I finished watching the Petal Crash Story Mode last night. It's some sweet, crisp writing but I feel like the wordplay was a bit relentless? It very much reads like Zach Morrison's style, but it has more room to breathe in something like Paranatural, especially because then a lot of the wordplay can be assigned either to specific characters or, in the more recent format, the narration itself. But it's good stuff, don't get me wrong

It's all got me thinking about the nature of wishes and wish granting in narrative... In PCrash, Rosalia's route is the only one that more or less sort of confirms that the Blossoms' power is a real thing, and even then she sees it as almost a reflection of the power inherent in people themselves. In a story, wish-granting plot devices largely aren't themselves just literal wish fulfillment or, in contrast, wishing caveats; they reflect the nature of desire and acceptance and how perplexing it is to navigate it. What do you really want? Is that something that defines you? Can that change? Can you change it, and would you even want to? Is there really a "really want" there? Is the point of desire its fulfillment or desire itself? Is wanting things just a clever trick of nature to get you to move around?? What happens when two people's innermost desires are in conflict???

To this day I feel like what I want is very fuzzy and undefined and I'm not even completely sure I truly want to know. It's like thebit in Rosalia's route about the fear of doubt vs. the fear of certainty
