Mother’s Day

Summary: all my favorite tropes celebrating Mother’s Day

Warnings: should be none!

Cottagecore!Harry-

The day would start with Harry waking up at the buttcrack of dawn, cleaning around the cottage and feeding all the animals and watering the gardens so he didn’t have to stop in the middle of their celebration to tend to the farm

He would get the kids ready and feed them breakfast before making a large breakfast in bed for his still heavily pregnant wife, wishing her a happy Mother’s Day and giving her a few gifts while he could since at any second the kids would be bursting in to give their mother homemade cards and the random gifts they’ve made

It would be a quiet day, Anne coming over for a quiet lunch in the yard, Harry giving her a few gifts

Gemma would probably come over so they could all celebrate together

Once they left it would be like any other day but giving y/n an extra break

Harry would bathe the babies before tucking them into pajamas and shipping them off to bed

Harry would pull out the peach pie he had made earlier but hid from the kids

And they would sit in their messy bed, the TV playing an old chick flick from the early 2000’s while they ate ice cream and pie straight out of the dishes

And they would probably fall asleep with the lights still on and a tub of ice cream melting on their night stand

Harry whispering a little “happy Mother’s Day, sweet pea.” Through a yawn just before he fell asleep

Blind!harry

I think blind Harry would go big for Mother’s Day

Wake her up with a large breakfast that he ordered from her favorite restaurant and it was all scattered around the large dining table

Harry would scoop Storm up before he started crying so he didn’t wake Y/n up, change him quick and get the little three month old ready for Mother’s Day

And he would wake up Finn to get him ready and get all the gifts and everything gathered at the table so once she walked down for breakfast her gifts would be perfectly set out with the flimsy metal trays set out, pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, toast, every breakfast item you could think of

She would be so excited like “awe, all my babies”

Harry would be so excited “happy Mother’s Day, mummy! We love you!” And she would wrap them all in a big hug, kissing over their heads :(

Finnley would be so happy :( giving her the little card he made for her out of construction paper and washi tape with little scribbles because he didn’t know how to spell and he would read it off to her “it says I love you mummy you’re the best.”

Even tho that’s definitely not what it said she would still think it was so sweet “thank you so much, baby. I’ve got to hang it on the fridge” and they would sit together for breakfast, Harry feeding Storm a bottle so Y/n could focus on her own breakfast

And after he would let y/n take the morning slow, take a nice, long, hot shower and do a face mask, take all the time she needs to pamper herself before she’s ready for the day

By the time she was done Harry would be knocking at the door “we have lunch reservations.” And they would meet Anne at the restaurant, reserving a room in the back so they could have privacy and not force people around them to deal with a fussy two year old and a hangry three month old

After their nice, quiet dinner they would walk around the strip mall in their town, looking at the random shops that have opened up recently

70’s!harry

I think 70’s harry would be one of those husbands who didn’t really do much for Mother’s Day

Like he knows y/n doesn’t really like the whole “this day is all about you” so he just keeps it lowkey, wakes her up with a little kiss and pulls her into a shower for two, gives her a sappy little speech “M’so privileged to have someone as amazing as you in m’life. Can’t fuckin’ believe you let me knock you up. I know we’ve had some troubles in the past but Honey and Lennon are perfect. I wouldn’t want our family any other way.”

The kids give her their little gifts and Harry gets her something like a necklace or a gift card to her favorite clothing store

And then he’s off to lunch with his mother

And once he’s home they just do simple things

Tidy up or all watch a film

Not much of a busy planned day but it was still nice

Marriagecounselor!harry

Harry would plan something big

It was her very first Mother’s Day that she celebrated as an actual mother

April was still a newborn but it was a very special day, she’s waited her whole life to be able to celebrate Mother’s Day with the father of her baby and her baby girl

He would wake her up with breakfast, making all her favorites

He would plan a big dinner with their family towards the end of the day so while they still had time he would take her shopping

And as a gift he would get her a necklace with the date and time of Aprils birth with Aprils little birth stone and he would get them cute matching outfits they could wear

And he would take thousands of pictures to send to his mother all like “my first Mother’s Day as a daddy! Are you proud?!🥰😍”

Please he’s the perfect man

He would surprise her with a gift while they were out “mummy and me spa day, you and April go have fun, daddy will be cleaning the house and making everything spotless. I’ve got lots of bottles to clean.”

Ugh and it would make y/n’s heart grow huge because they never had time to do anything nice or for themselves now that April was there so the one free day they have Harry spends taking care of his girls

And while Harry was cleaning around the house he would get a little video of April propped up on a rolled up towel, getting a back massage

Harry would think it was so cute, gushing over how cute his little girl is

And once they were out, skin glowing and relaxed, Harry would be so excited to see them, kissing all over her face

He would give them their time to squeeze in a nap after that before they get ready and Harry takes them to the beautiful dinner he set up, on the beach with their family

And it would be April’s first time on the beach, she would love the sand and the feeling of the water on her chunky toes

They would all get the cutest family pictures

And before they know it they were all back cuddled up in bed, falling asleep together and letting the sand fall off their legs and onto the sheets

But they will wash them the next day…

Oh Harry would love Mother’s Day more than Y/n

Setting out a pretty outfit for her to wear and getting the kids all ready for a nice barbecue with their family

And since he had the biggest house his family would gather there and have a barbecue

He would be right by Y/n’s side all day, like usual

He would get her a beautiful diamond necklace with matching earrings, some flowers, poppys since those had always been her favorite

And they would have a fun day

A bunch of kids over for Beau, Grey, and Poppy to play with- but poppy was clingy and a daddy’s girl so she didn’t really leave his side

The day was full of laughs and chatting with family friends and telling old story’s, it would be a fun day for everyone, including the kids

okay so important things

first of get many shelfs to put your things onjars for small things

if you see a cool rock? take it

if you see a cool stick? take it

if you see a cool bone? take it

display all your favorite toys.

sheep skins, blankets or just really anything soft.

buy way too many plants. alternatively there are guides on how to legally steal plants. if you can´t keep plants alive get some Decorative Fake Plants. no shame in that.

wallpapers. the wildest one you can get. alternatively paint or stamp your walls.

carpets. i enjoy rainbow ones. you can buy them or wait until you inhert them from your grandfatherlava lamps.

fairy lights. really any tacky lighting you see and can obtain. obtain it.

if you don´t want exotic pets or inverts. or can´t have them. you can just get tiny vivariums for plants and that´s still going to give you that Peak Aesthetic.

 for the aquarium aesthetic i suggest marimos in glass bowls or vases. or just a planted tank. you can really get that aesthetic without animals don´t worry.

if you have animals tho. you know what´s the best aeshetic. really nice enclosures with a lot of enrichment. nothing looks better than happy pets

make some art. put it on that wall. yes even if you don´t consider yourself An Artist. i don´t care. make some art. have some fun. hang that up. so much better than those horrible stock images they sell at furniture stores.

rainbow washi tape is the most valid way to stick anything to your walls.

go to fleamarkets or on a website of your choice because you get funky things there for low prices.

 i don´t have any matching furniture because i either bought it to work for me or got is gifted and honestly. it works. don´t listen to ikea and the minimalists. your furniture doens´t have to be monotone and matching. i have three different desks and chairs and they all have different uses because i need different things from them.

 clear plastic bins are great to store things in if you like to always see everything you own because you have no object permanence like me.

for the same reason you can just take furnitures doors off. show of your things. all of them. constantly.

keep seasonal decorations around all year. it´s always gremlin season.

 if you can´t build a whole massive loft bed with a cave underneath it´s perfectly valid to have a semi permament pillow fort.

most important is however to just do what you like. a gremlin cave should feel like you even when you are restricted with how much you can do because of money, or the rules of your place, or the people you live with. get some rocks. get some sticks. no one can stop you.

Great Effort and Practice, Practice, Practice! I hope you’re not getting sick with the word ‘Practice’, but that’s the reality. Nobody can just ace in something without a tonnes of practice. Try to draw something daily, even if it’s just some messy doodle in class, it still count as practice.

Watch YouTube tutorials. There’s actually many tutorials that you can found on YouTube. Seriously, they are ALL AMAZING! I don’t have any YouTuber preferences, cuz I tend to watch randomly, just any vids that I think interesting. When I was still noobies with digital art, YT vids are the most helpful thing in my life! I actually learn how to use layers, tricks, drawing hacks  and etc. from YT.

Referencesssssss…. for startup, this is the most important thing. You may be able to envision on what to draw in your mind, but somehow, when you want to start drawing, it just turns out blank cuz you don’t know how to do it. Drawing doesn’t have to just be about drawing whatever you imagine and tadaaa it’s done, sometimes you need references. In the past, I just referred from comic books, and some art magazine. There’s no Internet at my house at the time lol. I try to draw like in the comic, something like same pose but different hair or outfit. Well, now it is much easier. Everything is on the Internet. OH! I found this one amazing website which have great references if you want to practice on figure drawing, just click here! You can customize the settings whether u want to practice on facial expression, or hands, or body poses, or even animals. (WARNING: There’s nudity in there, but you can switch it off on the setting) It’s totally AWESOME!!!

Take a break in awhile. There will be times that you feel like you’re not making any progress. Your drawing sucks. It’s ugly. Why you can’t make it beautiful like his/her drawing? Why people kept criticizing your arts but exactly all you wanna do is make them happy. You can’t draw anything cuz you’re having the artist block. You starting to feel down and you want to give up. Yeah, I’ve been there. and still do. But don’t worry, it will pass. If you feel like things are getting pretty stressed up, just take a break. Try to do other things. Well, I prefer to just watch some movies, or blast some songs and sing my heart out, talk to someone I’m close to, or just go to sleep. Sometimes, all you need is just rest. Or maybe a hiatus to clear your mind. But don’t make it too long, cuz it could took quite some time to gain back your drawing skills (I learn it from my hiatus a while ago..I kindof  forgot how to draw faces, but it came back after a while hehe ^^).

Make a Personal Sketch Book. Sketchbook is like a necessity to me. It’s more like for doodles and some gibberish stuff I make up in there, but still it’s where I pour out everything I hold inside of me. If you’re creative enough, you can decorate it with stickers and washi tape etc. But I prefer mine to be just as it is. This book totally helpful if you want to look back on your old drawing or doodles, and even improving your art style. Any book that you’re comfortable to draw in it is cool. So far, I have three sketchbooks in my collection. Seriously, you will be super impress when you look back on your old sketchbook ^^ It’s FUN!

The colour isn't exactly the same as it is in the picture. I got the blue one and it's more sky blue than navy blue, but i still love it! I also think that the photos look edited so maybe the filter and editing made it look darker? It’s very comfy, oversized and lightweight. The fabric is also very soft, perfect for the summer. The shirt is well made and i still have it in my wardrobe.

Navy Coat*

This was actually bought by my sister, but i thought i’d add it in the review cuz i’ve never bought a coat or jacket. The coat is more like a light jacket. Me & my sister didn’t expect it to be thin but looking closely at the photos it does look quite thin. It’s not a bad coat but it isn’t for winter cuz it won’t be thick enough. You would have to layer up. Still quite a good jacket for nippy days tho. (I guess that’s why the model is wearing summer clothes underneath lol).

I have been OBSESSED with geometrical earring lately so i thought i’d buy some instead of studs. I love the earrings i got and i wear them a lot when i go out. The first one did have a little fault. At the end of the ball on one of the earrings had like an extra ring attached. I could easily cut it off cuz i have a tool for it, but i’m not too sure how other people who don’t have jewellery clippers would take it off. It annoyed me a bit, but i just had to cut it. These are super cute and i’ve no other problems! The second earring was perfect!

Convertible Canvas Backpack*

I was very hopeful that this bag would last me a while. I’ve seen mixed reviews on bags not being able to last  long. I got this when i was in year 11 i believe, i used it for school and worn it out pretty quickly. I don’t remember exactly but i think it was around 4-5 months when the strap started to break. It was partly my fault i think. I put really heavy folders that i couldn’t be bothered to hold, along with my jacket on top. I do still have it tho because i sewed it back. Who knows how much longer it would’ve lasted if i looked after it properly~ but i will still knock down the rating because there are some canvas bags that cost the same or even less that can last longer.

If i could rate it 100/5 on the site i would lol. I bought this 4 years ago and this wallet has lasted through tough times. I still use it occasionally. I currently use a smaller coin purse cuz i don’t really need all the compartments anymore. But when i do, i use this. It is such a good wallet and was the exact style i was looking for. It’s a shame that they no longer have it in store, but it would definitely had been a big recommendation of mine if you were looking for a big wallet. The price is also pretty good imo.

Passport/Wallet Case

Looking at the reviews it was very mixed and i debated whether or not to get it because the negative reviews were convincing me. But i really wanted this case lol. So i just bought it and hoped for the best. Right off the bat when i first saw it the colour wasn’t the same as the photo. In the photos it was an emerald green but mine is a lighter green. If you compare the photos mine is practically a grass green. Not a fan of the colour much, but it was more of the quality i was worried about because that’s what people mostly complained about. Quality was actually pretty good. It was well made, doesn’t feel cheap. The only thing is that the structure is a tad off when i close it. It’s kinda weird to describe but it doesn’t look even. It’s not bad tbh but as a customer you want perfect scores on everything ya know. I’m still keeping it tho cuz it’s still very useable and it’s not horrible. Once you start adding things in the compartments the structure is fine.

Fine liner pen set (bought in pink & blue)*

The fine liners are in different colours, the patterns on the packaging is just different. The liners are pretty good but sometimes the ink doesn’t come out properly. This isn’t for all of them but some are like that. You kinda have to shake the pen to get it out.

Planner*

This is a really good planner. You can buy this at any year and start whenever you want because you put the year. Perfect for school or work. This is unavailable now but just look at the other stuff from the brand. They are pretty pricey, but if you want a good planner this brand is really good. They also have a lot of different sizes. I got the small one so i can put it in my bag and it won’t take up a lot of space. The planner was also very well made.

I bought sheet masks: The Makgeoli (skin purifying) and Rice (clear skin) one. Haven’t tried these yet, but i know these aren’t fakes. Yesstyle sells real brands so it’s just the price you need to look at since they are sold at different prices in different stores.

Faux Leather Shoes 

I was most excited for these shoes out of all the items i recently bought. I opened up the box and realised the shoelace was different, but I wasn’t even mad tho cuz the shoes were still nice. But when i looked at the product link again i saw that these are completely different shoes lol (I guess i was too excited or just forgot what they looked like). I couldn’t really tell the difference between the shoes i got and the shoes i originally chose until i saw the photo to compare. I then emailed yesstyle about the issue because as good as the shoes are i wanted the shoes i ordered. They were very nice about it and responded very quickly to my emails. They sent me the shoes i wanted and i got to keep the ones they accidentally sent me! BONUS! :D

Site navigation - Very easy to navigate around the store with a lot of categories and subcategories. They also have a lot of filters you can choose from if you’re looking for something specific. 5/5

Product info - The photos can speak for themselves and the product descriptions are usually helpful. 5/5

Clothing Sizes - Unfortunately they don’t have a wide range of sizes. A lot of items are one size (they have measurements in the description so you know if they fit you). Since this is an asian site the sizing is on the smaller side compared to the US and UK. They also do have a lot of clothing with S,M,L and they have a plus size section but they could add a lot more. (Tbf yesstyle is basically a tkmaxx/tjmaxx so the sizing is from the brands, but make sure you know your exact measurements.) 4/5

Customer service - They were great. When i contacted them about my shoes i was worried i would have to wait a long time, because they have an automated response saying they will get back to you asap, but it may take up to 1-2 weeks. They responded in a couple of days which really surprised me and it was all sorted out in 2 days. This was the only time i ever had to contact them and it went pretty smoothly. 5/5

update on shoes! unfortunately they couldn’t send me the original ones i wanted so they decided to give me store credit on how much the shoes was.

And that’s it! phew that was long! If you wanna share your own experience reply to this post (: I will add an update on the shoes if anything goes wrong or if any of the new items crap out on me sooner than it should lol.

a guide to bullet journals 

hey guys! so i’ve been asked a couple of times what bullet journals were and how to bullet journal, so i’ve built a masterpost that’ll hopefully make things clear! (:

what’s a bullet journal anyways?

great question, friend. 

so a bullet journal is a flexible, customization, all-in-one/all-for-one system! it’s where you get to combine your planner, calendar, to-do list, doodles, schedule, journal, dairy, and anything else you can think of into one!

this was originally created by Ryder Carroll, you can check out the official bullet journal website and the bullet journal video to see how bujo-ing all began.

we also affectionately call bullet journals bujos for short (like we name our ships, we’ve taken the first two letters and mashed them together!)

you basically get to mash up all your organization stuffs into one notebook/journal/dairy!

where do i start + (is there a set way i have to do things?)

to answer the last question first, absolutely not!!! there’s no set way to do things, but there’s generally basic things everyone does but other than that, the best part of having a bullet journal is the freedom to do and organize and set up any way you’d like it!

here’s where i’d begin:

start by choosing your poison (a notebook).

you can use any notebook, be it a plain notebook you picked up at targets or a fancy pants one you bought at muji or something! i’ve used both, and both are equally good to use!

but in case you were wondering, most of us use journals (either blank, lined, or dotted to allow for more freedom in setting up our bujos) that are mostly for bujos! 

bujos are usually smaller (makes them portable and light), only a little bigger than your palm, but honestly, the most important part is that you like whatever notebook you’ve chosen. that’s all there is to it, honestly.

what are the notebooks i see everyone using though??

most likely the bujos you’re seeing all around are either leuchtturm or moleskine. 

these are the more “official” bullet journals that are basically universally used. 

next, start with the basics.

like trying to build a robot, you’ve gotta build your basic frame / layout for your bullet journal! 

begin with a key or legend.

your bullet journal goes in a chronological order, like a diary. so as you work in your bujo, having a legend / key will help you organize your thoughts and help separate your tasks from dates, mark some things as important, etc.

in your legend, put symbols that’ll stand for things! 

perhaps a checkbox so you can check things off as you do them? (most people put to-do lists in their bujo each day / week)

a clock to represent dates, exclamation marks for important things, etc.

you choose whatever you think will help you sort things out!

color coding (sub-point)

you can also color code your legend and bullet journal to stand for different things (green = birthdays, blue = school events, etc.)

an index

your index is your table of contents! it helps you keep track of everything you’ve got going on in case you get lost or want to check out a certain day or page that you did last month!

don’t forget to number your pages, kids.

actual spreads

there’s absolutely no set way to do things in your bullet journal, but you add everything and anything you want, basically. further below in this masterpost/guide i’ve got some different (and amazing) bullet journals and spread examples listed!!

most go with weekly spreads, some do daily spreads

but what you do on your actual spreads is 

a to-do list of what you’ve got going on and what you’ve gotta to today! (on weekly spreads, people put the day of the week and a list underneath, usually)

doodles and inspiring quotes or lyrics or whatever

pretty pictures

ideas or sketches

notes from class or just a place to jot things down in

whatever you like, tbh!

the lists and stuff

sometimes, people dedicate one or two whole pages for one big big big list thing! 

this deviates from the spread and is where bujo-ing is super fun, where you get a lot of freedom in how you want to set up and work with your bujo.

for example, you can have 

a page for books you want to read this year, movies you’ve watched, goals for the year, habit trackers, a quote collection, etc.

all the rest

other things you can put in your bujo are

ticket stubs

calendars

photos

doodles

washi tape

habit trackers + water trackers

literally everything

ya thats about it, actually. that’s how to: bullet journal.

you probably wanna know the things people use with their bujo, right?

washi tape

basically pretty (often paper) tape with patterns, colors, drawings, whatever

stationery

people use pencil, marker, pen, highlighters, and anything you can think of to draw or write in their bujo

any other advice, jo, you long-winded nerd?

ya definitely 

don’t feel bad if you mess up or make mistakes in your bullet journal!! i do it literally all the time and it’s totally okay. 

do what works for you

have lots of fun doing it!

don’t be afraid to experiment, yes!

go overboard, stay minimalistic- do whatever you like the best, basically.

hello! i was wondering if you have any tips on how to keep notes and journals look nice? and like any hacks or anything you use? thank you!!

Hello too! I do have my personal ways to make journals look nice but not so sure about my notes lol but here they are anyway!

Notes

neat handwriting

 I mean, notes are for studying, right? I think the most important thing when taking notes is to write neatly :) you can read more easily (which means your brain can understand it more easily) and it is also aesthetically pleasing ♡

keep it simple

I personally prefer a clean look when it comes to notes. I normally use only three colors; black, red and blue (classic lol). I use black for almost everything, red for the topic or conclusions (at the bottom of the page) and blue for extra informations or examples. If I need some drawing to understand things more easily, that’s when my colored markers come in :) I go crazy after that but until then, keep it SIMPLE !

use your ruler all the time!

Yes, I’m obsessed with clean looks on notes lol Whenever I need to draw in some kinds of graphs, or just lines, I always, ALWAYS use my ruler. It just makes everything look more organized. And clean, organized notes leads you to come back to your note more often cause they are BEAUTIFUL ♡

Journal

neat handwriting

again, neat handwriting is EVERYTHING ! ! ! but you can try out some cute fonts since you don’t need to be as clean as when you’re taking notes haha

limit the colors you use

I usually go for two to three colors at a time (at a week). Too many colors will make your journal look confusing (a total chaos) and that’s not pretty :( Instead of using like a ton of colors, try matching two or three colors that go well together. Personal recommendations ; navy & gray, pink & brown, blue & dark yellow, white & beige etc.

draw or print & washi tapes

These are what really add character to your journal. Printing out pretty pictures is the easiest way to decorate your spread. (stickers are great, too) Find some great pictures from tumblr or on google ! I wish if my printer was working :( but it’s okay, I can always draw by myself ! (takes a loooooot of time tho) & I love using washi tapes♡♡♡ If you have one or two washi tapes that matches the colors of your spread, your work is done ! No, not yet lol You have to place them. I think washi tapes look the best when they are layered, placed next to the title, and in between texts ! The ones with white backgrounds are realllllly useful cause they can be layered with any washi tapes! Look up some of my posts to see what I mean ;)

I don’t even need to explain this. Duh, right? 

+) I also draw in some sparkles into empty spaces of my journal. I can’t remember where I got the inspiration from :(
