Happy New Year!!

With the come of the new year comes so much promise and hope, but also a lot of regret and sadness. This year proved to be a lot more than any of us were prepared to handle. I feel as though I should be transparent on this blog. The sole purpose of it is for me to have an outlet for all these emotions I bottled up for a year. I’m sure we all did. It’s hard to have a moment to cry when your main concern is keeping the lights on. For those of you who didn’t have to struggle through this financially you are incredibly blessed, and for those who did. You are not alone and all though it hard, I hope you can find some comfort in a friend... me. 

My name is Jade and 2020 sucked ass. The year started with a breakup and not just breakup but one that Aphrodite could not have prepared herself for. My boyfriend of a year cheated on me with my room mate, my best friends mom, his former fiance, and to many more to name. I had no idea. Blinded by love, or what ever excuse we use to makes ourselves feel better for being so stupid. On top of that he had also been stealing money out of our savings account which for better words should have just been my account as I was the only one putting money into it. Again love brain at its finest. Well you’ll be glad to know I immediately kicked his cheating ass out. My room mate promptly followed, but not before I informed her mother that she had left some things at the apartment (ie her stripper pole and heels). I know it was petty but I practically raised this girl. Any who moving on

Amazingly a month later I met the love of my life, let’s just call him Casper. Now, this man is perfect in almost every way. I like to tell myself he just has a really bad habit, like sucking your thumb, or biting your nails. But this isn’t something so simple, no matter how much I wish it was. Just imagine meeting your prince. He pays the bills, gives you all the affection you need, gifts, trips, and you can bring him home to the family, but theres just this thing. This thing thats bad for him that he can’t stop. I’m going to be blunt Casper is addicted to Heroin. It’s been a battle he’s had for a long time. And one he’s never tried to hide from me. Which is why I love him all the more. 

All of this was to say 2020 reached it’s peak when my mother committed suicide in September. My boyfriend had been spiraling back into active addiction and hearing of her death sent him over the edge. She had been living with for a few months after she and her husband decided to separate. I swear when she was here, you would have never been able to see her pain. She was so strong. And she was so kind. You might actually know of her. Before she died I’m proud say my mom was tiktok famous. Which for a woman with no education, in her 50′s, and exiting her third marriage was quite the accomplishment. She amassed over 80,000 followers, and some of them even reached out to me after she died. 

In my eyes her death is still a mystery. There were some very strange circumstances that occurred before my mother drove down to South Carolina and shot herself in front of her soon to be ex husband. But we’ll get into that another time, and I really don’t have enough proof to ruin the man. But I do find it odd that he told her where the gun was. We’ll leave it at that. It’s been three months now and I haven’t heard anything from the detective on her case. I don’t know if its still on going. Or if the small town they were in liked the  numbers a suicide provided as opposed to a murder. Its no matter though, I’ve told myself with the new year I will leave my sorrow behind. 

I want to bring forth a better Jade. One who knows what she wants, demands respect, and appreciates the little things. This is the year for me to sow my oats. and I’m ready to get to work. I have three main goals for this year. 

1. Consistently work on my side hustles 

2. Commit more time to self care

3. DOWNSIZE, DOWNSIZE, DOWNSIZE!!

I’m tired of living in excess. It would be nice to live within my means for once and stop putting up a charade of wealth. I’m broke, so what! I have a man who loves me, a roof over my head, and food in my stomach. There is nothing to want for. 

Any who...HAPPY NEW YEAR MOTHER FUCKER !!! Leave it all in the past and lets try and work together for a better future.

Rest In Power to the one and only Ricky Powell. I heard him name checked in a Beastie Boys song and legend has it they got some of their style from him.
