My second attempt to find something similar to "Gone with the Wind" was the book "The Thorn Birds". I liked the novel very much, although "Gone with the Wind" is still a lot cooler. The books seem to be similar: the conquest of the land, a huge farm, the family business, plenty of characters, but there is one significant difference that radically changes perception. "Gone with the wind" describes ambitious protagonists with high aspirations and everyone causes sympathy in their own way, while almost all characters in "The Thorn Birds" are unassuming. I was reading and resenting "What are you doing, idiots!" However, reading is easy and interesting. The Dramatic and instructive end was a surprise for me, it made me look at the novel with a fresh eye. Thus, I recommend it for reading. PS. Now, within the framework of the project "find a book similar to "Gone with the Wind" I began to read "The Forsyte Saga". 📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚 Второй моей попыткой найти что-нибудь похожее на “Унесенные ветром” стала книга “Поющие в терновнике”. Вот это произведение мне очень понравилось, хотя “Унесенные ветром" все равно в разы круче. Книги вроде бы похожи: тоже покорение земли, большое поместье, семейное дело, множество персонажей, но есть и одно существенное отличие, которое в корне меняет восприятие. В “Унесенных ветром” герои амбициозные, с высокими стремлениями и каждый в по-своему вызывает симпатию, а в “Поющих в терновнике” почти все как один непритязательны - читаешь и возмущаешься: “Да что же вы творите!” Но читается легко и интересно. Драматичный и поучительный финал стал для меня неожиданностью и заставил посмотреть на прочитанное свежим взглядом. В общем, рекомендую читать. PS.
