The older I get the more I realize my imposter syndrome comes from my bio parents forcing me to be something they’re not. They simply don’t identify as what they wanted their children to be. I realize the older I get you’re supposed to learn your culture/religion from your family. I learned from being in a mosque/the internet meeting random Muslims for the sole purpose of having Muslim friends and on a lesser level a community.

It’s taken me years to say this because I’ve had this uneasy feeling in me for awhile. It’s hard to say it because if THEY aren’t XYZ what am I?

If y’all have buses where y’all live is your bus company under a funny name too or is it just Hawaii that does it cause our main transports are literally just called “TheBus” and “The HandiVan” (van bus thing for disabled people) and I’ve always thought that the naming is ridiculous

(we do have nice schemes though)

And the bus is like, our main/ONLY public transportation thing too since we have like TWO trains here and the only one running is a museum (the other has been in construction for years. people make fun of how long they’ve been promising the rail to us but it keeps getting delayed and has costed millions)

Going off topic, speaking of the hart (the rail in top second pic) we just transitioned to this funny card for use between all of them because of it (actually there’s a just-made program that hs students can sign up for to get a whole year of free rides using this thing for nothing it’s amazing I have one and I just go wherever)

Reminds me of japan’s suica card that they use for everything as well!

ハワイのトレッキング：コロワル・トレイルからワアヒラリッジ・トレイルに上がり、ハワイ大学に下るの巻　TheBusでハイキング！

コロワル・トレイルまでの前半はこちら

左奥にダイヤモンドヘッド、両側を山に抱かれ、海に出口が開けたここからのマノアの眺望が大好きです。

タンタラスの丘をズームアップしてみます。

このワアヒラリッジをおしまいまで歩きます。

マノアの滝で有名なマノアの森の上には、シャワーの通過が頻繁なため、高確率で虹が見られます。今回は残念ながら、天候が良すぎて虹はゲットできませんでした。

途中、ちょっとした展望地の広場があり、この眺望をおかずにランチタイムに最適な場所です。ハワイの人たちはハイキングで弁当を食べるという習慣はありません。香港もそうでした。BENTOという食文化は定着しているようなのですが、なぜなのか未だ謎です。でも我々は気にせず、７イレブンのBENTOとかスパムムスビとかを外でいただきます。

それでは、歩を進めましょう。

六甲のロックガーデンのようなところもあり、

変化に富んで楽しいトレイルです。

ダイヤモンドヘッドがだんだん近くなってきます。

周囲の植生が変わってくると、

駐車場とトイレなどが備わったレクレーション広場に出ます。

ここからセントルイス・ハイツのバス停にエスケープして、残りの下りを端折ることもできます。

我々はさらに歩いて、下りをコンプリートします。

ここまで下りてくると、ビル街が大きく見えてきます。

トレイルはあちらこちらに枝分かれしていますが、大体どこかで合流するので、気にする必要はございません。

気にしなければいけないのは、疾走してくるマウンテンバイクです。

草刈りをしたり、コースに障害を造ったりとMTBの人たちが手を入れてくれているようなので、ここはハイカーではなく、MTBライダー優先で、道を譲りましょう。

いよいよダイヤモンドヘッドが間近になってきました。

ワアヒラリッジのしっぽです。

このあたりから左手に尾根を外れて下ります。

途中、舗装路（水道施設の管理道）には下らず、突っ切ると、ハワイ大学の近くに下山できます。
