pandas but I'm not complaining. Unfortunately this may be unsolvable.
"Losing My Patience" - Possibly from a porn film??? It's got that energy. I love the guitar solo here.
"Fly Away" - Another famous lostwave, this time from Japan! Despite the slightly unnerving tone, the lyrics are quite mundane???
"Light the Lanterns" - Sometimes called "The Third Most Mysterious Song on the Internet". I love the surreal lyrics.
"Writing from the Train" - Underrated lostwave song. Switches between two different languages for some reason???
"One More Chance" - I really like this one because I feel it has vintage anime vibes for some reason???
"Cat Swimming Guitar Solo" - Awesome guitar solo and Barni put a picture of a cat swimming for some reason, so exactly what it says on the tin!
There's so many more lostwave songs I wanna gush about so I might do a part 2???

The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet (I promise this ties into Doctor Who)
So there’s this song called “The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet”.
Except that’s not what it’s called. That’s what we’ve agreed to call it, because we don’t actually know the name.
Long story short [Wikipedia], a guy recorded a German radio broadcast of a song that was probably from 1984, and wanted to find out the song’s name, who wrote it, etc. And the internet came together to try and figure it out... and failed.
Here’s the full version of the song.
And here are the lyrics, or at least, the best transcript of the lyrics we have:
Like the wind You came here runnin’ Take the consequence of living
There’s no space There’s no tomorrow There’s no sent communication
Check it in, check it out Or the sun will never shine Paranoid anyway in the subways of your mind
Like the wind You’re gonna suffer Let a smile be your companion
There’s no place And there’s no sorrow In the young and restless dreamer
(x2) Check it in, check it out Or the sun will never shine Paranoid anyway in the subways of your mind
(x5) Check it in, check it out It’s the summer blues Tear it in, tear it out It’s the real excuse
And who do we know who might write lyrics like that, who might write and play a song of this genre, and would be able to come and go without a trace?

TMMSOTI Ramble
Can I just mention how weirdly unsettling it is to know that we've got a partially lost media that we're trying to find the origin of? Now, I know we found the "origin" of it. Darius S.'s broadcast recording from 1984 on NDR2. But in this case, that's not enough.
Now, I know you might be wondering, "Why's he on about this? What's with the massive topic shift from the post he made on Sunday?" Well, it's because I mentioned TMMSOTI in the image, if you were mad enough to go so far as to look closely at the image (It's the normal orientation of the Gas Station dream, next to the biggest text on that image.), but that's not important.
What is important is that it feels weird to know that this song exists, has existed for close to 40 years now, and no one is even close to figuring out its origins. Granted, the search only started 4 years ago, but still. And the strange thing is, they can't even find NDR's official record of the broadcast!
"Strange." Heh. As if I didn't know that's not nearly the worst case of record-keeping out there. The BBC has a much MUCH worse history of record-keeping, especially from the mid-50s. Most of early Doctor Who's serials are audio only now, and who knows how much of Hartnell and Troughton's acting was lost because of the BBC deciding to wipe without backups. (Side note: those are REALLY British names, even to me, a Brit.)
But back to business. TMMSOTI is undeniably a product of the '80s. From the sound of it, it's unashamedly synth-heavy, as heard in the chorus, but overall, it doesn't feature electronic instruments all that much. It doesn't feel so much like punk, or "post-punk", as Wikipedia describes it, but I'm not a connoisseur of that genre. The only song I've really listened to from it is London Calling by The Clash (who have enough range to also write such songs as Rock the Casbah and Should I Stay or Should I Go), so I'm in no such way describing myself as someone who does, solidly and truly, know what the hell they are talking about.
If there's a solidly defined bassline in there, I sure as hell cannot decipher it. Transcripts I find on Songsterr do not feel solid about the bassline. Literally the only things that feel solid in that song are the guitar and the drums. The guitar feels solid because it's the main driving force, right the way through the whole song. It plays eighth note power chords in the intro and guitar "solo", and arpeggios in the verses.
AS FOR THE DRUMS. HOO BOY. I don't think I've mentioned this here, but I have a minor penchant for the drums (read: done every Beatles song to the best of my ability). I listen to that, I hear someone who's been playing for a while. Every fill has a different pattern. The timekeeping is rock-solid. About as close to metronome as humanly possible.
So, what's so significant about rock-solid drumming? Well, apart from the fact that it's a grand measure of skill, it's also a sign that this isn't just your average garage band (not to be confused with the app of the same name.)
So it's a semi-professional drummer with a skill for keeping time, and a guitarist that knows his way around some chords. The bassline is obscured by the quality, and the synths are generic enough as is. Some theorise it originated from behind the Iron Curtain, but if that's the case, why send it to NDR2, based in Hamburg, instead of the much closer West Berlin?
In my very VERY limited opinion, I think it's much more likely that it's a small West Germany band that got lucky enough to get their demo featured on Musik Für Junge Leute in 1984, where it was then, unceremoniously dumped into the nearest rubbish receptacle. If anything, had it not been for Darius S. taping that night's NDR2 broadcast, we might not have heard this song... ever, in fact. Hell, even he forgot about the tape for that broadcast until digitising them for an archive 20 years later.
I guess that goes to show how remarkably fickle memory is, where no one remembers the song's title or the band's name. Also has the side effect of being fucking creepy when you think about it, because it's quite existential in a way. How, when all's said and done, everyone might forget about us unless we are immortalised in some way. I guess that it helps that the Internet exists now.

Some of my favorite Lostwave Songs - Solved and Unsolved (Part 2)
THAT'S RIGHT BABY IT'S BACK!!! For those who missed part 1, you can check out my lostwave gush-fest here.
Solved -
Found A Place by The Jazz Hipsters - Spooky vibes but very cool. Unfortunately this band hasn't seem to release anything else.
Boogie Home by Billy Workman - I love me some glam rock.
Summer's End by Prince of the Blood - The entire album, Portsmouth, is honestly so good, especially the titular song.
Creepy Crawlies by Bing Hitler with the Chain Gang - Not the best band name, but was a stage name of a Scottish comedian named Craig Ferguson. Picturing Shrek singing while listening to this is highly recommend.
Maniac Laughing by Johnny Cohen - HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA-
Oceans of Time by Al Bowlly - I love me some crunchy old music.
Mental by Tripp7 - This song slaps, it's also one of the few available on Spoofy so go check it out on there!
Weekend by Charlatan - Lovin' that sax. I also recommend En Walki Talki Man.
Take Off by Kigoy - This song sounds like it crawled out of an abandoned subway station and I mean that in the best way possible I love this song. Unfortunately it seems Kigoy only really did two songs, this and this one here that's worth checking out.
At the Lightworks by Ellie Greenwich - Yes, the Ellie Greenwich! I assume this song was solved in like five seconds. Delightfully 60s.
Paragon by NuKeMOuT - This song goes hard, feel free to screenshot.
Magic Summer by Captains - Lovin' that sax (again.) Also I love this lady's voice.
Unsolved -
"Johnny" - I can't see a sail boat without thinking of this song
"Treadmill of Time" - Possibly identified as a song by a band called Memorybank. Everyone says it has Depeche Mode vibes (I think originally it was passed of as an outtake of there's though it obviously isn't) but it gives me more TMBG vibes.
"Friends" - May sound like it's from a kid's show but it's VERY NOT. It's actually from, like, the opposite of that.
"Let's Get Up" - Another song from a porn film. Steals a lot of its lyrics from Dancing on the Ceiling by Lionel Ritchie but is actually better.
"I Was A Fool In Love" - One that's weirdly grown on me over the past few weeks???
"Trip To Rio" - The intro is honestly one of the catchiest things I've ever heard, period. I hope we find the full version soon.
"Poor Christmas" - The lostwave Christmas song, and I love it for that. I'm not at all religious I'm just weird and dig Christmas music.
"CIA" - Sounds like it's from a movie, it's got that cinematic vibe to it.
"Leylo Lo La" - Possibly a cover of a cover...?
"Ai wa Subete" - I love me some Japanese lostwave.
Might do a part 3 or a other songs by lostwave artists and where to support them (obviously the latter can only really apply to people with solved songs).
