hi fang <333 i took the mbti test again just for this LOL and got infj!! for awhile i used to get infp and then i think i got isfj once as well. id love to know my dynamic with mr nanami kento hehehe :3

i think since you have gotten ixfj twice im going to type you as an infj because i think that makes the most sense given when i know about you and the characters you tend to like (i.e gojo, nanami, zayne etc.)

this is not even bias but infj x istj are probably one of my favorite mbti pairs and also easily one of the most underrated. not everyone will get the vision BUT I DO and i can tell you right away what it is about the pairing i like. its not one you see often because they are so different, but there is something about it that just clicks when it does clicks. it requires a certain amount of sensitivity from the istj. in media i think you're most likely to see it as like.

infj is the vigilante character and istj are the ones who work for the nobility. they have a sort of ominous connection to one another that only makes sense to them.

i think a lot of you and nanamis relationship develops from the actual process of trying to understand the other person so it can feel like a bit of a slow burn. i know you're thinking fang. my liege, aren't all relationships like that? but honestly no. the difference mainly being that you and nanami i dont think carry strong first impressions of one another.

there is something almost like. fated about it in the strangest way. its not like something you do intentionally. you just keep running into one another and having these small conversations and each time - one of you comes away with a whole nother understanding of the person. there's not any strong intial Moment i think - even though i think you probably romanticize all of your little happenings anyway KJDSHJFSD. there's no linear timeline.

but you just keep appearing in each others lives. on the train. in the grocery store. this to me is the crux of how you connect to one another. i think for nanami, he is deeply attracted to your like... emotional depth is a way of phrasing it but that's not all of it. there is something strangely romantic in the traditional sense about how you carry conversations that just makes him stop to reconsider things. its a matter of reframing. like he wouldn't have seen it that way but the way you have and he can't deny that perspective either. you're very solid to him in that way.

similarly, you are almost helplessly attracted to nanamis skillfulness and the small ways he opens up to you unintentionally in conversation. there's kind of... idk how to describe it. a surprising naivety to him that makes you feel very fond of him. not in an obvious way. but just these small things in matters of emotions that really really makes you like grin to yourself. nanami is overall competent and in general this is a trait i think you like - but it's the limits of what he can be competent at that make you really fall for him. he is overwhelmingly sincere and yet sometimes so clueless. his ideas of romance are stiff but his attempts to court you are so genuine, and yet he still sometimes worries if he's doing a good job. its that specific part of him

he does his best to communicate that and i think thats why the relationship works so well. you make up for each others short comings - more than what meets the eye and it makes your relationship feel very seamless methinks .

so i wanna talk about my hcs/interpretations of otto's relationships to the rest of the psychic 7 because im very sane and normal. putting it under the cut cause theres quite a lot of text:

ford - the og boys. they're made for each other in that they're both fucking insane. i hate these freaks /pos. i like the idea of them having met in college. maybe they dated, maybe they didnt. i like both options. ford has 2 hands. i think after lucrecia joined the psychic 7, they startrd drifting apart which only intensified as more people joined and ford was the leader so everyone wanted to hang out with him, leading to him having less and less time for the og :( but i think that even when they dont talk much, they still have that innate comfortableness when being around each other. like. even just doing regular stuff together feels easy & effortless? but also i think they reconnect post-game!!! hooray for friendship!!!

lucrecia - my personal hc is that they met on an exchange trip in high school bc i dont think otto's grulovian, but i honestly also rly like the idea of them being childhood friends. goated hc. but anyway yeah they're also besties sobs…. on the surface, lucrecia is the calm yhat balances out otto's…. ottoness, but once you get to know her better, shes also insane. idk i dont rly have a lot of thoughts to put into words with these 2 but theyre BESTIES!!!!

cassie - they butt heads obviously, but theyre close methinks. i hc that cassie was the first to join the psy7 after the initial trio, so with ford and lucy too busy canoodling, i think they ended up hanging out a lot. i think cassie is good at pulling otto back down to earth when he gets too lost in the sauce and starts overcomplicating things compton - i think compton is truly the one person in the psychic 7 who being with is actually. quiet. calm. whatever. for otto. cause with everyone else its always high energy - even cassie, whos usually the calm, down to earth one of the group who grounds a dynamic, her personality happens to clash with otto's so they bicker a lot. but compton's gentle nature is a good match for those times where the Introversion hits otto. i think parallel play is their primary form of hanging out. also i think they both struggle with sleeping (otto cause adhd and compton cause anxiety) and it's just like an unspoken agreement between them that when one of them cant sleep they can always come talk. ALSO. i hc that compton also has somewhat of a knack for science (he helped build the gpc and astralathe 100%) so theyre scientist with the mind of an artist x artist with the mind of a scientist. amen. i love electric sheep

bob - my hc for them is pretty much the same as the commonly accepted fan interpretation. 10/10, no notes. theyre stoner buddies and i think they may have kissed a little. and maybe even…. no, i shant say. i listen to for forever from dear evan hansen and goodbye ms flower thief while thinking about them and just sit there feeling utterly despondent

helmut - NOW THIS. NOW THIS IS A DYNAMIC I THINK IS UNDERRATED. theyre so. UEEEEGHHHH. i think they're the type of silly goofy friends who joke around all the time. things that wouldn't normally be funny seem hilarious when they're together. SO MANY INSIDE JOKES. just a good time all around. i think helmuts also the first one to notice otto's Mental Problems post pn2. they're just uuueeghhh. its so so important to me how artistically oriented otto is despite being a scientist and helmut is an artist as well!!! so!!!! they're both so deeply creative and thats just everything. to me.

also honourable mention to the otto/helmut/bob trio bc i dont have anything to say about it that i haven't already said for otto/bob and otto/helmut but like i fucking love them as a trio. they're all so like. sensitive to the world. and creative. YEAH. good fucking trio i love this trio

ok i don't actually know if you are intending to talk about book!kate or show!kate but i will be mostly if not completely discussing show!kate rip if that was not what you meant but i've seen the show a lot more recently

OKAY. so. i'll start small with some headcanons:

kate is soooo autistic. and adhd. audhd my beloved. yes i say this about pretty much every character i like but with kate it's PARTICULARLY true. (i believe i said in the mbs server the book!kate feels like she has adhd with a side of autism while show!kate feels like she had autism with a side of adhd and i stand by that. but it's vibes based not like, literal.)

but like she can have trouble expressing her feelings, even to herself. she'll either be unable to hide her reactions/expressions, or she'll barely have one at all, and seem unbothered. she's also very blunt and unafraid to state her opinion to anyone, even if it seems "rude". but she isn't rude, really, as it's not that kind of "blunt truth" some assholes like to parade about when they're really just being dicks to everyone. she's still kind, she only says something negative if someone has done something negative (ie, "you are very unpleasant" to someone actively antagonizing everyone in the room is on the table, but just randomly insulting someone for the sake of "blunt honesty" is not. she's never like, mean.)

also shes GAYYYY. or possibly bi, i don't have an opinion on that. on one hand lesbian energy on the other i could definitely see bi bi bi. but if you don't think her and martina got something on i don't know what to tell you. that being said i could also see her as a-spec, but not necessarily in a way that conflicts with Whatever's Going On With Martina. (to be fair, hpwever, one could argue martina was more into kate than vice versa, i could see an argument for aro kate for sure)

green beanie is comfort beanie. she very rarely takes it off. where do you think she got it? angsty answer is somehow it's from her dad, but realistically she probably got it later in life. (doesn't mean she didn't choose it for similar reasons, though... not knowing why she was drawn to the green hat, not remembering it's the same shade as one her father wore....)

also the bucket. i do wonder when she got the bucket. this one, while again a milligan-related reason would be super fucked up (in the fun sad way), i feel like. i feel like it's more that as a kid she felt like she needed to be Prepared. maybe something happened where she wasn't, or maybe she just felt like she wanted to be ready, just in case, all the time. but like. her getting a bucket, modifying it herself, experimenting with different ways to put it on her belt, the inventory changing over the years as some things were discarded or added over time... idk i just think. kate developing her bucket

kate & constance was so good and i want to see more of their friendship. so bad. each realizing the other isn't so bad bc they're forced to work together... chefs kiss. also, the only person other than mr benedict we really see constance actually seem to openly like in some capacity.

kate & sticky underrated. their talk before the cheating was such a good scene. i also want more of this dynamic

i should also mention kate & reynie, which i do genuinely like--the hug is sweet--but i admit is my maybe least favorite of the society dynamics with kate. although i do enjoy the contrast between kate "IM GONNA GO CLIMB THAT TOWER" wetherall and reynie "please why am i the only voice of reason holding this group together" muldoon

i've only explored it in that one fic but i actually think kate & mr benedict would be such a good dynamic, especially because in the show it's inexplicably established he's into engineering. LET THEM BOND OVER BUILDING WEIRD SHIT PLEASE

okay to get a little more into specifics methinks,

i just think a lot about kate like. immediately after season one, and--we'll just. we'll ignore season 2 for now, let's set this in my current anomalous idea of them all in season one (which, rip wetherall farm, but is currently number two & rhonda off at the airshows with mr benedict, constance, milligan, and kate in the house) so like just.

you've been alone your entire life. you've been independent, and you've grown up thinking that the only person you ever had just left you one day for no reason, and in doing so broke a direct promise. and then now, you not only have friends who've you learned to rely on and not just try and do everything yourself, but suddenly you have reliable adults. and more importantly, more specifically, your dad, who never left you but had been taken. had been erased, and even brainswept had never truly stopped looking.

and kate isn't stupid. she heard his story. she knows he must have been through Some Shit. and that he'd have come back if he could. but there's still that pain, that ache, of how long he was missing, for like, more than three quarters of her life! he vanished when she was 3! but now it's like. oh. he did want me. he was taken. he was taken.

so that's an almost identity altering shift in her worldview. and on top of that, her current world is now so completely different: rather than independence and circus life, she's got friends her age who genuinely like her, who she's bonded with through major adversity, and she has adults who actually listen to her and like her. and she has her dad.

and it grates sometimes--she's independent, she doesn't need to be treated like a baby! but also it's like. it's bizarre, because they care, but they don't condescend to her, they do understand she's intelligent and capable even if they want to protect her. and she's never really had adults like that before. not since she was three

so it's a weird mix of like being sort of happy/pleased, because they care, she can rely on them, and being kind of annoyed/frustrated because while she's learned she doesn't need to be entirely independent she still struggles with it. because she's kate wetherall, and she's always prepared, and she feels like she has to be prepared for what will happen if they leave if they're taken from her. she can't rely on them completely, can she? what happens when she loses them again?

and then the mix feelings of old long-buried resentment/anger under buried sadness/loneliness under a crisp crust of i'm perfectly fine, mixed with the new feelings of anger on his behalf, at curtain, sadness at the missing time, at how close he'd been for all these years without either of them knowing it, sadness for him, for herself. but like all of it is still like. under her trying to pretend like she's fine. (and her difficulty expressing emotions, even to herself, does Not Help.)

not to mention as much as genuinely loved the mission in some ways--her new friends (including martina), the adventure, helping people, her bucket coming crazy in handy, etc.--it wasn't exactly a cake walk.

she has nightmares, sometimes: about martina's face when she walked into the waiting room. about sticky's face when he walked out of it. about falling and falling and falling except there aren't warm, safe arms to catch her. about the nodes attached to her face and the long, metallic spires pointed at her, ready to wipe her like her father had been wiped. about her father leaving and never coming home, never being found. about being caught. about losing her friends. about curtain. about all of it.

but she doesn't want to share it because one, she doesn't want them to feel guilty: she did what she had to, and she doesn't regret it. two, and more importantly, she doesn't want them to not let her come on the next mission. (kate had already kind of had the idea that they would have another--they were a team! teams didn't just split up!--but now she's sure of it. curtain's still out there, after all, and he didn't seem the type to just give up.)

i think maybe constance might bully her into talking about it--we already know she can feel dreams (with her comment about sticky dreaming about steak and sticky asking her how she knew that) and as they're on a more even ground she'd be more likely to actually say something. but constance would poke at her about it and probably get her irritated in the process.

(also possible, she talks to mr benedict about this, bc again im a sucker for their dynamic + part of the problem is not wanting to hurt milligan's feelings, and one thing i like about this is i think mr benedict would be extremely kind and understanding about it, and really help like, gently guide her through it, and she'd be like wow adults have never actually helped me before, wild, and then the second she leaves he's like [collapsing into a mess] oh god. oh god. because on one hand he just desperately hopes that helped, and on the other hand, he's having a million crises. oh god. he put actual kids in danger. she's so small number two. number two she's so fucking small and she's having nightmares and it's my brother that took her dad and ohmygodohmygodohmygod. like literally it's like he goes from "kalm" to "PANIK" the second shes out of range. like the dissonance between mr benedict (around the kids, a calm and kindly mentor who seems to know what he's doing for the most part) and nicholas (0.0003 seconds from a panic attack rn, full to the brim with anxiety and guilt) is. hilarious, in a sad way. but i digress, mr benedict tangent over, sorry)

ANYWAY also kate and milligan. like. getting to know him again, and vice versa. this is personally painful for me. like so many years, this disconnect between them hurts, but like. it starts with that hug, with her letting herself lean into his side, letting him put an arm around her shoulders, and he's like. in tears a bit. and like. then over time just. trying to tell each other about their lives--particularly kate recounting her adventures--and marveling a bit at how similar they are in many ways. milligan slowly getting memories back and remembering her as a little girl and seeing her now, all grown up but so small and hurt still, and like. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

i also have so many thoughts head full on them & mr benedict, and also throwing in constance and everyone really, but that's too many and this is already long and i dont even know how to put it to words so i'll refrain for now. anyway my point is: kate wetherall. hug her please

2. Objectively World Tour is the best season hands down but favorite?? That has to go to ROTI. I love the characters, for one, but mostly the memories + emotions it brings back. I watched it for the first time with my sister on my mom's office provided ipad mini with crap wifi on 360p while on a car trip when I was like, 8 or 9 (it was lagging so bad), and it was the season I rewatched most when I was younger since it was shorter and had my favorite cast. I'd pick Ridonc too (I'm also extremely nostalgic over it) but it's a spinoff and over hyperfixating on this show again I grew an appreciation for Revenge.

3. God. The most lukewarm take you'll ever hear; it's All Stars. Pahkitew at least didn't derail all of its characters but All Stars?? It's conceptually sound and visually stunning for a td season and it also brought one of my favorite total drama ships ever and made me fall in LOVE w/ girlboss and malewife/maleloser dynamics AKA SCOTTNEY but it was still awful. Especially in the handling of Mal. I'm not a system, so I don't want to comment on it more than I have. But I just feel it's in poor taste.

17. I answered this before already but I will give another one because there are quite a few methinks. I think Sam's pretty underrated! He's a very decent character for what he had in ROTI and his romance with Dakota was extremely adorable! I also like when he spouts game console parodies like the Swii idk it just sounds funny to me (also I'm not acknowledging AS Sam I don't even remember what he did there)

Me, Clockie Radioactivesupersonic, loving Lotor as a character???? The very idea. 

In less mocking news I’ve been pretty much consistently excited about Lotor since pre-s2. I kid you not- my earliest meta on the subject was analyzing the “Weblum Galra” (Acxa’s s2e9 appearance) from the s2 trailer and speculating that was either Lotor or an agent thereof. I did a comic about it.

Whether or not you agree with every decision of VLD’s writing, it’s visually gorgeous and Lotor is no exception. VLD’s offering of Lotor is easily one of my aesthetic favorites- the DDP design is a good contender and the classic poncho is an interesting statement, but, ultimately, the sleek blue-black armor, the added volume to his hair, even personalizing touches like those electric blues and the curl of hair next to his face are very nice touches. The “Mulan” strand in particular does a nice job adding a sense of youthfulness to his design, and AJ LoCascio does such a good job giving him this rolling, statesman’s eloquence. 

hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff

Lotor’s a raven who makes occasional passes at imitating a snake, methinks. He values power and loyalty, can be brash in certain situations, and is quite diligent, but, ultimately what Lotor respects the most is the pursuit of knowledge. Basically every time Lotor’s overcome a wall, it’s because when the going got hard, he hit the books. Given he started studying Altea towards his exile, it raises the clear implication that he responded to feeling bereaved and alone by seeking more information, and used that information to build a sense of belonging.

best quality:

Probably his sense of strategic observation, opportunism, and ambush tactics. It’s just a real delight to watch an effective strategist, especially one like Lotor where he’s not quite a villain so you can actually root for his plans to succeed.

worst quality: 

I mean, the part where he keeps ending up alone after his interpersonal connections spectacularly self-destruct and he cuts them off out of fear, but that’s not exactly mostly on him, now is it HAGGAR.

Did you know that before s4 I had a pet theory that Lotor had met the Generals when they all were children and they’d grown up together. I still think about that.

I genuinely deeply love Lance. And not just because I genuinely deeply love Heart aspect characters in general. He totally blindsided me as far as VLD characters- I latched hard onto Keith and Pidge first, then Shiro. Lance took a long, hard time growing on me! (I love Hunk and Allura too, they just didn’t do time as my Reigning Fave before Lotor stole that particular crown)

Which I think is kinda hilarious, since, uh, well, Lance is probably the character out of VLD I think I have the most in common with, and I think leaping to the notion that the rest of the cast is just a little more interesting than Lance is a very Lance thing to do.

I stand by what I said with Lotor, VLD is a nicely designed show, and Lance is cute. You wanna ruffle his hair. I’d say he doesn’t have any particularly striking or eye-catching features. A lot of his appeal as a character is less his physical features or clothing and more the body language with which he wears those things.

Of the Hogwarts headcanons I’ve posted this is one people often fight me on and I think this is because of a differentiation- I think people often sort characters based on who’s good at the particular House’s virtue, and not what they value. Knowledge takes many forms, and Ravenclaw isn’t obligatorily the domain of the most erudite- that would be pursuing a single, narrow facet of knowledge which doesn’t exactly speak to the wisest.

To me, Lance is a Ravenclaw because he’s motivated heavily by curiosity. He’s earnestly fascinated by people, by the world, by situations. We can tell a lot from the characters by how they respond to their Lion first meeting them- and Lance’s reaction to Blue is basically to just stroll right in and make himself at home. As soon as Blue seems like someone who has something to say, Lance is all ears. 

best quality:

I mean, it’s not exactly unforgivable but definitely the one that tends to bite him the most often is his tendency to just wildly try things when he’s got no expertise in a given area/ isn’t sure.

The Langst crowd. In seriousness, can’t think of anybody that’s a Lance-specific hazard and not generally bad for everyone else’s health.

Shiro’s come through a lot, and, while I think there are some ways he could have been fleshed out more, it’s really good to see him back on his feet again and I’m optimistic about this thing with the IGF Atlas. He really lights up when he’s on the bridge, and it’s nice to see.

Given the amount of thirst art I see about him, it’s fair to say the fan consensus of Shiro is he’s way hot, and I do think he looks very handsome and charming but I don’t quite find him an Unstoppable Stud of a man. Being fair to Shiro this is probably a lot more to do with my sexuality than anything about his looks.

Josh Keaton aired this as his personal headcanon and, honestly, I’d see it. While Shiro is brave, and can and will challenge things directly that he sees as wrong, his greatest successes as a character are games of endurance. Both of his dry, sarcastic comments- one in s2e2 and one in s7e6- involve a cheerfully recited Long List of things that have failed to kill him so far. And what stands out about him to Keith in s7e1, their first meeting, isn’t the charismatic foot Shiro puts forwards- it’s his refusal to give up on Keith.

best quality:

All of the paladins get angry at cruelty, but Shiro has this particular eviscerating fury that really only comes from someone who passionately, earnestly believes in a good world and cannot tolerate the idea that you’re breaking from it.

worst quality: 

His tendency to put himself second and suffer in silence for long periods. He’s the biggest advocate of teamwork and the last one to open up about drowning, even when the water’s up to his chin.

ship them with: 

Adam, in that... as much as we saw him at a chapter of conflict, I’m a little frustrated at the note it ended on. I think it’d be really interesting to see more out of these guys- their stubbornness, strength of will, and, also, their connection and how much they care about each other.

brotp them with: 

His team, of course, but, honestly, he and Allura make a darn good platonic power couple. Let’s see more situations like s1e10.
