Back at it again with more probably bad Bionicle ideas I've been cooking up an idea that would compress Krahka, Lariska and Johmak into one species. (Triglax and the archives beast too, of course) For this to work I have upgraded the Krahka species base intelligence, something akin to how Keetongu is sapient yet considered a rahi. Also updated their powers a bit, but I'm still experimenting with how I want them to pan out. The Krahka species shares the trait of shapeshifting, but that does not mean the shapeshifting is consistent. Different regional forms could have developed different ways of changing shape based on the environment. Instead of morphing the body into a new shape one could shatter and reconstruct themselves in a different formation. Sound familiar? That's Johmak here. She would come from a different region than out Metru Nui Krahka. What purpose do these shapeshifting abilities do for the Great Spirit Robot? Stem cells. Say an accident left a large amount of workers in a crucial area of the GSR unable to work, a group of Krahka could step in and continue the job if needed. The shapeshifting allows them to take on a form most useful for the job in addition to helping them blend in. Where does that leave Lariska? She was never stated to have shapeshifting powers in canon. That's because she just doesn't have them. A faulty cell unable to shapeshift, unable to preform her job. She is shunned for her inability to serve the Great Spirit, maybe ditches her mask as it would remind her too much of her old occupation. This broken mess was soon discovered by The Shadowed One who saw the potential in her. It would be very easy to convince her that hunter jobs were all the fulfilment she would need.
I also have an alternative take where Lariska was transfem which would add an additional layer of dysphoria to her that The Shadowed One could take advantage of, her getting rid of her mask would be for dysphoria reasons, and TSO could be pulling some additional strings to prevent her from ever experiencing euphoria, preventing her from getting a new face and such. I don't know if I'm gonna go with this take, but it's certainly on the table.

Give Lariska and Surel a podcast called "An Arm and a Leg" where they talk about weapons and prosthesis
Give me the Vezon Eric Andre opening where he destroys a set so thoroughly that he's out of breath and the audience is completely silent, then Vezok appears to raucous applause as he wanders over to the co host chair, plops down and just glares at Vezon while he does his opening bit

Biovember day 3
Tumblr media
Long ago, a Great Being invented technology allowing things to change shape. The Kanohi Mahiki. Triglax’s species, the Makuta and their power of shapeshifting... but the others grew tired as he kept exploring this same shape-change technology instead of doing anything “useful”
They stormed his base, tore his robotic body apart, and scattered the pieces in the desert sands. Though destroyed, he did not die, and though thousands of years have passed, he did not forget.
If you know what character this is you’re cool

So, uh, I finally finished We’re Right Behind You
What was supposed to be a 7000 word fic turned into a novelette nearly twice that length. And it was supposed to take a month. Whoops. Also, sorry Tumblr folks, I was more active on CBW as the ending wasn’t fleshed out until now. This is going to be a master post of every chapter of We’re Right Behind You, and heck, I’ll even add a fun fact at the bottom. As a treat.
Tumblr media
Prologue: The New Occurring Nightmare, Part I
Chapter 1: Sound Check
Chapter 2: Leftovers
Chapter 3: What We’re Going To Do About It
Chapter 4: Ghost Stories
Chapter 5: Ships Ahoy
Chapter 6: Cell Reception
Chapter 7: Constructive Interference
Chapter 8: Conversations in Coda
Epilogue: The New Occurring Nightmare, Part II
Fun fact: The character of Vinik was created and included to round out the remaining Toa Cordak and to provide a foil to Triglax during the boat battle, which was one of the first scenes to be outlined. The first was Varian's fight with Gatherer.
Anywho, happy reading!

Headcanon: Being able to shapeshift into an exact physical replica of a person makes for the perfect disguise, and makes people inclined to believe you’re the real deal, even in the face of other evidence. As a result, Triglax has a tendency to get in over his head by acting uncharacteristically obnoxious and increasingly terrible to an impersonated person’s peers, just to see what he can get away with; Most people are going to assume their friend is acting like a jerk, well before they consider the possibility that they’re actually an impersonator.
In his mischief, Triglax has likely ruined a lot of relationships and reputations, especially if he kills the real deal before they can clarify otherwise. If the true person’s body is found, people will still think and remember them as having been a sudden jerk before mysteriously dying out of nowhere. Even when he’s not on a mission, Triglax still takes delight in causing misunderstandings and even framing people, just for sick kicks.
Triglax revels in seeing how many hints he can drop that he’s an impostor (including literally changing size right in front of others only to deny it) before people figure it out, if they ever do; It’s even funnier if they don’t. It’s certainly no wonder that Lariska looked forward to kicking Triglax’s ass, maybe even saw the opportunity as a reward by the Shadowed One for a mission well done.

My portrayal of Devastator in a nutshell
Devastator: Legend tells of a legendary warrior whose fighting skills were the stuff of legend. He traveled the land in search of worthy foes. He was so deadly in fact that his enemies would go blind from overexposure to pure awesomeness! It mattered not how many foes he faced. They were no match for his bodacity. Never before had someone like him been so feared... and so loved. Even the most powerful warlords and heroes, bowed in respect to this great master and desired to hang out. But hanging out would have to wait. 'Cause when you're facing the ten thousand Manas of Karzhani. there's only one thing that matters. And that's—
Triglax: Could you please shut up...

Pretenders
Catlin found herself sharpening her knives for the second time that day, and blinked. It had been a slow day in the infirmary. Then again, most days had seemed fairly slow, after the excitement with her last notable patient. The medics had worked hard to clean up every last trace of hordika venom, but with the Overseer’s slaves gone, there was a lot of menial work they weren’t used to doing themselves. The slabs still had gouges and scrapes in them from Lurker’s claws, and there were dents in the wall and broken lightstones still hanging.
She stared at a deep scratch in the slab, remembering the path Lurker’s talon had taken as it narrowly missed her head - then sighed. She didn’t like seeing the infirmary in this condition. I suppose that’s something to do, she mused, turning to fetch some cauk and repair supplies.
Catlin made for the door, then paused and stared at the figure sitting on a nearby slab. She blinked, and sheathed her knife. "I certainly wasn’t expecting you tonight.”

Who would you consider the most attractive dark hunter? (No, the Hordika Dragons don't count).
Yeah, that would be me.
I'm not saying that as an ego thing, I'm saying that because in general the bar around here is just really damn low.
It's been like that for a while...
Second place would probably go to Triglax, only on the grounds that he can sometimes turn into decent things, but he ruins them quickly anytime he talks.

More reverse-engineering! Triglax. Trei-Ga-La-Ak-Si. Guiding Together CalmGood(Intensive)(Whatever Si is). So Triglax could mean Wise Sage. Which is a hilarious name for a shapeshifting Dark Hunter.
I had si as a “comparative” element, so it translates to “more”, so “more wise (wiser) sage”. Definitely feels weird for a DH, but I guess we don’t know much about Triglax’s personality.

I recognise the Dark Hunter codenames are just so there were less names to push through the legal team, but they’re canon and I see little reason to get rid of them. However, I will clean up some discrepancies.
All Dark Hunters have codenames. This is to protect them from consequences from their past lives. Clients could request the use of specific Dark Hunters, but they would only be allowed to know the codenames and not their actual identities.
These are the Dark Hunters with proper names given codenames.
Amphibax - “Riptide”
Avak - “Trigger“
Firedracax - “Pyromaniac”
Hakaan - “Bully“
Kraata-Kal - “Knightfall”
Krekka - “Bouncer“
Lariska - “Slasher”
Nidhiki - “Dancer”
Reidak - “Tracer“
Sentrakh - “Protector”
Thok - “Drifter“
Triglax - “Anyone”
Vezok - “Beast”
Voporak - “Timekeeper”
Zaktan - “Snake”

We’re Right Behind You
Epilogue: The New Occurring Nightmare, Part II
Heavy eyelids sluggishly opened in complete darkness, the optics beneath scanning the sides of the enclosing tunnel. The Onu-Matoran absentmindedly pet the trusty Ussal Crab besides him. One by one, various creatures of the underground cooed and snarled awake in a cuddled heap. The lone villager looked upon the sight and smiled.
“Ah,” he whispered. “Seems that I fell asleep on the job again.” The crab chirped in response, as if to say 'You mean despite your job?'
“Can you blame me? It's the reason I'm so tired all the time.” The Matoran yawned, his body reinforcing the point. “Leading the other villagers is such hard work! I'm surrounded by their rants and ravings all the time; it seems that you are the only ones that actually listen to what I have to say.”
The smattering of Rahi cocked their heads to the side before the Ussal spoke in kind.
“We listen out of fear, not loyalty. You should understand us better than anyone.”
The villager's visage glazed over in disbelief as the creatures gathered around him. Their heads began to twist and contort – eyes growing red, horns sprouting from their temples. In an agonizing instant, dozens of the same horrid face glared at their defenseless prey. A face that he did not recognize back then: The Shadowed One. The Rahi swarmed upon the Onu-Matoran, suffocating him from the rest of the world as he always wanted.
---
Gatherer woke up for the first time in thousands of years. The Dark Hunter clutched his head as he stared vacantly into the now empty cell in front of him, it's lock melted through. He shakily rose to his feet and limped to the ladder without a word. The sight that greeted Gatherer on the deck stunned him: scorched metal, busted bolts and crushed bulwark – it's a miracle the ship was still functioning with all the damage it sustained. A sweep of the scene revealed the fate of the other Dark Hunters on the ship. Triglax was passed out, his hulking Kikanalo form taking slow and shallow breaths. Gatherer heard Lurker before he saw him: the scarlet menace was cursing at the sky, trapped in the hastily healed crater of what looked like an explosion. Lurker noticed his fellow mercenary and began to shove his ire at him, but Gatherer simply ignored the tirade. He was too focused on the face in his mind, the visage of his employer. The last Dark Hunter on his feet stared into the horizon and uttered an understatement:
“He's not going to like this.”

What if we characterized Triglax like Camilo from Encanto? What with being an obnoxious shapeshifter and all...
“LARISKA, your boyfriend’s here!”
