I Got Really Into Anti/Proship Discourse And Read +30 Academic Studies - My Findings

(It’s a Yapfest but the whole post is a very long essay and study on morality and fiction and children’s safety and rape culture with a fuckton of freely accessible academic articles and resources on the subject, and I want to talk to other people about it. For a shorter abstract with all the articles and more easily ignored yapping, see my shiny new Carrd:)

It’s been a little shocking lately to have certain discussions with some parts of fandom. I spoke about shipping/harassment and how that contributes to the death of fandom on TikTok assuming that younger folks are just really, really intense about preventing sexual violence, but the more I saw the words “morally wrong” and “disgusting” and “addiction,” the more I thought about this guy-

That’s Jerry Falwell, and I fucking hate this dead guy. You see, Jerry Falwell was a preacher who hated porn, feminism, and homosexuality. And I'm seeing his rhetoric and reworked quotes a lot.

Jerry would say stuff like:

“Pornography hurts anyone who reads it - garbage in, garbage out.”

“Someone must not be afraid to say ‘moral perversion is wrong.’ If we do not act now, homosexuals will ‘own’ America!”

Jerry wanted people to believe that it’s possible to see so much sexual content that it warps your sexuality, because he was gay and wanted to think that was due to thinking about gay sex too much. Jerry did not have a lot of evidence to prove that homosexuality was harmful, so he relied heavily on how “morally distasteful” it seemed to be to suburban Americans.

I spent the majority of my teen years arguing against Jerry’s rhetoric for the right to live as a lesbian online, and I never thought I’d see morality rhetoric in people I’m otherwise very politically aligned with. And I definitely never thought fandom of all things, in all its beautiful subversive glory, would seriously start advocating for censorship, anti-porn, and to consume fanwork with moral purity.

So, I’d like to have a deeper discussion on it, both here on Tumblr and on TikTok, but that does mean checking a few things at the door:

Personal feelings decide your personal life. What you feel is valid for you, not anyone else.

In general, things that do not cause direct and undeniable harm should not be broadly prohibited just because they’re weird or distasteful to the majority of folks. Ex. Loitering does not cause harm and is a tool of systemic oppression.

The discussion of “fictional CSEM” is the most inflammatory fork of this and it is often used to derail these kinds of conversations. This is all I will say on it - the legal status of explicit visual depictions of minors is muddy. In the US, there is just one dude in Utah who pled guilty for possessing explicit lolicon he bought by mail order without also possessing CSEM with real children, and explicit writing about fictional minors has been settled as protected free speech. Dedicated organizations from the NCMEC to Chris Hansen have asked that fictional content is not reported as CSAM as it is not actionable and clogs up finite resources. 90% of NCMEC reports were not actionable last year. There are studies suggesting that virtual CSEM or other non-victim alternatives could reduce actual child harm, but there is need for further research.

We’re all in agreement that untagged NSFW is not cool, and kids deserve kid-only sections of the internet. People who are triggered by or dislike problematic content deserve to be able to not see it. 👍

 (I’ve seen the argument that blocking tags/people should not be required - sorry, PTSD still requires that you manage your triggers, up to and including swearing off platforms just as I have sworn off bars/soap brands/etc to avoid my triggers.)

I have found a lot of accessible and free articles and studies that I will link throughout so that we can discuss the fact-based reasoning, in an effort to have a civil conversation.

(Also because we are not flat earthers, we are Fandom, and if we’re going to be annoying little shitheels in an “Um Actually” contest, we’re going to have the sources to back it up.)

Minors and Explicit Material

I’m not supporting minors engaging with explicit material. I have such little interest in the subject that I’m not even going to bring in articles, but you can feel free to. I personally engaged with explicit material as a preteen of my own free will and did not find it to be harmful, and the majority of people throughout human history have been exposed to explicit material at an early age with varying degrees of harm. There are undeniable legal and harm-driven differences between a 12 year old girl looking at Hustler on her own, a 14 year old boy being sent nudes from a grown woman, and a 6 year old viewing PornHub. (And I think the guardians of that 6 year old should be charged with grooming just like the woman, tbh.)

Personal Disclaimer

I’m an adult survivor of CSA and incest. I’m a happily married adult. I don’t personally like lolicon/shotacon/kodocon. I don’t like kids. I don’t like teens. I’m personally not attracted to underage fictional characters. I have family, the idea of fucking any of them makes me want to throw up and die, so I don’t write or read RPF of my family.

I am really, really fucking intense about preventing sexual violence, supporting survivors, and fandom, which is where this all comes from.

I read and love problematic fiction - my favorites are ASOIAF, Lolita, and VC Andrews. The most “problematic” thing I’ve personally written are Lucifer/Michael fics from Supernatural back in 2012. They are “brothers” in CW Christ, not blood. They do not have any blood.

Gen Z and Online Grooming

In 2002, a survey of 1500 minors from 10-17 found that 4% had been solicited for sexual purposes by an adult online.

In 2023, that number increased to 20%.

While the linked 2023 Thorn report suggests that the vast majority of these inappropriate interactions happened on platforms that allow for interpersonal communication, which by and large minors were greatly discouraged from and had less access to in the early 2000’s, a trauma-informed approach does not allow for blame to fall on the children. The guardians of those children have monumentally failed to restrict and educate before giving children the means to access those platforms.

It is my uncited but personal opinion that the increased rate of grooming, as well as an increased interest in combating rape culture, has led to well-intentioned individuals to become digital vigilantes attacking those who they hold responsible for their traumatic experiences in a search for catharsis and justice denied for themselves as well as a desire to make the internet safer for other children, whom they are increasingly aware are entering online spaces unsupervised at distressingly young ages.

Is harassment and bullying bad for perpetrators of it?

Before we get into how ship-related hate campaigns do not affect predation or combat rape culture, we should acknowledge that it’s actually pretty harmful for the people who cyberbully. Not just in the legal/social consequences, but people who participate in cyberbullying and cyberhate campaigns have higher rates of depression, estrangement from their parents, self-effacing habits, social anxiety, lower empathy, and so forth.

One study suggests that the treatment and prohibitive for cyberbullying, which contributes to a culture of cyberhate and a lower likelihood to report or confront other incidents of harassment or toxicity online, can be combatted with media competency to increase empathy along with other important life skills.

Some Common Pro-Censorship Myths

“Pornography is Addictive/Consumption of Pornography Leads to Increasingly Hardcore Imagery And Ultimately Real-World Violence” - The American Psychological Association does not recognize Porn Addiction as real and the DSM-5 does not classify it as an addiction. Additionally, many methods used in articles claiming that porn is addictive or causes users to seek out more hardcore material were flawed or biased. There is actually some evidence that compulsive porn use, the closest you can get to a porn addiction diagnosis, is associated with shame and the user’s belief that pornography is morally wrong, which sex-negative attitudes encourage.

“Jaws caused shark culling” - That's unfortunately a simplification that ignores a LOT of surrounding context. WW2’s modern naval battles with an increase of ship sinkings and thus contact with sharks prompted the invention and use of shark repellant by aviators and sailors in the 1940’s. The most deadly and famous shark attack of all time was the USS Indianapolis sinking in 1945, which led to 12-150 deaths. The 1974 book Jaws by Peter Benchley, which was the entire basis of the movie, was inspired by One Fucking Dude who started shark hunting tours and overall seemed to have a really immaculate vibe. The interstate highways that finished in the 1950’s increased beach tourism in the 60’s and onwards, inspiring the American surf culture, further increasing the cultural desire to purge sharks for the new swath of beachgoers and their fondness for using surfboards which make them look like seals to sharks. Additionally, 1975’s Jaws inspired a huge desire for education about sharks, and the relationship between problematic media and education will be the core of this yapperoni pizza.

“The Slendermen Killings/Other Fiction Inspired Crimes” - The ACLU states that “There is no evidence that fiction has ever driven a sane person to violence.” Inspired crimes are indeed no less tragic, and thankfully rare, but people who suffer from inability to discern reality and fiction do not necessarily need fiction to commit violence. The “Son of Sam” murder spree was not inspired by a book or movie, but instead Berkowitz’ auditory hallucinations.

“Violent videogames DO cause violence” - After a great deal of funding and study, the American Psychological Association has concluded that teens and younger may have increased feelings of aggression and not necessarily physically violent outbursts as a direct effect, but older teens and young adults do not encounter statistically meaningful rates of aggression.

“Your brain can’t tell the difference between fiction and reality” - Factually incorrect. Children as young as 5 years old can tell the difference, and they can even be more suspicious about “facts” that come from sources they know also host fiction, such as TV shows.

“This stuff shouldn’t be online because it can be used to groom a child” - While I could not find specific statistics on how often pornography is used to desensitize child victims, nor how often that is specifically used in online grooming, and especially not how much of that pornography is made from fictional characters - out of a mixed group of convicted offenders with adult and child victims, 55% of offenders used pornography to manipulate their victim. I would never refute that explicit fanart or fanfic could be used to desensitize a child, but that is by far not the only tool (asking about sexual experiences/identity, making jokes, etc is extremely common grooming behavior), and there is no evidence to suggest that it is used to a statistically significant degree. In my own anecdotal experience, normal vanilla legal pornography is used with far greater prevalence, and there isn’t a similar movement to shame its production for that possibility. Nor should the creators of any material, pornographic or otherwise, share blame in the actions of a predator.

The Fiction Affects Reality Carrd

(No hate to the person who made it, in fact I give props to them for trying to find unbiased sources, I just want to point out that their interpretations of their articles are kinda flawed and one of their studies is a kind of a perfect example on small and culturally biased samples.)

Reading Fiction Impacts Aggressive Behavior - (I cannot access the full study but this article is the primary source used in the Carrd and it goes into detail) - A study showed that 67 university students were more annoyed with a loud buzzer after reading a short story about a physical fight between roommates compared to a story with nonviolent revenge. However, this study was conducted at Brigham Young University, the same campus where we got a whole video series of hot ethical takes like “I’d rather shoot a kitten than drink coffee,” so uh. Yeah. Kind of a prime example on why it’s important to have large and culturally varied sampling. (Another BYU study with 137 BYU students being odd about moral ambiguity in fiction, just because I’m starting to add Dr. Sarah M. Coyne to my list of “Sarah’s That I Dislike.”)

Your Brain on Fiction - a NYT article that describes Theory of the Mind and how fMRIs captured how readers’ minds would light up centers of muscle control when reading sentences like “Peter kicked.” The quote “The brain, it seems, does not make much of a distinction between reading about an experience and encountering it in real life; in each case, the same neurological regions are stimulated” is speaking of motor functions. Emotional centers of the brain were not included in the study.

How Fiction Changes Your World - a Boston Globe article that actually describes how people who read more fiction are more empathetic and tend to believe in a just world. It does not state that the empathy a reader feels for fictional characters extends to corrupting their moral compass. In fact, there’s such a thing as a “fictive license” to explore taboo themes more thoroughly because it is not real - 123 participants were interviewed after watching two actors play the part of detective and murderer being interviewed, and participants who were told it was fake had more varied and inquisitive responses.

The Social Impact of Books - Actually reuses the previous study about the just world, so point remains. Empathy is understanding, not mirroring.

Is Problematic Fiction Good for Survivors of Trauma?

It absolutely depends on the individual.

Writing expressively about traumatic experiences has been shown to be effective to reduce depression, or more effective in reducing dysphoria and anxiety than talking to fellow survivors, and Written Exposure Therapy is broadly prescribed to survivors of trauma, with one study centering on car crash survivors finding that WET resolved their PTSD symptoms and continued to be effective after a year.

In this study, which sadly is not available online but it is too important to leave out completely, survivors of CSA were given fictional novels about CSA and in closely reading and analyzing those stories, were able to understand their own experiences and were indeed drawn to write about their own experiences as well.

Engaging in problematic fiction, like all fiction, allows for consent as well as control. If at any point a survivor does not feel in control or wishes to stop, they can at that instant. They can even rewrite their narratives and take control of their story in fictionalizing and changing the account. They can even try to understand what their abuser felt through fiction, which is helpful considering that the vast majority of survivors had a relationship that had been positive and even loving with their abusers at times.

Is Problematic Fiction Good for Everyone Else?

It again depends on the individual.

Antis might be a little right that most people don't want to read problematic stories. In a study exploring whether fiction can corrode morals, 83% of study participants stated that they would prefer not to read a short story justifying baby murder if they had the choice, even if that exploration isn’t inherently harmful.

This very small sample study of 13 participants discussed how young women interpreted sexual themes in writing, including explicit fanfiction, and how that was beneficial and informative to explore sexual desire and examine healthy and unhealthy relationships in a safe and controlled environment.

This meta-analysis further discusses how problematic and sexual themes in YA literature are useful to illustrate what sexual violence looks like, and begin educational conversations through those depictions to break down harmful myths such as “if she didn’t scream, she wanted it.”

Empowered by the “Fictive License” previously cited, problematic fiction can be beneficial for anyone who desires and is capable of consuming and analyzing it.

This study analyzing abusive aspects of three films - Beauty and the Beast, Twilight, and 50 Shades of Gray - concluded that these abusive themes should be discussed to increase recognition and awareness, not censored based on those problematic themes.

This study of 53 women were asked to read different versions of fictional intimate partner violence flags, or “toxic behavior” like surveillance, control, etc. In every version of the story, whether the female or male had those behaviors either courting or committed, the women recognized the behavior as wrong.

Another study that reading allows for the moral laboratory to explore morality in fiction without decisive impact to corroding moral permissibility.

Is There Ever Any Point Where Fictional Interests Definitively Speak On Someone’s Morality?

In short - not really. Loving Jason Vorhees does not put you at risk of murdering campers as long as you know he’s not real. Writing Wincest does not mean you look forward to family reunions, as long as you know incest isn’t okay in the real world. The real world, where real people are harmed, is where you find the measure of someone’s character.

This Psychology Today article is the best source I could find for quotes from a fantastic book ‘Who's Been Sleeping in Your Head? The Secret World of Sexual Fantasies’ by Brett Kahr regarding taboo sexual fantasies and how they are not only common, but not inherently harmful.

There are people who enjoy problematic media in an entirely nonsexual sense, of course. I myself don’t get off on problematic media - I think it’s just interesting to explore different experiences, and I think that can be revolutionary.

Additionally, fantasies in general have almost always been in the vein of “things you don’t want to really happen in reality.” In a study of 351 asexuals, more than half reported that they fantasize about having sex, but that doesn’t mean that they actually want to. You can fantasize about dating Billie Eilish - it doesn’t mean that you’d be happy dealing with celebrity culture.

(I personally fantasize about the internet being just for adults, but in practice I think that would be incredibly harmful and isolating for at-risk youth and LGBTQ teens) Fantasies always pluck out only the bits of reality that you want to engage with.

If You Get Off On Fictional Kids, You’re Attracted to Something About Them Being Kids

Not inherently, surprisingly. Wearing a schoolgirl uniform is a pretty common roleplay, and it’s not meant to “fool” the participants into thinking they’re indulging in pedophilia. There’s a wealth of emotional and sexual nuance in that specific kink - innocence and virginity play, tilted power dynamics in ‘scolding’ the uniform wearer for dress code violations, even the concept of a sexually provocative “teenager” can be played with without shame, because the world of fetish and fantasy is separated from condonable actions for the vast, vast majority of adults. (The only study I could find on this is this small study of 100 white guys found on Facebook, which itself states it is not definitive, found that while there might be correlation between attraction to children and interest in schoolgirl uniforms, there is no proof of causation. AKA, the rectangular pedophile might indeed like square schoolgirl uniforms, but not everyone - in fact, the majority at nearly 60% in this very survey - that likes square schoolgirl uniforms is a rectangular pedophile.)

Even sexual age play between adults is not indicative of pedophilia because it exists in a setting between two adults who fully understand that the mechanics are completely fake, allowing the power dynamics that would be abusive between an adult and child to be ethically explored.

I don’t have an official-looking study to cite, but I have asked people who like content about underage fictional characters why they do so. Overwhelmingly, a lot of the ones who like underage age gaps like the fantasy of an older and more experienced character taking a younger one under their wing, to have the opportunity to commit violent and blatantly objectifying harm and yet try to create what inevitably does not truly pass as consent, but seems near enough to the characters. Some think that the characters themselves have an interesting chemistry. Some read underage fic and still imagine the characters as adults. Some like to explore the feelings of shame that the older character must feel and how they mentally compartmentalize to go forward with the relationship, and how the younger character found themself in that vulnerable position - which is exploring a harmful situation through fiction to understand how it could play out in real life.

People who like fictional incest like exploring the shameful components of that taboo relationship - and I have seen a lot of works that compare how bad incest could be to other harms, like the Gravecest route in a game with parental cannibalism. And then there are folks who like analyzing the codependency of having one person fulfill every social need - family, friend, lover, AKA Wincest.

What makes a predator if it’s not just sexual attraction?

90% of CSA survivors know their abuser, discrediting the still-entirely-too-popular Stranger Danger myth. And shockingly, only 50% of abusers are pedophiles.

That means 50% of child molesters do not have sexual interest in children because they are children, but they victimized children because they are more accessible in lieu of adult partners, with increased rates of incest.

While I could not find a specific study on the relation between dehumanization/objectification of child victims and child molesters (and if you find one, please send it to me!), this study speaks on dehumanization as a precursor to adult sexual violence.

This study, conducted on convicted child molesters in prison, showed that child molesters tend to fantasize about children while in a negative mood, further contributing to the theory that child victims are dehumanized prior to abuse.

This very small sample study found that in a mixed sample of internet only/contact crime/mixed offenders, offenders who had contact with children had lower rates of fantasizing about children.

In short, half the time a child predator is someone who wants to offend against a child regardless of attraction to the fact they are a child.

Resources To Recognize Grooming/Abuse Victims/Predators

I would absolutely be remiss to not share my collection of resources to help detect signs of abuse/grooming as well as warning signs of a predator who may be targeting elders/women/teens/children:

Signs of abuse as well as warning signs of predation that does not use gendered language nor play into the Stranger Danger myth.

Education, not Censorship

I think a lot of the energy against taboo content among young people still has a lot to do with the desire to end rape culture. The tools that we Millennial Tumblrinas gave you Gen Z kids were snatches of leftist theory, deplatforming, and voting with your dollar, so it’s reasonable to think that removing taboo content like pedophilia, incest, rape fights rape culture.

It doesn’t.

Rape culture is fought by education. Comprehensive sex education, education about consent. Talking about what consent looks like, what sex can look like, what rape can look like.

There should be more taboo content to talk about these things, to show all the shades it can look like. From a violent noncon to fics that aren’t even tagged as dubcon yet still are in shades that are hard to suss out, we should talk about it.

A Non-Empirical Example Of Good Media Analysis and Education to Combat Rape Culture

Let’s use the example of Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen’s relationship in House of the Dragon. Canonically, in both the book and the show, they have a romantic relationship that appears for the most part to be positive (the show being more contentious but I dedicated an aside to Sarah Hess and our beef at the bottom of my Carrd, but feel free to ask how I feel about writing producers with any variation of the name ‘Sarah’) despite an age gap, a sexual relationship that began while Rhaenyra was a minor, and incest - the problematic hat trick if you will.

I have seen anti-Daemyra shippers condemn Daemyra shippers for “Condoning grooming, age gaps, pedophilia, and incest.” Which is not just a broad, inaccurate, and harmful statement, it’s not at all constructive or educational analysis.

It would actually be beneficial to say “Daemon is grooming Rhaenyra as a teenager with gifts, devoted attention that takes advantage of her isolation and vulnerability, frequent nonsexual touches, the extreme desensitization to sexuality in the brothel visit,” etc etc. And even so, it is not useful to say that people cannot still ship the relationship and acknowledge those aspects. They might want to further explore the issues of consent in their dynamic in fiction, they may want to strip away some of them with narrative reimagining. Some might want to ignore the taboos completely and indulge in the fantasy entirely, and some might find the actors hot as hell - AKA, anyone who watches the show.

It’s honestly a little similar to me in how Jerry Falwell would tell his followers not to watch or read or take in any media that dealt with homosexuality unless it was condemning it - even Will & Grace was on Jerry’s shitlist. And so, Jerry’s followers missed out on a lot of media that could have educated them about queerness, could have humanized queer people for them - and that did not make queers go away. Just like ignoring or shutting out media about incest, rape, and other forms of sexual violence doesn’t make those things go away - it just tends to make you less informed, and little less capable of empathy towards people affected by those subjects.

So let’s stop shaming those that ship a complicated dynamic - you get less fanworks exploring those taboos, and less of a discussion overall. You shut down the morality lab of fiction, and to be honest, it’s wet sock behavior.

Some FanFiction Specific Studies

How dubcon fanfiction can flesh out the intricacies and messiness of realistic consent

A review of darkfic written about Harry Potter in 2005 (which, I will personally attest has never been outdone in how profoundly taboo those works were)

Interviews with 11 Self Insert writers who wrote on themes of rape, abuse, control, yandere, etc, and how that was beneficial to some who had experienced sexual violence themselves

Conclusion:

H…holy shit, you actually read all of that?? Congrats dude! That is a lot of time and brain power to dedicate to any one thing!

By the way, I am not really gifted at writing articles or any of that junk, and I tried to make my hyperlexic ass a little more accessible instead of bringing out all the $5 words. I am literally just an autistic who took a couple technical writing classes over a decade ago and really wanted to sort out my thoughts and try to have a platform for discussion. Also, I am really fucking bad at math. I failed two different college level statistics classes twice each. Gun to my head, I could not tell you what a standard deviation is, which is why I worked entirely with the percentages.

And I do want to have a discussion! I would in fact like to not report anyone for sending me gore or death threats or any of that stuff! I don’t think everyone will agree with me, in fact I’m certain that you could find studies that contradict some of mine, and I’d love to discuss them!

I’m sure it will still be tempting to throw around accusations of pedophilia because sometimes, confronting your previously held beliefs is incredibly uncomfortable. If you could not do that, that would be great? I don’t like being compared to someone who profoundly abused me just because I have a different opinion on how to combat rape culture and empower survivors. If you can do that, I’ll do my absolute best to be cheerful and welcoming and respectful as well. 😁

so like i said im bad at having a consistent plot, also words are hard for me so ur getting a Very shitty bastardized version of what i Do have.

Basically it takes place mostly on 2 planets, earth and alkaliba(i hate this name i made it up when i was like 15ish, i just cant think of something better rn😔) its initially in 2009, but actually this is like a Different 2009. bc basically there was a mass extinction like several hundred million years ago and everything just kinda started over but like only Slightly different (sounds stupid af out loud but just trust me ok) alkaliba had existed for a Very long time the next galaxy over and it just so happens that the planet is dying and all their natural resources are fucked. so melody (lenarrs mom) set up an agreement with alkaliba that they could borror resources from earth. (melody is thousands of years old, but thats a secret lol) also melody was from another dimension Also a very powerful sorcerer and kept most of her spells and whatnot in her journal But its written in her native dimensions language which nobody on earth (except lenarr) can read. anyway she used her magic to connect the 2 planets using a series of portals called stargates (again. subject to change, also they connect to a Lot of other planets besides just earth but whatever) that allowed ppl to easily travel between the 2. bc of this alkaliba Kinda "colonized" (FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD) earth? and that was normal for a few thousand years.

anyway for s1 jump ahead to where canon starts (2009) tix is sent to earth by meredith (queen of alkaliba, tix is her son but u dont know that until later in s1 when they actually Go to alkaliba) to pretty much track lenarr down and convince him to use his powers he inherented from melody (lenarr is not aware of this at all) to pretty much save alkaliba (BIG SPOILER. THIS IS SOMEWHAT DISHONEST. sure lenarr could Choose to save alkaliba but that would result in the destruction of earth or it could be vice versa. it cant be both BUT youll see) so he find lenarr Completely by coincidence after lenarr offers to help him bc tix has never seen snow or ice in his life and is having Difficulty. anyway this is ridiculous that i havent figured this out after 10+ years but tix does Something to convince lenarr to go with him, bc obviously lenarr would be very hesitant to. a bunch of shit happens u know the drill 1st episode shit to establish everything. i could type out a full episode 1 plot but i don't particularly want to rn😢

s2-3 is just mostly playing toys w my characters and tix teaching lenarr how to use his powers (s1 finale is when lenarr starts to Get it but u know) also s2 is noodles villain arc and s3 has eugene in it which is so fun bc i really really like noodle and eugene is funny. OH AND THE MAIN VILLAINS. hydro is the Main antagonist but he has 5 other idek what to call them. henchmen????? that either work for him (griff, dimentia, derric) Or are loyal to him bc he practically saved their life (grem and pixie, also dimentia a little? its complicated) and while Yes hydro IS a villain and he IS evil, hes actually just trying to save earth bc in his mind alkaliba is actually like the typical alien invasion thing u see in movies (not exactly whats happening but it Is possible u could see it that way) he just goes abt it in the weirdest most fucked up way possible. also BIG plotpoint worth mentioning, grem and tix were dating for at least 3000+ years before tix left him for his (now deceased) wife, which grem is Extremely bitter abt. so hes obviously loyal to hydro bc hydro helped him escape his abusive father BUT hes also doing it for himself to get back at tix. (important note tix Was the asshole in that situation 100%, grem is actually right to be upset a little but probably not That much) anyway once lenarr tix and zach(forgot to mention zach is tixs best friend who tix brings along bc hes smart and good at strategizing, also bc tix is GAYYYYYY) get to alkaliba finally it is literally impossible to conceal the fact that tix is a prince there. and bc lenarr doesnt know the Real reason why hes there he doesnt think much of it, in fact he finds it weird that tix wouldnt tell him that.

jumping allll the way to s4 when the Actual shit goes down. this is where shit gets less in depth bc its Extremely new..this is when lenarr learns that hes being used to basically doom earth, u know. his home planet. (considering having either hydro or grem tell him, not in a nice way either) obviously he gets really upset abt this, Especially bc its been at least a couple years since canon started and zach and tix are basically like family to him at this point. he probably runs off idk. i need to think abt it more bc i JUST made this up but im considering recycling an OLDD concept from like early highschool gq where lenarr gets to visit melody in her home dimension. also forgot to mention. melody and lenarrs older brother ruben both committed suicide when lenarr was younger. melody only did it to go back to her home dimension, but ruben did it bc he got rlly depressed after melody died ÷(

anyway lenarr gets to see melody, its very sweet ÷) he talks to her abt his problem abd she gives him some kinda cryptic advice bc Plot. this changes lenarr basically, at this point hes mastered melodys spellbook and Now he can create his own spells or whatever. SO. he comes up with a way to make it so NEITHER planet gets destroyed somehow. this works bc lenarr is actually like twice as powrful as melody at his full potential. after this the main villains would most likely have their redemption arcs somehow i havent thought up What exactly happens yet. and for s5 its basically just me wrapping things up and playing with my toys freely...theres still active plot happening thats very relevant to the story obviously but its a liiiiitle less high stakes and thats all i got in regards to the main plot bc if i sat here and typed a detailed explanation of my fun fillers id be here for years

originally gq was Not supposed to be a cartoon nor was it an ocverse. it was a fucking spm fan spinoff i made up bc i was autistic af and 12. grem was my first ever oc that was Not a fursona and he was actually terrible like as a person. i mean hes kinda terrible now but not as bad

griffs name was changed a few years after i made him. it used to be falcon (STUPID AF BUT I WAS 12. REMEMBER THIS.) also i thought itd be funny for his name to be griff bc youd think its short for griffon but no its short for grifford. also texs and tiabia names were changed too. tiabis name was janette and she was actually originally an adult but i thought itd be better if she was 7

like 99.999% of my original designs and concept art + silly little comics of my villains bc it was just them when it was still a mario thing is lost media forever bc my mom accidentally threw it all away when we moved to a new house i miss it every dayyyy id do Anything to see it again..... the Only original stuff i have is from highschool and i fucking hate my artstyle then so its sad af...its just lenarrs finalized design (which actually barely changed since then) and MAYBE if i looked hard enough thru my old computers i could find zachs original design too? idk i dont feel like looking

some Stupid reasons behind design changes were 1. hydro used to have 4 heads, hence the dumbass wordplay on "hydra" but i got so fucking fed up with drawing them every time + i kept forgetting to so i just made him a regular dragon. and 2. griff has his mask bc i literally just kept getting mad trying to draw his face right. thats literally it. thats the only reason.

I agree that people should do their own research for what is good for their pets. However, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with adding warnings for things like that.

Somebody may do tons of research before getting a pet and just simply not happen to come across information regarding incense/essential oils/etc with pets. That’s not often a commonly discussed topic in regard to pet keeping; it’s more of harmful food that’s discussed. So what’s the harm of having a warning or somebody else adding one? Wouldn’t you rather rest easy knowing somebody’s animal is safer now? I don’t entirely see the problem here besides you finding it personally “annoying.”

What about those with memory issues? Personally, I have DID and while this has never been an issue for me, I could see this being an issue for somebody who forgets things easily for one reason or another (ADHD, DID, dementia, even just being plain forgetful). I think it’s good to have frequent reminders. For example, I very frequently have to google what veggies my bearded dragon can/can’t eat due to this. So what’s wrong with having a warning to not use (insert item) around pets?

And hell, what’s wrong with the warning there for people who didn’t do their research? Does it really matter why? It honestly sounded like you were insinuating that the pet’s death and owner’s grief would then be justifiable. I agree that it’s irresponsible to get a pet without doing the research first. But that doesn’t mean they deserve these things.

If nobody put out any warnings and discussed these things, there would be no way for people to learn about it in the first place.

I get your concerns, like i said. While it does seem like the only thing wrong with adding warnings on tumblr about pets is "it being annoying". the problem lies a bit deeper than it being annoying if you look a bit deeper, actually.

The problem is. A person on Tumblr can say anything. And i mean anything. They can lie, whether by just being misinformed or lie simply to be malicious. If one wants a pet, they should look for sources that are medically backed up by veterinarians. Not someone random from Tumblr.

What if i, for example, told you some complete misinformation as a reminder?

People in witchcraft, paganism and occult spaces should be aware of this. Well... Everyone over age of 13 should be aware that misinformation can spread easily on the internet. Which is why often, witches who are more experienced tell you to preferably look into actual magical grimoires and witchcraft books made by experienced scholars other than someone's Tumblr post.

Basically. Scholaly, medical sources > Tumblr, TikTok or Instagram.

If you wish to be reminded more constantly, whether due to your mental conditions, disability, or any other factor that could make you forgetful... Here are some things you can do, some tips:

Look up some sites, books , e-books, or articles that have sources in them. Cross reference your sources. And like, actual veterinary, medical, scientific sources, not a carrd or link tree website haha. If you have the energy, due to the said factors of health, write those things down in a notebook. If you don't have the energy or health, then write it in notes app. Or just screenshot the pages and make a separate folder in your phone gallery. Name it after your pet.

If you need some information at the moment, and don't have the health to read the notes, put it on text to speech app. Listen to the information from your notes app.

Hello again! I’ll just go into a bit more detail here. :)

I’ve been off the internet for a long while since I did cut off everyone in my life a few years ago. I isolated myself until more recently when I really started struggling and needed a place to vent out some frustrations. I struggle reaching out to people so feel free to reach out yourself, I promise you’re always welcomed here! :]

I only really post BPD related stuff here to try to keep things more of a safe place where there’s not too many sensitive things that can easily trigger people. I do have a side blog that’s not too hard to find but I won’t link it here because I’ll be rambling more on there about other sensitive topics that can be triggering.

I never had a “Tumblr Era” before this so I’ve pretty much been going in blind. I also don’t spend too much time looking at stuff on here either, not cause I don’t want to but just the mental illness brain talking.

I also do have pretty bad paranoia so if there’s ever something I don’t really answer or I seem to avoid mentioning, please don’t take it personally. I don’t mean any harm by it but I just prefer to keep some things private and my privacy is something I value a lot.

As I mentioned previously, I do have a lot of different disorders along with BPD so BPD can look very different on me compared to someone else who has different disorders. I am not a professional and only use this page to vent thoughts related to my experiences or things I’m going through. People without BPD might also relate to some of my vents since I do have other disorders that can affect my mindset so please don’t take anything I say or vent about as professional medical advice. If anyone wants to talk about it privately, I don’t mind that but please don’t take anything I say as 100% one way or the other since BPD can really look much different in people as well as my other disorders that are also factors to take in.

Law:

Law's relationship with grief is complicated. Although he's quite skilled at keeping it hidden, Law feels things very deeply - to the extent that the grief he felt over the loss of his family and Cora-san is still just as raw as it was in his childhood. Fortunately, the latter's sacrifice allowed and encouraged him to adopt an "I owe it to myself and them to keep going" mindset, but on the occasion Law is left to his own thoughts for too long, the memory of past grief and the possibility of future grief are things that can very easily overwhelm him.

This is a topic I've enjoyed exploring with @futurepiratekiing. Much like Luffy, Law needs to have people around him as a buffer between him and the depth of his own thoughts. When he's surrounded by his crew and closest companions, Law is able to convert all the grief he felt in the past (and any future grief he's afraid of regarding the health and safety of those around him) into strength. He never wants to feel the way he did when he lost his family and savior again, so having first Bepo, Penguin, and Shachi around him from his days on Swallow Island to eventually his entire crew around him motivates him to grow and become strong enough to protect them at any cost.

When they're not around, it becomes much easier to dwell on such feelings of grief, regret, hopelessness, etc. He can and does push through it, but left to his own devices, these heavy emotions take a much heavier toll on him. Combined with the rapidly-approaching fruition of his ambitions, I think this is the primary reason we see him go from the cool, laid-back Law we first saw on Sabaody to the one camped out at Punk Hazard two years later. Months without his crew have left him with way too much time to think, feel, and dwell on all the bad he's seen and felt. In the event of any new or unexpected grief arising, Law tries to push it to the back of his mind and keep otherwise occupied because he's felt so much of it, he's really not sure he's going to be able to go through that again. He doesn't want to think about what he'd do if anything else awful were to happen so he reminds himself why he does what he does every day and pushes himself in the hopes of being strong enough to prevent anything like that from happening ever again.

'Read More'-ing the Winry response since I switched to single muse.

Winry:

Winry's relationship with grief is much simpler and healthier. After years of watching Ed and Al push theirs to the side and being the one to cry for them ("You two won't cry - somebody else should do it for you."), Winry knows the importance of letting her emotions run their proper course and facing them head-on. Yes, her parents' deaths still haunt her, and yes, it kills her to think of anything happening to the Elric brothers, but Winry is incredibly strong. Especially after hearing Ed's speech about her hands being for giving people life, after a proper grieving period when things are hard or bad things happen, she's able to get back on her feet and find the strength to keep going. Winry is definitely the kind of person who would in time be able to find reasons to smile because it happened instead of crying because it's over. She would also be a good source of guidance for anyone else going through it because she's patient and a great listener on top of being excellent moral support from the start.

A Guide to Shipping

as a disclaimer: this is a comprehensive guide to how to form a bond with my muse. Including relationships of all types ; friendship, friendships of need, work related, familial, unrequited, purely sexual, or completely romantic. Such relationships are not limited to these listed, but they are the 'easiest' to dive into.

as a second disclaimer: Qistina is not a character who will change for another person. She will remain as ruthless and monstrous as she so desires, changing only by her own volition. She is rotten and wicked, and depending on the verse, highly murderous. With that being said, let's begin.

trigger warnings for: Machiavellianism, literal witch hunting, death and resurrection, horror elements, and traditionalist views.

For starters, her availability depends upon the verse she's in. Her past is the same spiritually, but its aesthetics and alchemys' rules will vary. I'll be focusing more on approaching her and learning her love regardless.

|| Traumas and Aversion to Bonds ||

Without diving too deeply into her history, as you can read that on her carrd, to put it simply Qistina is a troubled woman who does not open her heart easily. She retains the demeanor of a pleasantly delighted woman who happily makes conversation and will show much interest in your thoughts, ideals, and ethics. Qistinas heart is wounded and bleeding, unable to heal completely from the betrayal of her fellow village folk.

There is a good and compassionate heart deep down, but it is behind a murky ocean of thorns. To traverse this ocean, you have to understand something KEY to her heart : Her alchemy takes priority over everything. Her work is her treasure trove, like a dragons dream, and it can't and won't be placed behind anyone or anything. . . in special circumstances, your importance can be very subtly placed to the forefront of her obsession. There is also the high probability of her deadly attachment to your muses life. She exhibits highly manipulative tendencies, as part of her survival methods ; questioning and remembering any talks of your muses likes and dislikes, friends and family, and even your muses enemies.

Though she will not intervene, she will take careful consideration of these parts and remember your muse when certain elements crop up. She remembers birthdays, and even the most minute details ― it's a part of her love language, in a way. Her misunderstandings of how love works and how such feelings are leading to being in love with a person. She finds disappointment in inaction, contradiction, and laziness - so if your muse is highly susceptible to such bouts, they'll certainly see how far her cruel words will take her.

Though it is verse dependent that she is essentially immortal, Qistina still retains a deeply cosmic view of life and death. her connection to the soul of the earth through her alchemy, she looks at both on both technical and spiritual levels, to a point where it could possibly make your muse uncomfortable ― though, ( in some verses ) only when such a topic makes itself known. She is also openly willing to mock the more religious views of people, highly preferring more logical approaches to the human experience. What is dead is dead. When the soul is gone the soul is gone and only possible to retrieve by an extreme transmutation of value of importance by the of her person. She is highly stubborn and will 99% of the time never EVER budge.

Qistina carries herself with a sense of regality that borders on narcissism. The lightly drawn border is made by her openness to her mistakes, flaws, and ignorance of other topics ( not related to alchemy, modern people, technology, etc etc )

|| To Build a Bond of Any Sort ||

It truly does not matter to her where your muses alignment lies, Qistina can form a bond with just about anyone if her interest is there. Any sort of personality, background, or profession could potentially catch her eye - keeping in the same path of her own narcissism, Qistina will simply view her own alchemy as superior to anything. She must be interested in your muse to form any sort of bond whatsoever ( yes, this includes enemies ) it's part of the reason she can be so difficult to get under her skin or form bonds at all. She doesn't hate, but she doesn't openly love either.

|| Physical Affection ||

She has no boundaries when it comes to touch or touching your muse. She will stand nose to nose with your muse, take hold of their face or hands, and not really pay any mind to any boundaries unless she cares about your muse enough to take into consideration their feelings. As for her, when in a romantic relationship, she becomes even more invasive and snuggly. Much like a kitten in need of warmth. A safe space to be sleeping. The moment your feelings of romance are known, she'll quite quickly shift into such a state.

Perhaps her favorite form of affection is playing with hair. Petting, smelling, resting her head against ― indeed, it may just become a security blanket for her. She also greatly enjoys both the idea and the action of washing their hair and combing through the strands with a finely-smelling oil or tonic. A head in her lap or sitting closely in front of her.

|| Romance ||

The likelihood of her revealing her romantic intentions is slim to none. In any verse, she will resolve to torture herself in the one area in which she is sorely lacking ― love. Her heart has been terribly burned and torn from that centuries-old wound of being hunted as a witch, so naturally, there are significant hurdles you must climb to reassure her that you love her. That you want her. That you care. She is naturally mistrusting to her own romantic feelings and will surely put herself down regardless of how obvious your muse is.

Understand, because of her evil nature and how open she is with her intentions and wants, she has a deeper acknowledgment of how the world or a potential romantic partner shall think of her. Most good-natured persons, for example, could probably speak to her plainly as more friendly bonds ― but she does not fool herself into daydreaming of becoming closer to such people. She knows her nature is deplorable to the wider world, and that while others may be cordial to her there is little chance of love blooming within the hatred for her actions in their hearts.

Therefore there will be absolute honesty from her. She tells no outright lies because she simply has nothing to lose.

|| Sex and intimacy ||

As a woman who had been born in the 1400s she had been raised with a stern and strictly misogynistic hand, which attributes greatly to the lack of pursuing any relationship at all. It is simply 'not what women do'. For her, the mother chose a family to marry into. A dowry is given to the husband's family. She is married and raises children and cares for the home and the money coming in. Etc. Etc. Highly old and traditional, and she will mention such things ( the severity of this mindset is dependent on the verse itself, as in most alternate verses, she is not immortal ).

Even if she is feeling romantic toward a muse, she will sit and wait to be approached. If she isn't approached, she will simply think that your muse is not interested in her romantically. If your muse discovers her feelings and questions her, she may even apologize and act as if she's already been rejected. In terms of a dating sim, Qistina's path is the rarest and most difficult path to take. but once you've arrived at your destination, she will hold fast to your arm and help you even further down that path to understanding your love together.

She needs patience and passion. Open completely to give body and soul to her partner. Slowly, worshiping, gentle. Every part of her lovemaking is contradictory to the wickedness she proudly displays. Once blasphemous is now holy, once hellish is now heavenly, and other such examples. She is tender in her care of her partner, and her hands will never stray from their side. As if it weren't obvious, she will be very unlikely to have one-night stands or casual flings. She values the privacy of her body, and wouldn't want just anyone to look at her.

|| preferences ||

She is demisexual, so she doesn't have a strict preference for gender. However, she does gravitate more toward male-presenting muses. More traditionally masculine, muscular, and strong. Outward appearances rarely hold any importance to her at all, but she will appreciate a well-groomed muse. A sloppy dresser may turn up her nose, but if their personality is strong enough she may just overlook it. It's not impossible, but good luck with that.

|| Friendship ||

To be frank, true friendship with her is just as difficult as romance. She does not trust, she does not presume, and she does not expect you to stay. Those who manage to form that bond of friendship however are and always have been a certain class of muse: the unconventional. Muses who mirror her personality or murderous intentions, or muses who are simply beyond human intentions. The otherworldly, gods, demons, or other 'evil' muses. It's not impossible to truly befriend her if your muse is of the lawful good, but it could prove a task if your muse cannot withstand the onslaught of her disregard for morals and laws of nature and her openness to it.

It is much easier to be her 'friend' if you are of the same mindset as herself. . . or if you are an animal.

|| hard stops ||

aside from the triggering tags in my rules, there are threads and types of relationships I will not be a part of. Essentially, these will kill the ship faster than anything else. Any mention of cheating, noncon, treating her like a lesser being, or belittling her work in any way ( including insults to alchemy itself or even worse - insults toward her chimera Basker ) will effectively end the ship. I will not write cheating or noncon threads, and she will not tolerate being spoken down to. She would rather kill your muse for it. Period.

|| children ||

I am fine with her having biological children, as in her main verse she is several hundred years old with a husband and they have many, but I rarely write pregnancy-related threads in excess. Perhaps a drabble here or there, but I will never discuss it too often as I know many people do not wish to think about it.

When in doubt, let me know. As I've said before, she's more 'traditional' and is still within the mindset that she 'must have children with her partner' so the topic will pop up for her. Again, when in doubt just ask me about it.

deep cellos, weeping violins, solo six-string guitars, and sincerely resonating pianos. A dark, frightening performance with the subtly of sorrow when listened to closely. Music associated to her romances has a whistful feel to it. Something classical goth.

|| gifts ||

A simple alchemist living her life in the deep deep woods, there is not much she wants for that she cannot make for herself. Depending on the verse, she may not even see it as a 'gift', however, there are particular things that she does appreciate and will certainly endear your muse to her heart.

Handmade gifts in particular show not only a thoughtfulness to her, but show her a creative side that she may have overlooked before. It's important to her to watch creativity of some kind. Giving her something flowery that she has perhaps never seen before is also a good deal.

By far the best is gifting her new bits of information or books. Introducing her to new animals, flowers, clothing, or even quality of life upgrades to her everyday tasks that she's been doing the old fashioned way for so centuries! It's appreciated, and she'll think of you far more than usual.

I require communication and heavy plotting, so expect it to be a very long slow burn.

I have a tendency to draw our ship and throw out many, many different ideas and verses for our muses to exist in together so don't be shy about sharing your own.

the ns.fw I write for her focuses more on the emotional than the physical act of it all, and if it does happen, I prefer to have longer threads. Either on tumblr or on discord, but I am fine with implications alone and it's not a requirement of shipping with her.

Trying to make her jealous will have the opposite effect you want.

I am hesitant on crossovers without an associated verse/AU ("sandbox" interactions, I guess) unless I know you well enough. It's just a harder comfort zone to step out of. 2. Crowley was drinking wine and watching Aziraphale drink wine, and he wasn’t sure which was more fun. Aziraphale wasn’t quite tipsy yet, but his cheeks were flushed a pretty pink and his blue eyes shone. It was an ironic beauty, an angel indulging in human pleasures.

Crowley was about to make a rather devastating rebuttal to Aziraphale’s opinions on the current Pope when Aziraphale suddenly stopped chattering and looked up. Crowley knew that look. He scanned the restaurant nervously in case the Heavenly message that Aziraphale was receiving said something like Be there in five, save us a table. Not that the other angels ever seemed to want to spend much time with Aziraphale, but—

“It’s not from Upstairs,” Aziraphale said, sounding curious. “It’s a human. Praying to me.”

“What, by name?” Crowley grinned, delighted. “Aziraphale. Do you have a cult?”

The angel immediately flushed a much brighter red. “What? Certainly not.”

“You sure? No devotees on their knees, lighting candles, venerating that greatest of angels, Guard of the Eastern Gate of—”

“Stop that. I do not have a cult. Just someone who needs help.” Aziraphale clunked his glass down on the table. “If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to see what’s going on.”

Crowley clunked his glass down right next to Aziraphale’s. “I won’t excuse you. I’m coming too.”

Aziraphale glowered at him. “You are not. People who pray to angels do not wish to be visited by demons.”

“I know,” Crowley said with a smirk. “That’s what makes it so much fun. Anyhow, if it turns out you do have a cult, I can help scare them off for you. Your defeat at the hands of the Serpent of Eden would certainly dampen any overzealous admiration.”

“Oh, good Lord,” Aziraphale breathed. “Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.”

It was immediately clear, though, that there was no cult. Aziraphale’s miracle landed them in a dirty alleyway beside a solitary woman, groaning with pain. Aziraphale came to his knees beside her in the dust. Despite not appearing as an angel in glory, Aziraphale seemed to glow anyway, dressed all in white against the muck of the alley.

“Crowley, she’s in labor,” Aziraphale said. “Twins.”

“Where do you want to go?” Crowley asked.

“Anywhere clean.”

Crowley snapped his fingers this time and the three of them appeared in Crowley’s small, tidy room in the nearby village. Crowley knew where Aziraphale was staying in London— how he instinctively knew Aziraphale’s whereabouts was a bit of a mystery to Crowley, one he didn’t want to investigate very far (and Satan forbid he think on the question of why)— but heavenly guards were not meant to sleep, and Crowley guessed that Aziraphale would not have a bed.

Aziraphale held the woman easily in his arms, as if a fully pregnant human weighed not more than a cup of wine. Crowley remembered Aziraphale carrying him that time in Gaul, with the consecrated hill, and a not-entirely-unpleasant shiver went up his spine.

“Don’t worry, my dear,” Aziraphale said as he laid the woman down on Crowley’s bed. “You’re all going to be just fine.”

The woman grasped Aziraphale’s wrist. “Are you— are you really an angel?”

“You should turn your lights on,” Crowley advised.

Aziraphale looked up, and Crowley saw a deep sadness in his eyes, one that went all the way back to a street fight in Mesoamerica and a child frightened of an angel in glory.

“Just a little,” Crowley said. “Just your overhead maybe.”

Aziraphale still hesitated. Crowley found himself giving the angel a reassuring smile, and for some reason Aziraphale seemed to trust it. He closed his eyes a moment, and a glow grew around his head, bright and full as any angel’s halo, and yet different from any Crowley had ever seen: not white but gold, not cold but warm. Crowley had the unpleasantly undemonic thought that Aziraphale was even more beautiful with his halo shining than he had been when flushed with wine.

“Lowest setting,” Aziraphale said nervously. “What do you think?”

“Didn’t know it had a low setting.”

“Well, it does now.”

The woman in the bed seemed to calm as she gazed on the angelic glow. “I’m Aziraphale,” the angel said, taking her hand. “And I believe you are the first human ever to pray directly to me.”

The woman grimaced as a contraction gripped her. “I saw you in a book,” she gasped, when she could. “It had a picture of you in the Garden of Eden. Somebody told me your name and I never forgot it.”

Aziraphale was smiling now. “Oh, how lovely.”

Crowley smirked. “Was I in it?”

Aziraphale gave Crowley an amused glance. “Don’t worry, I’m sure it captured your best side, dear.”

“I tried—” The woman looked apologetic. “I prayed to God, but I don’t think He listened. I don’t blame Him. These children are by a man married to someone else. I just—” She looked down at their joined hands. “I’m sorry, but I thought that if you were a minor angel, then maybe you wouldn’t be so busy. That maybe you could spare a few moments for a fallen woman.”

Aziraphale’s eyes looked wet, but he gave no other sign of distress. “Don’t be afraid,” he said quietly. “You aren’t alone.”

Crowley had never seen a birth before. Aziraphale must have, because he didn’t seem surprised by all the noise and mess. Crowley planned to assist by staying out of the way, but Aziraphale firmly thwarted that by handing Crowley an infant. Crowley’s surprise must have been obvious because Aziraphale took the time to remind him that there was a second infant still coming.

The baby Crowley was holding was tiny and messy and very mad, which Crowley supposed made sense. After all, he had been somewhere warm and protected with his mother, and now he was somewhere cold and unfamiliar with a stranger. The baby’s hands were curled into little fists and he yelled much more loudly than Crowley would have guessed he could. Crowley summoned a blanket to wrap him securely and held him against his chest. After a moment, Crowley thought to give himself a heart beat, although he normally didn’t bother with one in his corporation. The baby seemed to respond to feeling it, which was to say that he yelled slightly less loudly.

After the second baby was delivered, the woman slumped back against the bed, exhausted. Aziraphale cleaned everything with a gentle miracle and looked over both infants carefully.

“Are they all right?” the mother asked anxiously.

Aziraphale smiled at her. “Perfectly.”

The woman started to cry, which she had not done during the birth. Aziraphale handed Crowley both infants without hesitation, as if he thought Crowley might somehow understand how to hold two infants at once, which he absolutely did not, but fortunately, he figured it out. Aziraphale put his arms around the mother and held her close.

“I was sure God would punish me,” the woman sobbed. “For being with a married man. No one I knew would help me, and I thought He was going to take my children.”

“God works in mysterious ways, and by an ineffable plan,” Aziraphale said, in such a pained voice that it cut through even the babies’ wails. “Don’t worry about mistakes that you think you’ve made. Just focus on your work, and those you love. That’s— that’s what I try to do, anyway.”

Aziraphale pressed a kiss to the top of the woman’s head and Crowley felt an angelic blessing echo through the room, which made his skin itch just when he didn't have hands free to scratch.

So I’ve finally decided to make this post and (officially) open gfx requests! This is a decently long post, so please read through carefully, especially the rules section! And before you ask, any banners I make will be completely free, I am not accepting commissions for banners. I just like making them.

RULES:

↠ give me a grace period of 3 weeks to complete your project. This is because I am a university student, and studies may cloud up my schedule from time to time. Of course, I will rarely take more than a week to complete a project, but just in case.

↠ Owing to the fact that I am doing this for FREE, please don’t get too greedy with the requests. You are limited to 3 requests a month and 15 graphics spread between those 3 requests, and if I feel the number of graphics you’ve requested is too high for me to complete, I will DM you so that we can negotiate. More info regarding this in the form itself.

↠ I will reach out to you to let you know whether your request is accepted or not! :D Please be patient.

↠ If you’re gonna request with specific photos, please make sure that if it’s a fansite picture, the op allows editing and that it’s not a sasaeng photo.

↠ Should I reach 5 requests, I will close requests and reopen them once I’ve cleared it all!

↠ I will only accept requests through the google form. This is because I have an exact idea of what you’d like on your graphic, since I ask a lot of specific questions. However, if you have some questions before filling out the form, feel free to dm/ask!

CREDIT RULES:

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in you losing the rights to use my graphic on your blog, and you will be politely asked to remove it or fix whatever you’re not following.

↠ when using a fanfic banner, you must credit me with an @ under the banner. Don’t throw the credit far down the post in the notes section. Credit must be clearly viewable to any users without having to go through any other stuff or a read more. If the banner is for a series. then you must credit me with an @ on every post you use the banner on. Including the masterlist and every chapter.

↠ DO NOT crop out my watermark under any circumstances. I usually leave hem very faint on fanfic/masterlist banners in case it’s stolen from you. Don’t credit me in the tags of the post, or credit me simply using my name. Meaning, “credit to dawn” is a wrong way to credit. You must mention me in the post with an @ that redirects the user to my blog. This is non-negotiable under any circumstances.

↠ When using a mobile header/icon made by me, you must credit me either in your bio, or a pinned post with an @. Like I said, the link needs to be viewable without having to go through multiple sections or other stuff to access it. In your bio, simply using my url is fine, since I do understand many people don’t know how to link their posts onto their bio. However if you do know how to, it’s very appreciated if you link my url to redirect to my blog. 💞

↠ For external sites like carrd, twitter, etc. You must credit me with a link that redirects to my blog on tumblr. Again, it should be a link, if that’s possible; and should follow the rule of “it should be viewable to the user easily without having to click through multiple times or shouldn’t be hidden under a cut”.

"Y/N, Y/N! Wake up, please wake up!"

At eight am in the morning, the side of your cheek was being tickled with something soft...? Something... something... wait, is that supposed to be fur? Yeonjun's velvety voice echoed through the room worriedly as if there was an important event you were missing, and you could say you were tempted to open your eyes until you remembered one, particular thing.

Groaning quietly, you turned to the side while shaking your head in annoyance. If this was another one of his pranks, you swore you were going to punch him in the gut for disrupting your beauty sleep. You shouldn't expect so much from him when you knew he should've been sleeping during this time anyway. Normally you'd gone up to help him, but after everything that happened this week it was safe to say you wanted nothing to do with him- yet. This was one of the only days you could catch up on sleep after stressing about the things you had to do, and you weren't going to lose it to some tiny prank he'll laugh about all day.

For a few moments, you thought he was finally going to leave you alone, the silence being refreshing for you to fall back into the soft arms of comfortable sleep. Well, that was until the boy screamed into your hear again.

"Y/NNN," he whined, tugging your blanket enough to make it scramble off the bed, landing on the floor with a quiet yet noticeable, ploof.

Okay, this was enough.

Throwing the pillow you were holding so dearly in your arm with a harsh grimace quickly permeating throughout your face, you were going to slap him away when you noticed that in your blurry vision... there were grey, furry cat ears on Yeonjun?

It wasn't your usual cat ears on the headband that kids bought whenever they wanted to pretend to be a feline, but those grey cat ears were seemingly attached to his head, almost as if it was sewn into the crown of his head. Stunned, you gasped at the sight, your right hand flying up to cover your dropped mouth.

His eyes were blown wide in pure innocence too, causing you to subconsciously gush at the sight. They both watched your movements intently, sparkling with what you could see mischievousness as well. From before, you knew that they were like this but... they weren't as gigantic and cute from before?!

You weren't able to stop yourself now, rubbing on his ears as he sighed in euphoria. As you expected, the ears were soft and you petted them all the more, feeling satisfied when you felt him seemingly purr due to what you assumed, your touch. He melted into your embrace, nuzzling his cheek against your neck while you giggled with delight.

"Yeonjun, what did you do? Question is, how did you do this all without me knowing?" It was at the very least to say that Yeonjun was simply adorable as his fur tickled the top of your chin, choosing to snuggle up against your chest in blissfulness.

From the corner of your eye, you could see his grey tail lazily spin around in circles while you ran your fingers through his freshly dyed, hair. You weren't sure how he became like this, but you had to admit that you weren't complaining! It was a secret to everyone that you adored cat boys and now that Yeonjun was like this, you could feel your heart swell with joy.

"I didn't do anything," he murmured, closing his eyes when you scratched the back of his ears, "I just woke up like this, next to you." A content smile spread throughout his face and you could feel your own human ears burn from how nonchalant he was about that last sentence. You couldn't recall how you didn't feel him squeeze up next to you last night while you slept soundly, but obviously there were no complaints either.

"Hey, it's alright! We'll figure this out later when all the other boys wake up. Maybe at least one of them would know these things?"

Speaking of the devil, you heard the door slam open with two of the boys running around in circles just to see you. They ceased their steps at the doorway, paralyzed when they both saw Yeonjun in your arms, stopping as if they walked into something they shouldn't have.

The amount of gasps you elicited once you saw them, gently pushing Yeonjun away from you, your steps carrying you towards Beomgyu whose sighed mixed with a low groan. His ears were ones of a golden puppy dog, twitching when you neared closer, pressing up a hand against the top of his head. Oh my goodness, talk about cuteness 1000%?!

Taehyun, on the other hand, was adorned with brown cat ears, revolving around in circles when you stared at him with wide, surprised eyes. He didn't allow you to touch his ears until you shot him a grin- a sign you weren't going to do anything bad to him. Eventually he softened up, turning his head to the side so that you wouldn't see his cherry cheeks while you petted him.

Yeonjun then stomped to the three of you, clinging onto your back with possessiveness. There wasn't anything much that happened other than him waking up with cat ears and a tail to along with that as well, but when you easily got up just to wonder thoughtlessly about their condition, he felt himself burning up from the inside with jealousy. Maybe it was his instincts that came along- like he noticed the first time you petted Beomgyu- but there was no denying he was turning green.

You laughed at the predicament, shaking your head without a care in the world. What really happened last night that you didn't know of? They couldn't have been that bored that they figured out how to appear as hybrids when they woke up.

"You guys... don't tell me that the rest of you are like this too? Because Yeonjun woke up with cat ears, although it can't get that much worse..."

You spoke too soon.

Another pair of puppy dog ears bust through the doorway, budging between the clingy bodies of Taehyun and Beomgyu while panting loudly. Your face turned white at the sight, all the warmness in your forehead disappearing without a trace. Why were you shocked at this point? If the three of them woke up with new body parts, then there would be no surprise if the rest of them did as well.

Your smile could only grow even wider, taking in the endearing pile of boys who zoomed close enough to feel their breath against your nose. Both Kai and Soobin were both playful puppies along with Beomgyu too?! Yes, and with the ears and tails too that stirred in several shapes! You held back a high-pitched scream that could possibly damage their sensitive drums. 

“Soobin...? Kai...? The same thing happened with you too?” 

They just had to be the cutest babies you’d ever seen before, despite them fiddling with their fingers in a nervous fit in fear that you weren’t going to like it.

“No, no, no! I’m the one who should protect Y/N since I was the first one she saw,” Yeonjun whined, pulling you against his chest. You fell against his warm embrace, feeling the corners of your lips turn into a tiny grin that clearly didn’t go unnoticed by the others. 

“Yeonjun, that’s not fair! You didn’t even let us get a chance with her yet!” Soobin pulled you away from Yeonjun and you giggled at the two of them fighting as Taehyun spoke up again.”

“Um first of all, we shouldn’t expect a lot from her? She wouldn’t want to be near any of your musty as-”

“Shut up Taehyun!” They all yelled, and you groaned at how complicated the problem became now.

You ran your hands over your face, the fatigue in your body definitely catching up after staying up to turn in an important document. All of this yelling back and forth about who was going to spend time with you got to your tiredness, and you made a suggestion of which you hoped with all your heart that they would accept. 

“Guys, I know I’m the only one who needs sleep here after staying up into the wee hours of the night, but can we please figure this out when I’m more awake? I need to get some sleep for the time being so that I can understand these things.”

You weren’t surprised when they all cuddled up against you while you tried to doze off for the nth time.

“Oh my gosh! They’re adorable, aren’t they?!”

“Who could’ve believed this would happen?

“Awwe, Y/N with fluffy ears? This must be a disease!”

“Beomgyu, hurry up and take some pictures!”

Kai’s voice was the last thing you heard in your sleep then you stirred, taking a look at all the boys who crowded around you. 

What was happening now? It must’ve been two hours since you dozed off, your eyes landing on the clock that read 10:47am. Tiredly, you stretched and the whispers of the boys grew louder with every second that passed. Your arms made contact with something soft and you assumed that was one of the boys ears until you felt something so foreign twitch on the top of your head. It was almost like... almost like- wait a minute!

Now the same exact thing was happening to you.

so re: people’s dnis/byfs/carrds...wow. i have so many thoughts and all of them are just like: why? why put out all this deeply personal information about yourself that you want people to read before they even follow you?

even if someone doesn’t have intentions of hurting or finding you irl, they can so easily bully you because you put all of your identities and triggers in one place

enough of these minority-type identities, and people can track you down easily enough if you’re not careful, and find your personal socials/your irls socials, so they could out you or even find you if they wanted to

so much of it feels oddly exclusionary and i get that your twitter/tumblr is your personal space, but only wanting fellow *x identity* to follow you feels off to me

also, internet safety where?????

i don’t know...internet safety just feels like it’s eroded so much, because maybe in schools it’s still taught in a very 90s way? but hell, it’s better than assuming no one out there will hurt you. manipulation is a way of hurting you, too, and at a young age it’s hard to see the signs, it just is.

and someone posing as your same gender/sexuality/ethnicity/etc. can manipulate you much easier, and they know just what to get you to trust them, because you revealed it all even before your 1-on-1 convo!!!

i really worry that because this is becoming the norm and you’re seen as weird if you don’t have a deeply personal and revealing bio (or carrd or dni list or whatever you kids wanna call it) that you’re inherently untrustworthy. i think everyone you don’t know irl (and kind of even irl at first) should be given the same stranger danger protocols, whether someone shares this info or not, because these things can easily be fudged just like anything else online. without hard proof, you don’t know who someone is behind their screen name.

i know i sound like an old lady but i’ve seen people as young as middle schoolers and as old as parents with these carrds and i don’t really know what to do with this information. i’m not old, but i have had too many bad internet experiences to not be careful, and i’ve had it much easier than most.

A Little Information on my Post+ Policy

I think post+ is the stupidest shit to ever be conceived by the tumblr staff. From the shitty UI changes to their shitty... everything. Search system, NSFW policy, tag blockage, user blockage, and everything in between, I have begrudgingly put up with all of it. However, post+ is where I draw the line and actively point out what I will do about it.

I will NEVER use post+ for a number of reasons. Mostly, I have 3 reasons:

1: I don't want lawsuits

I'm sure you are aware that I draw things related to Five Night's at Freddy's, Pokemon, and a myriad of fan work. Because these fan works are copyrighted properties I do not have the rights to, posting my work is technically copyright infringement. My FNaF AU may fall into a weird niche with fair use because it is a re-interpretation of the canon lore. However, I don't have the rights to any of the properties I draw.

For those of you wondering, no. Making money off of something doesn't automatically mean it's not fair use. Something like a parody is fair use, which is why South Park was able to recreate bits of the "What What in the Butt" video. The episode was considered a transformative work, and, therefore, fair use.

I won't go into harsh detail as to why fair use cases are not determined by monetization, but there is a great video by YourMovieSucks and an easy to read article elaborating on fair use.

Post+, in my case, would be the monetization of intellectual properties, which may not be the reason why a fair use case occurs, but it would attract attention.

Say I use post+ and charge $10 for my supporters to view this Pokemon fanart I am in the midst of making:

If I got, like, four people to pay the $10 then, even though I am infringing on the Pokemon Company's market by drawing their properties and selling it, and I am not really transforming or making a parody of Pokemon, it is very unlikely they will notice, let alone care, as I just made $40. It's not worth their time or money to sue me.

HOWEVER, if I made $1,000,000, (which is very very unlikely but let's say I did) then the Pokemon Company would probably see/hear of it and could very easily sue me for copyright infringement and could demand a lot of money; money I don't have and will probably never have.

2: My work is for everyone to enjoy

I already have means of people supporting me if they so choose. I have a redbubble and I have commissions. If someone wants to pay for a print or a sticker of my art or pay me to draw something for them, that is their choice to make and it is not mandatory. If you would like to support me, all the information can be found on my carrd. You can support me, but you do not have to.

I make art for fun. I have been drawing since I was young and I find art an enjoyable talent of mine I want to pursue as a career when I am older. However, my social media is free because I do not believe someone should be forced to pay to see my stuff. I do it for fun, and while making money is nice, whether or not someone chooses to support me, that is entirely their decision. Whether it be they don't have the money, are saving up for something they really want, or simply don't want to purchase anything, that is their choice. Not mine.

If you really want to support me without spending cash, reblogging stuff is a HUGE help. The algorithm will boost my art and will get my work out to other people. It really does help.

I do not believe in charging people to enjoy my blog, which is why I hate post+. Although some people may want to use it, post+ is not like Patreon where there are additional benefits for paying, be it a discount on commissions or something like that. The perk for paying money is to be able to see my fucking blog, and that goes against what I stand for.

3: There are better alternatives:

If I really did want to do something like post+, which I have no intentions of at the moment, then there are better alternatives that I trust, like Patreon. Patreon would allow me to offer perks for supporting me, like tutorials, discounts, first dibs on prints and merch, etc. More importantly, I trust them. As much as I enjoy Tumblr, I do not trust a site that can't even get its fucking search tool right with my bank account information.

Furthermore, if someone supports you on post+, you can't block them. I block people for the integrity of my blog, and even though Tumblr's block system barely works at all, it makes me feel better when I know I am blocking shit I do not support. I don't support hateful crap, trashing anyone for their color or their heritage or size or shape or appearance or disabilities or really any superficial feature you can think of is annoying, pretentious, and y'know, just yucky in general and I will block it. If someone were to be someone who I would block, but they pay me $1 a month, I literally wouldn't be able to fucking block them and I don't like that thought.

TL;DR: I don't want to get wrapped up in lawsuits, I don't believe in charging people to see my stuff (buying something is their choice), and I wouldn't be able to block blogs that I don't want on my page. I will not be using post+ ever! You can always support me on my redbubble or by buying a commission, but I'm not offended if you don't!
