Shadow of the Tower
5. the scene from it that lives in my head rent free.
All of the hand holding scenes (thanks in no small part to you giffing them). But particularly Elizabeth and Henry comforting each other after Arthur’s death, because it’s historically true, and we get to see a spark in Elizabeth.

Tudor Week 2022 Day 3
I must admit I am so critical I find some big fault with every single movie and tv show about Tudor dynasty. Hence it was really hard for me to pick. Still I much enjoyed The Shadow of the Tower.
Especially choosing very young actors to play the kids. I just love that Catherine of Aragon looks there upon arrival to England this young, because this might be actually accurate detail suggested by Juana’s portraits and portraits of one of Catherine’s nieces. These women might have looked very young looking even after their teens years being over.
Also while her headwear and sleeves aren’t that accurate, the height of waist and shape of skirt formed by verdugado beneat is pretty good(spanish paintings suggest it should be tiny bit narrower as it goes towards the floor-but I am happy with this).
And there were other accurate things like Catherine being also sick with Arthur and very weak after returning to court afterwards, not able to speak English Elizabeth of York being very kind to her and plenty more.
Overall this is my pick on very underated Catherine of Aragon.

Watching The Shadow of the Tower (1972), and I love that the visual shorthand to show that a given scene takes place in Ireland is to just have Irish Wolfhounds in the background of every shot.
