Classical music may not be dying quite just yet but I desperately need the world to understand how good the works of the American Romantics is. I have no way of letting people know and it’s killing me

SEGA announces two debut Sonic Symphony World Tour events in London and Los Angeles
Tumblr media
SEGA announced a new Sonic Symphony World Tour series, with tour dates scheduled this September in London, UK and Los Angeles, CA.
It's a follow-up to the the iconic 30th Anniversary presentation in 2021, and last year's Brazil Game Show performance ahead of the release of Sonic Frontiers.
Tumblr media
Tour dates
The London presentation will be held at the Barbican Hall, while Los Angeles will host its presence at the Dolby Theatre. Doors will open at 7:00 pm local time, and the show will begin an hour later.
16 September 2023 at the Barbican Hall in London, UK.
30 September 2023 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
Ticket sales for each event begin 26 May 2023 at 10:00 am local time, and newsletter subscribers can grab pre-sale tickets on 25 May.
What to expect
Expect an immersive "musical journey through the colorful world of Sonic the Hedgehog," with "classic 8-bit and 16-bit tunes to rock and EDM songs."
Relive your favorite Sonic moments, brought to life by a full symphony orchestra. Sonic Symphony will be an electrifying tribute to the music that has defined generations of gamers, old and new.
Tumblr media
Why "two cities" for a world tour?
The company characterized the two events as "debut performances", though it was reassured that more events are expected to appear in 2024.
Meanwhile, a mailing list on the official website invited people to "find out when [the Tour] is coming near you."
While it isn't clear if Sonic Symphony will be coming to other countries, this is certainly something Sonic fans will want to keep their eyes very open.

If you know me, you know how much I love Dvořák's New World Symphony. Easily one of my favorite pieces of music of all time. The fact that I'm learning an excerpt of it--even simplified--is absolutely mind-blowing. I'm so happy!

When Elio was young, he was an angry crier. His mother would tell him that it's just how his emotions escape; she was the same. She would sit him down, and wait as he sniffled and sobbed and whined out his woes. Then, she would wipe away those tears with murmurs of,
ㅤ⠀❝Mio piccolo angelo, hai troppe emozioni per la tua anima.❞
After the destruction of his home island, he stopped crying. He was consumed with anger, with rage; hatred became the main fuel for his fire for years. He has cried seldomly over the following two decades.
The first was after his fight ( crushing defeat ) against Whitebeard. The pain of a blade slicing through his skin, through his bone; of the numb fire that spread through his arm as he stared at the space his hand once occupied, as blood spilled forth and stained the deck and his shirt and oh, God, it HURT, IT HURT, THE PAIN-
The second was his first night with a lover that he no longer speaks aloud of. Betrayal cuts deep, and being the one to betray cuts deeper. But the touches had been gentle, as if he were something made of glass and not scarred flesh and walls built high. As if he were to be treasured- and he had cried while he held him.
The third, and most recent, had been a single tear shed as he plunged the golden edge of his hook through skin, fascia, muscle, just skimming bone, inches away from the most important organ in the body aside from the brain. Poor, sweet bird. But she survived.
He knew she would.

More Dvorak!
this is the main theme from movement 4 written out for lead guitar. this is the same starting point as my previous post, although that analysis covered only the part marked A.
Tumblr media
A is the main theme,
B is the theme, but the root moves to A. (a safe modulation, which usually doesn't force the harmony to change)
C is a variation, which starts the same, but ends abruptly, and is played an octave up. (it functions as a outro/transition)
D is a note I added to make the excerpt resolve.
the theme is centered around the tonic, E (except when its A), and moves up to the third, and then down to the fifth.
this can be viewed as implying a i-v progression, or outlining an i chord, with diatonic passing tones. I think both perspectives are correct.
Note; that the unaccompanied melody Implies a modulation in section B, which gives it a kind of meta chord progression (or key progression). That progression is;
e | e | a | e
i | i | iv | i
which is very similar to harmony chord progression the occurs underneath each section, except that the harmony finished its progression in 8 bars (repeating 4 times), and the melody takes 26 bars (and doesn't repeat).
this kind of self-similar structure is common to many types of music, and works very well.

Give me music
to make me forget how to breathe
to shatter me
to build me again from shards and colours,
lifts and falls, notes and sighs
Music to spin my heart in motion
in time with trembling strings
bleeding out melodies
Give me music to destroy me
then birth me anew
with the death of symphony
