#the witch hunters of skyrim
Text
Made a faction for Skyrim based on the witch hunters from The Witcher and real witch hunters from the 1600s
So they are called The Witch Hunters of Skyrim aka The Witch Hunters (tho unlike Vigilants of Stendarr witch hunters that only hunt witches these witch hunters believe all magic users are witches) and they are made up of mostly Nords but there are other non Nordic humans in The Witch Hunters except for Bretons
The Witch Hunters were formed not too long after The Great Collapse of Winterhold they are a bunch of anti magic religious fanatics who worship Talos not only do they hunt mages but they also hunt any non human races as they believe them to be an abomination to Talos they also hunt Bretons due to them being half elf
They are obviously Stormcloak aligned and primarily operate in Stormcloak territory however they have been found in Imperial territory however they stay out of the cities
In Stormcloak territory they have free reign to detain any citizen they deem to be a magic user and publicly execute them in ways similar to the witch hunting methods of the 1600s
They however will not detain a jarl's court wizard without permission of said jarl but they do have schemes on attacking The College of Winterhold
Jarl Korir has given them full permission to take on The College however they have yet to do that as they know the gate will not open to them
The reason they have yet to detain Nelacar is because they think he is a Thalmor spy due to him being a high elf so they don't wanna take him out of the picture until Ulfric becomes High King so they don't tip off the Thalmor about him going missing they do not however know about Ancano
They also don't believe that Vaermina is the source of Dawnstar's nightmares and instead choose to believe that Erandur is using magic to plague Dawnstar with nightmares
Many NPCs in the base game are apart of The Witch Hunters such as Heimskr and some of the citizens (minus Benor as my HC of Benor is like how he is in Denizens of Morthal) of Morthal that don't trust the jarl or Falion and they believe Idgrod and her son to be practising dark arts but they know they can't attack them because they are in Imperial territory
They also forbid the use of any magical or enchanted items believing them to be evil
And they also believe any claims of Tiber Septim being a Breton is lies made up by The Aldmeri Dominion

The Night World’s end of the world
A bit of pondering, with bonus picture of Sarah Strange.
The setup: animal attacks, natural disasters and strange diseases are on the rise! The end of the world is coming! Most of the Night World thinks it’ll be the end of the human world and they will be free to live their best vampire- and shapeshifter-lives, enslaving humans to feed from like they did back in prehistory. But Circle Daybreak is not down for mass human destruction and wants to try and stop what’s coming. Luckily there is a prophecy! There are four “Wild Powers,” four people with a special gift-- blue fire! Very cool. If they all work together they can stop the darkness. Circle Daybreak has a guide to help find them:
One from the land of kings long forgotten;
One from the hearth which still holds the spark;
One from the Day World where two eyes are watching;
One from the twilight to be one with the dark.
The first three we found in the books that have been published. A vampire prince, a ditzy but soulful lost witch, and a vampire hunter who is herself half vampire. The three of them are from the “royal families” of the Night World, the vampire Redferns and the witchy Harmans.
Information from Strange Fate indicates that the fourth Wild Power is Kierlan Drache, from the “royal family” of the shapeshifters. His family name is linked to some very cool new shapeshifter lore that Ms. Smith added for the last four books. The Drache family are dragonborn, before Skyrim or Game of Thrones did it.
In ancient times the dragons were the most powerful and cruel of shapeshifters, ruling whole kingdoms and keeping humans as cattle. Ms. Smith’s dragons seem to be totally evil, drawing on all the darkest ancient serpent mythology. Being shapeshifters, they can be dragon or human, and have the unique power to take on any human or animal form they wish. Ordinary shapeshuifters are limited to one human form and one animal form, the descendants of the dragons are able to choose their animal form while true dragons can shapeshift into any animal or human.
The true dragons are the villains in the end of the world arc, rising from centuries of slumber to bring about the end of the world. Exactly how this will happen is a bit murky; despite the disasters Jez hears about in Huntress, by Witchlight the human world still seems to be puttering along with high school continuing as usual.
This made me wonder: was this “end of the world” arc Ms. Smith’s idea? Or did the publisher decide the series needed a dramatic wrapup? Because Ms. Smith doesn’t seem super invested in the apocalyptic worldbuilding of it all. She had great fun writing the post-apocalypse story that was originally part of Strange Fate then split off to become the standalone novel The Last Lullaby, and I know this because she told me. :-) I emailed her to say “post-apocalyptic is fun to write isn’t it?” and she sent a brief “it sure is!” reply. My only actual conversation with the woman of mystery. But she seems much less into the apocalyptic event itself. This is what made me wonder if Ms. Smith wasn’t the decider in the whole end of the world thing and just wanted to keep writing her supernatural high school stories.
Thinking about the spread of Wild Powers it occurs to me that we have an uneven spread. Witches, vampires and shapeshifters are represented, but humans only get a half-inclusion.
So… is Kierlan a confirmed Wild Power or just a likely Wild Power? ‘Cause Circle Daybreak agents tracked down Iliana through her ancestry long before she could use the blue fire. What I’m saying is, I wonder if Kierlan is a ringer and Sarah will turn out to be the real Wild Power.
On that subject, we have a picture of Sarah, made by Ms. Smith on a dollmaker. (Wherever you are now, Ms. Smith, I hope you’re having loads of fun making all your characters with AI art because it is a blast.)
Tumblr media
I’ll have to paraphrase the description since I couldn’t find it again but in my memory Ms. Smith waxes eloquent about how Sarah “May be a bit clumsy and a bit of a crybaby…” which, uh, reminds me of somebody.
Tumblr media
And Ms. Smith goes on to talk about Sarah’s bluegreen eyes, shimmering as if with unshed tears, as her most beautiful feature.

Peaceful Co-Existence with the Falmer? - an ESO Reach Tale: The Fish People in Dark Places
Originally posted in r/teslore.
Found this gem in the new Reach lore: a story of what seems to be a Reach tribe's encounter with Falmer. Like many Falmer stories, it ends up with bloody, disturbing murders and stolen children. But this one stands out to me for its beginning.
The Fish-People in the Dark Places
Our first tale comes from a Reach vateshran, or history keeper, whose tribe lived in the mountains above Markarth for decades. Many years ago, she said, their scouts reported sightings of startlingly humanoid creatures coming and going from the caves below where the clan lived.
At first the clan thought these creatures to be goblins, yet these goblins were hairless, eyeless, and had dead-gray skin like that of a fish. These "fish-people," as the clan took to calling them, had never approached the camp and never attacked any Reachfolk. Yet the clan refused to take chances with such obvious abominations.
A Second Era account of Falmer living quietly and trying to keep out of the way of the humans living above ground. What are we to make of this?
The Falmer in this story do not stay non-violent, though.
The clan-chief formed a war party and led it into the caves below, determined to force out these fish-people and secure her clan's territory. Yet the party encountered no resistance, even after they searched all the caves. They found no sign of any fish-people inside, despite their scout's report that a number entered the caves mere hours before the war party arrived.
Later that night, in the darkest hours before the morning, the first attack occurred. Several Reachfolk were silently murdered, their bodies left gruesomely displayed, while others disappeared entirely. Once again, the clan-chief gathered her best hunters and strode into the caves. She planned to root out the fish-people who had attacked her clan and destroy them. And once again, a full day's search revealed only empty caves.
That night, the clan remained on full alert, but no more attacks came. Each night for weeks after, the clan posted pickets. Yet no more attacks came, and there were no more sightings of the fish-people. More than a month passed before the clan-chief finally allowed her clan to resume their normal patrols, and that same night, the fish-people struck again. This time, they left the bodies of several elders strung up on the mountain, and worse still, several children vanished entirely, never to be seen again.
The Falmer here act just like the ones we meet in Skyrim, but only after the Reachfolk declared war on them.
The Reach chieftain finally gives up on trying to destroy the Falmer in their caves, and just blocks them off.
Enraged by yet another cowardly attack and an egregious assault on the most vulnerable members of her clan, the clan-chief flew into a righteous fury. She called forth her witches and shamans, and summoned additional magic support from neighboring clans. One by one, they sealed the caves below the clan's land. She had them collapse each wound in the mountain with rage, magic, and force of will, and when they were done, there was nothing but heavy piles of broken rock where the caves once stood.
The clan remained wary for many months after, but no more attacks came, and no more fish-people were ever seen. The clan's clan-chief was wise to seal the caves, yet the lack of vengeance forever gnawed at her and her clan. Who were those fish-people, they asked, and how were they able to hide unseen in the caves?
This is more than a popular folk story, it's rooted in the oral tradition of a sacred tribe history-keeper: a type of historian. It can't be verified completely but this tribe believes that the Falmer they encountered were first peaceful and stuck to their own business.
Is that possible? I think it is. There surely must be variation among the Falmer. Gelebor says
"Perhaps they'll never return to their former appearance, but over the centuries, I've noticed a rise in their intellect.
That so-called rise in intellect seems to correspond with them coming above the ground and having negative interactions with the people at the surface. We see their cruelty and raids in Skyrim, but this Reach story suggests that some of those first encounters weren't like that. Some Falmer came out of the ground and as a result were targeted once again, like their non-betrayed ancestors.
Back in the Pocket Guide to the Empire, First Edition, which considers the Falmer of the late Second Era to be pure supersititon, the Altmer observer YR scribbled in the margins,
Uncle, I saw signs that might be Falmer boundary-runes, but nothing sure. If any survive, they are wary and withdrawn.
Perhaps, YR's possible boundary-runes were protection for such a population, trying to stay hidden and away from people.
Even if the Reach story is true, by the Fourth Era, the chance for any peace is probably lost. Aggression against and by the Falmer is a feedback loop. Because people expect the Falmer to be vicious, which they largely are, no one is looking for the Falmer who want to be just left alone. And the more people clash with the Falmer, the value of violence and terror and viciousness only becomes more important among the Falmer.
But those early encounters, maybe some of them could have gone another way entirely if the right people had been around.
Extra comments:
I had some objections that it’s not clear the Falmer in the story were peaceful. They could have been planning to attack the Reachfolk eventually.
I posted:
We can't, of course, conclude that these Falmer were peaceful or ready to co-exist with the locals on a long term basis. But caution and prudence can be just as beneficial to peace as a peaceful disposition.
However, when they finally are moved to attack, it appears that they had the easy upper hand over the Reachfolk. If they could so easily and without detection attack then and never be traced, they could have at any earlier time.
The Falmer response was cruel and seems disproportionate, given none of them were ever found, but it's the response of a people who were hunted into the ground to a force that came down into the ground in a war party to search for them. It wouldn't take much to turn such people from wanting to be just left alone to mortal enemies.
It's only a possibility of co-existences, but the story illustrates how such possibilities would never be explored. If every encounter with the Falmer began with the assumption they're enemies, there would never be a peaceful encounter. Which would in turn prove that the Falmer could never stay peaceful if left alone. And even if somewhere along the line there was a Falmer group that preferred to be peacefully left alone, that behaviour would get stamped out as self-destructive.
There was also a comment that YR might have found the boundary runes of the Forgotten Vale, an “unfallen” Snow Elf community.
I'm sure that was whom YR was looking for. And perhaps he did almost find the Chantry when he found those boundary runes. But there's another possibility: that he couldn't find the makers of the runes because he was looking for the wrong people, and would have scoffed at the Falmer being the scurrying creatures of Nord folklore. We know that the Falmer practice magic, they could still be using such magic as boundary runes.

— twenty1plus mun. they/them. 🐀
pratically shamelessly smut fishing. 60/40 to 80/20 smut/plot ratio. I have some ocs I'd like to use for some fandonless things. historical fantasy preferred, as most of these ocs fit into worlds that are like ( skyrim , dragon age , lotr , a song of ice and fire , etc ) but don't directly link to them. I write lazy lit to almost novella, but I'd like something more rapid fire ( 2 - 4 paras ) for this.
really looking for some down and nasty lmao, however I have a few limits. I would also like to include a little angst if possible, and to plot out a connection for our characters. I really don't want to write our characters as strangers. dead 🕊 content highly encouraged and wanted ( incest , noncon / dubcon , and more ). Mxf lean right now, following fxf, mxm, anyxany. I'm leaning more toward writing the f right now, since all I ever write is m, and I'm a bit bored of that. switches preferred, but I'm okay with your oc being a bottom/sub if we have a good plot. ( some of the plots I have in mind would be my oc as top/dom )
queer friendly, as some of my ocs aren't traditionally cis or straight whatsoever. ( the main oc I want to use isn't a traditional cis woman ) I want to write desperation, longing. I want to mix angst with need so much that it's almost painful for our characters. I'll list some wanted plots below with the ones I want to write bolded, but this isn't everything, and I'd love to plot with my partners to hammer out details;
( adopted mother x son , royal x councilman , some taboo sibling x sibling , old flame returning from war or something similar , reunited lovers , witch x hunter , royal x prisoner )
give a like and anon will get back to you

tried to search for one of your posts to no avail. it lists rpgs you're significantly interested in or have played, with varying exclamation marks, under Keep reading. could you send the link to it if you can find it?
Unfortunately it would be pretty difficult to find for me as well but given that it's likely out of date I will take this opportunity to try making a new one (hopefully won't forget anything either). Thank you for this!
This time rather than symbols I will just list them all under more specific categories. Some of these are likely to change over time as I play more of the games (I have not finished all of them).
The list below also excludes browser games and MMORPGs. It's also likely to be incomplete.

Something else I thought about doing is looking through old elder scrolls classes and making fallout characters based off them. Like a laser gun wield brother hood of steel witch hunter. Or agent being a charismatic stealth character whose besties with deacon. Idk feels more challenging and interesting to me then putting it in Skyrim because different world. Like where does a monk go in fallout. Some might not be possible but 🤷‍♀️

oh this might have to go under a cut huh
Ananduil (World of Warcraft) is an interesting case, and I say that because I'm lookin at his lore and I'm referencing shit I don't even remember. what the fuck is Ethereum? it's what his soul is made out of, apparently. Anand was originally a night elf, one of the Highborne, but after, you know, many many historical events, he became a blood elf, and eventually an Illidan Stormrage fucker demon hunter.
Dusk is my Hero of Oakvale, or Fable: The Lost Chapters protagonist. she was already a weird and unsettling child and then her whole town got torched and that kinda, you know, tipped the scales :V
she's an entity of the Void now, thanks to some cult shenanigans
gonna cross-reference this ask; Llovyn Arendur (TESV: Skyrim) is one of the results of Verys Arendur's outside-of-time meddling. I think Verys intended him to have a bigger role in what happens with Alduin, but this kalpa has its own ideas, and Ulfric Stormcloak became the Last Dragonborn (and a Redguard became the High King of Skyrim, lul)
however! Llovyn does do some of the stuff generally attributed to the LDB. like finding the Elder Scroll (and reading it, which cures the creeping madness that he'd been cursed with by a necromancer) and becoming Listener of the Dark Brotherhood. he also has dragon-related abilities because, like I said, Verys's intentions for Llovyn were different than what actually happened. it's complicated™
Mikkel/Nina Schadenfreude is an incubus. but-- okay, so, this is what I was sayin about some of these characters bein just utterly unhinged conceptually. this is how Mikkel came to be:
his parents couldn't conceive, despite their best efforts. so his father went to this swamp witch and got An Majykk Concoction to help boost his fertility. he and his wife fucked for forty-eight hours straight under the influence of the potion and it turned the husband into an insatiable sex fiend (he died of a heart attack from the strain on his circulatory system after a few months) but the wife was pregnant! so! you know! it worked :)
anyway the potion turned out to be the blood of a gancanagh, which is a type of fae known for their. prowess.
the woman ended up birthing nine children (believe it or not I made this character before I knew anything about Heimdall) and only one of them survived. this was Mikkel. and the blood that had given rise to his existence made him functionally an incubus.
Eve Nikolaos is a demon -- a high demon, a Sin-host. I was part of this friend circle of roleplayers and there were some throughlines that we maintained whenever one of us made an RP group simply bc we were used to them. Sin-host demons was one of those throughlines. the story is that in Hell there were seven high demons that were each assigned one of the seven deadlies (or "Dominions") to be "host" to -- to be the avatar of, to represent Hell's interests on Earth through that sin. their name would reflect whatever sin they were host to. Eve Nikolaos was also called Eve Avaritian, as she was the host to Greed.
Dom of Aurich.... okay. so when I was a young adult I was obsessed with this paranormal romance series called the Black Dagger Brotherhood. as imitation is the highest form of flattery (and also the first step to finding one's own writing voice), I ended up writing my own version of it, featuring a group of vampires called The Anathema who serve an entity called Semjura in the vague handwavy purpose of "fighting the bad guys (well, the worse guys)" on this battlefield called Earth. Dom was an analogue to the BDB character Zsadist, but dialed up to 11 and with even more edge added -- he basically only interacts with his Semjura-mandated spouse through D/s dynamics and not the safe or sane kind, either. it's bc he was raised that way, obviously. he's not the most interesting character in the Anathema (that would be Sinister, or possibly Cancer) but it's definitely a peek into what kind of nonsense I was into when I was 18, lmfao
