It's that time again.
Theodore Tugboat time.
It's a very good show, which I recommend to fans of both Thomas the Tank Engine, and TUGS (Robert Cardona worked on all three series). I'll be watching it over the summer.

Noises at Night (11-7-22)
Hank could hear the dragging and thumping outside. It was keeping him awake. He sat up, scared out his mind, at an especially loud thump, near his window. Hank frowned, slightly fearful, and unable to go to sleep.
"T-Theodore?" He looked towards the other side of the room he shared with his friend. Theodore was sound asleep, unaffected by the noise. Hank's mind immediately went to the story George had told the day prior, about Kamel, the ghoul of Big Harbor. He could feel something watching him, as he quietly got out of bed. Hank didn't dare turn and look at the window, for fear that Kamel would be there, staring unseeing ahead with empty black sockets.
As he soundlessly made his way down the hall, he passed Rebecca's room. Her reading lamp was on, which meant she was awake.
"Rebecca?" He knocked lightly on her door, and waited. The door opened, and he rushed inside.
"Hank, what's the matter?" Rebecca asked, as Hank tightly clung to her. He told her about the noise, and George's story and Kamel. She hugged him.
"Cherub," She murmured, stroking his hair. "Those are just stories. Kamel, has been dead for a long time."

"Rebecca!" Rebecca looked up from her work to see Hank, standing in the doorway of her office. He looked excited, rocking on his heels.
"Hello Hank," She smiled at him warmly. "What's up?" Hank smiled sheepishly, a blush creeping up his neck and face.
"I was wondering about your trip..." He looked up at her, blue eyes twinkling. "And...if I could come with you?" Rebecca beamed, opening her arms, and Hank hugged her.
"Of course!" She murmured, running her hands through his blonde curls. "I was going to ask if you wanted to accompany me."

Pet Names
"George?" Hank spoke up suddenly, glancing at him. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure." George grunted, his eyes on the road as he drove. "Ask away."
"...Why do Emily and Foduck call you babygirl?" The car stopped suddenly as George slammed on the brakes, and turned to give Hank a glare, face red.
"It's a pet name," He rumbled sharply, a flustered scowl on his face. "Why does Rebecca call you cherub, huh?" Hank blinked and blushed, looking away from George, and out the car window.
"...I guess our partners both have pet names for us..." Hank murmured.
"Yeah." George replied in a mutter. "They do." He started the car again. "Let's talk about something else."

10-14-22
Theodore scowled as he gripped his bat firmly. He planted his feet, and looked his friend Hank in the eye. "You ready Theo?" Hank called, tossing the baseball from one hand to the other. Theodore nodded, and breathed deeply. He felt better, when he was in the batting cage...more alive. He felt like he had a better grip on life's problems, and himself. George's proposition, the rogue wolves, the ghosts, none of it mattered. All that mattered was him, the bat and the ball.
"I'm ready Hank!" He shouted, and Hank threw the ball. Theodore swung, the bat connecting with the baseball with a crack. The ball went flying, and with it some of Theodore's worries. Hank shielded his eyes with a hand, and turned to Theodore, and grinned.
"It flew far." Hank observed. "I'll go get it-"
"No Hank, I'll get it." Theodore cut in. Hank glanced at him, surprised.
 "Are you sure?"
"Yeah." Theodore nodded, and raced off, leaving Hank in the batting cage.
He found the baseball easily, and slowed when he spotted it.
"I'm not even out of breath," Theodore thought, crouching to pick the ball up. When he rose to his feet, he froze, and growled.
"Aw, gee Ted," A voice spoke up behind him. "What happened to us being friends?" Theodore whirled to face the owner of the voice, the ghost of his old friend Lucy. She looked more corporeal than she had during their last encounter, a teasing look on her face. She blinked at him, cocking her head slightly, and smirked. "I see you've learned nothing from our last encounter Ted," She went on. "You still haven't gained control of your wolf side." She chuckled, striding towards him. Theodore turned away from her.
"What do you want Lucy?" He asked. "I thought you said you wouldn't follow me when I left Halifax. You told me you weren't able to leave your resting place." A cold hand settled on his shoulder, and Lucy's teasing voice filled his ears.
"Well, I lied. Both times actually." Theodore frowned at this revelation. "You see Theodore," She continued. "You and I are stuck together, because of the promise we made as children. Remember that?" Theodore nodded, and Lucy appeared in front of him, still smiling. "And my resting place was destroyed, I guess you could say I'm a free spirit." She chuckled at her own joke. "But, enough about me, how are you?" She looked up at him. "The full moon's in a few days..." Theodore scowled. She was right, the full moon was in a few days, and with it, his transformation, as well as George's proposition, to join his pack.

Theodore Tugboat
"I'm Theodore T. Thompson!" Theodore paused, and added, in a quieter voice. "...The "T" stands for Tobias." Hank grinned.
“Well, Theodore T. Tugboat,” Hank began. “I’m Hank H. Hoffman. The “H” stands for Hackett.” The two men looked at each other, and laughed.

10-15-22
Theodore could only watch as Molly the Vehement rushed him, sword raised and ready to strike. "NO!"  Theodore gasped as Molly's blade was parried by a claymore, the blade sent flying into one of the pillars. The wielder of the claymore, was someone Theodore had never expected to see.
"Theodore..." Oliver stood in front of him, sword drawn. "Go. I'll handle it from here." Molly was rising to her feet, bleeding from a gash in her armor. She looked enraged, the fury in her eyes tempered by her cold voice.
"Oliver the Vast, I should've known..." She raised her hand, and her blade dislodged itself from the pillar, and returned to her grasp. With a snarl, the two knights collided, blades crossed. Oliver was bigger than Molly, but she was quicker.
"Oliver! Let me help! I can-"
"No! Theodore, you have to leave!"  Oliver snapped, and swung his blade at Molly, who nimbly sidestepped and retaliated. "Take your friends and go! It isn't safe here!" A little ways away from Theodore, George the Valiant was rising to his feet. He was in bad shape, his armor was gashed and dented in places, and his broadsword lay broken. He rushed at Emily and Hank, who lay fallen, and picked them up. He broke off into a staggered run, heading for the exit. Molly was still embroiled in her battle with Oliver, the two knights' blades crossed, neither giving.
"Theodore!" George's desperate shout tore the young adventurer's gaze away from the battle. "Come on!"
"But Oliver, Molly will-" Theodore yelped as George grabbed him, and headed for the exit. Oliver watched them leave out of the corner of his eye, his gaze flickering back to Molly, who was striding towards him.
"It's a shame really." She began. "We could've joined forces Oliver, and destroyed those pathetic adventurers."
"I'd never join forces with you!" Oliver coughed, and spat blood. Molly frowned slightly.
"I thought you'd say that, traitor." Quicker than his eye could see, Molly slashed at him, bringing the warrior to his knees. Molly pointed her blade at his throat, ready to send him to the distant lands beyond.
"Enough, Molly." She froze, and sheathed her sword, turning to the direction of the voice. "If it took all you had to bring the Vast to his knees," Molly frowned at this. "Then, he has the potential..." Darkness blurred the edges of Oliver's vision, and he collapsed.

Theodore Tugboat Ramble
I love the character design in Theodore Tugboat
Because all of the tugboats are the same wood color.
Their noses, and hats and hat colors are the only differing features and it works so well!
I love that Theodore has a round, button nose, and red baseball cap. It screams "main character."
I also love the slight facial differences in the older ocean-going tugs and the younger harbor tugs.
You can tell that Foduck is older than Theo and Hank.
And don't get me started on the voices. The narrator did a stellar job, differentiating the characters.
