I'm a cop. I was standing this close to the guy. Okay? Right across from him, and I never saw him coming. But she did, though. She- Some part of her didn't feel right about this whole thing. She hesitated. And I-I pushed her right at him.
| ANATOMY OF A SCENE - CHENFORD EDITION 2.11 - Day of Death
This is such a small scene, easily overshadowed in an episode that is filled with so many great moments… But I love how it provides some insight into Tim's state of mind. He's usually so good at compartmentalising his feelings and emotions to focus on the job… unless it gets too personal, like with Isabel. Or here, when they realise that Lucy has been kidnapped… The way he's growing more desperate and agitated by the minute… He's feeling powerless and working the tip line is not helping at all. If anything, it frustrates him even more. Tim, at his core, is a man of action and this is particularly evident here, where he's itching to kick something. Anything. A sentiment that is all too reminiscent of the time he punched a wall after Isabel's overdose. He manages to rein it in a bit, but barely, thanks to Angela… She's trying so hard to be present for him, to be the voice of reason, but she's also going through her own issues. She can't hide her worry though. For Lucy, of course. And for Tim… It's hard to believe that seeing him like this wouldn't trigger some memories for her, of how he used to be after Isabel's disappearance. But most of all : she knows him. She knows he called her for more than just looking for Lucy, that something is weighing on his mind and that he needs to unburden himself.
The guilt he's feeling is so palpable, so tangible when he's remembering and retelling his last moments with Lucy. The cracks in his voice… The tears in his eyes… It's eating at him. The way he's rewriting history too, feels so real and authentic : guilt can make you reinterpret facts, question every little things you've said and done, and this is what he's doing here. He didn't necessarily push her towards Caleb : his advice to go out and have a drink or two with another human being was actually sound. And Lucy wasn't particularly hesitant either : the reason she wanted to go home was because she was exhausted after the day they had, not because she was suspicious. But that doesn't stop him from feeling responsible.
The way his voice breaks a little when he admits he never saw Caleb coming… I think that's the most unforgivable part for him. That he failed her, as a cop, as her TO, and as a friend. He drilled into her the importance of 'cop eyes', that her default mode should be suspicion… Only he didn't see anything that alarmed him (besides not liking the guy and acting a bit jealous). That's why he's beating himself up so hard : in his mind, he should have seen something… he should have prevented all of this… And what hurts him even more is that he firmly believes that he overrode her instincts. The very ones he helped her hone. He spent months testing her, teaching her to trust herself and stop second-guessing herself. To be more confident. That was the whole point of her Plain Clothes Day. That's what makes it worse for him : that she valued his own opinion over hers and that led to her kidnapping. And that's why it will be so important for Lucy to set the record straight later… why he will be so touched that despite everything, his opinion is the one that matters to her the most. That she never blamed him.
And lastly, it says absolutely everything that Tim's behaviour in this episode has been paralleled later by Wesley and Angela, a married couple. Tim went feral and threatened to pull a guy inside out if he didn't give him an information that could lead to Lucy while Wesley promised to have a guy tortured if he harmed Angela… And here, Tim wanted to kick some doors, refusing to just sit there and do nothing, which is pretty much what Angela said to the Feds when Wesley was taken hostage… It was always more than 'just' guilt driving him...

I really hate when a series makes a point of something, only to completely undo it with no build up or development to it. It's just a complete random 180 switch.
They made Abril come across as a really cold and cool threat because she wouldn't let personal things get in the way of her business. Only for them to now announce in Feds that that is exactly what she is doing. So lame. I hate it.

I would like to get a look at Chester's computer after TID is done processing it -- you know, try to get into his head. You think Lopez would let me? Doesn't hurt to ask.
| ANATOMY OF A SCENE - CHENFORD EDITION 4.12 - The Knock
For all his claims that Lucy isn't his partner, the way Tim treats her says otherwise. And it's particularly evident here. I just love whenever the show acknowledges her background as a psych major, but what makes this even better is his response. He has made no secret of his opinion on psychology in the past. He was rather antagonistic towards Jessica Russo when she wanted to use predictive analysis during the manhunt. He expressed several times his skepticism about psychology in Amber - though he did pay attention to what Lucy was saying. And for the most part, it stems from his preference for playing a more proactive role (there might be some other factors that play in as well, with his childhood and the army).
Still, that's what makes his response here so interesting. When Lucy asks him if she could have access to the videos recorded by the suspect in order to get into his head, he immediately agrees to ask Angela, even though that isn't necessarily a part of their job. Better yet : he takes the time to listen to her insights and comes to watch the videos with her. And his behavior here stands in stark contrast with how he acted during the double date : the fact that he could barely make an effort for his girlfriend but doesn't hesitate to accommodate Lucy says it all… There's another hint of how much he values her opinion during the takedown, when he quizzes her on their options and lets her take the lead. In some aspects, it felt like a Tim Test… But there was a genuine curiosity too. And this is so different from the approach he had with Talia, back when they got paired up in Flesh and Blood. To be fair, she was more hostile, feeling like she had to prove herself to one of her former TOs, so it didn't help. But he said it himself : he was still seeing her as his rookie. There's none of that here. And while Tim has grown a lot since then, it is frankly quite specific to Lucy. When he is tasked to help the Feds catch Rosalind's acolyte after her death, he is back to being critical, this time towards profiling.
He may deny it, but he treats Lucy as his de facto partner. Their shorthand is so blatant during this episode, at work or at the restaurant… The way they can have a full conversation with just one look… How their body language mirrors each other's… How they sit so close to one another while watching the videos, despite having the whole room for themselves… The way he moves Lucy by her duty belt outside the morgue, standing extremely close to her… That close quarter situation combined with the dark setting, the lower voices and those looks… So hot. Personal space? Don't know her. They just work so seamlessly together and make each other better… And this episode really brings this point home.

Alright, next question: we’ve done favorite Chenford episodes, but what are your 5 favorite non-Chenford episodes and/or storylines and/or multi-episode arcs?
I sort of answered this one here, but that was specifically about favourite non-Chenford episodes, so I'm going to answer this with a mix of episodes and storylines/arcs.
It's really, really hard for me to separate Chenford from The Rookie, because clearly they're my favourite part (shocking, I know). So there are certainly more I'd love to include in this list, but tried to exclude because while I love every part of them, I love the Chenford parts most of all. (Looking at you Standoff (1x09) and Plain Clothes Day (1x14) and about a dozen more....)
1. The Dark Side (2x10) and Day of Death (2x11) - Sorry not sorry, this is absolutely the top of the list. Yes, lots of Chenford, which we love, but as an overall arc it's phenomenal. Everything from the Lucy/Jackson/Nolan/Armstrong bar night to the Angela/Wesley parts to the perfect creepiness of Rosalind Dyer to (yes, duh) the Chenford of it all. And I'll rave about the acting and the scenery and the sound editing (the song choices, and of course the use of silence) until the end of time, because it's just so, so good. (I'm resisting the urge to add Now and Then (2x12) to this, because while it's still a part of the arc, it leans more heavily on the Chenford side... but I can't leave this without celebrating them continuing the story beyond just the little bubble of those two episodes. It's truly refreshing that they didn't gloss over Lucy's recovery and have everything just back to normal right away.)
Tumblr media
2. Safety (2x07) - I yammered on a bit about this here, but I LOVE this episode, and Tim and Lucy don't interact in it at all. I don't think there's anything I dislike? Football Tim cold open ✅, Tim and Nyla and the challenge coins ✅, the beginning of the Lucy/Nyla duo of awesome (seriously, everything at the bomber's house) ✅, Angela being a sassy queen in her security gig ✅, and how Tim and Jackson's football storyline suddenly tied in with Angela's story ✅. One of my absolute faves!
Tumblr media
3. Man of Honor (3x10), Triple Duty (3x13), and Threshold (3x14) - I'm specifically talking about Tim as Angela's man of honor. Their friendship is amazing, and seeing this all play out is so much fun. Tim bursting into the bridal shop ("you're going into labor?") is hilarious, and then him helping her find a dress?? Ugh my heart! THIS FRIENDSHIP!!! And then Tim and Nolan trying to reduce the guest list, and Tim and Jackson showing up with riot shields??? I love it all so much. (Doesn't hurt that it culminates with Tim in a tux *fans self*)
Tumblr media
4. The Q Word (2x19), The Hunt (2x20), and Consequences (3x01) - I'll give credit where credit is due, I absolutely did not see the Armstrong twist coming. It all seems glaringly obvious now, but hindsight is 20/20. This is one of my favourite arcs. It was unexpected, a great Nolan/Harper team up, brought Rosalind back, and just really exciting to watch. (And while I don't hate Nolan like so many others, I do enjoy when he gets knocked off his pedestal a little bit and faces some real challenges.)
Tumblr media
5. Greenlight (1x12) - PAIN. I miss Andersen so much, she was an absolute badass. I can't watch this without crying, and that alone speaks to the power of this episode.
Tumblr media
Oh, and for shits and giggles, I'm also going to name my least favourite...
I hate, hate, hate that arsonist arc from early season 4. It was painfully obvious who the real killer was - literally the moment I saw him I was like "yup, there's your guy". It was just too much. It felt like a departure from the overall tone of the show, just way too dark, and yet somehow also leaned into a bit of a cartoonish depiction of a villain? The worst.
(Oh, and the double dose of shoving of The Rookie Feds down our throats backdoor pilot for The Rookie Feds is a close second... hated everything about it.)
Part of me wanted to add Under Siege (5x22) to the favorite arcs list, but since it's still ongoing, I will instead say I can't wait to see how to all plays out! Love seeing this team come together for each other!

I absolutely adore the new Pavitr fic you did! I constantly think of the idea of being a mother slash parental figure to Pav. Now you’ve got me thinking ‘BUT WHAT IF THE ROLES WERE REVERSED?’. Omg okay but would that be okay to request? If it isn’t too much to request and it wouldn’t be redundant? I just LOVE Found Family hurt to comfort angst fluff 🥹🥺
Edit: Originally I planned on combining this with another ask, but like Imma just do it here because I got conflicting ideas because of ADHD

You weren't much younger than he was, real fresh-faced and bushy-tailed, as they say.
Even your suit was practically generic, off-the-rack copy of one of the Peter Parkers' suits.
Hopeful, jubilant, and a bit naive if he was being honest.
But that is precisely why Pavitr liked you. You reminded him of himself. And, naturally, he took to offering to go with you on missions. It was nice to work with a like-minded, sunny-headed individual such as yourself.
The way you'd swing around HQ, crack jokes, pull pranks...
You were a sweet person, but sometimes your sweetness can be a real weakness. (Pavitr would know, seriously.)
Your whole personality was endearing, everyone around you loved you. Even Pavitr, in a way. Being around you had triggered some kinda feeling inside him that just said "protect the bean child" every time he was around you.
Jessica had chuckled at him one day and said "congrats on adopting the newbie" and that his "big brother instincts" woke up whenever you were around.
He vehemently denied it of course. For whatever reason.
But everyone knew it and called him out on his little fib.
Even Miguel would assign him to missions with you by default just to keep him from annoying him when he got back and you weren't there.
"What if they need my help? Where are they? Who are they fighting? Have they called you back yet? Have they called Lyla?"
Miguel just didn't want another headache, and it saved time.
But right now?
Right now was probably the worst day of Pavitr's life, recently.
You were on a mission, fighting some kind of variant of Doc Ock. His new mechanical arms designed to shoot projectiles.
You failed to dodge in time.
You got one spike in the shoulder, and the other right in your gut. Because you were still alive, one of the other Spideys said you were lucky and it missed your liver and spleen, because you didn't bleed to death like, on the spot.
It didn't ease his fears at all. Not when your blood soaked into his gloves, staining the front of his suit as he carried you through the portal, rushing you back into HQ.
Doc Ock had been beaten, but Pavitr was more concerned about you. You so reminded him of the stray pups he fed in the alleys back in Mumbattan.
The Spider-Pup. That's what everyone called you.
His Spider-Pup.
And right now, you were dying. Or possibly dying. The distinction didn't matter, all he saw was the blood and it sent his body into autopilot.
🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷
Pavitr paced outside the operation room in the medical wing, his hands wringing themselves out in worry.
It got to the point the blood dried and Hobie had to drag him somewhere else to get a shower and put on some clean clothes.
"Relax." Hobie had told him, a large hand clapped on his shoulder. "Your kid sib's gonna be fine, Pav. Jus' calm down."
"I know but what if--"
"You'll loose ya marbles if ya only focus on them what-if's, Pav. Let the docs do their thing, yeah? Our li'le Pup'll be just fine."
Pavitr's shoulders slumped.
It had been hours since you were out into surgery. He figured at least he'd hear something at this point. News, a passing medic, hell, even a ping from Lyla as she monitored the situation--
"You're going to wear a hole in the floor, kid." The guy dressed in some kind of military uniform said. Ah. Spider-Medic. That's what everyone called him, and it stuck. He was "the best guy to have 'round when it came to ya guts're hangin' out" as Hobie explained it to you.
"Sorry." Pavitr mumbled, twiddling his thumbs anxiously.
"Well, Pup's doing fine. Gonna need some blood transfusions, and--"
"I'm a match!" Pavitr blurted.
It was true, talking one day you brought up random facts about yourselves. That's when you found out that the two of you were matching blood types. After that you elbowed him and laughed saying you knew where to find an emergency kidney if you needed one.
But right now that banter was about to literally pay off.
"Hmmh. All right. Let me take your vitals and I'll get you rigged." Spider-Medic said, leading Pavitr into an adjacent room.
Hobie crossed his arms, tapping his foot on the floor. He was hoping Pavitr couldn't see how worried he was about you.
They weren't lying when they said everyone loved you.
🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷
You dragged your eyes open, your senses slowly coming back to you.
You could feel something heavy taped to your face, in your nose.
You turned your head with a soft groan, feeling the pain creep through the drugs the medic gave you.
Almost immediately, you recognized the fluffy hair and tanned skin of the man next to you.
"Pavitr?" Your voice slurred out.
Immediately his head whipped towards you and the biggest grin you'd ever seen erupted on his face. It was so bright it could probably turn the sun to shame.
He shouted your name excitedly and hopped to his feet, only to wince and mutter a curse as he plopped back down to his seat, frowning at his arm.
"Whoops! I ah, ha ha... forgot!" Pavitr said, rubbing the back of his head.
Your eyes trailed down and saw the port in his arm, the tube connected to a small object hanging on the stand... and connected to your own arm.
"P-Pavitr?" You say, your eyes now fully focused, pupils blown out from the painkillers flowing through your system.
"Yeah! Yeah, don't freak out!" Pavitr said to you, trying to allay your fears. "The doc said you needed blood and yeah, we were right! I'm a match for you, so..."
Your lip wobbled and you felt tears burn in your eyes, guilt filling you.
"Hey! Hey, what's wrong?" Pavitr asked, touching your hand with his free one, giving a soft squeeze.
"I--I messed up. I thought I could do it right, be like all of you. B-But I'm not as fast, or strong..."
Pavitr, ignoring the pain in his arm, moved and gripped the back of your head, bringing your forehead against his in a comforting gesture.
"Hey, kid. All that matters is that you're alive. Okay? We beat the bad guy, nobody else got hurt." He said softly.
You nodded softly, looking up into his eyes.
"And besides! You need to hurry up and get better so you can drink the chai my Aunty told me to give you! It's her own special bleeeeeend~" He said, waggling his eyebrows, making you laugh.
Seeing your spirits lifted, he pulled back and sat in his seat, hoping to hurry and finish the transfusion.
"See? That's a good Pup! Now go on and get better, you little twerp!" He grinned.
"Jerk." You sniffled, smiling as you wiped away your tears.
You were the best stray he'd ever adopted.

Ok so we are really going into The Rookie episode not know anything other than the comedic moments with Aaron. Not mad about it but also mad that the network hurts The Rookie by pushing Feds so much!
Edit! Omg I just realized on these so called “crossovers” we never get the promo for the next episode for the The Rookie either so if that holds true then we will not get the promo for the season finale!! 🤬
