Channeling the inner #tarzan in me in Vera Falls - a secluded but stunning waterfall at the base of Mt. Malinao in Albay. The waters were amazingly clear, cold and there were many pygmy fishes swimming around. To get there, you need to travel from Legazpi City to Tabaco City in a 30-45 minutes van ride, then rent a tricycle going to Barangay Bulang, Malinao (15-20 minutes ride) where you will@be dropped at the habal-habal station going to Vera Falls from the main highway. The falls is in Barangay Soa which is 11 km from the main road. The road was pretty narrow, winding, and steep which is why habal-habal best mode of transportation. Private cars and vans can also come in. Finally, a 5-10 minutes hike is needed to reach the falls from the habal-habal drop-off point. The gushing Arvalem Waterfall in North Goa

Situated in Rudreshwar colony in Sanquelim, Goa, the Arvalem Waterfall is a famous scenic waterfall that is visited by large number of tourists every year and the rush is seen mostly in the monsoon season. The way to the falls is a zigzag long way with greeneries on both the sides. The waterfall stands at a distance of 30 km from Kadamba Bus Stand of Panjim. It is 8 km from Bicholim and 2 km from Sanquelim. Thewaterfall gushes down from a height of 24 feet. The Arvalem also known as the Arvalem waterfall is one of the best destinations to visit in the state. There is small lake at the bottom which is formed by the waterfall and many people are seen swimming in it. The color of the lake turns muddy in rainy season but in summer season the speed of the gushing water decreases and also the depth of the lake. The Arvalem falls is a popular waterfall in Goa after the Dudhsagar falls in Goa. There are other places to visit in the vicinity. The Arvalem caves are located nearby just at a distance of 9 km. and there is also a Hindu temple nearby named as new tab)">Rudreshwar temple. It will take one day to visit the place including all sightseeing.

When to visit

Monsoon is the only time to visit waterfalls as the water current increases and you could enjoy the long falls cascading down in full speed. The atmosphere is eco friendly and is covered with greeneries on all sides. Tourists start visiting the place from 9 in the morning till 6 in the evening. May to November is the best time to visit.

Reaching there

Buses are available from Panjimtill Bicholim from where the spot is 8 km. hire a bike or cab to reach there.Entering there is free of cost. It takes an hour to reach the waterfall fromPanjim, the distance of which is 32 kms. The nearest airport is new tab)">Dabolim airport and the spot is 43 km away from here. Alternatively, you can hire a car from Calangute to reach the spot. Buses ply from Mapusa and Panaji to the Arvalem waterfalls. The nearest bus station to the spot is the KTC. Taxi or bikes can be hired from Margao, Pajim or Mapusa to reach the destination.

Nearby attractions

The Rudrehswar temple is in the vicinity and it holds an importance for the devotees. This temple also offer stobe a view point to see the waterfall. The Arvalem caves or the Pandava caveis known to be very ancient as the rocks and monuments got traces of 6th century BC. it is known as Pandava caves as during their exile they took as helter in this caves inside dense forests. Also these caves are said to be occupied by Buddhist monks. The waterfall is located 2 km away from the caves.There is a statue of Gautama Buddha previously found in these caves which is now kept in the Goa Museum and is a justification of Buddhist presence.   Monsoon season brings fun for the native people as they enjoy swimming in the lake.
