When you create the Dark Hunters but have next to no money to your name
Accidentally made him look like Anubis but I think its fitting for someone associated closely with mystery and death(?), despite what furries have done to the Egyptian God
Maybe now they will use this picture to refer to TSO instead of that one picture... maybe not

The Shadowed One: I demand to know who killed my henchmen!
Vakama: Just a shot in the dark here, but maybe it’s that guy wearing the suit made from their skin?

You have no idea how much I want Mata Nui to be awake post Restoration and learn that The Shadowed One stole the sleep virus that put him into his coma and intends to use it for something.
He also learns that The Shadowed One is a creep who captured / captures people and puts them into stasis tubes like specimen to collect. This happened to Varian and many others.
One part of Mata Nui is terrified.
Another part wants to put / punt The Shadowed One into the ground.

this idea’s been percolating in my mind for a while and I figured it was time to put it to paper
Afaik the dark hunters don’t have a wordmark or logo or anything like that but I had a stupid idea and refused to let it go to waste

Back at it again with more probably bad Bionicle ideas I've been cooking up an idea that would compress Krahka, Lariska and Johmak into one species. (Triglax and the archives beast too, of course) For this to work I have upgraded the Krahka species base intelligence, something akin to how Keetongu is sapient yet considered a rahi. Also updated their powers a bit, but I'm still experimenting with how I want them to pan out. The Krahka species shares the trait of shapeshifting, but that does not mean the shapeshifting is consistent. Different regional forms could have developed different ways of changing shape based on the environment. Instead of morphing the body into a new shape one could shatter and reconstruct themselves in a different formation. Sound familiar? That's Johmak here. She would come from a different region than out Metru Nui Krahka. What purpose do these shapeshifting abilities do for the Great Spirit Robot? Stem cells. Say an accident left a large amount of workers in a crucial area of the GSR unable to work, a group of Krahka could step in and continue the job if needed. The shapeshifting allows them to take on a form most useful for the job in addition to helping them blend in. Where does that leave Lariska? She was never stated to have shapeshifting powers in canon. That's because she just doesn't have them. A faulty cell unable to shapeshift, unable to preform her job. She is shunned for her inability to serve the Great Spirit, maybe ditches her mask as it would remind her too much of her old occupation. This broken mess was soon discovered by The Shadowed One who saw the potential in her. It would be very easy to convince her that hunter jobs were all the fulfilment she would need.
I also have an alternative take where Lariska was transfem which would add an additional layer of dysphoria to her that The Shadowed One could take advantage of, her getting rid of her mask would be for dysphoria reasons, and TSO could be pulling some additional strings to prevent her from ever experiencing euphoria, preventing her from getting a new face and such. I don't know if I'm gonna go with this take, but it's certainly on the table.

Skakdi Hearing Issues Headcanons
A shockingly large percentage of Skakdi have tinnitus and other hearing issues as a result of Spiriah’s experiments on their species and the constant fighting causing additional hearing damage. Luckily, those from newer generations seem to be suffering from these issues less and less. Skakdi that are also Dark Hunters are often provided with at least a basic hearing implant to help compensate for this, along with it also giving the Shadowed One an extra bit of leverage over them, as he could have them deactivated at any time. After the Piraka defected, all future hearing implants contained a small explosive to help prevent any repeated rebellions.
Zaktan was surprisingly lucky in this area, as he only had very minor tinnitus resulting from his time as a slave in a protodermis mine, and this was actually cured when he became a swarm of protodites.

Thinking about if in post canon Pridak comes to call TSO out on bailing out from their alliance. And the first thing TSO notes on is Pridak being hot again

So late last year I went on a bit of a rampage making personal redesigns for like... all of the Dark Hunters. Literally all of them (at least that we know of.) My relationship with the concept of the Dark Hunters is a bit complicated, mainly because back in 2004 I kind of assumed the name was sort of a catch-all term for mercenaries in that universe and wound up being pretty disappointed that wasn’t the case and they were an organization with a head and everything. But when I think of them as just an extremely prolific criminal organization, one of many, with The Shadowed One as functionally their Kingpin, I’m more on board with the idea. As a matter of fact I’ve kind of grown to love TSO, this neurotic megalomaniac who has no fewer than three people following him around everywhere he goes. He’s so petty, it’s great.
Anyhow, I rounded up some of my favorite designs from this period. As always, I drew inspiration from elsewhere when making these-- @agatharights is to blame for the general design philosophy behind The Shadowed One and Conjurer, as I used some of her Vortixx concepts as a base, @lesbianchemicalplant‘s AI generated masks were used for the masks of Lariska and Gatherer (even if the former is only barely visible in the roll cage) specifically these two, and @betarotai’s Dark Hunter art helped me to break down some of the more complex or abstract designs, like Tyrant and Amphibax there. I’m particularly proud of how Ravager and Prototype, of all characters, turned out-- Ravager’s original model just kind of sucks and Prototype is just the 2003 Makuta set with some extra parts slapped on, so I gave myself carte blanche to really give them their own personalities and I think they turned out great.

Tso in the V-universe collects Toa Hagah specifically (it all started with Varian, even though she was never a Hagah), and he's very much a pop collector about it. He get's mad when they're injured, throws tantrums when they die before he can get them. He's a man-child.

It's sending me to imagine that the Rahaga (and Dume) are far away from the battles in Time Trap that they don't learn of it until later. (If at all. My memory of that part of canon is muddy.)
Imagine: you are the Rahaga. You used to be the Toa Hagah, the personal bodyguards of Makuta Teridax. Once you learned how corrupt the Brotherhood of Makuta was, you sabotaged them and fled.
You also stole the Mask of Light from the Dark Hunters, one of the most dangerous organisations in the universe.
You return to Metru Nui and find parts of it in (even) more shambles than it was before. Keetongu limps over to you, asking for help. Iruini heals him with his rhotuka power.
Once Keetongu has recovered, he tells you the wildest of tales.
He battled Makuta Teridax, who's responsible for the destruction of Keetongu's species. Your old boss who you've betrayed for his misdeeds.
Teridax also battled somebody called The Shadowed One. Keetongu has no idea who that is, but OH. You do. You know who that is: the leader of the Dark Hunters. The Dark Hunters you stole the Mask of Life from and escaped your life with.
They were fighting over a powerful mask. Keetongu doesn't think either of them got what they wanted. They've already left.
You feel a bit faint.
