The Shows Must Go On: Richard III

This is a work of William Shakespeare, but not one that is as mainstream as Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet. This was my first time reading or seeing it, and as a fan of Shakespeare, it was quite a delight. Even in his time, political or royal drama still served as a huge source of content for him to create plays. Plays that would help the normal people understand what was happening so far above them, that affected their day to day lives.

#Showfilmfirst has sometimes really good offers I got their email, & had a very good night #watching a freebie of #KinkyBoots #theatre #play, courtesy of #TheShowsMustGoOn! via #YouTube, without ads, without paying, just a couple of times being asked for a #donation, which I happily obliged to in the end (they couldn't take #PayPal for some reason) I wasn't sure what it was, but I sure needed a distraction! It blew me away, the amount of work #actors put on #stage, the #lyrics were facilitated by #CyndiLauper, I would have never guessed any of these people would be actors I thought: FINALLY THERE IS #EQUALITY Why? I have been #dreaming for a few years of being able to go every week to #London to watch a play in the #WestEnd, just because Barbie's father used to take her there every week, and I'd love that too The problem is, prices are overinflated everywhere.. from £10 to £20 odd train ticket price increase, a minimum of £20 lunch for a decent #Chinatown meal, plus the ticket for the Theatre, and sometimes you get PILLARS. Or a tall person in front of you. #Discrimination of the poor, and also of the short people. For almost £100 per person, you can fly to a different country, so it's almost not worth spending that amount in a day in #London The best Theatre play I've ever been to was in #Barcelona about a decade ago, I watched a #musical about my all time 80s favourite band #Mecano, and it was even better than the songs, as it put a story behind it Mum splashed out on me for once, and bought me 2 front seats, I happily took my nephew, but being tall, he was told to duck, despite having paid the full whack I think this #lockdown has forced Theatres to give in, I don't think it's a bad idea to #streamline, you have lots of #disabled people or people that simply can't travel that far for a 2h entertainment I guess work hours would be dramatically reduced, but being able to stream worldwide, could open up a source of revenue, never imagined before.. " 💖🎼🎭🌹 * * For the 200th post(!!) on my cosplay account, here is the closet cosplay/cosplay test I did of Christine Daaé (ALW stage-verse) . . . from two months ago. * * Phantom of the Opera has been near & dear to my heart since middle school (& was probably my first fandom, even though I didn't know what fandom was until HS or so & wasn't involved in the PotO fandom until college--& by involved in fandom I mean reading fic & making "just add text" LJ icons). I was able to see the ALW musical twice in Rochester (maybe the touring company?) & once in Toronto--I really wish I could find my programme (or even knew which year I went!) so I could look up which casts I saw, alas! The nearby university put on the Yeston & Kopit version around that time & I know we went to see it, but sadly, I barely remember anything from that show. * * I fell back into the PotO fandom when #TheShowsMustGoOn aired the 25th Anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall version (which I'd somehow forgotten I had?!) & now my mum & I are tentatively planning a trip to see the show on Broadway next year. It's been about 20 years since I've seen PotO & never on Broadway, so I'm really hoping this thing DOES happen! * * Costume details (finally): "dressing gown" is comprised of the petticoat I made to wear under most of my cosplays (pattern by #TheAntiCraft) & the floaty, filmy blouse I wore the last time I saw PotO (& really ought to wear more often); corset is by @bosswenchofficial / Crystal Fineries; & pointe shoes are ‪@blochdanceusa Serenades. Not sure if I should keep this as a cosplay test or properly cosplay Christine? The Shows Must Go On: Being Shakespeare

This was an amazing insight into the mind of William Shakespeare, the man who made his place in history and defined many of the common words we say today. More than that, this was a great job done by a one man team. One man who acted as narrator and Shakespeare, as the stage would slowly change around him. One moment he is narrator, and the next he is a school boy questioning Latin. I do believe this is one of the best ways to honor the man, besides movies like Shakespeare in Love being classics, as the style in which this is written and told is Shakespearian in itself. I have always loved looking into the minds and stories of the men and women that define history.
