Alina was always wiser than Mal when it came to understanding how quickly people's opinions can change and blame. During their date at the Fountain, she told Aleksander she knew her fans would change their tune if she couldn't fulfill their image of the Perfect Sun Sankta and Vaquisher of the Fold. His resigned expression agreed with her, hence him saying he wouldn't leave her side to face the world alone. He wanted Alina loved by all, and he'd play the Monster to accomplish it.

Their fountain date is one of my favourite scenes just because of how much there is to unpack from that scene. I think I could watch it a thousand more times and still find things to talk about there is so much nuance in that scene. Also the chemistry between them is amazing in this scene and I think its one of those scenes where they really connect and open up to each other. I do agree that Aleks agreed and knew that Alina's statement about if she can't keep up the correct image the people see of her then they will turn on her. He knows because its what happened to him and that also lead to them slaughtering his people. You can see his passion and determination when he tells her that he will not let that happen. In that moment I really did believe him and I think it was a very genuine moment on his part. I think one thing that really drives Aleks after he discovers Alina is the sun summoner is making sure that she never goes through the same experiences that he did. This means making sure she never feels alone and that she knows she will always have him, and that means making damn sure the people don't turn on her, he's even prepared to play the part of the monster so that they will see her as the hero and saviour. I also think its alot of the reason why he is so against Alina and M*l. Whilst I do think some of it is jealousy because of his own developing feelings it is also because he knows that Alina is immortal and M*l is not, he knows that one day she will have to watch M*l die and he doesn't want her to experience that loss like he has many times over his long life. For Aleks it is all about protecting Alina both from physical but also emotional harm this is what makes it all the sadder when he himself is what brings her that pain and harm himself.

you know funnily enough The Boy™ has been my p*ndemic comfort character but I’m not sure where he lands on my like, overall list? ((I have many.)) These are not in an order other than having beaten out my 1098w0985245 others.

1. Bastian Balthasar Bux — The Neverending Story. One day you will all listen to me and read this book. One day. One day I would very much like to understand enough to read it in its native German. I will not spoil a single thing about it to you because I want you to read it. but know that Bastian starts out (depending on the reader) somewhat unlikeable and then grows on you because oh how he grows. I just think Bastian would Understand, y’know. I’ve actually have been eyeing my copy and maybe I’m gonna reread again idk.

2. Eragon Bromsson, Shadeslayer, Shining Palm, Vaquisher of Snails — The Inheritance Cycle. A very familiar flavor of impulsive, knowledge-seeking, kind-hearted idiot, actually now that I think about it, but with a Farm Boy At Heart twist (wants so badly to plant himself somewhere). Also technically younger and more fate-controlled than this one. Good book series that I’ve read many times and shared with my Dad, so, big special place in my heart. I’ve technically given a spoiler with his name but honestly he was the only one who didn’t know. Read these books. Play Inheritance characters with me.

3. Madelyn Magson. You don’t know her & she’s not from established media, she belongs to me, but she has been my best girl since.... For a long time, let’s go with For A  Long Time. No matter what I do or where I go or how I change, I’ve got my best girl. I have drawn her a thousand times and written her a million and brought her across various genres and loved her and been frustrated with her and. Whatever you get it. Best girl.

A curse escaping him as he nearly knocked over the bacon before turning to look at her. Messy yellow hair draped over her shoulders as she looked up at him with a uncertain smile. Harry just smiled softly taking hold of her hips. A stolen kiss before either of them lost their nerve. Eyes closed he finally pulled back to meet her silver gaze. "Good morning Luna..."
