im back and ive improved a lot, so heres a new event for 400 like i promised, even though my other one (join here) isnt finished. This event is based off of, well, WOO!AH!'s BLUSH, their most recent cb!

RULES

Do you like seeing cubitos hurt in a variety of ways, and then comforted afterwards? Do you sometimes go "man I wish I had an incredibly long list of ways to hurt and then comfort my guys"? Do you like working to a prompt someone gave you? Do deadlines comfortably far off in May fill you with a sense of security and peace?

CAN I INTEREST YOU IN THE HURT/COMFORT EXCHANGE?

The exchange is a big multi-fandom exchange, so as with other exchanges, you sign up with your list of Requests (things you'd like as a gift), and Offers (things you're willing to make as a gift), Ao3 runs a big machine that matches you, and then you will have six weeks to work on your gift before the deadline. It's a freeform exchange, so in addition to matching on ships (CharacterA & Character B (Character A Hurt) or Character A/Character B (Both Hurt)), you also need to have signed up and said that what you want for the gift is "Arranged Marriage - friends try to comfort anxious newlywed". Or "Character A Takes A Blow Meant For Character B". Or "Character who is afraid of vulnerability cries during sex". Or "Estranged Characters - Injured A shows Up on B's doorstep Saying "I didn't know where else to go"". I could go ON. There are probably thousands of freeform tags and honestly sometimes I browse them for inspiration.

We are currently in the nominations phase, which is when everybody submits the ships and freeforms they want to see in the tagset, because once Nominations are over, you will only be able to sign up with the ships and freeforms (basically little prompts) that people have already submitted to the tagset.

Introducing Outlast Trials Early Access Anniversary Collaboration Event !

This event will focus on Reagents and Murkoff Members drawn by multiple artists !

How does the event works ?

You will draw the characters you have picked Prime Assets, Ex-pops, Reagents, Denizens), coloured with minimum bust-up (Half-body and Full body is welcomed). The characters will have party theme and accesories, such as cake, party hat, confetti, party horn, etc.

The canon characters choice are based from "first come first serve". One canon character (PA, Ex-pops, Denizens) can only be drawn by one artist. it is recommended to have a second option for another canon characters to draw.

You are allowed to draw both Reagents and one canon character you have picked. You can also draw Reagents only.

There's no limit on how many Reagents you can submit, you are allowed to put as many as reagents of yours in the event.

OCs are only allowed for Reagents.

Once it has finished, you can submit the transparent image in the ⁠event-submission via image or link. As for traditional art, please make sure the art has white background.

After all finished, i will compile all the drawings into one image.

Then i will post it on Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr. So please provide your social media account for me to tag you as credit.

OTW Elections 2023: Become a Member!

Thank you for your interest in participating in our annual election! As you might already know, the Organization for Transformative Works holds yearly elections every August to appoint new directors to its Board. If you’re interested in supporting your favorite candidates and their causes, you can become eligible to vote by becoming a member of the OTW. The process to become eligible to vote is straightforward, but there are time limitations – read on to learn more about how to become a member of the OTW. 

We welcome everyone to join the OTW as a member and vote in our elections. The membership fee amounts to US$10 and must be paid in a single donation. Members who pay the membership fee by June 30 are eligible to vote in August of the same year. Please note that volunteering for the OTW does not make you eligible to vote; you must be a paid member.

Please remember your donation is processed in the US Eastern time zone. Your donation must be registered by June 30, 7:59 PM (19:59) Eastern time for you to be eligible to vote in the next election – if the receipt shows a date and time later than this, you are not eligible to vote that year (though you will be able to vote next year!). Don’t forget to check out our Timeline for more important dates!

[Event] Writeblr Secret Admirer 2023

THE EVENT

Welcome to the FIFTH annual Writeblr Secret Admirer event!!

Let’s spread some love and positivity on Valentine’s Day! This is an event where we are going to send and receive some secret admirer messages to people’s ask boxes.

By signing up, you are agreeing to send someone a really nice and loving ask on February 14th, 2023.

I, Undine (@pens-swords-stuff​) will be assigning you a person to send a secret admirer message to via asks.

I will also be assigning someone to send YOU a secret admirer message, so you’ll have something to look forward to on Valentine’s Day.

There is no particular criteria about what you have to send, as long as it’s kind and positive. It doesn’t have to be romantic or anything, just send them something nice! Some potential ideas include: sending them compliments; telling them that they’re amazing and loved; comment something you love about their blog; send them a sweet Valentine’s day poem, the options are endless and the only limit is your creativity.

Signups for the Fourth Annual Jaime x Brienne Fic Exchange 2023 are now open! 

What is the Jaime x Brienne Fic Exchange?

For the past few years, we’ve been running a mid-year (or thereabouts) exchange for all JB writers. Interested writers sign up via the above form, and are assigned prompts from another participant. They must then write one completed fic of at least 1000 words incorporating one (or more, if inspiration strikes!) of these prompts. Fics are then posted, anonymously, between August 21st and September 4th, before identities are revealed on September 12th! 

By the end of the exchange, a participant will have written one fic and received one fic. There is no upper limit on the length of the fic you can write, however it must be completed and fully posted by September 4th.

Is there a requirement to join?

You must have an AO3 account and be willing to write a complete story of at least 1000 words before the due date. It doesn’t matter if you’re an old pro or it’s your first time writing a fic for the fandom, or even your first time writing a fic ever. 

The only other requirement is that if you participated in the past and did not complete a fic or inform us before the no fault default date, you must complete a Little Oathkeeper of at least 1000 words before participating this year. (Unsure whether this applies to you? Please reach out and I’ll check!)

How does matching work?

We use Google Forms to try to ensure everyone gets prompts within their expressed interests. When you sign up, you will answer some questions about both your reading and writing preferences–ratings, canons, squicks and triggers–as well as supply three prompts. The organisers will then match you with someone whose preferences and prompts align with yours on as many points as possible, while keeping an element of randomisation. If you’re interested in reading E-rated book canon, we won’t assign your prompts to someone only interested in writing T-rated modern AU! 

What are prompts?

Prompts can be anything really! Maybe it’s your favourite trope, or a song that makes you think of Jaime and Brienne. Maybe there’s a piece of fanart that makes your heart go pitter-patter, or a fic premise you would love to see. All forms of prompts are welcome, though we ask you to keep in mind that they are meant to be a jumping off point for your writer and anything too sparse or too detailed might be difficult. A good rule of thumb is to provide prompts that would get your own mind whirling with possibilities! 

What are the key dates?

Signups are open from TODAY until MAY 28TH, 23:59 UTC. (What time is that for me?)

Assignments will be sent out by JUNE 5TH, and completed fics must be posted by SEPTEMBER 4TH. This is a later writing window than previous years due to some real life commitments.

Consequence-free dropout deadline is AUGUST 14TH. Any writers who dropout after this date or have incomplete fics at the end of the posting window will need to write a bonus gift before participating in future exchanges.

Fics are to be anonymously posted in the Ao3 collection between AUGUST 21ST and SEPTEMBER 4TH, and authors will be revealed SEPTEMBER 12TH. 

Fic posting guidelines will be published closer to the due date.

Are you doing Knight Writers again?

Of course! Life happens and you may not be able to complete a fic on time, and that’s okay! Knight writers are wonderful volunteers who will step in and write a fic when people are unable to complete their assignment. This year knight write requests will go out via email and the Transformatives Werks Discord, and you don’t need to be an exchange participant to join–just keep your eyes peeled on Discord, or shoot me an email as jbficexchange@gmail.com to be added to the mailing list for Knight Write requests.

You often talk about budget in your answers, so I was curious about something. Is it possible for the company to run out of budget before devs could complete the game as they initially planned, so that they have to wrap up all the pending storylines as best as they can even if incomplete? Talking specifically about massive story driven games with a lot of important characters having long storylines such as The Witcher 3, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the Mass Effect series, etc.

It has certainly happened in the past, though not necessarily specifically the narrative part of the game. Many games are pushed to launch without development being as far as they want it to be due to reasons like hitting their budgetary limit and needing to recoup some of the investment. Our estimates are only estimates after all, sometimes we run into unforeseen problems and things take longer than expected. We can't stop paying the developers when we hit snags like that, so certain features end up more costly than others, which eats into the budget that was earmarked for other stuff instead. Most games in this situation have a lot of other launch issues too for the same reason - when you're pushed out the door to make the deadline due to running out of budget, things that should have been fixed are often not.

When World of Warcraft launched in 2004, there were several entire world zones that were incomplete and (mostly) locked off from players. Some players were able to sneak in through various exploits and take screenshots of those areas. Most notable were that the zones were primarily unpopulated by anything - no mobs, no quests, empty towns and buildings, just environment geometry that had been built out. This accompanied other incomplete bits of the game like quests that still had XML code in them. It would take years before players would finally see the incomplete-at-launch zones in some form or other.

Cyberpunk 2077 famously launched after multiple delays with numerous bugs and weird issues. Notably, the dev team also completely cut the multiplayer mode of the game that they had been building in order to consolidate resources to ship the single player game. The game came in super hot and had a huge number of launch issues that were eventually (mostly) ironed out, but the multiplayer mode was never resurrected.

The most famous example of this is probably Knights of the Old Republic 2. The publisher famously moved the deadline up and Obsidian scrapped the in-development ending since they didn't have the time to finish it. Instead, the story was wrapped up super quickly to ship the game. Notably, the partially-finished original ending was left on the disc and modders eventually discovered (and later restored) it.

We're thrilled with how many people have expressed interest in this already and are gearing up for an amazing event!

Here's a quick round up of some of the questions we've gotten so far....

Does it have to be a new fic or can you participate with an existing fic / new chapter of an old fic?

Must be a new fic written specifically for the bang.

Can it be an AU?

AUs are completely welcome. So long as the focus is on the SPOP characters, you can put them in whatever situations you wish!

Can it be a crossover?

While characters from other properties can cameo, the main focus of the story should be on the SPOP characters.

Can you post something from an existing AU of yours?

A new standalone fic in an existing AU of yours is fine! In other words, if someone could hop into your Bang fic without having read anything else of your AU and still follow it, that would work.

Can I write my own fic, but also sign up to illustrate someone else's?

Sure! Just let us know on your sign up form so we know what is going on.

What kind of draft is due on March 31st?

The objective of that check in is to show to the mods that your fic is close enough to finished that you are on track to post it on time. There may still be typos, it might still need a lot of editing, but it should be at least 75% complete.

This step is to ensure we're assigning artists to the fics that are nearly ready for the event and not giving someone a writing partner that has barely started.

What happens if I don't get my draft in on time?

While only writers who get their first draft in by the March 31st deadline are eligible for an artist partner, writers who complete their draft after that are still welcome to post their fic as part of the event and will still be listed alongside the other content. They just will not have the chance to be paired with an artist.

Are there any limitations on what fics can be about? i.e. does it have to center around certain ships or characters or prompts?

As long as the focus is on the SPOP characters, anything goes! The only thing to keep in mind is that artists get to choose with fics they illustrate. So the more appealing or interesting to draw your idea is, the more likely you are to attract an amazing artist.

Any restrictions on mature content?

Generally, it's open to whatever, but, for the comfort of everyone involved, we'd appreciate if it was nothing too... let's say controversial. If you're not sure, feel free to ask. Keep in mind, the previous answer about artists getting to choose applies here too.

Will you be sharing the Big Bang content on this Tumblr blog?

Yes! We plan to share links to all the fics as they are posted.

Can I participate without joining the Discord?

Unfortunately, no. This event is hosted by the SPOP Creative Flex and as such is run under the guidelines of that community. While Tippen is the head mod of this event, she is not on the mod team for the server itself so if you have questions or issues about the SPOP Creative Flex server specifically (including appealing a prior ban or other issue), you can contact the server mods through the email listed here.

What should I write? I can't pick!

That, I can't help you with. But I would say pick the idea that is begging to be written, particularly if it's large scale and exciting. It is called a BIG Bang after all! Think epically!
